A teen female football first
1. The main point of this article is to inform us about Karlie Herman who became the first girl to win player of the year in Washington,D.C, area youth football league. The main point is first illustrated in this example "Karlie is the first female quarterback ever to win this award." The author in this quote only states the main point directly. The main point is later on developed talking about Karlie's background. It talks about how she started in football like: " Karlie, an eighth-grader from Loudoun,Virginia, had played on soccer and basketball teams in the past". Then, the article talks about how Karlie was the only girl in the team to back up the main idea. 2. Purpose: The text's purpose is to inform us about the first girl to win player of the year in Washington, D.C. The purpose is first expressed to us in the description under the title, which clearly tells us what the article will be about. The purpose is explained by talking about the girl's general background and then how she's the only girl in the team. Organization: I really like how the text is organized. Its divided into little paragraphs which aren't too general or too detailed. The article is also divided into three parts; the first one is general information about the text and then about the football player and finally about how she was the only girl in the team. The article contains photos which fulfils my curiousity to see how she looks like. I think the article would have been more intresting if it had the other players views and opinions on her. 3. Who is the author? Is the author a reliable person? and does she usually write articles? and if she does is it usually about sports? Where was the article posted? Does the news source usually post about sports or women or anything relating to this post? 4. I think that its partly reliable because there are direct quotes from Karlie's mother. After researching Laura, the author, i can see that she isn't an active writer and in general she doesn't write about sports a lot, and that makes me suspect the reliability of the text. Scholastic news is a reliable news source , the news that are published there are meant for students and isn't false.

Do you like Christopher? What about his father? And his mother? Are they good people? Do you sympathize them when they behave unskilfully, or blame them for their faults? Write two paragraphs.
I do like Christopher's character a lot, in which he stands up for what is right for him. Christopher is straightforward when talking and replies to people in a way I find really funny. I think Christopher's father is a good man deep within, maybe he hid the fact that his mother is alive because he didn't want Christopher to worry about her or go after her or ask about her a lot. I think that it's acceptable that he killed Wellington, since it was self-defence and the dog was attacking him. I don't blame Christopher or Father for their actions. Christopher wanted to go because he thought that his Father might kill him after killing Wellington, which is a little bit unreasonable to us but since Christopher's mind works differently than ours it becomes the right thing to do.
Mother, in my opinion, is selfish in some way and not selfish in another but I don't really like her. Mother wasn't used to Christopher's way of actions and how he screams all the time and likes things in a precise way. She didn't like it and I know it's a mother's job to care for her child but she couldn't. Mother liked another guy and it would be really hard for her and Father to raise Christopher together, where fights would take place all the time and I don't think Christopher would feel loved or cared by them. Mother might have done a favour by going. I think that Mother could've moved out but not really far out, so then Christopher can go to her house and stay with her when he need to see her.

How has your opinion of social media changed from doing this project? Some people look at social media negatively – how would you argue with them that it can be useful and educating?
Social media in my view has always been a positive thing with negatives branching out of it. I started realizing how useful and educating it can be after this project.
Social media has its positives and negatives, from both sides my view of social media have changed. I didn't focus on how social media have changed out traditions which is something really important in our daily routines. Where we used to eat our meals together as a family and now most of us rarely ever do. How our goals have changed from changing the world to having materialistic goals like buying this watch or this car or this design of a house.
Social media can be useful and educating, in spreading ideas that are sometimes new to the mind and not expectable but can actually change the world or a vary small part of it at least. Our project right here is a way of using social media in a useful and educational way.

I totally agree with this, especially the part when you said 'people with those disabilities are already insecure about what they have to go through, and people are adding humiliation.'  People who are disabled suffer or feel bad in the first place and the entertainment media is just making it worse for them. Of course, as you said, showing disabilities in media for a positive cause is good and is meaningful, most of the times, for the disabled.
Portraying people with disabilities in entertainment media is unfair
This is 100 percent true. Making fun of people’s disability shouldn’t be considered as an “entertainment,” that’s one. Two, people with those disabilities are already insecure about what they have to go through, and people are adding humiliation. This is just making them feel worst. In any sort of entertainment, if it will hurt the person’s feelings in the end, then this is where the unfairness comes. Those people never chose to be like this, It is how they were born. Doing such thing like using people with disabilities as a side of entertainment is called being lifeless, and childish. A child will even understand better. Doing that, is also meaning you being rude to that person.
Though, portraying people as in inspiring others, and showing them that its okay to be disabled, then you are being useful and spreading positivity. Instead of just wasting time by being rude, you can show people that being disabled dosent mean anything. You can always achieve your goals, dosent matter in which situation you stand.

Ultimately we know deeply that the other side of every fear is freedom.
Marilyn Ferguson (via waisde)
So true! I totally agree, now that I have stood up for my fears, I can finally be free from the ghost and to use the piano freely without any worries.

After what happened with the ghost I felt really relived and calm, now that the ghost is away a lot of my fears have went, not only that but I played on the piano which was something that I haven't done in a really long time and I felt really proud to be a ble to play it amazingly after that while, and now I'm not afraid to use it again. I believe that I was right all along, because if boy willie had sold the piano then the ghost would have haunted us by now or maybe I would be too scared to even write this at the first place.
I learned to face my fears, and when I do they will go, just like the ghost did. I feel like boy Willis is never going to learn his lesson. Even after the ghost incident, I think he would want to sell the piano for the land, even if he said he wouldn't.

A major theme in the book is Isolation. Provide three examples of this throughout the book and also respond to the following: Christopher prefers to be alone, but knows he’s unable take care of himself on his own. Is there a contradiction here? AND why is Christopher okay touching animals, but not humans?
1.       “It was nice in the police cell.”
This might be the first time ever that someone says that. What makes Christopher say that is how he likes being alone.
2.       “And that made me think that there must be millions of miles of train track in the world and they all go past houses and roads and rivers and fields, and that made me think how many people must be in the world and they all have houses and roads to travel on and cars and pets and clothes and they all eat lunch and go to bed and have names and this made my head hurt, too, so I closed my eyes again and did counting and groaning.”
This image – of Christopher sitting on a train, watching the towns fly by from behind glass – really shows us how different he thinks in a isolated way.
3.       “I didn't speak to anyone and for the whole afternoon I sat in the corner of the Library groaning with my head pressed into the join between the two walls and this made me feel calm and safe.”
It would be hard for a lot of people to not communicate with another person for a long time. But Christopher’s isolation eased things out for him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, there is a contradiction. This is due to his condition, Asperger’s Syndrome, which pushes hi to be isolated from other people. He of course needs his parents to take care of him, like how his father cooks for him. He also depends on Siobhan as we can read.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Christopher has Asperger’s Syndrome, and from its effects (as I read on the internet) is that they do not like being touched by other humans. Humans also have complicated emotions which is hard for him to deal with, but animals have simple emotions and he knows exactly what they need from him, so it’s okay for him to touch them without being frightened with surprises or trust issues.

Actress Marlee Matlin is best known for playing characters that don't let disabilities get in the way. It's a role she's been playing most of her life. In this article Marlee Matlin talks about her life in a summed up way. She says that her parents sent her to a hearing school (even though she’s deaf), encouraged her to make new friends, and treated her as any child should be treated. Similar to what Christopher’s father did. Christopher’s father put his son into a school and treated him as any other child, which is good because he wouldn’t let Christopher feel different or unwanted.
“No one should have to choose between being blind or being deaf. We ALL have challenges in life of one kind or another, and I'm sure you will agree that we can achieve much more if we focus on our abilities rather than indulge ourselves in our perceived "disabilities."” I really like this quote in which it shows how Christopher doesn’t focus about his disability or his syndrome but he focuses on what he can do and that is what pushed him to wanting to go A-level in math.

"Violence can be a reasonable response to an unreasonable situation.”
I agree, there are situations that you can’t get out of except if you used violence. It is reasonable to want to protect yourselves or friends and family from harm at any cost, and it’s unreasonable to expect them to suffer that harm instead of using violence to end it.
I don’t think it’s reasonable to start a violence situation, or try to end a peaceful situation with violence. Here, I’m saying that it’s reasonable, but it is bad in most cases. For example, if you had to use violence in order to defend yourself, it’s reasonable to do so. Violence is not an acceptable way to accomplish a task, only an acceptable response to another's application of violence.

The Curios Incident's actors
Tumblr media
As a talented young actor, if the book was made into a movie, Christopher’s role would be played the best as Samuel Joslin (in my opinion). Samuel played Thomas, the middle son of Naomi Watts' and Ewan McGregor's characters, in Juan Antonio Bayonne’s feature film The Impossible, based on the true story of a family ripped apart by the tragedy of the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004. He have acted in couple of other movies also like Paddington. Samuel is a very open person and can stretch into whatever role he is asked to do. Where in both the action and the comedy films he acted surprisingly well.
Donald Warren "D. W." Moffett would play an incredible role as Father. Donald is acting in a series called ‘Switched at Birth’, where he is a Father of three and he tries to solve their problems above his own. Father has some same conditions as what Donald’s character ‘john kennish’ does. That’s why I think that Donald would play a perfect role for Father since he have acted and about the same role before and was pretty good at it.
Lea Katherine Thompson is a perfect fit for Mrs. Alexander’s role, so kind yet worries a lot. Lea also had played in ‘Switched at Birth’ as John Kennish’s wife. She is thoughtful and isn’t really good at keeping secrets, or telling secrets to who is supposed to know them just like Mrs. Alexander.

"There is no such thing as ‘normal’ when it comes to human beings."
‘Normal’ varies from one person to another, so whatever is normal to us might not be normal to another human being point of view. Normal in some people’s eye is a well-adjusted person, happy and fulfilled with their lives. Let’s face it, there no such creature as a normal human being in this case. Society’s point of view and location is what decides if a human being is normal or not. Because society can differ depending on your location, you probably can't find a true normal person. In a worldwide perspective there is no such thing as a ’normal’ human being.
Some people see normal as a physical or a mental thing. In other words if you are disabled or you have some type of mental illness than you’re not normal or you’re incomplete. Which makes no sense because there is nobody that is complete, there are people with average health but have their imperfections like a decreased amount of vitamins or iron or so on. And other people with good health but might have little to no skills, such as concentration and focusing. There is no such thing as ‘normal’ when it comes to human beings.

Christopher's decision
In chapter 179, Christopher decides that he cannot live with his father so he had these choices to choose from:
1.      Living with Mrs. Shears
2.     Going home
3.      Staying in the garden
4.      Going to live with Uncle Terry
5.      Going to London to live with Mother
He then decides that the best choice is to live with his Mother. “I could do it by going on a train” –page 131. After Father knew that Christopher found out that his mother was alive and that he lied to him, Father decides that truth is the best option for now. Father tells Christopher that he killed Wellington. Out of fear that Father might kill him like he killed Wellington, he decides to run away.

what ways do social networking help you connect to the world?
1.  Places
There are a lot of places like restaurants that would have been nothing without social media. Salt for example is a really famous fast food place that started becoming a trend because of how people over the social media were talking about it and posting pictures of it. Other than its delicious food, salt wouldn’t have been famous without social media in my opinion.
2.    News
I know that there are other sources of news, like television and newspapers. Most teenagers however don’t bother reading or watching news. Without social networking our connection to the world news might have been limited to the countries surrounding us or that are near us. Now that we can communicate with the world we can get their news too, and the news spread so quickly that you would rarely miss some.
3.    Brands
Social media contribute to businesses in an unimaginable way. Most businesses wouldn’t have been where they are today without social media. For example, Nike, I’m not saying that it wouldn’t have been famous at all, I’m just saying it wouldn’t have been that famous. Tumblr and Instagram has a big role in making it a brand that most teenagers would want to buy from.
I wouldn’t have eaten from fast food places, knew about some news or bought from brands without social media.

Father hits Christopher......
Christopher’s father found Christopher’s book and what is written in it about Ms. Alexandra and her talk with him. Father got really mad because he didn’t want Christopher to investigate about the dog. Father grabbed Christopher’s hand, and Christopher doesn’t like it when people touch him so he hit him multiple of times. Couple of sentences later, we can see that Christopher and father got into a deep fight, “I was sitting on the carpet with my back against the wall and there was blood on my right hand and the side of my head was hurting. And Father was standing on the carpet a meter in front of me looking down at me and he was still holding my book in his right hand, but it was bent in half and all the corners were messed up, and there was a scratch on his neck and a big rip in the sleeve of his green and blue check shirt and he was breathing really deeply.”
Father later apologizes to Christopher for hitting him and he took him to Twycross Zoo. This shows how father is a really good father. He does get mad pretty quickly, but that doesn’t mean he hates or dislikes Christopher when he shouts at him. The fact that he does all these things and actually apologizing are clues that father loves Christopher and their bond together is really strong and unbreakable.

How does Christopher feel about the world around him..
Chapter 199:
“..people who believe in God think God has put human beings on the earth because they think human beings are the best animal, but human beings are just an animal and they will evolve into another animal, and that animal will be cleverer and it will put human beings into a zoo, like we put chimpanzees and gorillas into a zoo. Or human beings will all catch a disease and die out or they will make too much pollution and kill themselves, and then there will only be insects in the world and they will be the best animal."
Christopher thinks that humans are animals, and will be treated like ones in the future when smarter animals evolve from us. Just like human beings are treating the animals now, putting them in a cage and so on. He thinks that the ‘animals’ that control the world and everything are the best animal (humans are the best animals right now). If humans die from any cause, insects would be left and insects would be the best animals.

This is Lizzie Velásquez, she is a very inspirational character who overcame adversity in a really strong way. Lizzie was born with a syndrome that prevents her from a gaining weight. Lizzie never suffered from her syndrome until she entered school. She looked different from the other children. She said that she found it weird when other children were actually afraid from her. She rarely ever made any friends and tried her best to focus on studying, until that day when she found a YouTube video titled “The ugliest girl in the world” with over a million views, the thumbnail looked very familiar to her so she clicked it to find out that her picture was displayed in the video. She stayed a while alone, speechless from what happened, until one day when she decided to overcome this bad situation. She published two books called ‘Lizzie beautiful ‘and ‘Be beautiful, be you’. She also did a speech in ted. She started a campaign called ‘imwithlizzie’, with tons of celebrities including, Kylie Jenner, Bryce Dallas Howard, Kristen Bell, Brandon Rush, Zachary Quinto, America Ferrera and much more.
