earth day | kassandros & makena
“Is it?” Makena asked, looking entirely serious as she asked Kass if murder was really that bad and a silence hung in the air for a moment before she broke out laughing. “I’m kidding. I suppose it is…” Although now that the witch was experimenting with necromancy and the forces of death, the idea of it somehow did not seem entirely horrible. “What if the murdering is done on a bad guy though?”
Tumblr media
“You are definitely my favourite, Kassy!” she grinned. Kassandros was one of her oldest friends and Makena really appreciated that about him because he let her get away with so many things and even covered for her when things got rough. As far as she knew, he was the only one who had not run for the hills yet and for some reason, she needed the comfort of that right now, especially after all the drama from the past few months. “We’re ride or die, my good friend.”
-
For a second, his determination waivered just slightly before she cracked. “Oh ha ha,” he said, rolling his eyes when a smile broke across her face. “Most of the time it’s bad to murder. There are some exceptions,” he said, able to agree on that one. The question of life and death was a little feeble when there were demons and deities and vampire’s that never died unless killed. “I think murdering a bad guy is understandable.” God knew if Kassandros got the chance, he’d kill his uncle. It didn’t matter if it was seen as good or bad, he’d still kill that man.
Tumblr media
“And you know you’re mine,” he echoed, even if it sounded like she was teasing him. Makena was one of his longest lasting friends in the city, something that Kass didn’t have many of. They had grown in their magical endeavors together as well as getting their businesses started. Despite whatever the future showed her, Makena would always have him on her side. “Preferably the ride part but if you get your necromancy skills up, it can stay ride and no to the dying.”

“Not all things.” Wren responded simply, “Besides, I wasn’t always in a position where using my magic so freely was an option.” He explained.
Once they were both sat, Wren surveyed the bloodied mess of Kass’ nose, deciding without a doubt that it was broken. “You’re in luck, I think it can be saved.” He offered a small smile, “We also have the moon on our side this evening.” He hummed. It was particularly helpful to draw power from when healing, and Wren did just that as he set to fixing Kass’ nose. “So, do you go out alone often?” Wren asked and just as he did, the bone clicked back into place. “There,” he exhaled, using his magic to dull the pain quickly after.
-
“That hadn’t occurred to me,” he thought aloud. Kass had been in a lucky enough position to grow up around and in coven’s, always able to use his magic when it suited him. “It’s a handy skill to have.”
Kass grinned, grateful that he wouldn’t be having a surprise surgery to remove his nose in the park. They could safe that misadventure for another day. “I think I mostly go out alone,” he admitted, distracted by the elf’s question. The distraction only worked so long before he was cursing loudly, the sound of bone clicking back into place. “Son of a...” he growled out, pulling his head out of Wren’s grasp. He knew he should be grateful and maybe when the ache went away, he would be. “I should just carry a healing potion with me,” he muttered. “But thank you,” he added, albeit begrudgingly while he still felt pain.

Having lived in Droitwich for the past one-hundred-years now, Wren found himself very familiar with it’s establishments. Not that he visited them often, of course, but there was one bartender that he’d befriended. He wasn’t sure if the man had been trying to flirt with him for all these years and Wren was just being oblivious, but he often had good tips to share, like how Ethanol could help plants during a drought, or the botany behind alcohol that Wren found interesting.
He’d stopped in to pick up a book on the subject before heading home one night. He hadn’t quite noticed the familiar man in the corner over the music and the chatter of others, until it seemed he’d poured a glass of something all over somebody and caused quite a commotion. Mister Zuberi?” Wren questioned, “Are you alright?”

“It’s always a wonderful day to walk in the park,” Theodore mused. It was where most elves felt the safest, after all. The place emitted earthly energy.
He swallowed and moistened his lips. This was why he liked dating in the mountains. If things didn’t work out, you could just hike to another spot. But here? They lived in the same city. So, in short, this was just Theodore being nervous.
Tumblr media
“I work at the Westwood School,” Theodore said. “Music Theory.”
-
Kass happened to agree. He spent most of his time around plants with his work and even his magic was based around plants so he liked getting to be around it. It was even better outdoors than indoors, where most of his work was. “It’s nice and warm out too,” he agreed.
The quiet between them seemed to stretch on and he wondered if he was being awkward or if they both were being awkward. It had been a while since Kass had done this while sober so he knew he could be making it awkward.
Tumblr media
“Oh that’s cool. Do you play anything?” he asked. Kass was making the an assumption but it seemed like a safe on to make if Theodore taught music theory.

Holiday? Other than supernatural festivals, he rarely got a day off. Well, his days off were usually filled with his new extracurricular activities, which he almost considered a second job at this point. His expression was still sheepish and he almost brushed over the statement before finally letting out a, quiet, “I, uh, haven’t had a vacation in awhile either.”
He quickly turned and followed, content to let Kass lead, content to meander even carrying a bag filled with almost every cold medicine possible. This was going to be an experience of gentle scolding, he could already tell; first the overworking, next the reference to holidays, and now breakfast, which wasn’t a meal he ate unless he’d been awake all night. “I really love Belguim waffles,” he said, recalling old memories of weekend mornings and the Remington kitchen being covered in batter. “They’re way too much work for me to make.”
-
Something told him Eiji rarely went outside and saw some sunlight. The weather was nice out and he was happy to lead them on a small walk, even if it was just around the block before they both had to get back to work. The sheepish expression answered his question before he could. “I don’t want to be out here lecturing you but breaks are good. Like a nice beach, some cocktails. Someone hot beside you on a beach is also good,” he teased with a wink.
This was his way of easing the conversation away from how tired and sick Eiji seemed. The human knew he needed a break, he didn’t also need a lecture from him. Kass could be a workaholic but he knew when to take a break and he hoped he could encourage Eiji to do the same. “Who needs to make them when you can go out and buy some?” he said, knowing he would have no idea how to make waffles himself. “I’m a bacon and egg sandwich kinda guy, also love a good breakfast burrito,” he added, wanting to keep the conversation flowing. “So, do you like cooking or is it just waffles that get you in the mood?”

“No good eggs. Just bad ones,” Makena grinned and pointed to herself and then at Kassandros too before she leaned in to bump her shoulder against his arm.
“That was very smart of you,” she pointed out. “I did and turns out I became some crazy dark witch who was catching and killing everyone. It was pretty bleak but I looked pretty badass, so you win some you lose some, y’know. I didn’t catch or kill you though, so you’re safe” Makena shrugged and then made a face. “Our coven’s looking at me weird again though. I’m pretty sure they think I’m going to leave and go over to the dark side.”
Tumblr media
-
“Better to be bad then good,” he joked. Kass had never been well behaved but he knew his version of mischief was nothing compared to the trouble that the other witch could get into. He happened to like that about her though.
“You know, I think I was meant to be surprised by that information but somehow I’m not,” he chuckled. “I don’t think you should end up some crazy dark witch cause you know, murder’s bad,” he pointed out. It was just one future though, anything could change that timeline and it seems like showing this future had already changed that. “Aww, I knew I was your favourite, Mak,” he chuckled.
Tumblr media
Makena had been in enough trouble already that the coven was wary of her behaviour. That wasn’t something he could help with because it was all perception. “Well, are you? Are you going to take me with you?”

Wren suppressed a roll of his eyes and instead moved to close some of the gap between them. “I am. I was a surgeon back in the day. I’m afraid the whole thing may need to be removed.” He replied, finding some amusement in his own terrible humour, before he glanced towards the door.
Tumblr media
“Come with me? This will need to be outside.” Wren nodded towards the bartender who had been lending him the book, tucking it under his arm, as he led Kass from the bar to a nearby park bench on the other side of the road. It was sheltered by trees, away from the prying eyes of any humans on a late night bar crawl. “My last name is Evenfall, just so that you know.” He told him as they sat. “Look up for me.”
-
He knew this was a bad impression to make on someone, especially someone who was an elder in the city but Kass was too drunk to really think about the consequences right now. “Were you really? Can’t you just heal things?” he asked, surprised that Wren would have bothered to go through the struggles of surgery. Kass had his own healing abilities and by that, he meant he could brew a healing potion when he needed it.
Tumblr media
He nodded, following Wren outside into the cool night air. He held his hand to his nose, stopping any bleeding that might still be happening. Flopping down onto the park bench, he sat with his head back before pulling himself closer to the elf so he could inspect him. “Evenfall,” he repeated with a nod. Doing as he told, he put his head back.. He could taste the copper taste of blood on his tongue as it dripped down his throat. “So, what’s the diagnosis, doc? You cutting it off?”

earth day | kassandros & makena
“Your knees are fine,” Makena laughed as she hopped off his back to land herself back on the ground.
“Don’t accuse me of crimes I have yet to commit, Kassy. You’ll be giving away my master plans,” she grinned, but she was unfortunately not holding on to any eggs that day nor did she have any opportunities under the watchful eyes of the elves to do so. She had definitely thought about it before, but stealing from the dragons at an event run by the elves did not seem like a good idea by a long shot.
“Hey. Did you go and get your alternate future divined?”
-
“I spend a lot of time on my knees so I’m allowed to complain,” he quipped.
The grin on his friend’s face was all he needed to know. It hadn’t happened but only because Makena hadn’t had the chance yet. In all the years they’d known her, they had gotten into enough trouble for a life time. It didn’t stop Kass from enjoying her company though, she was the one who made sure he had fun as well. His lips pursed, shaking his head. “So no good eggs lying around then?” he asked.
“Nah, fuck that. I don’t need that hanging over my head. Why? Did you?” he asked. Everyone had been curious, considering how the divination was offered but Kass didn’t need to know how he died or how he screwed up in an alternate timeline that might never happen.

“As much as I enjoy watching toxic masculinity unfold in front of me, I thought I’d save us all the inconvenience.” Wren answered simply. Plus, it was quite evident how intoxicated Kass was an Wren didn’t think it was neighbourly to watch him get hit again. “Would you like me to heal that for you?” The elf asked, “It looks broken, Mister Zuberi.”
Tumblr media
-
“Sometimes toxic masculinity can be hot,” he argued with a grin. Maybe he wouldn’t feel that way in the morning but he was still drunk enough to think it was amusing. Maybe he should have a better sense of self preservation but Kass had never been good at that. “Oh?” he asked, raising a hand to his nose. He rubbed the back of his hand against his nose, seeing it come back with a stripe of blood. “Hmm, yeah, it’s probably broken. Are you a healer, Mr Wren?” he asked, realising he didn’t know his surname to say back at him in return.

“There’s a few,” Leon pointed out as a deep, amused chuckle bellowed up through his chest. “You really should head home now, sweetheart,” he added with a bit of encouragement laced into his voice, taking pity on the witch. Leon glamoured individuals often, but usually it was for his own benefit– not theirs. “Run along while you have the chance. There are creatures far scarier than me out tonight.”
Tumblr media
-
He was almost certain that there was danger looming in the darkness now that he could not see with his eyes but the man beside him could. Turning to look at him, he was distracted by Leon’s eyes for a moment. His voice sounded like honey though he didn’t realise what the man was doing. “I think you’re right. It’s getting late,” he said, feeling compelled to get up and keep going. “Thank you for sharing your bench for me, even for a short time,” he said. The idea of something scarier out there made him glance around before giving the vampire a nod. “Have a good night.”

earth day | kassandros & makena
for: @kasszuberi location: vievecor city park
Makena loved it whenever Earth Day celebrations came about because it meant magical creatures. She loved it whenever the elves opened up the secret parts of the park to the supernatural community because this rare occasion only happened once a year. Makena also loved magical creature migration and when she found out that it was dragons this year, she immediately volunteered.
Now that she had been stationed by Yunlong’s area for awhile, it was about time she took a break and she pulled out her phone to shoot Kass a text to meet her near the hammocks so that they could share a much-deserved drink together.
“Kassy!” Makena practically yelled when she saw him and ran over to practically jump onto his back. “I haven’t seen you in ages. Did you get taller?”
-
Kass might not have been an elf but he felt like he got just as excited about the Earth Day holiday. While he didn’t have the magical creature knowledge like a certain witch he knew, he did always volunteer to help. Most of the time it meant he helped with the food for the animals. This year was a lot because as Kass was finding out, dragon’s ate a lot.
Even though it felt like hard work, Kass enjoyed it as a change from his normal day to day. Plus, he could hang out with friends. When he got Makena’s message, he excused himself and made the way over to the hammocks.
It felt like he had some kind of sixth sense about Makena because he was ready for her. When she pounced on him, he miraculously managed to catch her before either of them landed on the floor. “If I have, it won’t be for long when you break my knees,” he chuckled, looking over his shoulder at her.
“How’ve you been, Mak?” he asked, squatting slightly so she could jump down from his back. “Haven’t stolen a dragon yet, have you?” he asked, looking her over to see if she had an egg hidden somewhere.

“Would you judge me if I said both?” Leon grinned, giving a toothy grin and flashing a fang as he said, “Although I’d settle for a witch.” It was more than apparent how drunk the male was, and it felt a bit like a cat playing with a mouse as he tip toed around outright stating he was also indeed a vampire.
Tumblr media
-
“I think I’m far from the right person to judge,” he admitted with a shrug. “I’m not sure I’ve ever done it on a full moon but I’ve waited for a wolf.” Kass caught a glimpse of the fang and he shook his head, wondering if he was imagining it. With how the conversation had gone, he decided that he likely wasn’t. Now he was starting to feel like the rat that had walked straight into a trap. Kass wasn’t running though, he didn’t know if he wanted to run just yet. “Oh, do you know any hanging around?” he asked.

wren-evenfall:
Before Wren could say anymore, the man had drawn Kass back into a direct a punch in the nose. Men and their bar fights, Wren thought to himself with a roll of his eyes. Stepping in front of Kass before the man could wrench him upwards for another punch, Wren cleared his throat, “I think that’s enough for one evening, don’t you?” He asked the far taller gentleman. Wren wasn’t exactly proud of using his beauty aura, but it did have its uses and it was fairly discreet in front of humans. The man seemed momentarily stunned into gazing at him, and Wren picked up a glass of something Kass had obviously ordered for himself and was yet to be drunk. “For you. I’m sorry for the spillage.” He added calmly, and the man wandered off into a booth close to the back.
“You were saying?” Wren’s dark eyes honed in on Kass.
Tumblr media
-
Kass admittedly wasn’t expecting to be punched in the face, especially because he didn’t think he was the one at fault in the first place. Cursing loudly, the witch stumbled back, holding the bridge of his nose as he willed it not to bleed or be broken. He watched as Wren handled the situation, seeing the blinding aura of beauty from the other side of things was interesting. The situation quickly dispersed with everything feeling happy about it, except maybe Kass. “I was saying I could handle it,” he said, unable to filter his thoughts when he was intoxicated.
“He was a prick. You should have let me hit him back,” Kass said, though he made no move to follow up on that threat.

xu-ying-feng:
Theodore’s grin widened. His survival instincts were kicking in about now; his heart was racing, pumping blood into his legs so he could run. Unfortunately, he could not run from his own demise, crafted by his own hands. Damn it, he had forgotten he was socially awkward.
Tumblr media
“Then I assume you are needed, in due time?” Park. Park good. “Then I won’t trouble you for long, um, maybe a walk to the park, it’d be nice to get you know you.” Theodore said. “Then I’ll return you to your apple store.”
-
The excited little grin on his face made him chuckle, feeling a little flushed. He had always known that elves had beauty auras but even without it on, he could feel that radiating from Theo’s smile. He hadn’t expected to be asked on a date either so it was turning out to be a great Valentine’s Day for him.
Tumblr media
“At some stage, probably midday,” he agreed, deciding to give himself the morning off. He chuckled, it wasn’t exactly an apple store but that close enough for now. “I think it’s a wonderful day for a walk in the park,” he agreed. “I’d like to know more about what you do when you’re not at the apple store.”

valentines | eiji & kass
He laughed. “Dad’s too busy overworking himself to overwork me. This horrible work ethic is one hundred percent hereditary.” A good natured grin to minimize what he said, even though it just made the context behind his flu worse. But hey, he was entirely responsible for everything… in more ways than one.
A pause, and he kicked his feet for a minute, feeling very much like he’d lost a lot of his game in the past couple of years. “Speaking of breaks though, uh, if you have some time a walk would be nice?”
-
That didn’t surprise him. He didn’t know much of the Remington leader but everyone said he worked hard. To Kass, that meant workaholic. It looked like he instilled that same behaviour with his son. “That just sounds like you’ve never had a good holiday. Working is only worth it if you get that holiday at the end of it,” he replied. It was a different way of looking at life. Kass enjoyed what he did but if it stopped paying him, he’d find another job.
Eiji looked almost sheepish and it caused the tall man to grin. Maybe he could still flirt with people while he was sober. Normally it only worked when he wasn’t. “Yeah, I love a good walk. Fresh air and all that,” he agreed. Turning in one direction, he tugged on Eiji’s sleeve for him to follow. “Okay, important questions first though. What’s your ideal breakfast?”

More often than not, Kassandros knew he would fair better if he just went home after work. The problem was that home was lonely and quiet, two things that the witch did not enjoy. That was how he ended up in bars, finding company in the strangers he would take home or with friends he would make for a few hours before forgetting their names. The friends he had made that night weren’t as friendly as he had other nights. Kass might have been drunk but he knew when someone was being a bigot.
Tumblr media
Throwing his drink wasn’t the best idea but he could get another. “Wren?” he questioned, turning once he heard his name. “Quite alright, nothing I can’t -” The man he’d accidentally poured his drink over had decided his next course of action, pulling Kass back before swinging a bunch towards his face.
