I Just. Have so many unanswered questions about the eyeball worms from Godchild. Did they come from a catalog? Did someone, I don’t know, at least put a tarp over them? Did anyone at any point think, maybe we shouldn’t store oxygen-sensitive eyeball worms in an open-air pool????? Maybe one of the two people in Alexis’s fun-time cult with a medical degree????? What happened to the eyeball worms? Why don’t they count as animals too? Are they living out their best life in the care of Scotland Yard?

My contribution to this year´s Kaori Yuki Secret Santa / New Year´s Celebration on tumblr, hosted by @yourfavouritedoll . * Click here to see last year´s contribution * I got assigned to my dearest @waltzing-marionettes this year,who wanted a piece with atmosphere. I oved the idea of drawing a Victorian greenhouse, but as I have never drawn one before, I wanted to practice more before throwing my mediocre attempts onto the interwebs. So I thought a Christmas scene would be nice, since I kinda know how to do a Christmas atmosphere. I had first planned to only have Cain and Mary on the canvas, but then it looked so empty to me. And because I love Jezabel, I added Jezabel. I sort of wanted to kill two birds with one stone here, so this is a bit of a nod to @moonlightcaughtyoureye , and her amazing fics Leaving the Gerden and On the East of Eden. I just love how she describes the few moments they spend together as a family, especially in that one scene in which they play chess, and I wanted to capture a bit of that feeling with this piece.

My final thought from the Godchild re-read is that this time around I am horrified by Alexis in a new way. When I do literary analysis, I like to pair themes and characters off as a way of comparing and contrasting; it's a slightly modified version of a mode of analysis we don't really have to get into even though it's extremely fun. There are a few characters you can pair him with in terms of the narrative (and I am, um, disturbed that Ida effectively replaces Augusta for him in the end; girl, leave him), but what really keeps coming to me is his incredible self-awareness of how monstrously evil he is vs. Cassandra's shocking inability to understand that he 's in fact shockingly evil. There feels like another layer of evil to Alexis that he understands what he's doing is wrong and cruel, but he not only doesn't care, he uses the hope that he might change to manipulate other characters.

The narrative hill I will die on is that Alexis Hargreaves was always evil, that the evil was in him all along, and that the plot twist that Augusta was so evil that she made him bad makes no sense. Canonically, Alexis kills two little girls years before Augusta supposedly makes him turn evil, so I really don't buy that Alexis was just minding his own business before. No, he was really out there making Jezabel's mother miserable and killing her daughters. The evil was in him, and boy, was it being expressed.

Lately I’ve been hit a lot by Godchild feels, very specifically around 3 am. Which is not ideal if you have to get up around 6 am… And I know myself. This was my subconscious telling me “Hey. Hey! You should draw more Godchild.” Sure enough, I got stuck with Jezabel again. I should definetely draw other Godchild characters as well, but I keep coming back to him. I just love him so much. And this time around, I felt like throwing in some dramatic lighting and extra kitsch. Plus a squirrel, because it borders on blasphemy that I haven’t drawn Jezabel freaking Disraeli in company of animals.

Hey guys! Here is a pic of my Mikaela Cosplay! (Wanted to show you more but tumblr is an asshole and is Not going to let me upload more than one pic….)

She is a character from the manga series “God Child“ / “Count Cain“ by Kaori Yuki. Mikaela is one of my All time favorites! I first “cosplayed“ /cough/ her back in 2010 or so? And it was definetly Not good XD so i decided to remake the Cosplay or at least sew a cosplay (the first one was just clothes out of my closet).

And i did it! I’m so pleased with how it came out! I made everything by myself! The patterns The jacket The skirt The underskirt (is that what its called by the way?) The corsage (i’ll show later)

And damn I’m very proud! :3c
