a thing that will forever amuse me is the movie fandom’s depiction of the relationship between gandalf and pippin. like “haha old man is annoyed by younger man” is funny on its own but what most of them don’t know is:

gandalf is an entity, an angelic being taking up human form who is older than time itself. pippin ‘i exist to spite god’ took is like 17. this is a teenager constantly fucking up an ancient being.

pippin is the biggest minor inconvenience in gandalf’s life.

Anyway, the reason Biden is even more dangerous than Trump in some respects is bc the “lesser evil” argument makes people complacent.

The excuse will always be “well ok sure it’s bad & his policies are shit & yeah he‘s racist & yes he might be too handsy with women & yes we remember his treatment of Anita Hill & yes he participated in drone-striking civilians abroad & true, he did help deport record numbers of people...but the Republican boogeyman will be woooorse.” Blue conservatives like Biden don’t face resistance from centrists, libs & the center-left, so its easier to enact harmful policies & a new center-right SC justice (at best).

That should be just as scary as Trump, who only really differs in that he’s brazen enough to say the fascist part out loud.

i told my family about the rabbinic definition of a “wall” as “a barrier that impedes the passage of goats” and my mother was so delighted by this that weeks later she showed me a photo of a baby goat squeezing itself under a gate and was like “this is NOT a wall!”
