the  hand  curled  into  his  hair  is  gentle , and  the  words  that  curve  carefully against the shell of his ear fall just as softly into their place as his head cants toward the voice... he turns over, light hitting against his eyelids as he stretches, muted vision igniting red while his fingers spread overhead, but barely manage to shield against the light. in response, he feels another hand cradle against the side of his face, the sun in his vision interrupted, red bleeding back to the visual silence of darkness and his eyes flutter open, where he finds tanjirou across from him, soaked by the sun and smiling to him.

face  remains  masked  as  legs  fold  carefully  under  him,  harsh  hands  battering  away the unwelcome touch of those facilitating the slayers’ care. 

eyes  graze  across  the  feast  before  them  and  his  stomach  hurdles  in  slight  protest  at the lack of food he’s had in days past, carefully avoidant of what foreign hands may feed him. he reaches to tilt the boar - shaped shroud away from his features, leaning forward to examine some of the delicacies placed out. stare moves sideward as he watches tanjirou fill his plate, following the motion of fingers pressing rice and food together and the path it follows to his lips. eyes follow the motion in repetition before the mask comes off completely and he leans closer, fingers hesitating momentarily

a  gruff  hum  and  gaze  narrowing  incrementally  as  the  low  pass  of  his  voice  comes into existence in the air around them,
