Chan-Mi carefully rearranged her huge clutter of bags. She wanted to shake her head, though she did realise she had been a bad-ass at avoiding the actual collision. “Ah, you are right, I did prevent that,” she said, raising an eyebrow as she complimented herself on a job well done. “Still, your heart is going off the rails, are you alright?” She couldn’t have noticed it if her ears weren’t attuned to the sound of it. The racing of the heart, the running of the blood, a silly thing she focussed on when she had nothing else to occupy her, or a thing she heard when she was talking about the subject anyway. She had learned to control the hunger, but the instincts were still there.
Kadriye feels herself becoming defensive. The simple fact that the vampire before her is so easily able to listen to the pumping of her heart feels slightly like an invasion of privacy. Instead of saying ʻ it's not everyday i almost run into a vampire ʼ she says, ❛ I've just landed and feeling a little jet lagged. I've come from Turkey, and I'm very tired. ❜ ( and not in the greatest of moods ) The psychologist gives a smile, albeit, it's tight, as an attempt to playing it cool despite how on edge she still feels. Kadriye supposes that’s all changing now, with Esra turning. This could be a decent exercise for the elder Yilmaz. She can’t keep the supernatural at arms length forever if she was going to continue rebuilding the relationship with her sister. ❛ ... Do you need a hand there? ❜ Kadriye asks, dark eyes flickered towards the massive bags being cradled in the vampire's arms. Despite her unease, Kadriye's parents instilled manners into their children.

— LOCATION: astoria u — DATE AND TIME: oct. 13 - night — AVAILABILITY: closed | @kadriyeee
His class had finished earlier that evening. Once the last student had left his class, Ezrak grabbed everything and motioned himself outside of the room as well. Although his main objective was simply to lead himself to the parking lot, grab his car and head back home, his treads led him somewhere else. Thoughts would vanish instantly whenever he would be forced to face that his fears of failing with Kiraz was the reason why he ended up at the lecture he found himself in; yet, that was indeed the main reason why his attention was solely at the woman sharing the importance of psychology during early stages of someone’s life.
Kiraz didn’t meet Alara, but she dealt with the absence of her mother. He often wondered how said detail would shape his daughter as she grew older. And he waited— waited until the auditory was empty enough to reach closer to the lecturer. “A few of my students were here, now I’m unsure if they were really interested in the subject or if they just need it for extracurricular activities,” he stated with a small smile resting over his lips for a brief second, “either way, it was great. I can see you’re really good at what you do. Are you busy? There were a few questions that I’d like to ask you. We can do this over a cup of coffee or over a drink, whichever you prefer.. It’s on me either way.”
❛ ... And that’s why understanding the psychology in children is so important. By having a solid understanding of how children grow, think, and behave, parents and professionals working with children can be better prepared to help the kids in their care. ❜ The psychologist paces with auditorium with graceful and sure steps. Her voice rings clear and precise. Kadriye Yilmaz, despite being in a large room filled with more supernaturals than she has ever been, is in her element. ❛ Young people have the right to health and happiness. Children deserve access to effective care to prevent or treat any mental health problems they may develop. Thank you all for coming tonight. Everyone get home safely. ❜
Kadriye would have never guessed that she would be holding a seminar almost three weeks into her two month stay at the local university that was mostly designated for the supernaturals. Yet, here she is on a Thursday night wrapping up a stellar lecture, if she does say so herself. Kadriye, having always being prepared, packs up her laptop, the cord attachments, and her general paper that keeps her on track during the lecture. If it weren’t for the people who had come up to her afterwards, she would have been out of there in record time.
It did surprise her, however, when someone deliberately decided to stay behind until they were the very last person. Kadriye watches the stranger come closer while she shrugs on her coat. ❛ For my own pride, I’ll answer for you and say you're students were here because they were interested in the subject and I didn't just bore them out of their skulls for the last hour and a half. ❜ Genuinely interested in what sort of questions the stranger had, Kadriye gives a few slow bobs of her head, agreeing. ❛ Coffee sounds fantastic. Though, you’re going to have to lead the way. I’ve only been in the city for two and a half weeks and I don’t really plan on learning any directions. Unless, there’s something in walking distance? ❜

𝐘𝐈𝐋𝐌𝐀𝐙 , 𝐄𝐒𝐑𝐀.
Esra had just gotten home from work when the knock on the door came. She didn’t expect anyone but when her older sister was on the other side, the vampire kind of lost it. She stood there, while Kadriye walked past her and put the gift on her counter.
The brunette stood by with her arms crossed and her mouth slightly open. Esra closed it again and shook her head. She let out a laugh, sighed and opened her arms towards her. “Get over here!” She squealed as she stepped towards her.
Esra didn’t even think about how uncomfortable for her sister and stopped almost immediately. “Oh… I… I’m sorry.” She mumbled. “I have things a lot more under control since the last letter.” Esra told her honestly. The vampire didn’t wanted to just jump into things. Her sister was here… with her. That was plenty to celebrate. Esra reached up and wiped a tear she didn’t realize was falling. “It’s so good to see you Kadryie abla. I’ve missed you so much.” She told her honestly in a soft tone.
It felt surreal to be standing in front of Esra. They have always been close. Being so close in age helped with that, but they shared many characteristics. Even still, there was a slight detachment of Kadriye’s own doing. When Esra left, Kadriye had become angry. With her sister and her stupid letters, with her family for not doing more, with herself for allowing Esra to be on by herself for a year while dealing with becoming a new vampire. Though, when it came down to it, her angry was an extension of her pain and her guilt, feeling she’s been working on tremendously over the last year. Her angry was coming from the simply fact that she wanted to be with Esra through this intense transition, and couldn’t. She’s only human. What could she bring to the table? What did she have to offer her newly vampire’d sister?
She doesn’t miss the way Esra moves, how she opens her arms for an embrace and takes a step forward. And then, just as quickly, she’s stopping in her tracks. ❛ Hey, ❜ She begins slowly, taking a small step forward of her own as her features softening significantly, hating that Esra felt the need to apologize. ❛ You have nothing to be sorry about. ❜ Frowning a bit sardonically and tilting her head to one side, ❛ Although, not seeing you for a whole year ... That wasn’t ideal. I think I understand why you did it, but ─ ❜ Kadriye stops herself before she can say anything more and sour what’s supposed to be a happy reunion. ❛ But, we don’t have to talk about that. Not right now. ❜
Kadriye takes her sister in a hug, a tight and warm hug. ❛ Ben de seni özledim Essie ( i’ve missed you too, essie ), ❜ Leaning back, she swipes a few stray hairs away from her sister’s eyes in a motherly fashion before taking her little sister's face into her hands and giving three obnoxious kisses on Esra's forhead and both sides of her face with a humerous laugh. ❛ By the way, what's up with all of the letters? I realize you're a vampire and all, but you were born in nineteen-ninety-five, not in the early nineteen-hundreds. ❜ Kadriye snickers, unable to keep a jest back.

𝐊𝐈𝐌 , 𝐌𝐈 - 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐆.
✧・゚* ☾
Looking down at the carton of eggs, Mi-young suddenly felt as if she was inconveniencing the being in front of her as she technically did need such a resource. “Oh I don’t even eat them either…” Now this was awkward because saying her reason out loud may sound crazy to some if they didn’t know the full context. Instead, she diverted her attention to Kadriye’s response and asked, “Are you alright?” She wouldn’t blame the other if they were to dismiss or provide a generic response. However, it didn’t hurt to ask and just be in the moment.
“Yes, that’s me and my establishment…You’re Kadriye, right? I think I do remember you purchasing from me the other day.” Mi-young replied. While she was proud for founding Kim Logistics with her sire and older brother, she held more pride in You’ll Be Vine given that it was a business she opted to build and invest in. Although it was only established in Astoria, she was impressed with the revenue and reputation it held in the city. “Business owners and CEO…We’re people too…” she announced as if she was reporting the news. Chuckling softly, she shook her head and said, “I will say I do agree with you. Everyday mundane tasks doesn’t seem to be in the question for our ‘lifestyle’.” The vampire threw up some air quotes before looking back down at the carton of eggs and asked, “Last call, are you sure you don’t need these? Truthfully, I only require 2 or 3 to make this cake.”
Confusion settles in and it’s obvious on Kadriye’s face. The way her brows furrow, creating a crease in the middle, which is followed a slight frown forming at the corner of her lips. ❛ You don’t eat eggs either? ❜ She repeats back, looking from Mi-young to the egg carton, then back to the woman, blinking. ❛ Then why ─ Why are you getting eggs if you don’t eat them? ❜ The question comes out at a slower pace than what she usually speaks at, which is definitely much faster. Her mind was so caught up in the fact that Mi-young was about to buy eggs she wasn't even planning on eating ( even though kadriye basically about to do the samething ) that she almost missed the woman's question ─ which caught her off guard, once again.
❛ Hmm? ❛ The sound comes out more as a surprise than anything. The question spins around in her mind like laundry in a dryer. ❛ ─ Yeah, yes. İyiyim. İyi. ( i'm fine. fine. ) I’m fine. Do I not look fine? ❜ The pitch of Kadriye's tone and how high it went suggests that Mi-young doesn't answer that semi-rhetorical question. Because if Kadriye were to answer that a little more honestly, Mi-young would have received something else along the lines of: ‘ i’m in a city i don’t know, i have no friends, i don’t go out, and i have one family member who’s a new vampire and none of our family knows how to handle it ’ Though, Kadriye isn’t overly interested in unloading all of that to someone in a grocery store, as nice as it sounds. ❛ ─ I’m still getting used to the city. ❜
Kadriye affirms Mi-young's question with a nod.❛ I bought your last elephant’s ears, the massive one. It’s currently taking up my whole bathroom. Beautiful, yet invasive. ❜ Kadriye laughs at the woman’s fake anchor voice. ❛ Hey, that was pretty good. You just might be in the wrong business. ❜ Hearing the other agree with her comment, Kadriye nods her head again, slowly while her eyes drift towards the others who go about their day. She had completely forgotten about the eggs as she watches on ; a werewolf with her child picking out cereal. A witch debating if they should pick up basil or mint for the soup their making at home. Mundane tasks for the least mundane sort of people. Interesting.
❛ ... Oh, ❜ Kadriye points to the carton. The dots are connecting. ❛ You’re making a cake. That’s why you need the eggs. That makes so much more sense now. ❜ She gives a small chuckle at her own cluelessness. ❛ No, please, take them. You clearly needed the eggs more than I do. I was going to get them simply because they were the last ones. Getting the last of something has always been incredibly enticing to me. ❜ Clothes, jewelry, furniture, books, you name it, Kadriye will take it.

❛ ☾ ◟━ LOCATION: independent supermarket ❛ ☾ ◟━ TIME: afternoon ❛ ☾ ◟━ STATUS: open to everyone
Today, Mi-young decided to tackle the day with wanting to bake a cake. It was one of those moments where she wanted to do something mundane for once and so, she opted for baking instead. For the most part she would either eat out or do take out, hell even hire a private chef, but today she wanted to do something on her own for a change of pace.
Currently in Independent Supermarket, the vampire was pushing her cart along when she pulled up by the egg aisle. There seemed to be a good deal going on seeing as there were barely any inventory left. Reaching for a carton, she didn’t realize that it was the last one as after noticing that someone else had reached for it as well. “Oh…” Well this was awkward. Meeting their gaze, she stood there and debated on whether she should give it up or not. It’s not like it was a necessity for her, but she did want to make this cake. “…Maybe I could flag down a store associate and see if they have any more in the back?”
Another day in Astoria, another day of Kadriye not knowing what to do with herself. It's been a longtime since the child psychologist has had a moment to herself that wasn't about work. Drinks and going out with friends was scheduled whenever she had the time, which was rare, but she was always able to let loose when she needed to. Now? Now she's been spending her nights in her room apartment and for someone like Kadriye who has a lot of energy to expell, it wasn't working out too well, at the moment. She's re-arranged the items in the apartment several times ( which aren't hers, save for the clothes hung nearly in the closet ).
When she got up, Kadriye had spent the better part of her morning catching up on appointments over zoom. The meetings weren’t in - depth, mostly check - ins with her young patients. It was difficult, being away from them and she did her best to prepare her patients for when she wasn’t going to be in the office and thankfully some of them were old enough to understand when she was going to be away. But some were still young and had grown attachments. Kadriye had agreed with these particular children and their parents that she would do her best in keeping touch. Seeing as she was still technically working, maybe wouldn't deem this a vacation. Kadriye, though, would beg to differ seeing as she hasn't been this schedule free since two-thousand-and-nine.
After saying a sweet goodbye to a young boy named Ayaz, Kadriye sat at the little office desk, and sat, and sat ... Manicured nails tap against the chair arm. Dark hues drift towards the clock on the kitchen counter, adjacent to where she is sitting. Two-thirty-seven in the afternoon. With a heavy sigh, Kadriye gets out of the chair, grabs her purse and leaves the apartment in haste. Needing something, anything, to do. Even if that mean doing a mundane errand like getting groceries.
Ending up at the supermarket wasn’t Kadriye’s first choice. She would have much rather wandered into a clothing store, though, she did need a few items to stock up on. In one of the chilled departments, Kadriye walks slowly, eyes lazily looking through the glass. In an attempt to grab ( something to put in her still empty basket after being here for twenty - five minutes ) any item, Kadriye decides to reach for the last carton of eggs. Though, someone else had the same idea as her. Retracting her hand, the woman shakes her head, ❛ No, take it, ❜ Kadriye gestures to the egg carton before taking a quick step back in order to make room for the other woman. ❛ I don’t even know what I’m doing in this aisle. I don’t even eat eggs. I have no idea why I was going for them.❜ Kadriye makes a face by scrunching her nose ; a look that is mixed between her own confusion and disintrest thought process that seemed to be glitching. Glancing over at the other woman, Kadriye is somewhat surpised to find that she looks familiar. ❛ Mi-young, right? Over at ‘ You’ll Be Vine ’? It's always weird seeing a business owner out in the wild, doing regular things. It's almost akin to seeing a teacher, you know? ❜

𝐘𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐃𝐀 , 𝐑𝐄𝐍.
There was a part of Ren who often kept himself closed off from the world. He was so focused on his work that it was hard for him to ever really take some time to himself and meet new people and form relationships with other people unless they were physical and brief. He knew this wasn’t the healthiest way to live, but it was what worked for the concubi at the moment. Unfortunately, this also meant his circle was fairly close outside of work and he certainly needed to open himself up to other people. He was a bit reckless still with his drinking and partying when he did actually have any free time, but it still wasn’t getting to know people. He navigated in his own ways even if it was talking to random strangers while he was shopping.
“ It is isn’t it?” Ren noted as he looked at himself in the mirror before heading behind the curtain to change back into his other clothes. “ Thank you. It’s nice to have a second opinion, I really appreciate it.” He noted speaking from behind the fabric barrier. He had noticed her in the shop and needed the second opinion, but the next words that had come out of his mouth had been done so without really thinking. He certainly didn’t want to eat alone so it was worth a shot to extend the offer to the person who had helped him make the decision. He pulled open the curtain with the suit in hand before looking over to her again.“ No I came here alone and I didn’t really want to grab lunch on my own. I am asking you, but I fully understand if it’s a no”
Folding her arms across her front, Kadriye presses her tongue against one side of her cheek, mulling over the strangers words. The honesty was appreciated, yet still slightly off - putting. No one simply asks a stranger to lunch, not like this. At least, this is something that Kadriye has ever experienced. It doesn't help that she's been on edge since arriving to Astoria and being asked to lunch out of nowhere makes her weary. ❛ You realize that doesn’t sound normal at all, right? ❜ Her tone is both accusing and skeptical, chin tilting upward every-so-slightly, ❛ Then again, I can’t see things that could be labeled ‘ normal ’ here. ❜ She says under her breath, a musing to herself. For all she knows, this could be another Tuesday for the stranger, randomly asking out people for lunch. One part of her wants to decline. Kadriye isn't from here. She would unfortunatly be at the mercy of following this person around which makes her stomach queasy. One the other hand ... Kadriye is starving and she has yet to know where any of the good spots to eat are, which also makes her stomach unsettled.
❛ ... İyi ( fine ). I’ll go to lunch with you. ─ On two conditions. ❜ The human slips back into her dressing room and closes the curtains as tightly as the fabric would allow her. While once again undressing and redressing, she informs the others about the circumstance. ❛ One, it’s sushi. Two, ─ It's lunch and that's it. Nereden geldiğimi anlıyor musun? ( do you understand where i'm coming from? ) ❜ She could be walking into a death trap for all she knows. If this happens to be her last meal Kadriye is going to enjoy it.

wednesday, september 28th, 2022. 11.08am at esra’s place in birchwood, with esra yilmaz.
Six rhythmic knocks sound against Esra’s door and Kadriye stands wanting with a massive fruit basket cradled carefully in her arms. It’s hard to believe it’s been a full year since she’s seen her little sister and Kadriye couldn’t be more excited than to wrap Esra in an embrace. So, why did she feel so fucking anxious? Sure, Esra was now a supernatural being and Kadriye didn’t exactly know how to process this information which makes her feel confused, and she’s also angry about the situation because Kadriye believes that Esra had been manipulated into become a vampire. She doesn’t have all of the details, but she doesn’t need everything in order to come up with her own conclusion. It infuriated Kadriye, thinking about the sleazebag who took advantage of her sister. If she were to ever find out who turned Esra and they cross her path, they best to their most powerful god because Kadriye will not be giving out any mercy of her own.
With the door swinging open and interrupting her rather violent thoughts, Kadriye’s gaze is quick to fall upon her sister, and a wide smile breaks through the previous tension on her features with much ease. ❛ Küçük kızkardeş ( little sister, )! ❜ For now, the anxiousness and frustration comes to simmer ; her main focus now strictly on Esra. How can she not analyze after everything that has happened? She isn't looking for anything serious. Not yet, anyway. Right now, Kadriye wants Esra to know that she has family in her corner. What better way to show then a surprise visit? ❛ Are you trying out a new hairstyle? It’s working for you. ❜ It's been more than a hairstyle that’s changed Esra, it was the obvious elephant in the room, but Kadriye will come back to that later. ── If she's able to keep her tongue quiet about it, that is.
Slipping past Esra to move into the space her sister calls home, Kadriye finds the kitchen with ease and places the large fruit arranment on the counter. ❛ It was the worst trying to get this through customs, both back home and here. It was worth it, of course, for my sister. It has all the favourites for you. Sultan grapes, figs, cherries, Kirkagac melon, black mulberry, satsuma tangerines, and plums. ❜ Kadryie takes a moment to straighten the plush - pink and silk bow before turning to her sister with the same all - teeth and happy - eyed look on her face. ❛ Oh, right. ─ Sürpriz ( surprise )! ❜

Starter|| Ren Yamada
Settling:Silkwood Mall Availability: Open
Ren’s number one priority when he was off of work for the day was to spend money. The concubi could hear his father voice in his head telling him to just save his money for the future; save it for a family he didn’t have yet. However the CFO worked hard to be able to waste his money and believed it could all come to an end so why not live every day to its fullest. It was why he was buttoning up another shirt while he had a pile of clothes forming to the side. He stepped out to look in the mirror in the business and smirked softly to himself. “ This is a winner right? I think this one is it” He noted before glancing back. “ How about I stop wasting time, pay for this, and we grab some food?” He asked, knowing he had spent way too much time looking around today.
Kadriye had to admit that she had been incredibly impressed by how upscale this mall is. Seeing the photos on Google Maps hadn’t done the building any justice, in her own opinion. After reading about the grand mall, Kadriye wasn’t able to stay away for long, considering how bored and restless she's been feeling lately. She's grown so accustomed to the structured life of schedules, interviews, sessions, and paperwork. Kadriye had been so set on seeing Esra that she had completely forgot about what she was going to do if she ever had any spare time. Such as today, for instance.
After carefully selecting a high - neck, low - back lilac dress and slipping it on, she moves out of her dressing room to pirch herself on a slightly raised pedestal and place herself in front of a free mirror, easily ignoring the stranger next to her. Kadriye lifts up dark hair in order to toss it in a bad example of an updo, and turns to one side in order to see the back of the dress without her hair getting in the way. ‘ this is a winner right? i think this one is it. ’ Dark eyes flicker towards the man who is also checking his own reflection, looking over the suit he’s decided to try one.
❛ It looks good. Navy is a classy colour, and it looks nice on you. ❜ Kadriye humours the stranger with a short and polite compliment before stepping down from the mirror and begins to head back to her dressing room. Though, she stops short when she hears, ‘ and we grab some food? ’ She presses her lips together before turning on her maroon heeled-foot in order to stare back at the man in the nice suit. ❛ I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assuming you’re getting me confused with someone else and not really asking me out? ❜ There’s a smile on her face, but it isn’t a friendly one. It’s sharp, it’s bitting and tight.

𝐀𝐇𝐍 , 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍-𝐌𝐈.
Chan-Mi loved halloween because it had become such a big thing over the years and it was just another reason to overdose the foster kids staying at her place with sugar and watch them all run around like cats on catnip. It was fun, and it seemed to be fun for them as well. If she let them do as they wished, they would learn that sugar wasn’t at all that great, and that their little teeth couldn’t handle it either. She basked in the idea that they would all come to her the next day saying she was right.
Of course, half of the time only one did. But she believed she would get them to learn the lessons she wished to teach them.
She headed out of the grocery store with batch one of five, huge bags of candy and chips, ready to be placed on her front porch when Halloween came around. She looked at her watch to see if she had time to head home before making her way to the clothing stores to collect her outfit. But in her movement she almost walked into someone, using her unnatural speed, she backed out of an almost collision and threw up the bags as if she had just surprised herself. “Look at me!” She laughed then. “Jeez, you’d think with my life experience I know to not get distracted by things like phones and watches. My apologies for giving you a minor heart attack, I know I gave myself one.” She offered a wink.
Up until today, Kadriye had been keeping away from the busier parts of Astoria. Which was most of it. Up until today, Kadriye had been keeping to her little apartment and only really interacting with Esra ─ and even now that seemed to have shifted, leaving her to feel a little mentally discombobulated. Up until today, Kadriye had no real, solid reason to leave her little apartment and go out socializing, which was something she was desperatly missing as of right now.
Now, here she is on an impulse walking through the streets of Astoria ; this was her first time being surrounded by so many supernatural begins at one time, it was a shell shock to say the least, and even that descriptor of how the psychologist felt was an understatement. Kadriye had been preparing herself for this since the moment she decided she was visiting Esra. She had prepared herself for the feeling of unease and uncomfortably, but what was throwing her off was how normal it all felt ⎯ with this not being normal, at all.
Eventually, Kadriye began running out of a few snacks and beverages that she was non - stop devouring out of boredom. Because of this terrible snacking habbit, she had to go back out and restock on a couple of items.
Walking the streets, Kadriye keeps her head down, hands in the pockets of an oversized, wondering if anyone she passes by can smell her discomfort. Maybe they can hear the quick pitter - patter of her heart that she tries to keep leveled with deep inhales. The woman hadn't realized what had happened until she hears an unfamiliar voice that catches her attention. All she felt was a quick wind brushing past her features and the sense of someone in her personal space for a moment. By the time she looks up, the person in front of her had already detrailed the possible collison. Kadriye gives a small laugh from the side of her mouth. ❛ It’s fine. Really. You prevented the run in, so, no need to apologies, right? ❜

MEET KADRIYE YILMAZ
AGE: 31 years old
BIRTHDAY: June 15, 1991
GENDER/PRONOUNS: Cis woman — she/her
OCCUPATION: Child psychologist
PLACE OF BIRTH: Istanbul, Turkey
NEIGHBORHOOD: Birchwood
HAS LIVED IN ASTORIA FOR: 2 weeks
CHARACTER INTERVIEW
What are your reasons to move to Astoria? Will you be moving by yourself or with someone else?
Kadriye’s dark eyes aren’t meeting the interviewers, which she can sense is agitating them slightly; the way that their foot taps against the floor can be heard just as loudly as the fly buzzing around the room or how they desperately attempt to suppress a heavy sigh by breathing through the nose slowly. Kadriye doesn’t mean to be rude her mother taught her better than that, but she can’t help taking a look around the office. There are so many fucking distractions. From the obnoxious number of awards hung-up on the wall, to the messy stack of files ( some, she can see have old coffee rings stamped on the milan folders ), and she can’t ignore the swinging pendulum wave structure because of the constant knocking. Finally, after a solid ten seconds after the question was proposed, Kadriye gives her answer. “ … I’m by myself. I’m here to visit my sister,” The woman raises her dark brows so far that they reach her hairline and gives a smile. Her mood is different from when she had arrived just a few minutes before. Kadriye is happy to talk about her sister. She can’t wait to escape this room and see her in person. “I haven’t seen her in a while, and I miss her.” Kadriye is also worried about her sister, but she was going to keep that note to herself.
What’s something about your personality that you’re proud of? And what would you like to change?
Kadriye isn’t particularly phased by the question. After years of training of asking and being asked and asking this same question, just phrased differently over the years. “Something about my personality that I’m proud of…” She repeats with a small, thoughtful sigh. “This is a little difficult. I’m proud of a lot of things when it comes to my personality.” She doesn’t mean to sound … haughty but growing up in her family gave Kadriye a sense of self at a young age. She’s always had an assertive confidence about herself. “My parents, my family as a whole, – we taught each other to be strong. To be as strong and unmovable as tree roots that curl and anchor themselves in the ground.” That isn’t it though. That isn’t the answer to the question, it’s only a piece. There’s more to it. There’s always more to it. “Because of that strength that my family instilled into me, I was able to adhere to my nurturing side from a young age.” Kadriye was never perfect by any means. In fact, in high school, Kadriye had become two different people. In class, she was an angel. The perfect student. Outside, she got into habits that she can’t mention to her parents today despite being in her thirties. “I was able to figure out that helping people, genuinely helping people and having those people benefit from that help was my superpower.” When it comes to something that she would like to change about her personality, Kadriye is just as eager to give her answer. “I have high expectations. About myself, my family, the people I surround myself with. If I didn’t keep on with these high expectations, I could help improve other’s work instead of being disappointed.” She shrugs, “I’m still working on it, though. The bad habits are always the hardest ones to quit.”
Please elaborate on any violent circumstances you may have been involved with in the past.
Blowing air past her lips, the woman tilts her head to one side. “I used to fight a lot in the playground,” Kadriye gives a chuckle at the memories of how many broken noses she created, scraped elbows she received from being pushed around. “I was small for my age, and it made me an easy target. Or, so the other kids thought.” Kadriye always had the energy to fight back. She wasn’t particularly skilled at fighting, but she was and still is scrappy. She made it difficult for others to take her down and that has never changed. It used to bother her a lot, being underestimated because she was smaller, because she was bad at sports, or because she was simply a woman in a man’s world. She doesn’t mind it anymore. Not as much, at least. Being underestimated always gave her an advantage. No one’s eyes were on her, not one expects much from you when they make pre-judgments and don’t expect anything from you that would create any sort of value to them in the first place. Proving people wrong is one of Kadriye’s favourite pastimes. “I’ve never lay a hand on someone since then. Verbally, though? Well, you could say I’ve been a few verbal beatdowns.”
Your thoughts about supernatural beings.
Kadriye knew this question was coming. This is a country based around supernatural beings and their livelihood. How could this question not be proposed? And yet she couldn’t help the look of indifference that crosses dark eyes. Mauve coloured lips are seen being presses together tightly before her teeth sink into her bottom lip in an attempt to keep the scowl from reaching her whole facial structure. One hand, her sister is a vampire. On the other hand, Kadriye is convinced someone had convinced Esra to become a vampire and leave her family behind. Kadriye loves the letters her gets from Esra, but it’s been a year and it’s not enough for Kadriye to keep writing letters each month. “They’re fine. Supernatural creatures are fine. My sister is a vampire and I love her with all my heart. That’ll never change.” She shifts in her seat once more and presses her lips together, thinking. “As indifferent, or even skeptical, that I am when it comes to the supernatural, I can’t help but be curious. Some on them chose this life, I can’t help but want to know why.” Kadriye wouldn’t say that she would go as far as wanting to know their in-depth stories, not yet anyway. There is an intriguing nature about them. One that she’s trying to ignore, seeing as she doesn’t want to get caught up in any unwanted supernatural business
