I chose this layout of looking at photos so the viewer can focus on one photo at a time, and be intrigued. I was inspired by the photo books of Josef Koudelka.
I am presenting my photos as a narrative, and i wanted to make a book.
this is a cover for my book, i used 2 of my photos and i layered them. I wanted that rust to be Ophelias tears. I gave this title because of my characters depressive state and her drowning, is like a literal way of losing those feelings in water.
Photo development. I have developed 2 of the photos I took with analog camera few weeks ago. Gemma taught me the process of developing photographs, it was a very enjoyable experience. By the time I developed my second photo it became easier to remember the steps.
Joseph Koudelka
Taya Iv
Ossip
Dara Skully
Joel-Peter Witkin
Andy Warhol
These are the artists I used as an inspiration for my project. Whether it is street photography (Koudelka) or Joel Witkins gory carefully arranged parts of diseased human bodies, all these artists have fascinated me with their mysterious dark and emotionally charged work. Black and white photography to me feels like nostalgia, old, memories. I love black and white photography because I think it takes away the distraction and makes us focus on the feeling of the photo. All these photos have sense of sadness apart from Andy’s Warhol skulls, which are very interesting as well but it doesn’t cut it for me. However I also made a colourful collage while I was experimenting with editing.
