there’s a mischievous grin as she waved towards the camera with confidence that seemed to ooze from each curve of her body. the couple of months that she went silent surely did a number on her facade as the center of attention greedily yearned for more. so with that previous grin, she melted into a sweet smile before lifting an arm to wave freely at the camera, “hello everyone, my name is aimi! for the three interesting facts ... i’m actually the ceo of my own entertainment, vl:d entertainment, i am also the new ambassador for chanel, and for the third interesting fact ... i am engaged!”

aiko watched as the interviewer’s face twist in surprise as her hand covered her mouth to cover the gaping hole. actually, the whole set turned silent, so silent that you could even hear the aircon wheeze through the stale air. what felt like hours were actually only minutes before the director of the shoot hurriedly caught the interviewer’s attention to continue. the interviewer looked at the piece of paper before her to read the questions off before slyly discarding them to the side due to the cue of the director quickly writing on his white board.

aiko’s smile widened as the questions rolled off the tongue of the latter. this was expected as the facts she told were news worthy. besides, the months she spent away from south korea, she knew she had to bring her facade up somehow and simply saying that she was busy was just not going to cut it. crossing her leg over another, she crossed her hands to place above her knees as she smiled softly. “let’s see... vl:d entertainment came to be about wanting to find a label that would represent me in a way where i didn’t want to shield myself from anything. i wanted to freely expose what i felt, what i want, and what i need. there were a couple of entertainments that caught my eye but when we decided to talk about the terms of the contract, we just didn’t see eye to eye.” frowning softly before smiling once more, “then it just dawned on me that i could just create one my own and simply go from there. i think i was about 12 or 13. i obviously has help from my parents so it was first under their names before they turned it over to me when i turned 16.”

the interviewer’s face was in awe at how young aiko was when she came to a executive decision. there was really a difference between being born rich and being born with wealth. aiko chuckled lightly before continuing, “now vl:d entertainment’s name actually came from toys story, vers l'infini et au-delà, meaning to infinity and beyond in french. i just shortened it into an acronym vl:d. why the semi-colon?” she pressed her lips together and shrugged her shoulders, “i guess you could say i wanted it to look at least cool. besides, i was only 12 at the time.” that chuckle from earlier turned into a small laughter as she brought her hand to her mouth to cover it in politeness before resuming a straight posture and switching legs while her hands were cupped atop her lap.

“at first, vl:d entertainment was just a music company catered to take care of my music and production but that was only until 2013 that i changed it from a music company to an entertainment company fully catering to anything in entertainment. photographers, videographers, publishing, networking, management, graphic design, actors and actress, comedians, singers, dancers, etc.”

the ceo tilted her head in thought with a soft hum resonated slowly from the base of her throat. holding big names underneath her label would cause a few questions but when they first started, they weren’t big names so to refrain from answering humbly, aiko smiled and began, “to say that they worked hard would in tandem to what they have told interviews already. for me, however, it just has to do with how it connects with the fans. sure the production and the quality is what really matters but if it doesn’t connect with the fans then how can it be interesting?” was this good enough? to say that connecting a concept with fans should be good enough but was it really clarified in her answer? there’s a shift in her seat as she continued, “i also think it’s how we market the person or group as well. marketing is very important, not just for the company but for the group or person. to me, it shows that the company really cares about their employees regardless of title. title meaning artist, musician, actress, technology, etc.”

yes, that should be enough. she was sure of it when the interviewer suddenly clapped and laughed lightly, “oh~ aimi-san! you are such a cool ceo! i would love to be under your label!” this caused aiko to laugh alongside her as she winked towards her with a playful nod, “then come! the more the merrier!”

“i was surprised myself when chanel offered me a position on the team.” aiko joked with a shake of her head because everyone should know how much she loves chanel. “i’m kidding but in all honesty, i didn’t think i would get this amazing opportunity to be their brand ambassador. it was literally like a dream come true. my first pair of chanel anything was literally a wallet that my grandfather had got me for my 16th birthday. it was really memorable, i don’t use the wallet since it just held so much value that i keep it in a clear case as a monument in my life. my grandfather hates that i don’t use it though. sorry grandfather! i still love you!” aiko turned towards the camera and pouted with a finger heart that caused the whole studio to laugh.

“but ever since then, chanel was my go to luxury brand that i often use for my daily needs. i know that it is a brand that not a lot of people can afford which is also why i like to do raffle giveaways during the christmas season to give people a chance to get the brand. all giveaways i have done so far, all profits went towards nonprofit organizations so in my book, it was a win-win.”

“you’ve only done chanel items during those raffle giveaways, have you thought about doing anything else?” 

“hm, i did but i didn’t think any other brands were sturdy enough like chanel. there is hermes but i’m still too scared to buy one since i don’t know anything about the aftercare of those bags. i would like to have one in the future but as of now, chanel does everything for me.” aiko smiled sweetly as she fixed the fringes that covered her face slightly to behind her ear.

at the mention of being engaged, there was a soft blush of pink rising towards the peaks of her cheeks as she cupped her cheeks in embarrassment. thinking about that man certainly put her through a whirlwind of emotions. the interviewer couldn’t help but giggle as she watched aiko squirm in her chair about like a teenager in love. “he... is someone very special to me.” licking her lips slightly with a press of her lips before continuing, “so if my fans are really my fans, they would understand that he means a lot to me like i mean a lot to them. they also know that i keep private matters extremely private. i keep my private life private for a reason so that nothing happens to those i cherish.”

god, ilpyo... please don’t watch this interview later. i’m going to puke being this fucking sweet. you better cook for me later. silently cursing him in her mind, aiko shyly smiled and looked away from the interviewer to the side where she smiled her brightest.

at the sudden amounts of questions, aiko’s attention returned to the interviewer with widened eyes. the blush that appeared softly turned bitter as it covered her whole face causing her to hide her cheeks with her hands, “oh god.” taking a few breaths in while fanning her face, the studio laughed and cooed causing aiko to shake her head and laugh along. like a little girl in love, aiko’s hands returned to her lap as she straightened her posture, “we’ve been engaged for two days now, we’ve been together for a total of 2 years before we got engaged. he proposed to me on new years, midnight.” remembering the event turned her small smile into a brighter one as she looked down shyly before continuing, “it was not love at first sight. we actually wanted to kill each other.” recounting the first few encounters, she rolled her eyes playfully, “but you all do know him, we actually had a shoot together recently so when that comes out... then you’ll know exactly who he is.”

aiko nodded and looked at the camera, “i know this interview is quite surprising and a big boom for introducing my life into 2021 but i just wanted to say that i thank you all for all the support you have all given me the past couple of years. without your continuous support, i wouldn’t have been where i am today. everyday i still remember as if i was still starting out. i also know that with my private life is now coming into the open, i ask that you be respectful because i too am human. i want to protect those i cherish and that means i cherish you as well. thank you so much for giving me this opportunity and thank you vogue japan for allowing me to come out and reveal what i wanted to say! well, this is aimi with vogue japan, thank you for tuning in!” with that, aiko stood up from her chair and bowed respectfully towards the camera then the crew of the studio. as she rose from her bow, the camera turned off and the studio roared in congratulations.
