Should you adopt a senior cat?
In my opinion, adopting a senior cat can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience for any pet lover. Adult cats tend to be more laid-back and calm compared to younger kittens. Senior cats tend to be less destructive and more affectionate. While they may have some special needs, like managing arthritis or dietary restrictions, they are still full of love and can bring years of joy into your home. One of the best things about adopting a senior cat is that they’re usually already litter trained, which makes the adjustment easier. I am not saying you have to get a senior cat, but if you are looking for a cat that is calm, affectionate, and already trained, then an adult cat is perfect for you! Remember, it’s important to provide a cozy space, regular vet check-ups, and love. Good luck!

Why do cats purr?
Cats purr for a few different reasons. While mostly it is because they are happy, there are other reasons too!
Happiness and Relaxation. When a cat is curled up on your lap, eyes half-closed, and purring? That’s usually a sign of comfort, safety, and affection.
Healing. The frequency of a cat’s purr can promote bone healing, reduce pain, and decrease inflammation. Cats may purr when injured or stressed to calm themselves down and help their body recover.
Stress or pain. Cats also purr when they’re sick, anxious, or in pain. It’s kind of like how people hum or talk to themselves in tough situations, it can be comforting.
Communication. Kittens start purring when they’re just a few days old to help bond with their mother. Adult cats may use purring to signal to humans or other cats that they’re not a threat.

how to know if ur cat is sick
Cats are masters at hiding illness, so it’s important to watch for subtle changes in behavior. If your cat is suddenly more tired, not eating, or using the litter box differently, these could be signs something’s off. Vomiting, diarrhea, labored breathing, or excessive grooming can also be signs. Even small changes in weight or meowing patterns can be early red flags. When in doubt, it’s always safer to schedule a vet visit — early detection can make a big difference in treatment and recovery. You don't want to wait too long. If the signs are lasting for longer than twenty four to forty eight hours, call the vet.

Want to take a picture of your cat?
When it comes to trying to take pictures of my cat, she always looks the opposite way of the camera. It is almost like she's allergic to photography! If your cat does this, I have some tips for you! Positive reinforcement is going to be your best friend in this scenario. You can use treats, catnip, or toys to get their attention. If you want them to look directly at your camera, hold those options up to your lens. Lastly, just make a noise to get your cats attention! Try using something that they don't normally hear, to pique their interest. If this does not work don't get discouraged. It can take a few tries to get your cat to look at the camera. If you keep practicing, eventually they will start to associate the camera with positive experiences. Good luck!

Bathing your cat
In terms of grooming your cat, bathing is probably one of the hardest to accomplish. Cats don't typically like being in water. So how can you make this task easier for both you and your cat? One of my main tips is to use a cup or handheld sprayer to wet them. I don't recommend putting them directly under a faucet, as they will most likely freak out. Then, apply a small amount of shampoo and gently rub it into their fur. Lastly, make sure you rinse thoroughly. Any residue of shampoo can irritate their skin. My last piece of advice, is to not over bathe them. Cat's are generally pretty clean as they can clean themselves! However, every once and a while a bath helps keep them spotless!

Cat won't stop scratching?
Just because your cat is scratching everything in sight, does not mean they are aggressive. There are many reasons cats scratch. One of the first reasons is to sharpen their claws. Scratching helps cats remove the outer layer of their claws, which keeps them sharp and in good condition. Another reason is boredom. Cats may scratch a lot if they are bored or lack a good amount of stimulation. If this bothers you, you can provide them with more toys! Lastly, some cats might just enjoy scratching and can have developed a habit of scratching specific objects or surfaces. So, if these apply to your cat, I wouldn't worry!

Want to train your cat?
Here are my top tips for wanting to train your cat! I recommend starting early. You want to begin training your cat as a kitten, because they are more receptive at a younger age. Another tip is to keep your training sessions short. Cat's have short attention spans, so keep your sessions about 10-15 minutes. You can do this multiple times a day, but don't go out of that time frame each time. My last tip is to be as consistent as possible. You want to use the same cues such as words or hand signals. This will make your cat understand easier, and learn much quicker!

Cat greeting you at the door every time you come home?
Many cats greet their owners to show affection. But, how do they know you are entering the house each time? Cats are very smart. Your cat can likely recognize the sound of your car, your footsteps, or even your keys jingling before you even reach the door. They can also pick up your scent from your clothes or car before you enter the house. In addition, as cats thrive off routine, they probably have learned to associate your arrival with certain events, like play- time or dinner- time. Which makes them all the more excited to see you!

Cat Sleeping with you but leaves when you move or try to pet her?
My cat sleeps with me every night, but for some reason anytime i try and pet her, she gets up and leaves. For so long, I took it personal and thought my cat just wasn't comfortable enough around me. However, that is not necessarily the case. Cats are creatures of habit, and feel more secure if it seems like they have control over their environment or interactions. So while they are trying to sleep or relax, if they get up when you pet them, its because they aren't constantly craving physical touch and would prefer to go up to you if they want to be pet. Them not wanting to be pet, is not a sign of dislike. In fact, them choosing to sleep next to you is a sign of affection and a way for them to show you they feel calm, safe, and comfortable in your presence!

Measuring your cats food
Everyone feeds their cats differently. Some people use dry food, some use wet, some provide goat milk or other supplements. But, one thing that all cat owners should do is measure their food. Firstly, it helps to avoid weight gain. It ensures that they aren't overeating to the point where they put on a significant amount of weight. In addition, it helps you be able to realize if your cat is not eating enough. If you use the same amount of food every time you can see exactly how much is left in the bowl, rather than it being a different amount left each day. While it is not necessary to measure your cats food, it is definitely beneficial if you want to ensure your cat has healthy eating habits.

Indoor vs Outdoor cat?
How to decide if your cat prefers being an indoor cat or an outdoor cat? The answer is not a definite yes or no. I know a lot of cat owners prefer their fur babies to be indoor, since the outdoors has a lot of risks such as traffic, diseases, and predators. However, most people don't realize there are also risks when your cat is only indoors. If your cat stays inside for too long, they can have boredom, stress, and develop behavioral issues. Alongside the risks, there are enrichments in both options. If they are indoors, make sure you provide many toys, scratch posts, cat trees, and window perches to stimulate your cat's mind and body. If you choose to have an outdoor cat, you can create a safe space for your cat to roam freely so that they avoid the outdoor risks. Both options contain positives and negatives, so either choice can be beneficial to your cat, just make sure to provide opportunities for your cat to stay safe!
