Been replaying Pokémon Black lately and I realized something about the first gym.

Chili, Cress. And Cilan’s names are are abreviated versions of foods that relate to their Pokémon types.

Chili, who uses fire Pokémon, is short for Chili Pepper

Cress, who uses water Pokémon, is short for Watercress

Which means that our beloved Cilan, a grass type trainer, is actually nicknamed for his full name:

Cilantro

When I was a kid, the very first time I ever hear Shia LaBeouf’s name was in the legendary Rob Cantor song about him being a caniball who lives in the woods, killing for sport. Sure, most popular modern country music is bad, but, like, the women of country music are still absolutely knocking it out of the park. I’m especially HERE for the very specific sub-genre of country songs that are about women murdering abusive men and getting away with it. These female country artists are out here keeping the tradition of story telling in country music alive while also striking out against the pervasive social norms of the south that tend to keep women in abusive or unfaithful relationships or family situations in order to save face socially.
