Hannah openly laughed when the stranger called her an angel. Obviously he didn’t know her very well. “Sure, that’s exactly what I’m known for around here,” she joked. “Well, now that I’ve done my good deed for the day, why don’t you offer to buy me coffee as a thank you?”

“I’m sure. Either way, you’re an angel today.” Kai emphasised, chuckling. He hummed to then shrug. “Sure, I can go for coffee.”

noel:

Noel practically ran across the campus in order to meet kai on time, she always felt awful when she had left people waiting on her and it didn’t help that her class (which had ran unbelievably late) was halfway across campus from where they were meant to be meeting. She opted to walk slowly in the final stretch leading up to him, allowing her to catch her breath before she finally made it in front of him. “Sorry I took forever, my professor wouldn’t shut his mouth about Italian renaissance architecture” she huffed, pulling up the strap on her tote so it rested more comfortably on her shoulder. “Are you ready to go? i’m fucking starving” she told him, motioning for him to get up so they could go get something to eat. “Do you really think Garfield and McGuire are gonna be in the new movie? As much as I want to believe it I really don’t want to get my hopes up just to get let down y’know?”

Kai stopped talking when he noticed how rushed she seemed. “You know you didn’t have to run here. I have all the time in the world for you.” He assured her as he picked his backpack up from the picnic bench. “But at least now we can get going to get you something to eat.” He followed to get them heading in the right direction. “I think Garfield is denying it too hard and McGuire keeps double bluffing everyone. It would be pretty epic if they did show up and I think some of the footage is doctored - especially the fight scene where it looks like all three villains are going in different directions. Plus in the Brazil cut, one of them clearly gets punched in the face without anything being there in the trailer.”

dalton:

            “ oh dang , they already dropped that ?  when does the actual movie come out ? ”  dalton’s a little behind on what’s new at the box office , clearly .  “ does it look good ?  — zendaya’s in it which is always a win in my book . she’s fuckin’ gorgeous . ”

“17th December but the UK are getting it first. I’m contemplating visiting some family back in Scotland so I can see it earlier.” Kai joked. “I think it looks pretty good. I’m excited to see it and hope it lives up to some of the hype. Zendaya is always a star and always does a good job in my opinion.”

ryan:

Ryan was sending off a text to her aunt, looking down at her phone as she walked through the halls of Broadview towards her room, resulting in an accidental collision with one of the other residents. “Shoot,” she looked up, quickly tucking her phone away. “I’m so sorry, I should’ve been paying attention. Are you alright?”

Kai had stood at his own room door - heading back after a pretty exhausting practical class - messing with his door. The lock was acting up and every time he would curse himself for not mentioning it to the student centre while he tried to find the sweet spot with the key. The last thing he expected was for someone to walk in to him. “Yeah, yeah, I’m good. Are you okay?” His hand had automatically rested on her arm in the collision to make sure she didn’t fall but he let go pretty quick once he knew she was steady.

hannah:

“Hello,” Hannah called out again to the person who was walking through campus in front of her. He obviously hadn’t heard her the first two times so, the blonde quickened her pace, tapping him on the shoulder once she’d caught up. “Jesus,” she huffed, out of breath when he finally turned his attention towards her. “I should’ve just kept this for myself,” she muttered, holding up a twenty dollar bill to him. “You dropped this.”

Kai wasn’t in the least bit paying attention as he got himself focused in something on his phone. It wasn’t until a girl turned up next to him out of breath that he pulled the ear bud out of his ear and looked to her. “You g-” But before he could finish checking she was okay, she was holding a twenty dollar bill to him. He was a little confused until she told him he dropped it. His hand slipped in to his back pocket where he realised he was actually missing it. “Oh thank you so much for that! You’re an angel.”

Kai had been sat waiting for someone, watching something on his phone while he waited when a shadow appeared in front of him. This made him pull out his earphones. “Sorry, was watching the latest Spiderman trailer again. They definitely CGI’d some stuff out and I can’t be convinced otherwise right now.” ​

Is that AVAN JOGIA on campus? Oh no, that’s KAI FLETCHER. From GLASGOW, UK, the 22 year old has come to study DRAMA. Rumor has it he is PASSIONATE and INTELLECTUAL, but DEFENSIVE and TEMPERAMENTAL, which is why he is known as THE THESPIAN. He resides in BROADVIEW and can’t wait to graduate.

* // PRE-BIRTH 

Saira and Lachlan Fletcher got married in the summer of 1998 after quite some controversary from both families due to the different ethnicities of each other’s partners. Saira’s family had moved from India to Glasgow to build a new life, a better life, but they never anticipated that their daughter would fall for a white man. Lachlan had met Saira while dating a local Scottish girl who his family deemed as perfect for him so when he dumped this “perfect girl” for Saira, his family were angry. They practically disowned him... until he started doing well financially and they wanted to grab some of that money. Lachlan had a fancy little tech business and when he began doing more work with companies over seas, they came crawling back to him. Saira’s family were still not happy with the arrangement but when they found out he was making money and supporting Saira as well as proving he loved her without trying, they forgave him. 

Parents families didn’t agree with the marriage but they said fuck it.

They soon changed their minds when Lachlan (his dad) started making bank.

* // CHILDHOOD

Not long after the marriage, Saira found out she was pregnant and with a baby boy. His mother wanted to call him Jai and his father wanted to call him Malachai so they settled on a way to add both names by naming him Kai. His dad was still in a deep upstart with his own business, working away a lot when he was growing up which led him to being raised mostly by his mum. His mum was a lover of movies, music and art. Anything creative, you can bet Saira loved it. Kai was raised to love creative mediums and one that he particularly enjoyed was drama. He loved being on a stage with a spotlight which led to his mum putting him in to acting schools. Saira was the type of mother to be so supportive. She was there for everything and never wanted to miss a moment. However, his childhood was going to be rocked when his mum started to get ill when he was around 5 years old. Despite her young age of just 35, she was diagnosed with early on-set dementia. She began to forget things more often. She became paranoid about things. Wouldn’t leave the house. One of the things Kai always remembered her saying when she had found out her diagnosis was to always remember the importance of family... sometimes it’s all you’ll have. Over the next four years, he watched his mum deteriorate until she didn’t even recognise her son anymore. She’d be scared of her husband and her son which was heartbreaking for such a young kid to go through. One night when he was 10, he just remembered his dad calling his grandparents to pick him up. It turned out he didn’t want his son to see his mum’s dead body in the bedroom while he dealt with everything. She died in her sleep at the age of 40.

Raised mostly by his mum who supported him doing drama and stage schools

Mum ended up dying of early onset dementia after five years of losing her memories

* // AMERICA

During the grieving process, Kai’s dad had the opportunity to set up new branches of his successful business in America and jumped at the opportunity to get away from Scotland. Lachlan moved himself and Kai to San Diego and set up a home there. Kai was still pretty heartbroken about his mum but he did still thrive in America. As an actor, he knew how to hide his emotions and didn’t take too long to get himself in with popular crowds at school. He was never the bullying type but he knew how to get around situations and knew how to defuse situations. After about a year in America, his life would suddenly be rocked again when his dad suddenly unveiled that he was getting married again after two months of dating a woman who worked for him. Now Kai had three new step-siblings suddenly in his space. He did his best to welcome in his new family but he still struggled with the idea of his dad getting married. However one thing that kept going through his head was his mum telling him to always support his family and their choices because it would be all he had left at the end of the day. Kai welcomed his new step mum and family the best he could with hiding his true emotions. There was only one sibling he couldn’t get along with at all. He disliked the way she spoke to his dad at times which often led to Kai getting defensive for his dad. It was the only time he really broke his composure about how he felt about the situation. Everything else he kept hidden. 

His dad remarried after a year of grieving giving Kai a new step-family

Fights with step-sister often but mostly hides how he truly feels about his new family

* // MONARCH

Kai has been at Monarch for about four months now, taking some time to settle in over the summer and started classes in September. He is a part of Book Club and the Shakespeare Club. He is also a Critic writer for the movies that comes to The Darkroom cinema on campus as part of his course. He’s settled in pretty well and has never let his facade falter. He keeps up his pretty chill atmosphere most of the time. His step-sister, Drew, goes to Monarch too but mostly he just avoids her where he can for the sake of not having to deal with any drama and keeping to himself.
