Final Post ETEC 647e
This course was a mix of fun, challenge, and innovation. I will remember the Pintrest assignment the most. I enjoyed seeing the different pins that my peers used to showcase who they are and reading the short descriptions explaining the importance of each "pin".

Course Debriefing Technologies/Tools
After the first round of debriefings on Monday (including my own), I found myself drawn to the the presentation of Socratic by Lorraine Brooks. I feel that this tool struck my interest because it was one similar to that which I chose to present on. Both are quiz/test oriented, but I liked how Socratic is designed to have use while a lesson is going on. This way teachers can try to gauge feedback without having to call out to the students and see if anyone raised their hand. I like how there is an element of anonymity for the less vocal or reserved classroom students to fully participate and show their understanding. This is a tool that I would hope to incorporate into my classroom or educational domain.

Augmented Reality (AR)
My mind was opened to the possibilities of AR when I worked on my Youtube AR playlist assignment for this week. Seeing the wide variety of videos (educational and non educational) I could really sense that AR is a force that is here and which has a high ceiling for which to make an impact. I was impressed at the range in content that people have chosen to incorporate AR into, especially in terms of learning and teaching. At the start of the week I was under the impression that educators should wait for AR to continue maturing when it came to education, that they should wait on new innovations to come out because we are still in a beginning stage. I quickly learned that advancement has been made in many ways already, and that the time to incorporate is now. I am interested to see what comes out as we move to the future and look back in say 5 to 10 years from now.

The Blogs of My Peers.
I chose to review the blogs of Ashley Alamida, Jon Matsuda, and Kamakana Aquino. What first stuck out to me were the design structures of each blog. Ashley used Tumblr, while Jon and Kamakana used Wordpress to create their blogs. But each blog was designed and structured differently than the others, which I feel is a product of each author’s individual creativity. In terms of the content found in each blog, there was a vast array of ideas and topics “spoken” on. I liked comparing some of the thoughts my peers had to my own thoughts on similar topics.
For this review assignment I decided to choose one posting by each of my peers to reflect on. For Ashley’s blog I chose the posting titled, TCC Hawaii. I liked this posting because it goes into the question, what is TCC Hawaii? Being in the ETEC program we constantly are hearing about the TCC Conference in April, how we have to attend it, or how those students who will be graduating come May, must present at the conference. But just as Ashley was wondering, what is TCC Hawaii? The post gives a quick blurb about what TCC Hawaii is, and it provides a link to an external resource. However, I really liked how Ashley spoke on her own experience of attending the conference this past year, particularly about some of the presentations made. I would suggest students new to the ETEC program or students curious about how the TCC Conference works to read her post.
For Jon’s blog I chose the post, Online and Naked. Here Jon speaks on the subject of online privacy with Smart Phones and their applications. A point that really caught my attention was in terms of the pros and cons of whether I want some piece of information so much that I am willing to allow some of my user information to be leaked in cyberspace. Jon mentions about how he goes through this questioning process with each application he considers downloading. I myself do not take measures that drastically but I do take the precaution to allow certain aspects of an application, such as allowing use of my current location, to be used. I don’t want my personal business to be put on blast like that for the world to see.
For Kamakana’s blog I chose the post, Objectives, Will I Fulfill Them? I chose to reflect on this post because just like Kamakana, I posted my first Wordpress blog due to being a member of the ETEC 647e course. I liked how Kamakana used this post to set up readers so they would know what type of information they would come to find by reading this blog. I like how he included a piece about how he welcomed comments so that his and the reader’s own learning could be enhanced by the blogging experience. Although the blog does not include many posts, I feel that it is ripe for more information to be added

Flipping A Classroom Discussion
Flipping would definitely be a contributing factor to the learning experience to an online class. I like the idea of flipping because of the supplementary resources via video that can be incorporated to assist learning. I think it gives students a method to learn that encourages independency from the teacher as much as it would in traditional environments.
For a flipped class to be successful, it will need a teacher who is innovative thinking and open minded to allowing the use of resources like videos from the internet in their classroom. Such a teacher would need to be knowledgable in how to find and judge the resources that they wish to incorporate.
A flipped class could fall to problems if the teacher does not make use connecting course content to the video resources. An example that stands out would be a teacher not creating review or engaging questions for discussion to encourage students to think about what they have learned.
I would flip a class that I may teach if the class was one which I could get resources that are very applicable to the content students will be learning. I would feel comfortable flipping a math class because the content is very straight forward and always true, unlike a class where there is room for abstract answers.

OER
In terms of OER in the context of a course and whether or not an institution should keep or sell the content rather than openly share it, I am of the thinking that institutions should continue to share it openly.
The very essence of OER is to be open and available for the purpose of learning. They are to provide a resource to all learners, so that everyone has an opportunity to learn by being offered similar circumstances.
OER encourages learning to be done via collaboration between educators and students. The material becomes more individualized to help students perform to the best of their abilities.

Digital Identity
I've given thought to the idea of digital identity, much less my own. This past week however I got the opportunity to ponder this topic via an option for a class assignment. I liked how the instructor gave some ideas to think about in terms of what I think my digital identity is, how might I want to be perceived online, and how might I go about changing my digital identity.
Over the past 6 years or so I've learned that our actions online can have just as much impact as our actions in the real world do. In some cases even more so due to our "online footprints" that we leave when we interact online. I have heard and read stories about how inappropriate behavior online has led to people missing out on job opportunities or flat out getting fired over content. This really makes me cautious of what I choose to share and post because you never know who will see what you have shared with the online community.

MOOC
This past week we had to choose a MOOC (Massively Open Online Course) as a task for our ETEC 647e course. We were given resources to help us find a MOOC that may pique our interests. At first I was searching for something that related to sports or to hip hop culture/rap music. I found a MOOC that talked about sports management and wanted to choose that but the starting date is not until October of this year. So back to searching I went. After scanning through several of the resources provided to us, I settled on a MOOC about Song Writing. I make a lot of short writing raps in my free time but have never been able to write something long and "musically structured". I'm interested to see what type of information I can learn from this experience.

Daily Create pt. 3
As I enter through the door, teal in color I am surprised to see my childhood heroes, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The 4 turtles are huddled around a table, each with fresh pizza in front of them covered in toppings. As I approach them, Mikey says "Cowabunga dude, so glad you could join us, we're about to scarf up these pizzas, you can stay for a few slices if you want". "Sure Mikey", I say. "It would be my honor, but there is one thing I was hoping you can do for me before we eat". "What is it?" asks Mikey. "Teach me how to chuck like you" I say. Mikey replies "No problemo compadre!!!!!" And so begins my training to be a nunchaku master and a meal of epic proportions.

Daily Create pt. 1
I woke up quick, startled by the obnoxious crowing of the neighborhood wild life. I look back at the clock to my side, 6 AM it reads, oh what a wonderful day. As I lift myself up out of bed , the moment feet touch cold floor, something comes to mind, but what the heck is it? I walk to the bath room, grab a wash cloth to wash my face. After finishing I start to brush my teeth. Tooth by tooth in a circular motion, and it hits me again. What have I forgotten? Eh it can't be that important, if it was i would remember. So I go iron my clothes, first the shorts, then my white tee. Ah ha I know what it is, I forgot to drop off that box to Salvation Army yesterday. Oh well I can do it after school today. I go to the pantry and grab the box of Honey Nut Cheerios I have been dreaming about to eat. I grab a large bowl from the cabinet and a large spoon to boot. I am going to eat good today. I go to the fridge and grab the carton of milk, my mouth salivating for that first bite. I open the lid to begin pouring the milk........................................ Come on Son, I didn't forget the box, I forgot to buy milk!!!!!!

Web 2.0 Tools Class Introcutions
So for our ETEC 647E course we had to introduce ourselves to the rest of our class by creating a slide show or video with a duration of 30 seconds or less. I did felt like it was not a difficult task to accomplish but I thought it would have been cool if we had a longer time limit to work with. A lot of the slide shows/videos that I saw were very cool but they made me want to see or hear more. I guess this gives us the opportunity to try to interact more with our peers outside of "class"
The other part of this assignment that I enjoyed was seeing the comments that my peers left about my slide show. I saw that some individuals mentioned about similarities between them and myself. It's interesting to see how we as people are not separated by much degree in terms of likes and dislikes in this world. I can tell this course is going to something amazing.

Aloha and Welcome
Hello world,
Thank you for checking out my blog. This is the second time that I have had the opportunity to explore blogging, the first time I used wordpress, I am looking forward to this new and exciting challenge of using and keeping up with tumblr.
I really like how tumblr encourages user to check out other blogs that are available through this website. I found a few that I want to look further into about rap music and art.
Until next time, Live Aloha and KCCO.
