the difference b/w babycore n age regression

Babycore is an aesthetic based on childhood nostalgia and surrounding by plushies (ex: sanrio, squishmallow etc), toys (especially old toys), innocence, and cutesy fashion. it is a subcategory of Kidcore and Kawaii. although it’s common for ppl in this aesthetic to have a childish personality, it is only purely aesthetic based, not a mindset. think Kidcore, but younger.
Age regression is a defense coping mechanism and medical symptom of mental illness. it’s when you revert to a mindset of a younger state (can range in different ages: baby, toddler, or child). Age regression is more commonly used to cope w/ childhood trauma, stress, anxiety and other mental illnesses. because of its purpose, it should not be sexualized. (while some ppl may “regress” for fun, that is more accurately age dreaming rather actually regressing). it is more common for regressors to find comfort in childlike items (such as: pacifiers, baby bottles, toys, plushies etc) to help them. However it must be importantly known that age regression is a medical symptom and should not be glamorized and romanticized as an aesthetic. Relating AgeRe to Babycore is dangerous. To say Babycore is a subcategory of AgeRe is inaccurate and wrong.
HOWEVER one similarity both AgeRe and Babycore do share is finding comfort in childhood nostalgia. that’s it.
