Ok, so I thought I’d finally put my foot in the door in terms of the whole discourse to do with the Amanda and Ace breakup situation. Now, am I glad that the breakup has officially happened? yes, but that’s because I’m a sick twisted bitch who loves Nace and just wants to opportunity to finally see them get closer and get down the road of actually being together. Am I however glad about the hate that not only is Ace getting but also Amanda is getting in particular at this time? absolutely NOT. So, as a result I thought I’d put both their sides forward to this whole situation to show how they both equally had the right to what they said and did in this episode, but also clarify some bits. (warning: long post)
Right off the bat I want to make it clear we need to remember that not only was the breakup not at all to do with Nancy (which I’m glad they made it this way because it avoids a common trope of pitting women against each other by making the reason for a break up to be because of another woman, instead of just being the relationship having its own faults that cause it to end as it did here), but also that we need to remember that Bertram is a criminal that has literally had blood on his hands (even if his crimes started out as not being out of choice when Amanda was younger, what he allowed it to become is a whole other machine).
So, I feel like it should go without saying that the breakup was going to happen sooner or later, the cracks had already shown themselves last season and so really this was just all of it culminating in one episode; Amanda even said herself at one point that they essentially skipped all the rough times and went straight into the good, which by all means doesn’t mean that they had to go through the worst of the worst, but if they were really going to last then they would’ve had some sort of significant hardship together and developed past it, except they didn’t. I mean they didn’t even really seem to have a proper talk about the whole breakup between Nancy and Gil at least hinted at whatsoever. Communication and honesty were always something these two have not done well with each other. (Which btw again my sick and twisted Nace brain would say a certain pairing have done much better but that’s not important right now)
Then there’s the whole situation with this episode. Ace is in a difficult situation, one which I feel like part of the hate towards him stems from a lack of understanding or at least not wanting to understand his situation, because by all means I haven’t personally been in his situation as I’m sure it’s not likely many of any of us really have, not even anything similar, but nevertheless it’s not an easy situation to find yourself in; by all means he made a bad call with doing favours for Bertram but that’s more complicated that I think some make it out to be. Ace is innocent in all this you have to remember, he didn’t beat someone up or commit any other sort of heinous crime, sure he’s hacked into a government database (which aside from being weird to type here, I know it doesn’t make him completely without his own past) but even then it was only to find his secret brother, Ace has never acted to put people in danger or cause serious harm. All he’s trying to do in this episode is to not be sent to prison for being roped into bringing Bertram to his next target under false pretences that he was only driving him around, nothing more, not an accomplice as he makes clear himself before kicking Bertram out. Ace didn’t go ahead and make his decision to follow Amanda lightly, and by all means is it a betrayal for him to have done that? sure, but if any of us seriously think we can be judge, jury, and executioner in particular to condemn Ace for what he did is pretending that we could at any point seriously be sure that we wouldn’t do the same thing if under such dire circumstances. Plus, to Ace’s credit he showed honest and deep regret in having to do what he did, even ardently trying to explain himself without lashing out when Amanda didn’t want to hear it.
Onto Amanda. As much as I could be over critical of her, I’m not. And do you want to know why? because family is complicated. For her all she really has is her toxic brother and her manipulative father, for whom despite their occasional soft spots, aren’t in any way good guys, but she’s been able to fortify herself as someone better than that. (here’s a link to a post I found interesting, you don’t have to agree with it all but I still think there’s some good points to take on board –> the-magnificunt post) Amanda’s dealing with the only father/parent she really has finally out of prison only to be sent back, even though for logical reasoning, when they’re family it’s not so straight forward to condemn them especially when you have even the bare minimum amount of good memories with them in your mind, particularly ones with significance. So she has the right to be mad, because even though I’m someone who might not be above selling my dad out and even though it might frustrate me how she defends her dad to the point that she does with a certain lack of boundary to acknowledge that here’s a point where you have to give them up, I do however have great empathy for her because in part what her decision really comes down to is do I keep this person of significance in my life who gave me my sense of self despite everything else or do I lose the one bit of family I really have that I feel cares about me even though I know it’s the right thing to do. There’s no easy way out for her either. And to her credit out of all of it, she gives Ace access to her dad’s stuff to help George.
Additionally, I just want to put it out there that from just my personal stance here that Ace IS a good guy, and he’s not one to self proclaim that sort of thing, he just does it and I feel like unfortunately that comment from Amanda is probably going to stick with him for a bit. Equally, Amanda is not the bad guy, she’s just someone with complicated family issues, ones which come with a higher price than other characters in the show who have their own messes to deal with. Also, just to bring Nancy back into the mix for a second, considering the breakup between Amanda and Ace was not prompted by her I also want to come to her defence and say that as obvious as it seems, she did not cause Amanda’s family situation, she has her own trauma and her situation is equally one that was out of her control.
Side-note, with this if we’re really going to judge Amanda, it should be on the things that are more fair to criticise (as I hope I’ve achieved here), at least in general anything that any of the characters get judged on should be fair and not just pulling at straws, and that goes for any analysis’s put forward. It’s okay to have frustrations with characters as long as they’re founded but also for some instances we actually try to understand these characters, because certainly in this situation I think it’s needed.
Hopefully I’ve covered everything in my head, if I haven’t oh well, but this is all I wanted to say for now. Just want it to be clear again I have no hate for anyone who has strong feelings about all this, just wanted to create a bit of peace.

The parallel between Sylvie’s betrayal to go after her life’s “glorious purpose” and Mobius’ betrayal away from his life’s “glorious purpose”
This!!!!!!
It’s kind of poetic, in a way, if you ask me. Because Sylvie always has her ‘glorious purpose’ since day one. Her life was stolen from her when she was a literal child without her knowing what her crime was. And I bet, to this day, she still doesn’t know what she did wrong that she was taken from her family in Asgard when she was so young, what she could possibly have done wrong. And I don’t blame her at all for doing what she did, for betraying Loki in that finale.
I remember her telling Loki in episode 3 ‘not at the expense of the mission’ — She’d made it clear from the beginning she’d stop at nothing until her mission was fulfilled. Killing whoever was behind the TVA was the mission, her glorious purpose, because her entire life was stolen. She was robbed of everything she could’ve had, the Thor in her timeline, her parents, she never had the chance to even say goodbye to them, so of course, she needed her revenge. And Loki was in her way, so she had to get rid of him. Never at the expense of the mission, the glorious purpose of her life. It was in character for her, too. She’s a Loki, and Lokis can’t be trusted, after all.
Mobius’ glorious purpose, I believe, is the TVA. Whoever he was before the TVA came along, dare I say, is behind him now. Because all Mobius knows is the organization which he works for; his life, his dedication, his loyalty, it’s all for the TVA.
The TVA is the only thing he knows. And his betraying it for Loki says a lot. Because Mobius never had any doubt in it until Loki came into his life. He’s studied Loki before, he knows Loki lies and can’t be trusted, is fully aware of Loki’s silver tongue and his tricks. Yet he chose to believe and trust Loki and, in the end, betray the TVA for him.
So you, anon, are absolutely correct. Sylvie betrayed Loki for her glorious purpose, while Mobius betrayed his own glorious purpose for Loki.

Okay so Kate Herron referenced When Harry Met Sally in relation to Loki, specifically the end scene (in which he realises he wants to spend the rest of his life with her, runs to find her and tell her and then stops, breathless, when he sees her.) Now tell me this isn’t the same moment
