"I never understood that to be honest. If someone is good enough to play the game then their gender should not matter."
"You know, with it being more than halfway through 2025, I really thought we'd know better to tell girls they can't play ice hockey, but some fucking dickhead father was pissed off that this like ten, eleven year old girl was better at hockey than his son was. He told her he should be in the kitchen instead and he got really mad when the dad of the little girl sucker punched him. I told him he deserved it and he could come back if he fixed his attitude and he was still pissed. Took his son and left. Good riddance if you ask me." @rededgerpstarterblog

"You should have let me handle him." Kai looked at Illiana. "People like that asshole need to be taught a lesson the hard way."
"Thank God that guy is gone, he was really starting to piss me off." Illiana admitted and looked at her friend. "How hard is it to comprehend the word 'no' anyways?" @rededgerpstarterblog

"Wow, that really is a bunch of shitty luck." Kai looked at Aspyn. "Hopefully tomorrow is better for you."
"I've had the worst luck today." Aspyn exhaled. "I woke up late, my favoite pair of jeans have a whole right where the crotch is, my flat iron broke, I spilled coffee over my white shirt and my charger broke. I know mercury is in retrograde again, but who the fuck did I piss of for all that to happen to me today?" @rededgerpstarterblog

"I think you're an idiot, how is that for a subject change?" Kai looked at Aiden and shook his head. "You can't keep changing the subject every time I bring it up."
"I mean, sure, yeah. If that's what you want to go with." Aiden chuckled. "Let's change the subject though, yeah?' @rededgerpstarterblog

"It is not a lie." Kai laughed and looked at her. "Come on now Daphne, you are one of the toughest people I know."
"I do call him pretty boy to his face." Daphne laughed. "Every single chance he gets and he doesn't deny it." She shrugged. "That is such a nice compliment. It's a lie, but I'll take it."

"Well since it's your first time, I'll go easy on you. Don't expect me to go easy next time though." He chuckled and walked to the sparring mat with Alexa.
She chuckled at his question and shook her head, nope, she couldn't reply to that the way her head was going. " Then I'm ready to hate you... " she said, feeling a little intimidated as she stepped inside the mat. Being her first time doing itz she was more of a yoga person.

"Are you really now?" Kai teased with a chuckled. "Oh come on Nova, you know I won't work you too hard. I mean, unless you want me to."
"If you don't shut up I'm gonna go find Rico." Nova rolled her eyes, but there was a smile on her face as she spoke. "Yes I'm ready to train and cry about how hurt I am in several hours." She laughed.

Kai nodded at Rico as he walked past him with Tanner and chuckled. "Well if you insit that I work you until you beg me to stop, I can very much do that for you."
Tanner stepped into the gym, giving Kai a pointed look. He didn’t flinch at the coolness of his tone. Instead, he cracked a grin. "Strike one, huh?" Tanner said, raising an eyebrow as he stretched his arms out. "Guess I better make sure I don’t hit strike two, then." He glanced over at Rico, giving a small chuckle. "I’ve been in the ring with worse. But I’m not here to waste your time. Let’s get to it." He took off his jacket and tossed it aside, walking toward the training area. "You’ve got me for the next hour. You better make it count." He cracked his knuckles.

"I mean, some people are good at making music, I'm good at making beer analogies." He laughed and looked at him. "I fucking home so becuase I feel like I have no clue what I'm doing most days." He admitted and looked at him.
"Oh I get it, I like keeping my peace too. Like you, I don't have any drama. I don't have time for that shit to be honest. It's not worth it to me, you know?"
Nash grinned, shaking his head as he listened to Kai. "Man, you and your beer analogies. Always had a way with words." He teased before his tone grew a little more serious. "But I hear you on the whole moms-hating-boxing thing. It's a tough fight, but you're doing the right thing. Keep pushing. It'll make sense eventually." When Kai asked about him, Nash let out a breath, leaning back a little. "Breaking hearts? Nah, not my thing. I mean, maybe a little drama here and there, but I’ve been keeping a low profile. I like my peace, you know? No need to stir things up when I can just keep to myself and do my own thing." He gave Kai a sideways glance. "As for you, man…you still got that charm working, or have you gone soft on me too?"

"So what's next for you? Like relationship wise?" He asked. "You gonna be single for a while? Realize who you are again?"
"I did, yeah, I mean it wasn't like he controlled me or we had a horrible relationship or anything like that." She promised Kai. "It just...I don't know, when you get out of a relationship that's going nowhere, it feels amazing."

"You know, that wouldn't surprise me to be honest." Kai chuckled and looked at her. "How are you doing though, Fuentes? Keeping out of trouble? Or as much as you can?"
"Excuse you Howard, you might be bigger than me in every single way, but I'll still kick your ass." She said, her tone was playful, she knew she couldn't actually fight Kai, not that she would. She never had much trouble with people wanting to fight her, but some of the customers at Florez Bar had become more and more...handsy lately and she wanted to be able to fully defend herself.

"You know what? I'd believe that." Kai laughed and looked at him. "Oh I know you're not, you're one of the few people in this town that isn't." He shrugged. "Sweet, let's go, and then you can bitch and moan after you're done."
The rhythmic thud of fists against heavy bag leather echoed through Red Edge Gym, sharp and deliberate, like the ticking of a metronome set to fight tempo. Kai stood in the dim light filtering through the high windows, shirtless, skin glistening faintly with sweat, platinum hair catching every flicker of neon from the "No Pain, No Glory" sign overhead.
His breathing was calm. Controlled. Like a man who knew exactly how much force to exert, and when to pull back.
"You're late," he said, not looking up as he pulled his wraps tighter, voice low but firm. The butterfly tattoo on his chest shifted slightly with every movement, wings spreading across the sharp lines of his body like they were ready to take flight—or sting. "That’s strike one. Two more and I put you in the ring with Rico. And he doesn't go easy."
He finally looked over, eyes cool but unreadable. Then came a faint smirk. "Well? You coming to train or to waste my time?" @rededgerpstarterblog

"Oh trust me, I know." Kai looked at River. "We could do a poker night once a month, get some friends involved and just have fun."
"Dude I fucking get it. That was me all of last month."

"Oh Rico would love it if you called him a 'pretty boy' to his face, I think you should do it." He smiled at her. "Oh that I believe, I've seen you just practice, you could give the Avengers a run for their money." He laughed.

Kai smirked, leaning back slightly in his chair, the dim lighting catching the edge of his grin. “Ghosting is a skill—can’t lie. But being mysterious and vaguely questionable?” He gave a low chuckle. “That’s elite tier. Almost makes me wanna step up my game just to keep up.”
At the mention of Sienna and the town’s rigid vibe, Kai nodded, eyes flicking over the menu with idle interest. “Sienna being a tastemaker and a control freak is the closest thing to a natural law we’ve got,” he said, amused. “And yeah, I’m climbing again. Keeps my head quiet, you know? Plus it’s the only thing here that doesn’t require a permit and a three-week approval window.”
He raised his glass once it arrived, purple drink catching the light like a neon dare. “Here’s to old times—and making new ones that might actually make the mayor sweat a little.” He clinked his glass lightly against his friend’s, then added with a grin, “Let’s ruin the vibe just enough to make it interesting.”
Kai grinned wide, setting his phone down and leaning in, eyes crinkling with amusement. "Julian, man, finally. You ghost harder than half the spirits in Red Edge. Good to see you."
He gave the beet latte a pointed glance, then shrugged, completely unbothered. "Drink your purple potion, I’m just glad you showed up in one piece. Kinda suits you, though—mysterious and vaguely questionable."
Flipping open the menu, he added, "Alright, catch-up time. Sienna's still a perfectionist with god-tier taste, I’ve started climbing again, and you missed at least two legendary bonfires. Your loss."
Kai shot him a look—warm, teasing. "But you're here now. So let's get weird food and ruin the vibe with our volume. Just like old times."

Kai nodded and looked at Wyatt. "That's smart, the last thing any of us need is a kid getting accidentially knocked out." He chuckled. "Well don't worry Baxter, we'll fix that for you."
