I was unsure if I wanted to post the link here because I was a little nervous to share my story on a site other than ao3, but I think I'm doing good so far and wanted to see what others would think about it. It's a Jeeves x Melinda Desmond fic, and I decided to write it after seeing a post on X about the whole "Jeeves is Damian's real father" theory. It didn't go deep into detail or anything, but it was enough to spark my imagination :)

I like to imagine that Westalian and Ostanian parenting styles are polar opposites so every once in a while there’s a Cold War in the Forger household over what to do with Anya

For example

Westalians think children should walk ahead while Ostanians think they should walk parallel to their parents. So there’s Yor trying to keep Anya in line while Loid has his hands on his pockets not giving a damn

Westalians love to just leave their kids at random places or home alone (community based culture, it’s assumed someone will look over the child regardless) while Ostanians find that shit irresponsible. So sometimes Loid just wonders off and leaves Anya alone and everyone is so confused before he remembers and grabs her

Ostanians think children getting sick is the most egregious thing ever and a sign of bad parenting. In fact, if your kid gets sick too much they will call the cops on you. Westalians on the other hand, celebrate that shit. There’s a popular saying “a sick child is a healthy adult”. Kids need to get sick so their immune system will get strong. They would get their kids sick on purpose by doing River Washes, it got so bad the government had to make it illegal because the death rate for kids was just sky high. Twilight in all his wisdom and brilliance still believes in the tradition but never did it to Anya (because it’s very illegal in Ostania like a federal offense) but he does like to leave her hair damp for a few extra minutes until her nose starts to run. Yor on the other hand would pump Anya full of every remedy known to man kind to ensure that girl never gets sick.

Ostanians view the kitchen as a hazard zone and that kids shouldn’t enter. Westalians think kids should always be in the kitchen in order to learn. So every time Loid is cooking Yor woudl remove Anga and then Loid is trying to find her but no Anya to be seen. He looks over and she’s standing the hallway confused.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but genuinely, if you think that these recent chapters of sxf have been "boring" or "disappointing" or "unnecessary because it has nothing to do with the main characters or major plot" you should stop reading sxf.

This manga, this anime, they are a slow burn. This flashback is part of necessary world-building and exposition. Not everything has to be plot-driven. Not everything has to focus entirely on the main characters. Sometimes to make a good and fleshed out story, to really emphasize the theme of a story, you need to focus on side characters, you need to focus on the world at large. Not everything will be big and bombastic. Not everything should be big and bombastic.

Opinions like yours are a big reason we have rushed 6-8-12 episode seasons of shows as the norm, where we don't get time to know the characters, where we don't get time to let the narrative breathe, where we rush through the main plot. And that format can work sometimes, but most of the time it doesn't.

If you want big and bombastic and action all the time that focuses pretty much on just the main characters and nothing else, go somewhere else. This manga and anime are not for you.

If I had to choose my favorite character from spy x family it would be this guy

1. He has funny and chill uncle energy

2. He's so underrated it's painful. He doesn't even have a name or codename(

3. He clearly worked in WISE for a long time, but still is impulsive as hell

4. He asked Twilight for a fuckin drink after Wheeler ark (the most dangerous mission they all had since the beginning of Operation Strix)

(Also am I the only one who sees the uncle teasing his angsty nephew about his first crush? No one else? Alright)

His comment about marital problems makes me think he had a family at some point and understands Twilight's inner conflict

Like here he clearly was both serious and teasing about tearful reunion. He suggested it seriously, because he understands that Twilight wants it deep down (He even calls Anya his girl). But he also teases the hell outta Loid for being in denial

5. He's the only agent that isn't afraid of Handler. He's even confident enough to argue with her and scold her in front of other agents. And honestly I feel like Silvia holds a lot of respect for him despite those arguments. It would be very interesting to know their history (not like we gonna have it in canon, they are too minor characters)

6. He seems to have this relaxed kind of wisdom that balances with his impulsive reactions
