Ceramics Workshop
For my final week I wanted to accomplish my idea of making small clay figures.
I made 3 different sets of figures. One with no arms, only embracing themselves with their bodies. One with one arm each. And the last with two arms each.

I proceeded to paint them each of the figures 2 separate colours to show they are two different people.
Unfortunately the figures with 2 arms each broke so i wasn’t able to paint them.

Painting Workshop
I made 4 separate paintings of hands holding/using fruits in a sexual manner. The fruits include an eggplant, pomegranate, banana and orange.
The painting vary in size. The banana and pomegranate paintings are A3 while the orange and eggplant are A4.
I am very happy with how they came out and hope to continue doing paint as my discipline.

Primary Research - Embracing
As part of my project i wanted to look into the emotional side of intimacy, not just the sexual.
I’ve seen a lot of people do “embracing shirts” online. I thought it would be interesting to gather my friends and make a few different “embracing shirts”. (We cleaned up after ourselves properly don’t worry)

Overall it was a very fun process. I love how the shirts came out and i might even make one for myself.

Artist Research - Marilyn Minter
Marilyn Minter is an American visual artist who is best known for her sensual paintings and photographs. Her pieces blur the line between commercial and fine art.

Green Pink Caviar, 2009
In Green Pink Caviar, Minter explores the idea of painting with the tongue. To create this piece, she told her models to lick candy on a sheet of glass and filmed it. The tongues mixed the “paint” with saliva, slurping and pushing the color around the glass surface.
While quite unsettling and off putting at first, Green Pink Caviar explores ideas of sensuality. It gives a sense of vulnerability, seeing the tongue moving along the glass in this way.

Printing Workshop (Etching 2)
For my second etching piece I made a A3 print of a banana going into a strawberry.
I made a normal print of it aswell as a print with tissue paper. I really liked how the colour print came out. It was quite difficult to cut out and place the tissue paper perfectly.

Printing Workshop (Etching 1)
Etching was probably my favourite part of the printing. I enjoyed the process of inking the acetate and rolling it onto paper. Unfortunately due to the details on my print my hand hurt quite a bit after all the etching.
I made a smaller print of a pomegranate and strawberry. The one on the right was a failed attempt due to me rolling over the print twice.

Printing workshop (Monoprints)
During the printing workshop we were told to do a small series of monoprints.
I decided to do a different fruits. Ranging from your common grapes and strawberries to more complex ones like a papaya and a star fruit.

Later on we got to make a larger monoprint. I Wanted to include more than just fruits in this one.
I made an A3 monoprint of two fruits and two sex positions.
I enjoyed monoprinting, it was quite hard to create the exact tones i wanted but i was satisfied with the results.

Life Painting
On Monday in painting we had the chance to participate in life painting of a nude model.
we were limited to only a large brush and 3 shades of paint (dark, medium and light tone). I enjoyed the painting although i do wish we had more time and a larger variety of paint brush sizes

Painting Workshop
While in the painting workshop I wanted to make a piece inspired by a post I saw on twitter a couple weeks ago.

The image shows two figures embracing each other. One blue, the other yellow. when they intertwine their bodies create a green to show they’re together.
This image has been made quite popular over social media platforms. Prompting people to create their own versions ‘I depend on you’.

Painting Workshop
During the painting workshop, I’m painting my ‘fruit art’. I plan to make a series of 4 pieces, one for each fruit i photographed.

I can’t wait to finish these paintings. I’m really enjoying them.

Primary research
With inspiration from Stephanie Sarley’s work i wanted to make my own ‘fruit art’.

I used a banana and aubergine to represent penises, and an orange and pomegranate to represent vaginas. I proceeded to take photos of the fruits in intimate moments.
I really enjoyed exploring fruit in this way. Although it got quite messy, it was a unique experience. I think it helped me a lot in my project.

Stephanie Sarley - Artist research
Stephanie Sarley is a contemporary American multimedia artist. She is most well known for her ‘fruit art videos’.
Sarley depicts sexual and intimate movements with her fingers on many different fruit. The fruit is used to represent the vagina. Her fingers can represent the penis, sex toy and or just fingers.
I enjoy Sarleys work due to its straightforwardness. She doesn’t beat around the bush and is proud to represent femininity in her work.

Doron Langberg - Artist research
Doron Langberg is an Anerican Israeli artist. His work is done in oil paint and coloured pencils. The subject of his paintings are his friends and lovers. Langberg’s pieces celebrate queer pleasure, friendship, and intimacy.

What i enjoy about Langberg’s art is his use of different colours in his paintings. It gives an almost psychedelic look, like you could get lost in it.

Gathering Primary Sources
With the help of a few friends I photographed people in different intimate positions and poses

My main goal with these photos was to capture the emotional intimacy of specific poses. Limbs intertwining, holding hands, embracing.

Study of animals
To understand 3D work more I decided to choose an animal from my series of animal constellations and make a model of it.
I decided to make a gecko because of its rather simple structure and size.
Firstly, using wire and a bit of hot glue i made a “skeleton” model of a gecko

Afterwards I wrapped the wire with layers of tinfoil to mimic a body.
