Process Board:
This is the process board that I did for this project. It’s starting at the top left with sketches that were done from pinning the fabric to the mannequin and working it’s way across.
Some of the sketches were altered to add more details to the garment such as a glove that wasn’t there on the pinned design.

Finalised Sketches:
This was the six finalised sketches that I made using a few small altercations to the other twelve sketches, I ended up going with the first choice as it had the a lot of difference than the original garment but also enough fabric to make it.

Final Garment:
Artist Statement:
This is my completed garment in the photoshoot that we got to do on Thursday.
I’m so happy with how all of the photos came out. This is some of the best photos from the photoshoot!
For this project I wanted to really focus in on the idea of the garment being deconstructed like in the brief and although I made sure all of the edges were hemmed and that there was no loose strings hanging out.
I focused on the deconstruction by using safety pins to hold the garment together where there would usually be seams (Both arms and down the skirt).

In the brief we were required to deconstruct the two garments and create 12 more looks out of these two garments onto the mannequin.
These are the looks I created:

Fashion - Choosing Garments and Researching Them…
The two garments I chose I felt complemented each others fabric and colours, This is also some research about the materials and the brand they came from.

Movement Artist Statement:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This semester the theme was movement, I began this semester with the ceramics discipline which involved a lot of mark making, This mark making is what set me up for the rest of the semester and all other disciplines as I was able to bring it through to fashion by making a design using the mark makings and also inspired a lot of the prints which I used white spirits for.
I not only wanted to focus on the bubble itself but also what the bubble left behind once popped and how the bubble could be interpreted.
This semester I felt as though I got a good amount of work finished in the smaller amount of time. Although I would have liked to produce more artwork for ceramics in particular I feel as though the smaller quantity of work I produced had a higher quality than what I produced in semester one.
Altogether I think that the work produced this semester is quite cohesive and you can tell the theme of it (Bubbles) all throughout each artwork and discipline.

Print:

While doing my etching in the print studio a tutor came over to show me another kind of print that could be related to my project using leftover ink.
This technique was to use white spirits onto a sheet of acetate that had ink leftover on it resulting in random patterns and patched that looked similar to when bubbles pop. I really enjoyed this technique and felt that the results came out quite well.

Print Etching:

I was planning on finishing my woodcut for my intaglio part of print but unfortunately the wood broke and I felt as though a good replacement for this would to do the same design as an etching.
I had done a few prints of this design without the background ink and felt that when I left the background ink it added more dimension to the print.

Print Workshop Results:

These are the results from the relief printing workshop that I had done a few weeks ago.
At first when they were drying I did not think that I liked the results from them but as I left them to dry and looked at them with a fresh pair of eyes I came to really like the texture that was left behind from the wallpaper used.

I used the mark making that I had previously done in Ceramics to make a design on a paper doll that I had made.
I used the “Bubble” markings as the main material as the dress and used the “Popping” markings as the 3-D shoulder piece and also as a miniature belt to break up the material on the dress.
