As previously stated, this page was delayed by a job application - I apologise! Hopefully it’ll be worth the wait: while still fairly innocent, this is the most PG-rated page of Mudskipper thus far in terms of both violence and language. I’ll be contributing to @gfanimate; here's the style/designs I’m gonna use plus some key pose thumbnails! I figured, what with Ford’s glasses and the whole sixer thing, these two probably aren’t completely identical so I let myself have a little fun with shape language: my goal is to ensure that even someone who’s never seen Gravity Falls will know a bit about their personalities just by looking at them. I think I can pull it off by April - I admit I’m a little behind compared to some other participants but since I developed this lineless style in uni with efficiency in mind (this way the colouring doesn’t have to be totally precise), I’ve at least stacked the odds in my favour!

I think this week’s page might be the first one where I completely eschewed the “column of four 16-by-9 panels” format I laid out for the comic at the beginning. This matches the ambitiousness of chapter 5 compared to the previous four, at least in terms of the scope of locations our heroes will visit; I don’t mean that as a boast (if anything, it’s an admonishment to my past self for biting off more than she can chew) but I think it’s fair to admit I’m quite proud of how it’s turning out, and that I hope you’ll enjoy my efforts.

Kattodex #151: Mew

This one’s definitely an old favourite of mine that I desperately wanted to do justice to! If Pokémon like Grimer and Trubbish are “ugly-cute,” Mew is “elegant-cute” and I’m quite proud of how I managed to put my own take on the simplicity of her design.

So, as they said in the PokéRap: that’s all folks! Will I make the leap to Johto and beyond? It’s within the realm of possibility, but for now I think I’ll just relax and bask in the glory of the Hall Of Fame as a trainer who caught ‘em all. ...and tackle the even harder quest of becoming a functional adult, of course.

Kattodex #149: Dragonite

Unlike a lot of people I actually like this guy's fat cuddliness, though a more gradual transition from 'tini to 'nite would be nice. I tried to capture that in my slight redesigns; after I do the Mews I’ll miss the challenge of improving on the Pokes while keeping them recognisable... unless, of course, I continue on to generation II. I’ll have to give that some thought!

I had some technical difficulties that didn’t directly affect my ability to finish this project, but which required me to run around like a headless chicken looking for the best price on repairs.
