For my final project, I chose to use the complementary colors unit and the album cover unit to combine my abstract art. I got to express both units within this one piece because I recreated the Bruno Mars album through line work and name bases while also using purple and yellow as complementary colors to complete the art. This is abstract in ways that the lines are not all straight or perfectly curved, but it is original and inspired.

As you could have probably guessed, this is Electra. She is made from mostly used electrical components. Her arms, hands, legs, and feet are made up of insulated wire, wire nuts/connectors, and alligator clips. Her torso is an outlet, while her waist and buttocks are an old rabbit toy. Her head consist of a broken solar lamp top, cut out face from a magazine, and a stolen hair scrunchy from my youngest daughter. Contrary to popular belief, Electra enjoys spending her time at the beach soaking up the suns rays after a morning filled with water skiing!! I have made her "dance" by attaching fishing line to her legs and arms back to a cross controller. By moving the cross up/down, left and right, would depend on what part of her body moves.

For my puppet, I used a Chipotle kids chip bag as the body, cut out arms and legs out of paper, a skewer to make the handle to move the puppet. Her name is Sally and her two favorite colors are purple and blue, hence why her outfit are these colors! She loves to dance which is why I chose the song APT. by Bruno Mars and Rosé.

For my surrealism project, I made a bracelet out of old fabric from my bed. I used a braiding style to make the design and long straps to tie around the wrist.

These are augmented reality glasses that are basically a device that can give you information as you see it, literally. This gives an opportunity for those who wear these glasses to understand new information as fast as the real world does.

This post uses browns and pinks in the background involving multiple shapes, both regular and non regular. Then for the human figure out of the collage, I used a palm tree for the body, lips to form the face, an actual hand, and flowers as the arms.

For this Cubism assignment, I decided to sit down & draw different shapes with each color marker. With circles, squares, triangles, zig zags, and some random shapes I made my background. I then cut out some lace pieces from a magazine and centered them with some circles I drew to make an abstract type face.

I chose to draw this photo of my boyfriend because I think he is the perfect example of light heartedness and kindness. The yellow and orange represent this the most because I think of sunshine and sunsets, in which people associate these things with beauty and happiness, which is what he brings into my life.

This is the most famous catch of modern football history by OBJ on the Giants and I think it deserves recognition of Impressionism. This shows the true natural talent of these athletes and their one of kind abilities to perform these acts. I will never forget this because this is the catch that got me truly into watching the game.

I chose this picture of Lindsay Lohan because it is clear that her body is modified using photoshop. The wall in the background is curved when she attempted to enhance her curves. In today’s world of beauty on social media, both women and men are influenced by photos they see on platforms of so called “perfect bodies” which influences them to change how they look on social media as well. I’m sure all of us at this age have experienced insecurities about how we look based on other we see online and have participated in photoshop, or at least thought about doing it.

Although there has been a rise in the body positivity movement which helps us see “normal” bodies that are real, this does not necessarily mean that everyone can feel good about themselves as they are. I don’t believe that photoshopping will ever completely stop due to celebrities trying to keep their image both figuratively and literally, but I hope that the more people know about it the less photoshopping we will see.

I really enjoyed this project because there was a lot of meaning behind just copying a photo found on the internet. It really made me think of how photoshop impacts many people even if it is not as clear as many may think. I hope seeing the amount of photoshopped images that are out there gives students a sense of calmness knowing that what you see on the internet is not always as it seems.

I chose two of my classmates artworks to inspire my creativity. Both of the artworks I chose have the nature-inspired aesthetic that led me to creating a tree, flowers, and butterflies while using the colors included in both pieces. I contrasted the colored pencil by adding marker to emphasize the tree and butterflies within the piece.

For the first Homework assignment I went with the Jvke Catalogue Album cover. I wanted to go with more of a peaceful album cover and trees are very symbolic in representation of growth and beauty. I went with brighter colors and added colors to the white flowers as I do love a pop of color and I also added more floral pieces and a hummingbird cutout.

As for my favorite song on the album it would have to be “Her”.

Homework #1

I chose the album "I Told Them..." by Burna Boy. I chose to use magazine clippings, colored pencils, and markers. The inspiration I took was from the general layout of the album cover. I have the human subject in the middle, and then I also took inspiration from the text style. I put a "bread" spin on the album, replacing "I Told Them" with "I Made Bread". The subject of my piece is also wielding a bread knife, and a slide of bread can be seen with a sad face to his right. I enjoy cooking and I love food, so I felt that this was an appropriate and funny way to make the album cover my own.

I used purple and yellow as my complimentary color combination background. The outfit that I created uses a flower bed for a skirt, quilt for the top, crayons for the shoes, and a kangaroo as the person wearing my outfit. I believe that the flowers and quilt embody the color scheme of yellow and purple since they are very spring time colors. The kangaroo represents nature found when spring arises.

The album I chose is a dual album that fit together like a puzzle. It is called “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old” by Luke Combs. My favorite song from the album is also the name of the album which fits perfectly with the storyline of the album itself. I chose this because I feel as a senior, I am reflecting on my time through childhood, teenage years, and now into the young adult stage. My artwork deceives my version of growing up and getting old just like the two albums that fit together of Luke Combs times growing up. On the left describes my home in Buffalo and my childhood love for playing outside. The right describes my current life at St. Bonaventure and the house I live in Allegany.
