Fish screeched to a halt and turned around, seeing the purple corpse and rusted pipe under the elite.
“{ That’s an assassin! They usually pretend to be dead and jump anyone who comes close! Now hurry and get over here before any more try to jump us! }”
He turned back around and got to the chest, opening it immediately.
He pulled out a disc gun, a bazooka, and...
Fish couldn’t believe his eyes. It was probably the most beautiful thing he’s seen in so long.
He reached in and pulled out a massive, shiny new Double Minigun, and dropped it slowly on the floor in front of the chest. Fish ran over the barrels with his hands and stared at it’s powerful beauty.
Tumblr media
“Jackpot.”
He picked it up and strapped it to his back. As much as he wanted to use it, he needed to reserve ammo for now.
Tumblr media
“{ One of you can get one of the other weapons. We need to go before anything else gets here and starts shooting at us. }”
Fish turned and tried continuing down the path, but a bullet sped by his head and hit the wall next to him. He stopped and looked from where the bullet came from.
Two snipers, and a flock of crows besides them, watching.
Fish’s eyes widened as he rolled behind cover, out of sight from the snipers.

Tumblr media
“{ There’s more than just the dog you gotta stay aware of out here. You’ve already probably dealt with a few crows before we bumped into eachother, but they’re not that much of a hassle. Then, there’s the robot snipers. They’r these little mechanical one-eyed tin cans with a high powered rifle that can hurt you bad if you’re not careful. They’re a bit fragile, but pretty explosive too. So make sure you’re a good distance from em’ if you’re shootin’ at one. }”
They reached another turn in the path. Fish pushed himself against the wall and peeked over the corner. He saw a group of bandits and a couple crows all grouped around a metal barrel with fire coming out from the top. Two bandits were sleeping on top of a car near the barrel, and the others kept watch. Another thing caught Fish’s eye when he was looking at the group of baddies...
A weapons chest! They must be guarding it.
Fish signaled the other two to stay behind while fish slowly emerged a bit from the corner and pointed the golden revolver at the barrel, and took the shot. He immediately took cover behind the corner and a massive explosion was heard from down the path. The body of a crow splat against the wall near them, splattering it with blood. Fish gave a small chuckle.
“{ Ouch. }”
He turned the corner with his weapon pointed down the path and looked at the mess. The weapons chest was unharmed and all the enemies were gone.
Tumblr media
“{ There’s a weapons chest over there. If we hurry, we can- }”
The body of a bandit flopped onto the ground in front of him. Fish yelped and pointed the gun at the body. He shimmied over to it and kicked it with his foot. The bandit was definitely dead.
“{ ...As I was saying... if we hurry, we can get to that chest and maybe get some better weapons before anyone comes to check out where the explosion came from. Let’s go. }”
Fish ran over down to the path towards the weapons chest.

Tumblr media
“{ That big three-headed beast is ‘Big Dog’. At least, that’s what everyone calls it. It’s usually pretty passive, but when it’s hungry, it can get pretty cranky. It get’s worse when you wake it up when it’s trying to sleep. }”
Fish looked at the fin on his right elbow. There was a tear in it.
“{ Found that out the hard way. }”
They reached a fork in the path. The path to the right a couple old, rusty cars in it. One of them was lined in some kind of gold paint. If it was paint. The left path had scorch marks all over the walls, burnt spots of grass, and a skeleton of a fire salamander. It was fresh, as if it was picked clean. Fish looked down both paths, and started going into the left
“{ This way. }”
When he walked by the fire salamander skeleton, he got a closer look at it, then mumbled something in trash talk.
Tumblr media
“...Damn crows picked it clean.”
He picked off a funny looking bone from the skeleton and kept it in his hand. He believed that that very bone he picked was lucky. And in this place, anything considered lucky is treated as if it was a gift from the heavens. He turned to the two ex-officials and threw the bone down in front of them.
“{ It’s a lucky bone. Keep it close; you two are gonna need it at this point. }”
He turned around and continued.
“{ Anyways, this Big Dog fella is not a force to be reckoned with. It’s a walking fortress who can spray the area with walls of bullets, and can fire heavy artillery missiles at ya in threes. The bullets aren’t impossible to dodge, though, and the missiles are pretty slow, but I’d rather not go toe-to-toe with that mutt again. }”
∞ - Katja stayed silent, and didn’t seem too fazed by the revelation for some reason - she didn’t know the radiation part about the story of Lil’ Hunter, but either way he was dead in that sense, even if just metaphorically. The IDPD didn’t want anything to do with mutated creatures, be they their own officers or mutants of this world. Just another reason to keep the respirator and the helmet on. Yejun, on the other hand, was positively perplexed, staring at Fish with a frown.
∞ - “{What?! Why would they hide th-…what’s with your, uh - mmph!}” the grunt exclaimed as he and his partner were pulled against a cliff and held shut. The elite inspector in particular looked as if she was going to break the mutants hand for coming this close, until she eventually realized the danger as well, eyes swiveling upwards and the golden antennae on her head raising silently almost like a pair of ears. Oh boy, that thing was big.
∞ - As soon as the danger was gone and Fish released them she swiped a few times over her respirator with the back of her glove in annoyance while following her two companions, keeping the tech in her helmet activated so she could sense it if the creature came back. “{I’m not too surprised.}” she admitted, then asked with a frown: “{What was that?}”

Fish chuckled again.
Tumblr media
“{ The Captain sure does keep a lot of info from you, doesn’t she? }”
He turned and looked at the two.
Tumblr media
“{ Lil’ Hunter is far from dead. He’s taken a very painful trip down mutation lane, if that makes any sense, and now he’s flying all over the wastelands killing anything that moves. The radiation got to the poor bastard’s head and now he’s kinda insane. }”
Fish heard a noise and his uh... flaps... perked up. He grabbed the two and held their mouths shut while hiding them, as well as himself, behind some cover.
He listened and looked up the litle cliff they were pinned against. It sounded something big was passing by. After a while, a massive, three headed dog-like creature stopped right at the edge of the cliff the fugitives, as well as fish, were hiding under. It looked around and sniffed the air, then huffed and turned back around, walking away.
Fish let go of their mouths and went out of cover.
Tumblr media
“{ Something tells me we aren’t the only hungry ones looking for something to eat around here. }”
He started down the path, unsheathing his weapon and moving at a bit of a faster pace than before.
“{ Come on, we need to hurry. }”
∞ - “{…Sounds useful.}” Yejun answered after a moment. He was tempted to reply ‘you sure look like one’, but he didn’t. While he didn’t particularily care for his own well-being, he admittedly didn’t want Katja to starve to death out of pride and so he thought it to be better to not disgruntle their guide accidentally, especially not with their current status of being part of an obviously despised dempartment.
∞ - “{Oh-! You were refering to Lil’ Hunter. I thought it was like a last name or something.}” the grunt clarified, finally understanding. “{From what we’ve been told, he died on a mission or something. Right?}” he asked Katja.
∞ - “{He was on another mission, but failed it. That was some longer time ago.}” she confirmed partially, looking at the sky in case ravens were approaching.

Tumblr media
“{ I wouldn’t exactly call it cannibalism, especially since I’m not exactly a fish. Fish breathe underwater and only underwater, and I ain’t choking to death, so there’s your answer. }”
Tumblr media
“( The gills help with breathing underwater, though. )”
The grass rubbed against his feet as he peeked around a corner to see if anyone was there. Luckily, nobody was in sight. Fish turned the corner and continued on.
Tumblr media
“{ ...Say, one of you two said you didn’t know about Lil’ Hunter, right? }”
∞ - “{Those snacks are probably already rotten anyway.}” the grunt replied, taking a few steps forward to follow the mutant… …only to backtrack again and grab the arm of the still-stubborn elite inspector so she would come along. “{Get a hold of yourself.}” he mouthed to her, slowly growing annoyed with her antagonistic attitude. “{I thought I was the one hellbent on dying here.}”
∞ - Katja herself didn’t really have anything to shoot back as a response, by now simply too exparated with everything. She’d team up with a mutant when hell froze over and not a second sooner, but on the other hand the prospect of starving was something far more menacing. Besides, it was technically Yejun who asked for help, not her. Staying alive out of sheer spite sounded good either way, and maybe she could let out some anger on the enemies they were going to encounter.
∞ - “{Er, don’t worry. We’re not that desperate for food. But wouldn’t you eating cooked fish technically be cannibalism?}” Yejun askes as he caught up with Fish, letting go of the others sleeve once she finally started moving on her own. That was actually a pretty interesting question, now that he thought about it… Katja in the meanwhile drawed her energy rapier with a low hum. Cutting things up definitly wouldn’t be a problem with this - at best it would already be cooked while sliced.

Fish couldn’t help but chuckle a bit. It was too obvious these two were new to the wastelands.
Tumblr media
“{ Well, yes, of course. And I might as well tell you know, I already learned trashtalk from eavesdropping. It just took me some time to get adjusted to. }”
Tumblr media
“{ As for your hunger problem, I happened to see some kind of snack machine somewhere else around here. Only problem is I was too busy trying not to get shot up by crows to get a good look at it. I’m not sure if it’s empty or not. I also shot up a fire salamander just before I saw you two, but I didn’t have anything to cut it up with, and once I DID, those damn crows got to it while I was gone. Doesn’t mean we can’t find and kill another one }”
Tumblr media
“{ You’ll like fire salamander. It sorta tastes like cooked fish. }”
He chuckled again.
Tumblr media
“{ Seriously, though. If you try and cook and eat me I’ll kill you both faster than you could say ‘fish out of water’. Follow me, I saw some other fire salamander ‘bout a mile away from here. }”
He turned around, unsheathed his golden revolver, and started walking towards a little bit more of a grassy area.
∞ - “{We both knew what we were getting ourselves into.}” Yejun clarified before the other could make an angry retort because Fish had just make it sound like teh IDPD betrayed them. “{We just weren’t expecting to come out of it alive. Also, sorry buddy, but I don’t really remember anyone called ‘Hunter’.}” The title was vaguely familiar to him actually, but he wasn’t able to associate it with anything specific.
∞ - Katja merely gave a shrug in response to what Fish said, then folded her arms again and broke eyecontact once more. Though, much to her dismay Yejun knew her better than that by now. She wouldn’t normally let that sort of an answer let go by without comment. “{OPQ or OPK, she actually has no idea either, trust me.}”
∞ - “{Oh well, you go and try to learn a language from eavesdropping alone and then we’ll continue talking!}” she huffed, annoyed at Yejun for embarassing her, and annoyed at the mutant for doubting her talents. No way she was going to admit that they both needed some help in adjustment, not to mention that all this talk about dying unsettled her. As it happened, however, the grunt had far less reservations about both of that. “{Whatever. Listen, you know your way around, right? I guess we’re kind of in the same boat, so mind helping us a bit in finding something semi-edible? Pretty sure three weapons are better than one.}”
∞ - A muffled comment complaining about something ‘despicable’ came from the elite inspector.

Fish plopped a little card case that was in pretty good condition. Y’know, for a post-apocalyptic world.
Tumblr media
“I found this somewhere around the campfire once. It’s in pretty good condition, but I’m not sure what kind of card game this is.”
He opened the case and pulled out a stack of only slightly damaged cards with the words  “MAGIC The Gathering” on their back sides, and little illustrations of creatures and a bunch of other stats, probably of the illustrated creature, on the front.
“...Do you happen to know how the hell any of this works, by chance?”
Trading Cards are COOL (RP)
Tumblr media
The bandit drums her fingers along the rusty hood of the car, her bum seated on an empty (hopefully) barrel of toxic waste. She could’ve been texting the kids to make sure they were ready for pickup when the shooting range closed, or learning more about memes, to the despair of everyone around her. Instead, Fish wanted to play a card game. Go Fish? Fin Rummy? Five card… she couldn’t think of anymore fish related card puns. So she got ready to release her two really good ones as Fish showed up. “So, what are we playing, popo?”

Fish groaned at the mention of the Throne.
Tumblr media
“{ ...Well I reached it and destroyed it already. In this dimension, at least. But you can’t be mad at me for something like that. }”
He crossed his arms.
Tumblr media
“{ They’re the ones who decided it was a suicide mission and left you and that Hunter fella for dead. }”
Fish looked around again, then back at the two stranded ex-officers.
Tumblr media
“{ Well, I can understand how that’s classified. If I remember anything, though, they were definitely a step above the IDPD. But you gotta stop n’ think: is it really worth hiding anything from us when you’re basically stuck here until someone decides to kill you and let your corpses rot in a barren wasteland? }”
Fish paused, suddenly snapped his fingers.
“{ OPK! They were called the OPK. }”
Another awkward pause.
“{ ...Uhm... anyways, you gotta get it through your heads that you’re probably stuck here until you die. We both know they aren’t coming back for you any time soon, so you might as well adjust to the new environment. }”
Tumblr media
“{ Plus, your trashtalk could use a little more work. Heheh. }”
It was odd how comfortable this mutant was talking about dying and such. Then again, he’s been living in these conditions for a while now, so it shouldn’t be a huge surprise.
∞ - The IDPD (ex-)officers listened with interest to what Fish had to say, especially because neither of them had witnessed any sort of break in their defenses personally. The headquarters were huge, almost a city in their own right - it was easy to miss something just because you were in the wrong part at that time. And it was just as easy to hide plenty of things so nobody else ever noticed them, be that a mutant breaking directly into the office of the Captain or even a two-story tall person.
∞ - “{If you would stop going after that damn Throne thing, then neither of us would have any problems or have to do with each other.}” Katja retorted in annoyance, hands on her hips. Even she didn’t seem terribly upset over what Fish had done, though it was mostly she half didn’t believe it that he had encountered the Captain and lived to tell about it, and second it was because he had obviously not been the only one to break in. Over the past months while she had been in duty it seemed to have become more and more common.
∞ - “{OPQ? Never heard of that. But then again I’m not terribly high up in rank.} Yejun answered, still mostly intrigured about what he had meant with ‘having something in common’. He looked at the inspector. “{What about you?}”
∞ - “{….That’s classified.}” she merely answered, folding her arms and looking to the side. In truth, she had no idea. But the logical conclusion of that was that she wasn’t high enough in rank to know about it either, and thusly it was too important to let a mutant know anything more about it, even if that ‘more’ was a lack of information.
