People have been talking about the need to discuss non-kin alterhuman experiences so here's a quick ramble about my otherheartedness and the peculiar dysphoria that's been difficult to treat that accompanies it for me.
Otherheartedness for me is... interesting. It's far more of an emotional experience than being otherkin, honestly. In both good ways and bad.
It's peace and wonder because they are something that is real, whether as a flesh-and-blood creature or as a well-loved concept often honored in art and writing. It's being able to look at them (or even bask in thier presence if they're Earthen) for hours on end without being bored. It's feeling as though your love for them forms a core part of your identity and you wouldn't be You without it.)
It's feeling a hole within because no matter what efforts you make to claim thier beauty as your own you will never truly Become, never be able to see yourself as one in a way that feels natural and effortless (I still claim them as link types but the dissonance is probably always going to be there and it Hurts). It's surrounding yourself with thier shape in the form of figurines, art, jewelry, even clothing (good old Mountain T Shirts before thier quality fell off a cliff...) to feel a bit of thier power and presence and hope that in some way, somehow, some of it will finally rub off on you and calm that yearning itch in your mind.

We're everywhere.
Therians and alterhumans are everywhere.
You walk past us in the park, the store, you drive past us, you talk to us, you go to school with us, you work with us.
And although it may not be evident, we are here.
We will always be here.
It's not a trend, it's a way of life. Therianthropy is not a choice, it's something you're born with. For some people, it takes them longer to discover that they're therians.
God, for all you know you could've gone to a McDonald's drive thru and talked to a German shepherd about how you wanted your Big Mac cooked. About how you want your fries with no salt. Your coke with no ice.
For all you know, your college professor could be a grizzly bear teaching you about ancient Roman history. The glee on his face as he explains the Roman empire.
For all you know, your doctor could be a stag, telling you that you need to cut back on the fatty foods; your cholesterol is too high. She tells you that you need to eat more salads and salmon.
We are everywhere.
We are all around you.
We are never leaving.
So, the next time you look around, just remember: we are your neighbors. We are part of the world, just like you.

kinda sick of all those posts that are like "my ancestors were surviving starvation and the plague meanwhile i get nervous ordering food at restaurants". as if jauffrey the woodworker didn't fumble his conversation with the fine maiden running the fruit stand and then tripped on a pebble as he left in a hurry

I love Matilda because it's a story about a child who sees injustice around her and gets mad about it and questions why things aren't fair, and instead of the ending being that she learns how the world works and that life isn't fair, she catapults one of the adults who abused her out of a building with her mind

i'm curious, because when i go through shifts there are times i feel more feral, and there are times where my body feels more anthropomorphic (or human-like) almost like a fursona (scalesona?) of a crocodile.
rb for exposure! i'm very curious about how others interpret their bodies during shifts
#its kinda weird#like i feel almost completely nonhuman#but my body is almost completely human#idk how to explain it? its like a mental shift but also a physical shift but idkkk ugh#if theres a term for this lmk pls#otherkin#therian#alterhuman#nonhuman#therianthropy#fictionkin#otherkinity

if we keep doing uwu soft little vampire and big strong dumb werewolf how are we going to ever break out of gender binary
if i see 1 more artist make the masculine/larger/stronger human partner into the werewolf im going to freak out
lycanthropy is about losing yourself. please i am begging you to make someone random, someone unequipped, into a werewolf. please. small scrawny werewolves who are weak and scared, feminine werewolves, werewolves who struggle with the idea of taking something's life (even another animal for food) werewolves who refuse to get dirty because they're averse. werewolves need more than 1 mental illness yall
its kind of a joke at the beginning but not really. make an insane jacked vampire and her petite femme werewife with braided patterned fur or something; make the vampire a seamstress who wont quit until her werewife has the perfect fitting dress for her new furry body. stop with the "oh this character is butch/masc, CLEARLY they would make a good werewolf" shut uuuuupp be a LITTLE more creative. come on!!! do you really think every single werewolf has a premium gym membership? quit drawing them like it !!!
