*Very Late Post* but on Saturday December 23rd I was invited to be a vendor at the @thebettyz Holiday Art Market that was held @secretprojectrobot in Brooklyn. I was able to meet other amazing artists and collectives that were vending there too and it’s always pretty dope to come across so many artists, especially the women at every show, market, event, etc because we are always so under played and most of the time places by the wayside as artists. After all the shit I’ve been through and have gone through I’m praying for the Women’s Revolution to happen because it’s time for ya to REALLY hear us, hear what we say and what our art does say without prejudices and a reflection of this male dominated time. In some art shows I observe people near my work to see if they’d speak to a man or a woman first to ask if they’re the artist. Sometimes while my work isn’t synonymous with gender people assume the work is made by a male photographer from the hood, but in fact it’s your friendly neighborhood Bronx-bitch in this bitch! I am so proud of everything I have done and have gotten to achieve this year and in the past 3 years working with my series on the Bronx. So thanks for the ride and support. Saturday was really dope. I had a lot of fun. I’m also so excited that both of my books “All Around The Bronx” and “The Bronx is Best” and my Zine “Cognizant” sold out and I couldn’t be happier. Saturday’s Art Market was incredibly dope. Thank you to @margot.terc @osa_la_diosa @dwdc_health for allowing me to be a part of it. @notoriouss_clothing clothing has been around since 2013. With a range of street wear surrounding the aesthetic and culture T’yanna’s father, Notorious B.I.G. put us onto in the 90s. But let’s not put T in her father’s shadow. She’s an amazing woman. She’s intelligent, a Penn State Graduate — WE ARE! And most importantly she never gave up on her dreams to have her own clothing line and now store. Every time we work together for the season look books I’m always in awe of her business skills and how she handles and gets shit done! Saturday night was really good! The day of was a mess and everything was going wrong and felt horrible, but I pushed through my anxiety and panic attacks and stood for the show after I felt even more overwhelmed. This was my 5th art show this year. I thank ya for the support you have given me, most importantly from the strangers cause on some real shit it be the closest people to you that hate the most. Whenever I post that I have shows or send texts directly to you inviting you, I don’t think you all know what that really means to me to 1. Have this opportunity and 2. Have people I care about or people in general enjoy themselves at these cool events that I’m a part of. It gets you involved in the community as well as have fun and see my hard work and dedication. My main focus in life is making art. I will never want to work a regular 9-5. I don’t like people telling me what to do which is why I’ve been striving for bigger and better. To be my own boss. To have my own photo studio. To be an editor of a magazine. And without the support of ya, it feels like I am constantly telling people to come to my show for some validation. And in hindsight I’ve just been very proud. So when I do have shows and literally no one I know shows up, but I have love from strangers who don’t know me from a hole in the wall wakes me up and I realize that I don’t need all of you to support me, because I support me! So I won’t be sending texts about my shows only to be ignored. I will not invite my family so that I won’t be disappointed. And I won’t be inviting any friends because at the end of the day if you really wanted to be there and support me, you would have done it. So sorry you missed me! Just a PSA! Saturday was amazing! I was personally chosen to be a part of this art show curated/created by @gnrtn.why and she killed it! I had the chance to be split between 2 other amazing artists @legnini.art and @carlitaz_way (send these girls love for their work!) and I had 4 amazing people (@kat__white not pictured 😕) come thru knowing that I was in the show and showed love and support. Thank you to those who showed love and didn’t know me or my work from before. All of that love felt amazing. “Uptown Baby, Uptown” had many amazing spoken word performers and a strong women artist presence that was incredible especially held at the @dwdc_health. Then for #NYCC #DAY4 I dressed up as Videl from Dragon Ball Z. ✨ I had so much fun on Sunday. I got to meet Tara Strong the voice actor for many of our favorite NickToon and other characters. All this #NationalBoyfriendDay stuff was just really a way to show off the artsy pictures I've made of him. He's a great supporter of what I do.
