Katie Love is a passionate doctor, inspirational leader, and outdoor enthusiast. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with an honours degree in Health Sciences. As the valedictorian of her class in Medical School, she enjoyed sharing her passion for pediatrics. After graduating, Katie did not follow the typical route with her medical degree and joined an organization to spend a year in Uganda, Africa. She and her team saved thousands of orphan children who were dying from malaria and tuberculosis due to their poor living conditions. This life-changing experience drastically altered her perspective. Katie is now twenty-seven years old, and she and her husband spend four months each year living in a small brick house in Uganda. She acts as a doctor, teacher, friend and mother to the beautiful children of this country. Serving these wonderfully joyful people has been her greatest pleasure. Katie spends the remainder of the year working her dream job and truly loves every moment as a pediatrician in emergency care at North Island Hospital Comox Valley. She feels immensely blessed with this opportunity to fulfill her childhood dream. A wonderful beach house on the coast of Vancouver Island is where Katie and her husband call home with their Border Collie. Her three-day weekends are spent snowboarding with friends at Whistler and Blackcomb Ski Resort, sailing around the island with her father, and training for triathlons. Exploring new hikes and trying anything and everything new is right up her alley. In this chaotic lifestyle that she has always desired, Katie has never felt happier or more fulfilled. Her profound passion for healthcare, nature, and helping others, along with her bubbly personality has been a gift for all to see what it truly means to live life to its fullest.
