Murdoc is that one dude who “tests out” amps and basses at Guitar Center. Totally not arrogantly trying to show up other dude across the store who’s only strumming the same two chords. Heck no. He’s just testing out the tone, that’s all. Definitely.

2D, on the other hand, will create a fucking masterpiece, absentmindedly blooping at the keyboards while he’s waiting for Murdoc to finish his bullshit so he can go home and have some ice cream. He attracts a small crowd and isn’t even aware.

Just some thoughts yall. How about we give CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Saying “fuck you Gorillaz” and “I hate how this phase is going” doesn’t help. Let’s give pointers on how to improve, as you would give to LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE. Remember that Damon, Jamie, Remi, and everyone who’s worked hard on Gorillaz are still human beings who deserve respect. Have they blatantly disrespected their fans? No. Let’s remember this is their project as well, and they have the freedom to do what they want with it.

A criticism I could give is that Damon and Jamie (Damon especially) need to pace themselves more. They’ve done a lot for us this year, and I respect that, but I’m worried about their health and safety and what it’ll look like if they continue like this. So they need to take more time with things. I wouldn’t give a damn if they took three or four extra months to give us this next episode of Song Machine. Animation takes a LOT of time. Damon said that Jamie was on the verge of a nervous breakdown because of the Song Machine videos. And to that person who said that Jamie deserves to be overworked—you’ve lost ALL of my respect. That’s unacceptable. I don’t give a damn HOW dear Gorillaz is to you. Nobody who is a decent human being deserves to be driven to the point of a breakdown, and you shouldn’t be glad that Damon is overworking him either.

And please. Stop complaining about things that aren’t in their control. They don’t control COVID-19. In America we have random spikes in cases like every week, and I’m sure it’s similar in the UK. Consider their safety and allow them to take more time getting quality products to you instead of having a repeat of what happened with the damaged posters and vinyl records. Have patience. And on the subject of the varying prices of the Almanac in different stores, I’m pretty sure that’s because the editions on Z2 also come with the standard Song Machine CD, so...that contributes to the price. Have patience, please. I understand being upset that merch you ordered came damaged, but try to be respectful and understanding of the pressure some artists are under this year. Gorillaz has put out an entire album, an Almanac, tons of merch (including cassette tapes, exclusive vinyls, deluxe album variations, prints, stickers, masks, T-shirts, art booklets and more), and eight music videos.

Looking at all this, you can understand why they might be a bit stressed. Let’s remember they’re not being backed by a record label anymore. They’re their own entity now, Gorillaz Productions. They don’t have nearly as much funding as they used to. Consider this when calling them pieces of shit who rely on fanservice to keep people interested.

Everyone has room to improve, so do Damon and Jamie. I’m quite sure this phase is not the end of Gorillaz. They love their work, after all. Trying something new is not a crime. At the end of the day, it is their project. Have respect and patience please. Gorillaz has been a part of my life since I was eight and I love them. I get some people are upset and disappointed in them right now, but lashing out isn’t the answer. Support them. I believe Jamie needs y’all’s utmost support right now. Damon really needs to slow down as well. So please keep this in mind before you go and tell them that their music and their message is a shell of what it once was.

Wanna have a conversation with 2D? Now you can! This audio was taken from the Escape to Plastic Beach Interactive Game (sadly, the game doesn’t work anymore). I’m sure there are more dialogues in the game, but this all I could find. 

Allow me to explain what’s going on: You, as the player, arrived at 2D’s underwater bedroom at Plastic Beach and you see him sitting on his bed, huddling himself together, shaking in fear from a big whale that was guarding him by his window. You’ll talk to him about how he got to the island and how to get Murdoc out of his radio room (which is where he’s trapped). And that pretty much sums it up. As soon as you press the play button on the audio, say the first line on #1 and 2D will respond back. Then just continue from there. Enjoy! :)
