I got a surprise package! Well, surprise in that I wasn't expecting it today. I pre-ordered these two last fall, and they showed up on my doorstep today without any shipping notification at all 🤷♀️
They're both from Tiny Teeth, creator of Snughouls! They are Nighty Nightcrawler (dubbed Pants, obviously) and pink wyrm on a string (still needs a name!).
The wyrm has a really great fur texture, it's really fluffy and soft, and it has these "guard hair" type fibers that give it a pleasantly prickly feeling. He's super floppy and cuddly, although a bit understuffed on arrival. That may be because they vacuum packed him, but even after fluffing him up I still wasn't satisfied with his stuffing level so I added some. For people who prefer lightly stuffed ones he'd have been perfect, I just prefer a bit more chunk. He's got a posable tongue, which is neat! He's way bigger in person than I anticipated but I'm not mad about it even though I do not have the space for big plush really 👀
Pants is pretty firmly stuffed in his head/body, and his feet are very weighted so they dangle and flop. It's so cute! His belly badge and feetpads glow in the dark, so I'll have to sit him in the sun for a few hours tomorrow. He's really soft, no rough fur anywhere! His appliqué bits are crinkly too which is nice. The eyes crinkle the most but I don't want to just squish his eyes D:
#does pants know i would do anything for him 🥺#fellow pink wyrm owner! i personally like how floppy they are but i respect wanting a chonky critter#reblog#plush#snughouls

Our Experience Carrying An ESSA As A 25 Yr Old Adult
Alright so! We wanted to write this post to give a first hand account of what having an ESSA (emotional support stuffed animal) you bring with you everywhere is like as an adult! Couple of things to establish for anyone seeing this post who may not know us!
We got our first official ESSA Coffee a little over two weeks ago!
We've had countless ESSAs in the past, but not using that term.
We are 25 years old, employed as a cashier, and are a plural system with autism, ADHD, and who often has meltdowns or panic attacks when overstimulated or stressed!
We live in a small rural town, most our customers already know us as the weird autistic cashier who uses a cane and does weird shit. So, we already have a reputation for being out of the ordinary.
Okay, with that out of the way, we got Coffee on August 7th. We ordered him in the mail explicitly to be an ESSA for us. We learned about the term and saw videos on YouTube and Instagram, as well as browsing the hashtags on this site about them. Having a comfort plushie is not a new concept to us, but the idea of carrying one around with us all the time was one we have done in the past as a young child and even once in high school, but abandoned due to outside pressure factors (mainly negative interactions with peers our own age, as well as adults in our life calling it childish. Keep in mind we were quite literally a child at the time.)
Now here we are, 25 yrs old and found out there was an entire community based on having an ESSA and all the comfort, struggles, and fun that can be had. We were unsure how people in our life would react to us, a full grown adult, carrying a plushie everywhere.
We purposefully chose a plushie on the smaller side, so if needed, we could carry him in our pocket. Coffee is an older ty beanie baby spider, so he is not huge. Here are some photos of him, so you can see his size!

We have a harness made from a bracelet and some keychain rings, as well as a "ESSA" button for him. We've also ordered a name tag for him with our contact information, as well as a leash that has "do not touch, please ignore" on it, that are still coming in the mail.
So it is clear he is not just a random plush we happen to have with us. We have not been out of the same room with him since we got him in the mail. He has been quite literally attached to us, or sitting beside us 24/7, minus restroom and shower time ofc.
So everyone in our life has seen him. So far? Things have went well. We were so excited to receive him we kept speaking about him before he even arrived in the mail. We showed pictures of him to friends and coworkers calling him our son, so when we brought him to work, no one was too surprised.
We didn't make it a huge deal after the initial excitement. We have him attached to our pants via belt loop and a chain made for wallets so we won't lose him and he spends most of our work shift in our pocket, occasionally with his head peeking out.
Overall, people have either ignored him entirely, or complimented us on him. One of our coworkers even asks to pet him occasionally. We've had a few kids say he was cute, and surprisingly, no kids have tried to grab or take him yet. We do try to hide him from children view though, simply to avoid potential issues.
We have had a couple teen boys snicker walking past us, as teen boys will. I assume if we were there age, they may be more outwardly rude, but as an adult it is easy to brush them off as none of them outwardly confront us about it.
Our manager knows about Coffee, and also knows why we carry him. We carry him as a comfort object to help us feel more comfortable and less anxious. We pet him if we feel ourselves getting stressed or overwhelmed, and it helps give us a tactile texture to feel, as well as something to squeeze if we get really upset. He also gives us something to focus on when we disassociate, or otherwise zone out, to try to help bring us back to the moment.
Our manager has been very kind and accommodating, saying that as long as it does not affect our ability to work, it is more than okay to have him with us. Which is such a relief, because our main concern was if it would be an issue with management. If management understands, then whatever coworkers or customers think matters a bit less.
We've only had Coffee a little over two weeks, so I am sure things will continue to happen. But overall, it has been very positive. On several occasions, his presence has helped us avoid meltdowns or panic attacks and has genuinely been a very helpful, positive experience for us.
So, do we recommend carrying an ESSA? If you think it would help you, and you feel safe doing so, go for it! In our experience so far, the only issues we've had at all is a couple offhand chuckles from teens, which is expected in all honesty. But as an adult, a few children thinking our ESSA is weird is perfectly fine. And if any of them get up the courage to actually speak to us about it, we'd gladly inform them of why we carry him and how he helps us. It may seem childish, but it is genuinely so helpful for us.
We will continue carrying him everywhere with us unless we are given a reason not to. He is an absolute integral part of our life and has caused our quality of life to rise greatly, which for something as cheap as a $10 used stuffed spider, is definitely worth the investment. - Jasper
#such a good read!! coffee looks scruffy like a real spider and those big ol eyes are adorable#my experiences are pretty similar actually. there's almost always a plushie with me at my register but it's out of view of customers#back at my first job i would have a furby with me. now it's usually a little jellycat or wittle wonders dragon#it's definitely helped me with my anxiety at work!#reblog#plush#emotional support stuffed animal#emotional support plushie#essa

hey, guess who arrived three days earlier than estimated!! (on monday actually, when i placed the order on friday! i just didn't get around to the photoshoot until now, haha)
name: Jackie (she/they)
skill: SPOOKY!!
favourite food: gummy worms
favourite music: Aurelio Voltaire
notes: she's SO BIG, oh my goodness! here she is with Pepper, for a size comparison:

i also HIGHLY recommend to anyone thinking about getting a Snughoul; get yourself a slicker brush first, that long fur needs a bit of TLC before it's ready to snuggle :] her nose is also a little crooked, but i don't mind that at all, i think it's adorable!
here are some close-ups of the accessories i've given her so far!!

not sure what i'm going to out in the bottle yet!

Also wanted to share this very small customization, this is a WWF tiger I picked up at the thrift store a few days ago. Since washing this little guy lead to the already very faint tiger stripes to almost entirely disappearing I decided to convert him into a little sabertooth, was a really small change but I think it turned out very cute!
#i honestly thought that was an official saber tooth plush that mod is SEAMLESS#what a lil cutie!!!#reblog#plush

What is it with alligator furbys being listed as frog furbys, I get they are both green and all but this happens all the time

This is an example of an alligator who was listed as a frog. Notice the patterns in the fur and black lashes.

This is a frog labeled correctly, they have no patterns and blond lashes.
I get they look the similar but they have very noticeable differences and it just irks me. Justice for the gator furbys!

The Tie-Dye Furby is finished being restored! The before pictures are on top and the after pictures are on bottom.
I'm very happy with how it turned out! This was only my second 1998 restoration, and I think it turned out a lot better than my first. I'm learning better techniques and skills as I go!
I bought this furby at a toy collector's fair. When I bought it, it was dirty, had a yellowed faceplate, bent eyelashes, battery corrosion, and didn't turn on.
Things I did to this Furby: - Skinned - Washed skin using water and Woolite Delicates, using a toothbrush to scrub out any stains - Brushed fur with a pet brush to make it fluffy - Retrobrighted faceplate using 40v hair developer and UV lights - Bent eyelashes into a better shape by heating them with hot water and bending them with my fingers (I know I said I would replace them, but I figured that they weren't bent enough for it to be worth the trouble of completely replacing them) - Cleaned out battery corrosion with white vinegar on a toothbrush - Jumpstarted by spinning the gear - Cleaned gears with isopropyl alcohol - Re-lubricated gears with 3-in-1 silicone oil
The Furby works great now! I bought it from a very nice man who was very excited and happy that I would be able to fix it up to its original glory. I planned to bring it to the next time they have the fair to show him how happy his Furby is now, but unfortunately he passed away a few months ago. I like to think he'd be happy with my work though.
(Also sorry about the lighting differences in the before and after photos, the before photos were taken before I bought my larger Furby shelf that blocks out my window, so I don't have any natural light anymore lmao. So all photos from now on will have the lighting like in the after photos.)
#yooooo that's so clean!!#i've been meaning to try retrobrighting myself the results always look good#reblog#furby#furby restoration
