Aurora wakes up again, this time in a strange apartment. Is the place as unfamiliar as she thinks? Did Thanatos really bring her into Love and Deepspace? He didn't even let her complete her wish!

Chapter 2: Linkon City

TUESDAY June 25th 2047 Aurora abruptly opens her eyes (pt. 2). 

What a fucked dream. Who dreams in a dream?

She sinks and snuggles deeper into the blankets…which are way too comfy-

Wait.  

She jolts out of the bed immediately, eyes darting across the room — her heart now racing.

The ceiling- is too pristine. The wall- since when was it this burnt orange?!

“What the hell. What the hell! WHAT THE HELL?!” 

She scrambles, limbs flailing. Her panic only manages to wrap herself tighter in the sheets. 

Thud!

“Owww. Shit!”

Tangled in fluffy betrayal, she lays like a toppled caterpillar on the floor.

WHERE AM I?

Wriggling out of the cocoon, she dumps the blankets back on the bed with zero grace. Aurora exits the unfamiliar, but cozy, bedroom, bare foot and adrenaline-fueled, stumbling to a marble top kitchen that greets her on the right. 

Blue light materialises on top of it. Floating and blinking.

Is that a hologram?!

“What the fu-”

She takes a slow and cautious step closer.

The translucent interface lights up, as if sensing her presence.

Good Morning, Aurora. 

displayed in a glowing gold text.

Whaaa. This is creepy… It knows my name? Did I somehow sleep for a few decades?

A living area, with a long grey couch, basks in the sunlight filtered from the ceiling-to-floor windows. The balcony displays a magnificent view of towers that seemed like they were lined with mirrors. A skyscraper adorns massive green gardens on balconies-

Shit. 

I’ve seen that tower.

In one of the scenes in LaDS.

That wasn’t a dream?! I’m in Love and Deepspace?!

NO WAY!

That Thanatos guy took me here without letting me complete my sentence!

Ringgggg.

Aurora whips her head towards the sound echoing from the bedroom and tiptoes towards it, skeptical.

The surface of the slick device flashes rhythmically. She picks it up, eyebrows furrowed.

It's her generic wallpaper.

The screen unlocks instantly with her face ID.

Her jaw drops.

YO THIS IS MY PHONE FROM EARTH. But I didn’t have this model? 

She turns it over in her hands.

Ping.

A message pops up on the screen.

Your wish has been granted!  Welcome to Linkon City!  I have provided you an apartment and completed some extra stuff so you won’t be starting from scratch. However, these resources are limited so you have to find your own source of income soon.  Have fun – or whatever you mortals say.

Aurora stares at the message in disbelief. Then she pinches herself. 

A dull pain follows.

Okay so... this is real. Not an isekai dream. Not a simulation. Actually real.

Her racing thoughts were then interrupted by a rumble. 

She has a much more important priority. 

She‘s hungry.

Aurora steps towards the kitchen and yanks the fridge open with a huff to find… 

Nothing. 

Wow. Okay. 

She squinted at the nothingness.

Makes sense though. Can’t be both isekaied and well-fed from the get-go.

She then notices the documents stacked neatly on the kitchen shelf. Sitting, she flips through the pages.

Lease agreement…bank account…

Her eyes widens. Oh wow. 

If I split the money, and save some as emergency funds, it’ll last a while but definitely not for more than a month…

Biometric data already done… PIN code for the apartment set…alright alright.

Everything’s prepped already. Thanatos did a good job.

She then tucks the documents away safely in her bedside drawer, under some books.

So I need a job and I need food. How the hell am I supposed to know where the shops are? 

Aurora turns back to open her phone, only to catch her reflection in the black glass. 

Shiny black hair. Deep brown eyes. 

Usually people look different in isekai stories, but I look the same…? 

She shrugged. Welp. Not really an issue. 

Aurora navigates the screen for the maps, recognising some apps. 

Oo, the moments app! 

Her lips curve into a smile. That had always been her favourite function. 

I’ll create an account later. 

A destination only 300m away from the apartment blinks at her and she locks it in. 

She inhales deeply and grabs a few empty cloth bags. 

Let’s go, I guess. Grocery shopping round two! 

Let’s hope truck-kun leaves me alone this time.

So this is Linkon City…

Cylindrical, bat-looking robots zoom over citizens. Ottos... 

Green seemed to fill-in every empty spot between the metal prisms looming over her. 

Roads are wide and accommodates cars well. 

It’s pretty much the same back on Earth (isn’t this still Earth though…um whatever). 

Everything just looks much sleeker and neater. 

Aurora finally reaches her destination and steps through the front doors of the shop. 

Seems like it’s family-owned. But it has everything. 

She gathers the essentials. Bread. Milk. Vegetables. Fruits. Etc.

Hmmm…maybe I should bake something for the neighbours. The document did say I moved in yesterday. It’ll be a good way to integrate myself into the community.

After buying some extra ingredients for some simple lemon cupcakes, she fumbles with the self-pay register.

“Please don’t embarrass me in front of your advanced society, please…” She mumbles to the holographic machine.

Aurora finds herself at the door of the apartment right next to hers. Three lemon cupcakes sit on the paper plate in her hand, each topped with a swirl of frosting and a single sugared zest curl.

“Hi! I’m Aurora, your new neighbour. I just moved in yesterday. I hope we can become friends!” She whispers, rehearsing with a smile she hopes doesn’t look too stiff. 

Behind her, footsteps echo. 

A tall man passes by, his black-hair brushing just above a sleek black mask. He eyes her suspiciously. 

She stiffens under his gaze and forces a sheepish smile. A friendly greeting.

I should’ve rehearsed back at my apartment instead of talking to a door like a psycho.

Whatever… its now or nothing. 

She turns back to the door and rubs her sweaty palm on her floral pastel-purple dress. She presses a finger on the doorbell.

Small, fast thumps and a blur of white hair announces a little girl’s return from school.

“Whoa, cutie. Slow down.” Rafayel intercepts Aurora mid-sprint, scooping her up into a princess carry. 

She lets out a giggle, twitching in his grasp as he nuzzles into her tummy.

Xavier drops onto the grey plush of the couch, groaning. “How is she so hyper when it's so hot outside?” 

“I’m just happy!” She beams, escaping Rafayel’s hold.

“You’re lucky that my mission ended early, Xavier.” Caleb calls out from the doorway, watching her run to him. “And you’re extra lucky that I showed up with the car. Otherwise, you would’ve had to walk in that heat with her.” He smirks, Aurora now helping him pull off his boots.

“Thanks.” Xavier mumbles. He then directs his voice at Aurora, “Alright. No more running around. You’re sweaty all over."

"He's right." Caleb agrees. "Let’s put you in the shower and you’ll feel great, okay?”

“Nope.” She pops the ‘p’ cheekily and zips past him, towards the stairs.

“Come on. Please?" Xavier slumps into the softness. "Daddy doesn’t want to play chasey today.”

Rafayel shifts off the sofa. “I’ll take her. I need to take a bath too. Let’s go, cutie.” 

“Nooo." She stomps. "I already did a shower this morning!”

An arm whisks Aurora a few feet in the air. Her legs flail around as she is pulled into a familiar hold. A deep voice chuckles, “Hello to you too, Kitten.” 

“Oh, she must’ve woken you up.” Caleb sympathises. “Listen to us, Pip.”

“Not quite.” Sylus sighs. “I have a business meeting to attend in two hours, so I was bound to get up soon.” He ruffles her hair with his other hand. “Rafayel. Take her uniform off of her.”

Rafayel makes quick work of it while she pouts. “I’m not sweaty!” 

As she protests, a pale green object slips out her fingers and spirals to the ground. 

She momentarily forgets about the shower, looking straight down.

“NOOOO! My ring!”

“Your ring?" Rafayel pauses mid-lift of her shirt at the outburst, raising an eyebrow. "What ring?”

“You don’t have a ring.” Sylus states. “Do you want one, Kitten?”

“What a strange way to ask for a ring.” Caleb expresses.

Aurora gets confused. ”What?…I already have a ring! It fell out of my hand.” She points at the floor. “Stooooop! You’re gonna step on it!” Squirming in Sylus’ hold, she bites his arm, making him reluctantly let her go.

She picks it up, cradling it in her hand.

A bright, golden-yellow flower sits on top of a green, stem ring.

She slips it on her finger.

“It really is a ring.” Xavier comments, resting his chin on the edge of the sofa, peering at the outburst.

“Yeah…” Aurora holds her hand out in front of her, admiring it. “My boyfriend gave it to me.”

…

Silence.

The front door clicks open.

A black-haired man with a tall, white coat walks in. 

“Why is it… so quiet?” His golden eyes narrow. “What broke? Who’s injured?” 

Caleb’s voice is deceptively calm. “You have a boyfriend?” 

“That’s not possible! You’re too young!” Rafayel exclaims, prying her fingers open to examine the ring.

“Who is your boyfriend, Aurora?” Sylus asks, tone flat.

Zayne simply chuckles, already sensing what’s coming.

She giggles. “Daniel gave this to me. His dad taught him how to make it.” 

“No way!” Xavier bursts. “Daniel? As in that bakery guy’s son?” 

Sylus huffs. “You still have a grudge on Charlie?”

“Princess.” Xavier stands up, making his way to Aurora, effectively ignoring Sylus. “This Daniel boy isn’t good. His dad tried to take mummy away from me. I told you, remember?”

“Buttttt, he’s so nice. He plays with me at the park all the time.” She sways side to side.

Caleb chuckles. “Are you for real, Xavier?”

“I am.” He rolls his eyes. “Charlie tried to steal my wife. And now his son is trying to steal my baby. It’s generational treason.” 

“If Xavier is this fired up, then something’s off.” Rafayel mutters. “Sorry, cutie.” He begins dramatically, “No blessing from me. I do not approve of this relationship.” He holds his hand out, palm waiting. “Come on now, pass me the ring.”

“No way!”

Zayne snorts.

“She probably doesn’t even know what ‘boyfriend’ means.” Sylus states at the two guys.

Zayne inquires. “Sweetie. What does ‘boyfriend’ mean?”

“Pfft. It means...he’s my friend, who's a boy!”

She crosses her arms, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world.

…

A beat.

The corner of Zayne’s lips curls up. "I thought so." He mumbles, pushing up his glasses.

Then Caleb breaks.

He lets out a deep laugh, one hand covering his face.

Sylus chuckles alongside him.

“What’s so funny!?” Aurora grumbles. 

Rafayel turns away and scoffs, concealing a sheepish smile and blushed cheeks.

Xavier lets out a breath and plops back on the couch, an arm over his face. It fails to hide his red-tinted ears.

“This isn’t funny!”

“Yes yes, Pip.” Caleb smiles at her. “Off you go to the shower.”

Later, the ring was somehow crushed under Xavier’s foot.

“Oops.”

Aurora stares in betrayal. “You stepped on it! On purpose!”

“I didn’t see it.”

“You’re lying.” She growls. Jumping onto his back, her forearms wrap around his neck.

He smirks, nuzzling into her hold like it’s a hug. “I didn’t say I wasn’t.” 

“Fine! I’ll ask him for another one.” Xavier starts choking.

“Nuh uh, cutie.” Rafayel approaches her with a menacing grin. “No, you won’tttt.” And he tickles the thought away.

On this note, I can totally see him doing a ‘knight’ and ‘princess’ roleplay with her. He wears his lumiere outfit while Sylus and Rafayel dolls Aurora up with a pretty dress.

‘Cordelia’ – Her lemurian name. Meaning ‘heart/daughter of the sea’. Which makes so much sense for the God of the Sea and Tides

This name would have variations like ‘Delia’ or ‘Lia’

He would use this name more when it’s just the two of them or they are having a family get together with Talia.

In fact, Talia must’ve given her Lemurian name.

‘Cutie’ – just like he had for MC

‘Sweetie’ or ‘Sugar’ – Yes. Sweet-based nicknames. It’s his favourite thing. So is his baby.

‘Dear’ – He’d probably use this nickname as she gets older and mature or when she isn’t listening to him 🤪

‘Baby’ – she’d always be his baby no matter how old she gets

‘Kitten’ – I can imagine him buying those small, over-sized cat outfits that parents make their baby wear and they look so adorable in 🥺💔

Like the little girl would be crawling on the ground, making little thump sounds with her hand and when he picks her up, she clings onto him

‘Rory’ would make sense coming out of Sylus because it’s like ‘Roary’ and he’s a dragon. Get it? Get it? Haha. crashes out

However… something had stirred. 

In the hushed void, they stood. 

Light challenged the darkness. Explosions shattered the silence. Greed tore through the peace. 

Birth had become prevalent. 

From defiance, a universe was born. It had opened its eyes.

But only one truth echoed.

Nothing lasts forever.

SATURDAY June 7th 2025 A pulsing pain enveloped Aurora as she slammed onto the harsh ground.

Her empty stomach was long forgotten. She no longer felt its retaliation towards her choice of not having breakfast. Hunger had faded into something colder.

The crunch of gravel beneath passing tires of cars, rumbled in her ears. 

Aurora’s lips parted to speak – then stilled.

Her groceries, scattered on the asphalt, began to blur and bend into smears of colour.

“Hey, are you okay?! Can you hear me?!” 

The voice felt far away.

She could barely register a hand cradling her back, and the other under her legs. 

The touch had gone numb.

??? ??? ?? ???? Aurora abruptly opened her eyes. 

It was just a dream. 

Deep breath in. Deep breath out. 

“That was, in fact, NOT a dream.” A deep voice echoed.

Her surroundings unblurred. 

Marble statues lined the off-white walls. The plush maroon carpet sunk under her feet, holding them tenderly.

Her eyes fell onto the man sitting in front of her. 

He tilted his head inquisitively. His murky, green hair shifted with the motion, brushing his cheekbones. A leg crossed over the other, and a wine glass balanced in his left hand, catching the light. 

Sharp features adorned his face – elegant and severe. His bright green eyes pierced through her, unwavering.

She flinched.

“Are you awake now?” 

“Yes.” Aurora squeaked.

What was happening? Why am I here? Why the hell is there a handsome man looking at me like that?

He smirked and took a sip of the shimmering white liquid. “Ah, good. Your senses have returned. Yes, I am a handsome man-” 

She blinked slowly, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. 

“After all, I am the Thanatos… God of Death.” He gestured grandly towards himself, brushing his hair back with his hand like he practiced the move in a mirror.

What role play did I get kidnapped into? 

Wait. Did he read my mind?!

“Yes, I did read your mind. And no, this is NOT a roleplay.” He huffed. “Mortals and their stupid ideas I swear- ANYWAYS, let’s cut this short.” Sip. “You died. On Earth. It was an accident, mind you- Some idiotic servant of mine messed up your fate. You were not supposed to die-”

“Huh?!” 

The memory crashed into her. The street. The truck. The groceries.

I was hit even after I checked either side of the road twice. I didn’t even have breakfast yet. Aurora laid a hand on her tummy, pouting. 

Wait. What about my family? My mum? My dad? My friends? They are going to panic!-

“I wasn’t supposed to DIE?!” Aurora’s eyes widened, voice shooting up an octave.

“That’s what I said…” Thanatos groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Now I have to take responsibility for that little shit.” 

She forced a polite smile, hands clasped together. “Okay…? Just send me back.” 

“No.”

She blinked. “No?” 

“No.”

Hello? “Excuse me!?”

He let out a dramatic sigh, placing his unoccupied hand on his forehead. “Look. Time moves differently here. Even though the journey of your soul here seems fast, your mortal body? It’s already past rigor mortis. You’ve entered decomposition. In fact, you are already buried in the ground.” 

Her eye twitched at his matter-of-fact tone. “Buried in the ground?! And what do you mean by ‘Here’? Where am I?”

“You seem to enjoy repeating my words for confirmation. I meant ‘Here’ as in the Underworld.” 

”So I died prematurely? And I can’t go back? That doesn’t sound fair…”

“Yes…I know…” His throne creaked as he slumped lazily into it.

Fantastic. 

He perked up. “I’ll compensate you though.”

“Yeah? How so exactly, Thanatos?” 

He twitched. The way she said his name, so casually, grated on him. “I don’t know…? I could… send you to another planet or universe? Fictional. Real. Made-up. Doesn’t matter. I could also just toss you somewhere random, but that’s not as exciting..”

A word caught Aurora’s breath. Any fictional one I can think of? 

“Yes, mortal. Anywhere.” He leaned forward with his chin on his hand. “You have one minute to come up with a place.”

A minute? What the hell?! “Wait! What?!”

“Fifty-nine… Fifty-eight…” Thanatos smirked like this was all one big game.

“Okay! Okay!” 

Love and Deepspace- Wait, I should at least think a bit (or pretend to). 

Her mind scrambled. Hmm…Where to? Where to? The worlds which I have read will get me killed as soon as I step into them. Demons. Vampires. War. Apocalypse. Political drama. Misogyny. 

LaDS popped back up like a stubborn little dream.

Okay, sure there are evolvers and chaos, but there are also hunters. The civilians without evols survive all the time… right?

Maybe I could even see the characters and know them personally. (Totally not the reason. Not at all.)

“Ten! Nine! Eight!” Thanatos sang, counting faster.

“I GOT IT! I GOT IT!” Aurora gasped. 

He’s out for me. Disgusting, smirking, handsome, ass. Wait, he can read my thoughts-

The corner of his mouth rose. “Good. Where to?”

“I want to enter Love and Deepspace- NOT as the MC though, okay?- I just want-”

“Wish granted.” His voice echoed across the marble wall, sealing her fate.

“WAIT!- I haven’t finished speaking!” 

A blinding light engulfed her vision.

Note & FYI:  Am I in love with the name Aurora? Probably. Feel free to insert yourself as Aurora. 

Aurora is NOT the MC. As someone who plays the game with more of an omniscient reader point-of-view, I wanted to write the story from a POV where ‘you’ or ‘I’ develop a friendly/mentor-student/neighbour/(are these spoilers?) relationship with the LI. I’ve always wanted to somehow support the characters in a non-romantical way so I decided to make this story to help satisfy that urge 😖. As a result, Aurora (the main character in this story) does NOT view the love interests of Love and Deepspace romantically. However, she may have her own romance later (perhaps a love triangle too).

I’m aiming to put the canon plot in the story but it’s more about Aurora and developing her relationships in Love and Deepspace.

I recommend listening to the song I put at the start of each chapter while reading because I try to pick it according to the mood or tone I’m going for in that chapter. :D I do not own the Love and Deepspace characters or its canonical plot.

DO NOT copy my story and use it as your own (it’ll make me very sad and discouraged). If you find someone doing this with my stories then let me know and we can jump them together.

Xavier

Like I mentioned about her name origin, they’d definitely share similar sleeping habits

That would lead to a favourite sleeping buddy (or in his point of view, a cuddly teddy bear)

I can see that if she were to be raised by 5 amazing fighters, she’d having as wonderful combat techniques but I feel like she’d have similar agility to Xavier

Just like him, she has slick and neat fighting style 

Her favourite combat item is the sword

They have the same colour of hair

Aurora would probably attract small animals just like Xavier (just like a disney princess hehe)

She’d learn how to make flower crowns from Jeremiah and make them all the time

Rafayel

She’d be born part lemurian for sure

So Rafayel would give her a lemurian name

Cordelia – which I have found to mean ‘daughter/heart of the sea’

Which is very fitting for the God of the Sea

Being born as a lemurian means the inheritance of artistic creativity

Aurora would probably lean towards singing rather than painting I believe (I can totally imagine her singing and a small crowd of animals forming around her)

The sea being a comfort place

Whether it’s just going to walk at the beach or having a dip in the water, it’s where she unwinds and where she can be alone in her thoughts :)

She loves how the water can mirror the pink and purple hues of the sky at a sunset

Zayne

They have similar golden eyes

Aurora’s source of the sweet tooth

Which means dreaded dentist visits

‘Dad says the dentist aren’t real doctors’ ‘I never said that sweetie’ ‘Dad also said that dentists are annoy-’ ‘Aurora let them clean your teeth please’ cue him looking away with red ears 

He probably lets her indulge in a few sweets at night sometimes, knowing that he also does it

He makes sure she brushes thoroughly though because he’s been told off by the dentist enough

Sylus

An obsession with collecting and hoarding

Especially, as a little girl, she’d love his stash of jewels and gems

Who wouldn’t go crazy over colourful sparkly things

He’d definitely buy more shiny gems in her favourite colour

But when she gets older, she’d be eyeing his guns and he’d help her at the shooting range

He’d gift her a custom gun

Dressing up!!!!!!

Sylus would facilitate yearly birthday shoots 

She could get the boys to wear any outfits she wished and she could wear whatever she would want

She’d walk into the kitchen ‘What are you doing dad’ ‘Cooking pipsqueak’ ‘Can I help’ ‘Alright but no eating the ingredients this time’ 

She’ll be helping him bake cookies and he’s making the dough

He turns around looking for the flour but that was obviously a mistake because now her hand is in the bowl of chocolate chips

She tries popping a few in her mouth when she then remembers someone who would love these, plopping off the stool and running to Zayne’s office room

Zayne comes into the kitchen holding her with a firm grip on her arm

It seems like she left a handprint of chocolate on his office door as she came to feed him

He debunks every rumour she hears ‘Dentists are real doctors. Zayne just doesn’t like dentists’

She’d watch Caleb making his models and hear him talk about his planes

I wanna make a series/headcannons/reactions that involve all the Love and Deepspace Love interests collectively looking after their child.

I've always wondered how they would be as fathers together in different scenarios so I wanted to share my thoughts on that.

I want to make it regarding an OC though so here is some info for this idea. It is all post-plot if you know what I mean and I'm assuming that MC gets with all the boys and they are poly.

I feel like they would all make great girl dads so I wanna focus on that but I wanna write according to any scenario people throw at me so don't hesitate to comment something. :D

Child name: Aurora

2 reasons behind this name

It is inspired by the Aurora borealis (Zayne duh)

The guys thought she had similar sleeping habits to Xavier and that she looked very pretty while sleeping so it is inspired by Sleeping Beauty's main protagonist 'Aurora'

Physical characteristics: White hair and Golden eyes

White hair due to Sylus and Xavier

Golden eyes due to Zayne

I know this sounds silly scientifically but hear me out. LaDS is set in a high-tech world so I think they could very possibly have ways to mix up multiple people's DNA to create an offspring that is inclusive to poly people. Maybe this isn't very legal and could hold lots of ethical complications but Sylus is literally acquainted with a scientist and Zayne is also a very sought out scientist. Its very possible that they've done this themselves.

Some backstory:

I don't really want to include MC in this but I can always change up according the scenarios.

During Aurora's birth, there were complications and MC didn't survive.

So the boys had to raise Aurora themselves.
