Natsu’s character isn’t ruined

Ok everyone seems to think that Mashima has ruined Natsu’s character as of his recent childish outburst but that’s not the case.

Natsu’s first instinct to any problem, is well a fight. But in that reference, Natsu only sees a good fight as a test of strength, remember Natsu does not kill nor does he like life or death battles.

In the final arc of Fairy Tail, Fairy Tail was in a war with an Empire. So he understood this isn’t a normal fight to began with.

Though remember, the 100yrs quest is a job to Natsu, work, not a war. So he’ll act accordingly to the job and get it done like he was hired to do. He has been hired (in his mind) to defeat dragons.

It’s only when he’s verbally condemned for that way of thinking (multiple times) is when he changes his mindset a bit, but he is disappoint at the fact he can’t immediately defeat a/the dragon

(Oh my god I love his face, he’s like yeah yeah I get it mom)

Do you think Natsu wouldn’t of listened to of all this before? Honestly he would of been still adamant about defeating the dragon, and also Natsu has retreated twice in this series. Twice.

First by Erza telling him too (cause he was being protective of Lucy when her top was stolen)

And the second time he did so on his own will

When has Natsu backed down from a fight? Like seriously, there was a whole group of guys ready for a good fight and he backed off. Maybe because he knew he was outmatched or simply he knew it wasn’t worth it.

The old Natsu (Arcs Daybreak - Tenrou) would of insisted that he could take them down, and he won’t of backed off. Instead he would of rushed in guns blazing. So why did he do that in chapter 30

Because well, he sort of got the ok too.

Guys, he literally got the okay that in order to save his friends he need to beat them. He first fucking solution to any problem. Natsu isn’t ruined nor really coping with the situation. For Natsu, this is a way to test his strength (have good fights) and save his guild. And after all his been through (with Ignia and morally grey situations that mess with his head) this is like a refresher, somethings he is familiar with and takes comfort in. So yeah he’s gonna be hell yeah! Plus he doesn’t grasp how serious the situation is because well this is Fairy Tail, his family, and why would his family be out to kill him?

But we’ll see in the coming chapters.
