☆ CAS Challenge: Create-A-Circus ☆

ANOTHER CHALLENGE, ITS BEEN A WHILE BUT WE BACK!

Initially, this was a clown challenge, but the cool peeps over on my discord started talking about a whole circus soooo here we are for now haha! (dw, i still wanna do a standalone clown challenge, and I will do that soon!) As the rules state, feel free to reroll whatever you need for the challenge to be bearable. If you do not own a physical d20, you can use this one here!

I'm curious to see what you guys will cook up with this, make sure to use the tag #createacircuscas so I can see all your circus babies! (Tag me as well!) Bonus points if you guys think of stories with these sims, I will be violently consuming them.

Very disappointed in the Sims community and their very vocal distain towards Black Simmers for begging for a Caribbean/African themed world, especially because they're literally SO MANY American/European themed worlds...like there's even 3 Asian/2 Latinx themed worlds and we barely have 1, EVEN THE DAMN IMAGINARY STAR WARS WORLD BUT NO...we get edges, hairs, SOME clothing, but not a world? Like the closest thing we have to anything Caribbean is the St.Feu household that Maxis created, and even then that's JUST A HOUSEHOLD ON THE GALLERY. Stop silencing BLACK Simmers, like y'all show y'all asses every time we speak our opinions or real shit. A whole account was suspended because of the mass reporting just because a Black Simmer asked to be represented...I hate how even in the big year of 2025, over 25 years of The Sims, it's never enough being a Black Simmer.

We're lacking just so many cultures in this game and the sad thing is that it's REALLY hard to make them work even if we try to because everything must be white usamerican suburb shaped 😒 "oh but we have cities-" I'm talking about the neighborhood framework. It's all those separated lots and you can even place walls on the last block. Why.

You know what I want, AT THE VERY LEAST? This:

This is Cape Town. But to be really honest? I didn't know what suburbs looked like in South Africa, which is an information that simply didn't reach me until now, but this is ALSO exactly what a suburb looks like in Brazil and now I'm happy to know I'm not alone in being pissed with the usamerican way every single sims world is built.

Sorry I kinda missed the point for a second there, it was just the human connection that transcends barriers again, [clears throat] anyway! All i wanted to say is that you don't need to live in the african continent or to be black to want an Africa inspired world, and saying "Africa inspired" is the LEAST they could ever do because what even is something "Africa inspired"? It's the same thing to say "South America" inspired and shove every single stereotype in only one world- ah, yeah. It has already happened. Well! It would be the same to say "european inspired"! But that would never happen, right? Since right now we have a [unfolds list] germanic world, scandinavian world, italian world... Did I forget any?

You don't need to be oh so cultured to want more diversity in your game, to honor such a big part of your fandom with representation, since black simmers are really the BACKBONE of this community and all they get is some hairs once in a while. All you need is a bit of common sense. And good taste. But EA and their bootlickers have none of it <3

Sims modders/CC creators, this is for you...

PLEASE put your name in your filename. One, someone will have a clue who it's by when they go to find more by you or to finally organize their Mods folder. Two, you're less likely to end up with the exact same filename as another creator.

PLEASE put your name FIRST in your filename. Alphabetization is super useful. It's less useful to alphabetize by the cute name you gave that hair or set of chairs.

PLEASE, for the love of all things Sims, consider not only using your initials. My Mods folder now has three different creators whose files start "MM". There might be even more of you MM's out there.

hi! I'm copy-pasting this to a bunch of sims players so, sorry if you've seen this ask before!

But I basically just want to ask how do you prep or upkeep your save files?

I want to compile a list of resources, either mods that help not spawn random looking NPCs or townie dumps etc. (I know about npcc but that mod is retired now I think) Also I'm curious as to how people update their Legacy saves so they won't get boring or filled by random NPCs.

I often go and manually delete NPCs or add gallery lots but that's very time consuming when you're playing in a laggy laptop and I usually don't have much time to play, so, yeah! Anything you can think of, as random or as specific, helps!

I use mccc import tray settings to control the townies my game populates. I never have to delete townies since all of the ones in my game have been hand selected (so to speak).

Go to mc population/ population settings / import tray settings

My settings are:

import tray settings: 100%

import tray sims type: all saved sims

import tray by tags: any save sim

limit import by tags: only include tags (so only households I have tagged will be used)

include gender options: enabled

include clothing: enabled

import sim name: skip sim if name exists (prevents duplicate townies)

import bypass appearance: disabled

Then I add the tag #mccc_include to all households that I am okay with the game grabbing townies from. While in CAS, I download townies, add this tag to the household and then save them to my gallery. MCCC does the rest.

Other tips / advice:

I recommend this guide to set up an organized mods folder.

Overrides should be kept separately.

I have a waiting folder for all new mods and CC so I can test them and then move them to a new folder later. I also run batch fixes on all newly added CC, so that they aren't enabled for random, etc.... I only batch fix stuff in that "testing folder".

KEEP BACKUPS of your tray files, screenshots, saves files, and mods folder.

I try to only use mods by people who regularly update them.

If I get LE's I get help at Sims After Dark discord.

I follow deaderpool's discord for mod updates.

why are people saying that they're finally able to play ts1 and ts2 again soon? the installers exist, you'll be spending money on stuff that you can have for free with community fixes.
