Development-
After shooting outside I feel that these images are better suited for my outcome presentation. Though there are natural shadows on the backdrop I feel this contextualise the work better. I took a few more dynamic shots of pages turning and close ups of the imagery finishes. I felt adding images of the pages turning gave it a bit more movement, showing how the paper stock holds in use.

Development-
For presenting my final work I used the photography studio at uni. After going through the pictures I felt that the background was too stale for the context and narrative of the work, it didn't present the work as well as I thought it would. I tried increasing the exposure, highlight, white balance etc but it washed out the content. Its most likely due to my lack of experience with a studio set up, I didn't set up the lighting well and there was many shadows on the backdrop. Because of this I will experiment with shooting outside in natural lighting, something I am more familiar with but also I feel will help the imagery and colours within the issues stand out better. I feel having a direct light will also show the paper stock better.

New grid layout for Portfolio redesign. Adding more columns gave me more flexibility in the layout. I moved the titles and project outlines down the side to guide the viewers eye better. A more harmonious read

Portfolio Redesign Pt 1
The feedback I received from my tutorial from Justin was to reduce the number of pages and projects within my portfolio. This should only contain my best work. Starting on a high and finishing on a high. He also recommended to make the overall design more cohesive with itself and find an overall identity. I originally had vibrant colours for the title and end pages but upon reflection, looking at my work that isn't very me. As a result I reduced the colour palette to an off white, charcoal black and red. This was more fitting to my style of work. Another suggestion was to add the webdings that I used at the beginning and end throughout the portfolio. I took this onboard and gave each project 2 webdings based on what medium the work was based on. A pencil for branding, a book for book design, video game controller for game design. This helped reflect my identity throughout the work. I removed projects that I didn't feel best represented my abilities - such as Dorset Schoolwear and Outreach. After adding in more recent work I feel it has shown my abilities better.
