went to my best friend’s house last night and saw a little plushie dog and plushie cat that had been sewn together down the middle into a two-headed chimera. I said, “did you do that?” she said, “yes, I saved them.”

turns out at her old job when the last two plushies hadn’t sold and became deadstock, her boss told her to cut them up and throw them out. so she cut them each in half, preserved their heads, and then rebuilt them together.

cannot stop thinking about the way these little plushies were approached with the instinct of a Vampire or some sort of ancient god. “Let me save you [turn you into a monster].”

I am only capable of understanding fortnite as "commercials: the video game". fortnite to me is like one of those grimy satirical depictions of virtual reality where you are being blasted with ads in all directions and can get malware from having sex.

english has this weird use of the word "sorry", which to me always registers as "the word you say when you apologize", but you also say it at a bunch of times even when you have done no harm and you couldn't possibly have prevented it. like saying "i'm so sorry" when your friend tells you their pet died. or saying "i'm sorry" when your friend breaks their arm. like what? i'm not sorry, i didn't do that. but there's not really words to say other than "my condolences" (only appropriate when a death happened) or "that fucking sucks yo" (way too informal if your friend is genuinely upset, can easily come off insincere)
