During our time in quarantine, Our Photoshop/ Illustrator Instructor linked us 3 tutorials for illustrator. One discussed about using the blob brush tool, one showed us how to do comic inking and coloring, and the final showed us how to make our own custom brushes. I thought that these were going to be needed to be done for the assessment, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I still thought that it was worth while to post here as my last post of 2nd year.
My first one (Lineart done by Nick roche, go check him out) was testing out the blob tool. The second one is me testing out the comic inking and coloring tutorial on a sketch of a cartoon version of myself. And the final one being a custom brush I made of a fire ball.
I’d just like to take this opportunity to say that while, yes, this school year did not end on the highest of notes, I want you all to know that taking part in this course with you all has been one of the highlights of my life so far, I've always dreamed of becoming an animator and to have that slowly become a reality is a true blessing. I’d like to thank you all for the laughs and times shared together during this journey and I can’t wait to see you all next year. And with that, I bid ye farewell, till next we meet.

Due to the cornavirus, Our tutor’s decide they would merge both Life drawing and animation into one assignment. We were tasked with going to the site https://www.thesoundarchive.com/ and we were asked to choose a piece of dialogue. Then we would have to act out the piece of dialogue we choose and, using ourselves as reference, pick out the key poses to use as, well, key poses in a animated sequence. I choose the Voice line “FOUND ANYTHING YET?” in which someone replies “We ain’t found shit!!” from the film space balls. These are my sketches based on myself acting out the dialogue.

My monogram animated sequence. I am really happy with how this turned out. I am a huge fan of all things Sci-fi, so designing a monogram around a spaceship aesthetic and then actually getting the opportunity to do a animation of a spaceship was a blast. The project overall took about a week to complete

My final Animation for the Smarter Travel Campus, unfortunately due to poor time management and too much energy focused on trying to perfect the animatic, I never got to fully finish the animation, with only One sentence really being lip synced and the animation overall basically being a colored in animatic. While I’m slightly dissapointed that I didn’t get to finish the animation, given the circumstances we find ourselves in, I feel this was as good as it’s was going to get.

In our last day before all the schools and colleges were unfortunately shut down, we at least ended on a high note were we got to partake in a stop motion workshop as someone came in and showed us how to do a paper craft stop motion animation. She said we could make it about anything we wanted, so of course I used it as an excuse to do a animation on a trex.

Some Backdrops used in my Smarter Travel animated short. They were mostly based off my student accommodation, with the dash board shot based off my family’s car.

My final Logo for the Monogram project. I’m really happy with how it turned out actually. I feel like it has a nice neon effect to it while still resembling the spaceship transition for the animated sequence. I’m also getting some like 80′s movie intro from it as well, which I feel is pretty cool.
