France is making supermarkets donate all of their unsold food.

The Guardian reports that the measure passed the French national assembly in a unanimous vote, with center-right deputy Yves Jégo telling parliament that “There’s an absolute urgency – charities are desperate for food. The most moving part of this law is that it opens us up to others who are suffering.” If they do not donate the food, stores will have one other, eco-friendly option.

Vienna’s traffic signals just got a wonderful LGBT upgrade
To celebrate the upcoming Eurovision song contest and the Life Ball, Europe’s biggest HIV/AIDS charity event, the local government replaced a number of traditional crossing signals with pairs of straight and LGBT couples. And as one lawmaker said, they might be doing more good than just raising awareness.

A California judge just declared abstinence-only sex ed illegal.

A California law passed in 2003 prohibits sex education curriculum that contains “medically inaccurate or biased information.” So when parents found out their kids’ text book taught abstinence until marriage and excluded info about preventing pregnancy and STIs they went to court. A judge agreed — and made history in America.

Fox didn’t want you to see these $179-million dollar nipples.

On Wednesday, in a story about the record-breaking sale of Picasso’s Women of Algiers (Version O), Fox5NY blurred out the breasts because they were deemed too scandalous. You know, even though the piece is a well established masterpiece. How is this something to be afraid of?
