I’ve been fascinated with the underground town of Coober Pedy, in Australia, b/c it’s the Opal mining capital of the world, and my birthstone is the Opal. Plus, it’s a very interesting place.
B/c it’s so hot, 80% of the town is underground. You can buy an above-ground house, if you really want one, but all homes are relatively inexpensive.
Shopping is underground.
Bars, coffee shops, & restaurants are also underground.
Churches are underground, too.
You can visit & stay in one of the many motels. This is the lobby of a Comfort Inn.
my warden mahariel dressed up a little for formal occasions- his hair is usually pretty messy cuz it’s loose when he’s fighting or climbing trees or tumbling through bushes so it probably takes a while to untangle it and comb out all the twigs and stuff and wrestle it into a neat braid and he probably hates every second of it
I just got my physical copy of this wonderful tome by Arcanist Press! It has a great introduction that explains why the use of the term “Race” in our beloved role-playing games is so problematic, and then offers a great solution for it that fits right in-between existing 5e rules.
We’ve been looking for a good alternative to “Race” for the character options we publish on our patreon, and we’re now going to do some tests to see if this model is something we could use.
I highly recommend you check it out! The free preview on DiveThruRPG includes the introduction & full rules for alternate character creation.
FRIEND: How’re you doing with the whole quarantine thing?
ME: Oh I’m fine with the isolation. Honestly it’s not really any different to my normal everyday life from before; I couldn’t tell you the last time I actually left the house. No, the thing that’s driving me insane about the whole situation is other people. How did we get to a place where the people in charge —you know the people who are supposed to be protecting us — care more about the economy and money than human life? When did it become acceptable for leaders of the world to call the death of millions of human beings “inevitable” and not even show the slightest hint of sympathy?! I swear, if I hear one more person (especially if that person is the leader of a whole-arse country) say “We’re doing everything we can, we’re doing great, this will all be over soon”, I’m gonna scream. No you are not doing everything you can, sir! You waited too long to do the bare minimum and spent the rest of your time spouting absolute garbage and telling the whole world what a genius you are! Then there’s the ridiculous celebrities complaining about being stuck at home and thinking singing a damn song is going to help anything! “We’re all in this together”? No we’re fucking not, Karen! We’re over here trying to survive as best we can on what little food and money we have and literally fighting each other for toilet paper! Meanwhile, you’re hiding from your own children in your million dollar mansion with your 24/7 live-in staff having food bought in by someone who has no choice but to risk their own health so they can make money to feed their own kids, who they would give anything to be stuck at home with! And don’t even get me started on these religious whack-jobs who think some almighty power is protecting them from the virus, or the people who still insist “It’s just the flu” or think they’re immune because they’re not over 50… Is it possible to roll your eyes so hard they actually fall out?
