❛ i’m not sorry. ❜
❛ i’m not sorry. ❜
“I can tell.” The demon sighed, already growing more and more tired of how the boy could be so stubborn and so annoying at the same time— plus he was almost forced there, swallowing down his pride just to make sure everything would be ok and no one, under any circumstances, would seek for some kind of revenge or something that might hurt other people who shouldn't be involved in a literal street fight. “Look, I know— I shouldn't have treated you like that, I was a little rude, I agree. But you can't expect me to keep quiet watching you with your damn m—” Sighing deeply to keep from letting his reason slip away, Kayl swept his black hair out of his face, trying to start over once again. “I was wrong, you were wrong, you don't want to apologize, alright, I understand. I don't need your apologies, let's just forget about this mess and live as nothing happened.”, he suggested, hoping that now the boy would at least agree and the weird atmosphere between them could dissipate for good.

[ CARESS ]
[ CARESS ] for one muse to possessively kiss the other in public.
Kayl, the demon who had always been confidential about his private life, always careful to talk about certain subjects, meticulous even with whom he would share certain moments of his life— now was leaning against the jet black vehicle, the seriousness all over his features and body language, not liking a single bit of what he was seeing. It was a conflict of feelings existing inside his chest, to see Gael walking with a guy with bright pink hair, about his height and who looked like a big goofy idiot smiling while talking about some topic he, unfortunately, couldn't listen to. Jealousy was prevalent, and while he never once doubted the moonsprite's intentions and purity, he didn't believe half a percent of anyone else who crossed Gael's path.
When the other man stopped a few feet away from the car and watched the moonsprite walk towards himself, the demon took the opportunity to stare at him, literally in a menacing, threatening way; enough to make him understand what was going on. Seconds later though, his expression softened and he greeted his partner with both arms around the small frame, pressing Gael against himself tightly while sealing their lips in a possessive, explicit and completely exaggerated kiss. They were in a public space, and several students and even teachers walked around the courtyard. Knowing that quite well though, it wasn't enough to stop the demon with his reactions, only wanting to make it clear to anyone watching them, that the beautiful creature inside his arms was unavailable, even to look at.

❜ ❛ i’m on your side. ❜ ❛ i risked my life for you! ❜ ❛ whatever you’re going to ask, the answer is no. ❜ ❛ you can stay with me. ❜ ❛ i just need time. ❜ ❛ please don’t do this, don’t act like you care. ❜ ❛ who the hell invited you? ❜ ❛ what? no witty remark? nothing clever to say? ❜ ❛ i just wanted to say i’m sorry. ❜ ❛ think of it as a compliment. ❜ ❛ do you ever stop being so serious and dull? ❜ ❛ it’s rare to see your kind around here. ❜ ❛ you remember me. that’s good. ❜ ❛ you’re a terrible flirt you know. ❜ ❛ are you kidding me? we’re not ‘fine’! ❜ ❛ right now i wish i was dead. ❜ ❛ i guess i should’ve told you. ❜ ❛ you’re not alone. i’m here. ❜ ❛ you’ve been so quiet. what’s on your mind? ❜ ❛ knowledge is power. ❜ ❛ you scared me. ❜ ❛ well, what’s so strange about that? ❜ ❛ don’t look at me like that. ❜ ❛ i want to be there when you get what’s coming to you. ❜ ❛ just who do you think you are? ❜ ❛ you look… amazing. ❜ ❛ we’re safe, aren’t we? ❜ ❛ you know, i really hoped i’d never see this place again. ❜ ❛ don’t touch me. get away from me. ❜ ❛ i thought you’d like this. ❜ ❛ it’s too dark, i can’t see anything. ❜ ❛ what’s that smug look for? you think you can do any better? ❜ ❛ who did you piss off this time? ❜ ❛ you should’ve thought about that before you got into a fight. ❜ ❛ i only wanted to help. ❜ ❛ you knew and you didn’t tell me? ❜ ❛ you don’t scare me. ❜ ❛ wow, look who remembered my existence. ❜ ❛ change isn’t easy. ❜ ❛ why did you help me? ❜ ❛ why do you hate me? ❜ ❛ i can’t even trust myself anymore. ❜ ❛ i was making sure you weren’t dead, since you never called. ❜ ❛ you look awful. what happened? ❜ ❛ are you here to kill me? ❜ ❛ you know you aren’t allowed in here, right? ❜ ❛ was that a friend of yours? ❜ ❛ two years later and you haven’t changed. ❜ ❛ you look like you just saw a ghost. ❜ ❛ nobody tells me what to do. ❜ ❛ you’re too scared to do it, aren’t you? ❜ ❛ come on. it can’t be that bad. ❜ ❛ i hope to repay your kindness someday. ❜ ❛ just let me do this for you. ❜ ❛ why were they coming after you? ❜ ❛ how many people have you killed? how many? ❜ ❛ how much do you value your life? ❜ ❛ you don’t know when to give up, do you? ❜ ❛ don’t lie to me. ❜ ❛ i’m not sober enough to talk about this. ❜ ❛ have a drink with me. ❜

𝚋𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚖𝚎 𝚒𝚗 // 𝚐𝚊𝚎𝚕&𝚔𝚊𝚢𝚕
As the question was addressed, a mischievous, playful smile crept upon Gael’s lips, motioning the corners of his lips upwards, the spirit taking advantage of the pause imposed to their kiss to pull himself up slightly. Words were, indeed, unnecessary, and he knew it, as much as Kayl did. The desire was clear from his actions, from his touches, from the was his eyes sparkled with the flame that burned inside his chest, staring deeply and intently into the demon’s brown pair. Regardless, for the sake of the little game that started between them, he responded. “To no good.” His voice was soft, a whisper almost, yet not lacking that hint of misbehaviour that his answer eluded to. A good kind of misbehaviour however, one that, the spirit knew, they would both enjoy.
Upon feeling the demon’s hands travelling down his back, aiming for and seizing his hips, Gael lowered his frame once again, their faces close enough to one another that the spirit could feel the man’s hot breath against his skin. Delighted, his lips parted, welcoming Kayl inside his mouth as their tongue brushed and twirled against one another in a passionate kiss, one that played with the spirit’s senses, causing a tingle to form right beneath his skin as soft hums escaped his chest right into the other’s mouth. He couldn’t deny how much he loved the way Kayl made him feel, the way he tasted, not even once failing to awaken his deepest desires, to put a fire in his loins that consumed him. A thirst that could never be quenched, always longing for more of that intoxicating aroma the demon’s lips carried.
The huge grin appearing on his face after Gael's words was as evident as ever, just like the glimmer inside his brown orbs, these being able to speak more than his own voice could in those moments. Wanting, indeed, to speak, but saving his words for the next opportunity as at the present moment his interest was beyond what words could ever explain; yet Kayl used the same tool, his mouth, to somehow make the other understand all that desire and the fire burning his core was totally mutual. Devouring the moonsprite's thin lips, his head tilted slightly to the side while hands began to roam the extent of his body where they could reach; all the way up to his back, then just one palm down the same way, slowly and carefully sliding down to his right thigh, tugging it closer with a will, as if he needed Gael's body to be tightly pressed against his.
“Sometimes I wonder...” Kayl began as his lips left Gael's pair, but not his skin. Reddish lips demonstrating a short smile, voice muffled by the skin that still receiving soft kisses from the demon on his chin, at the corner of his lips, sliding down to his neck and wrapping the pair around his Adam's apple for a couple of moments, sucking the exposed skin there while the tip of his tongue played in secret. “How can there be someone like you in this world... The purest definition of beauty inside my arms. You see? How can you be real?” The demon showed a passionate smile to Gael, hiding his face in the spirit's neck with the intention of nuzzling the spot, kissing all bit of skin exposed to him, to cherish and love such a beautiful being that was his and his alone. The thought induced a tingle running through his entire body, and the kisses that were being given became intense; the demon lavished his neck with sloppy kisses while hands lost the soft touch from earlier, greedily in need to feel the younger boy on top of him better under his digits, thirstily to listen to his soft hums resonating the room.

gael-ia:
𝚝𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚑𝚘𝚖𝚎 // 𝚔𝚊𝚎𝚕
There was no hope for him, or so he thought as the small, grey-furred animals kept appearing from underneath the ground, from up the brick walls, from all directions possible and physically impossible alike, one by one clinging onto the fabrics of his clothes as the travelled up his body, as if aiming to suffocate him under their weight. His cries for help echoed in that space, but to no avail. It seemed like no one heard him, or if they did, they had no intention to come to his aid, leaving him prey to those embodied terrors that were now tormenting him. It didn’t last long, however. Not as long as the moonsprite thought, as for Gael each single moment felt like an eternity in itself. And as he was desperately trying to climb that brick wall to find shelter, a loud sound echoed from up above, ashy purple hues immediately snapping towards the sky in that instant.
In awe, the spirit beheld the Moon, its’ light becoming dimmer and dimmer by the second, lines travelling all across its’ surface, creating other crevices that spread in all directions, forming a sort of web of dark lines and, to his astonishment, particles of dust fell down from the sky, followed by pieces of rock that little by little grew in size. Without even realizing the detail, Gael was no longer surrounded by those rats, the street now empty, yet his nails still clung onto the harsh bricks, destroyed at this point by all the failed attempts to cling onto the surface. He could not feel a single trace of pain, not even the open wounds that covered the tips of his fingers. The spirit was too captured by the scene, too paralyzed by the pained moans coming from the sky, so intense, so loud, like a celestial beast agonizing as they met their final moments. The particles of dust coming from high above stuck onto his wet cheeks, his eyes itching from forgetting to even blink as he beheld the downfall of the figure that obsessed him for centuries. And soon, with one last long, heavy cry, it came to pieces, its’ silhouette shattering right before his eyes, falling into pieces from the vast night sky.
That whole world plunged into darkness, robbed from the Moon’s graceful light. With wide pupils, Gael still watched the heights, frozen in place, unable to process what had just happened. That shocked state lasted for a good couple of moments, before the spirit would come back to his senses, a mixture of calm and fear taking over his chest, putting his body in motion as, once again, he began running, passing from one street to another in search for the demon. “Kayl! Kayl! Where are you? Kayl!”
Atypical. The effortless way he had for playing inside the minds of others, creating, destroying, inducing and distorting no longer existed; but in place of this effortless sensation, the demon showed himself a power that even he himself didn't know he had, the ability to, at least, touch something as ingrained, as deep as the moonsprite's sentiment for the moon. It was wrong to say that Kayl understood, there were many things they both avoided talking about their own lives, matters of their past, of all the baggage and pain they carried. In the end, due to this episode, he was able to hear, feel and see some of his partner's deepest fears, using this information to put the pieces together and even create his own theory about it, still in need to listen the story when Gael felt ready to share. It could be crude, ridiculous, that blinding mass wasn't the real moon; he could never destroy a natural satellite in real life. Who said, though? A big grin grew on his lips as he watched the cracks take on enormous proportions, giant chunks of the said moon flying in opposite directions, screaming and crying as if she was losing her most beloved child, as if begging the demon to stop; but he didn't. Until it finally consumed itself from within, reduced to dust. He was strong. He also could save. “Damn.”, his voice came in a hoarse whisper, knees giving way and hitting hard the cobblestone, tired, exhausted from the mental effort he had made, draining all the energy present in his vessel. “It's all for you...” The grin grew even wider and he honestly felt the urge to close his eyes and finally rest for a few seconds, minutes, yet a voice he knew too well sounded in the distance, screaming his name.
As if being the fuel he needed, Kayl got to his feet quickly, the pain throbbing in every part of his body disappeared like magic and, once again, he shifted their settings inside Gael's mind. This time the background showed they were in Vighulir, in front of the demon's house; all the pitch dark streets became bright enough for them to see, space allowed no more labyrinths of dirty alleys to separate them from one another. Running towards the spirit, their bodies colliding causing a loud tud, arms wrapped around his body tighter than needed. “Here you are... It's okay. You're free now, you see? You're free now, baby. You're free to come back with me, to our place.” Kayl used the words that at the same time meant a lot to both of them but could also elude the chance they had to get out of this nightmare that, at last, seemed to be over so far. Quickly shifting in place, both of his tattooed hands went to the moonsprite's face like a magnet, brown eyes getting lost prettily inside the ashy purple ones. “I need to go first, alright? Watch me stepping past the door, and when it happens, you come as well. I'll be waiting at the other side and we can, finally, go home. Promise to me, Gael. You'll do what I'm saying, 'kay?”, he asked, genuinely terrified of the answer being something else while carefully wiping off the dust from Gael's wet cheeks.

senth-ia:
skindeep; kayl&senth
All trace of mockery vanished into thin air as soon as that dreaded alias was thrown on the table, the arrogant, self-important expression that had been plastered on his features morphing into pure shock. Alas, the preliator was reduced to silence, not a single witty comment forming in his mind at that point, as with that nickname, all sorts of memories flooded his thoughts. With his release, with coming to Insolitus, Senth was persuaded he could put that part of his life to rest, push it somewhere deep in the pits of his mind and never visit it again. Yet, as usual, all demon that stepped inside his circle had to bring some sort of pain along with them, and as Athanasia was the incarnation of all grief, now Kayl proved himself to claim a share of his past. A past that, as menaced, could easily insinuate itself into the present day and lead him to his very end.
“You playin’ dirty, huh?” The preliator asked rhetorically as he tucked his tongue into his cheek for a brief moment, only to let a click sound resonate from inside his mouth. It was enough for the preliator to understand that, in spite of the appearances that he couldn’t bring himself to respect much, the other was, indeed, troublesome. And if this earthly life taught him something, it was precisely to not mess with those that could, as Kayl put it, hand his head over to those who sought it. “A decent ‘link’ it is, then. After all, we ain’t got no reason to bother one another.” The shift in demeanour was more than obvious, although his words were tainted with a sort of bitterness and despise, as the male found himself in the greatly uncomfortable position of having his wellbeing dependent on another. As the sound of the machine echoed into the room, Senth nodded, offering the same innocent smile that was presented to him, even though both men knew it was nothing but lie. A lie that was designed to silently seal a distressing deal. “Whenever you ready.”
Those who had the concession of stepping into the demon's life and staying long enough to get to know him truly beyond the façade knew he wasn't a bad guy despite his race. Kayl was someone looking for a tranquil life, conflicts being absolutely draining to him when year after year, century after century they kept happening. Yet, as said, his patience was finite and Senth managed to outrun it, stomp on it and spit on it as well. Even having his contacts and knowing of some people who were after the preliator, Kayl would never do anything to provide his location to them, obviously if the other creature also behaved decently without threatening him or willing to harm someone he cared about. If those were far from Senth's thoughts, they would get along well in the end, even if that feeling of insecurity and doubt would linger with every interaction they would share from now on.
“Good. Exactly as I thought. There's no reason for you to cross my path and attack me, and I have no reason to hand you over, alive, to those guys.” Lowering himself, Kayl used his index finger to pull the preliator's lower lip down, the needle not taking long to start piercing the sensitive layer of skin at the spot adding inward the black ink, starting with the letter M. “You give me the stuff, I pay you, I can even get more tattoos done on you if you wanna. I think this is a decent connection that doesn't have to be hostile because, honestly, Senth...” Kayl couldn't control the voice that came out dripping with mockery, and the needle lifted for a few moments for him to add a somewhat dramatic sigh to the small theater he'd set up there at that moment. “I just want peace, staying far away from trouble is pleasurable for me, and I can assume it is the same for you, too.” Offering a smile that made his ironic tone explicit even when speaking the truth, Kayl went back to work, and the characteristic sound of the machine returned, helping to fill the silence over the room while Senth himself couldn't talk due to the procedure.

As the demon took charge of his inner universe, Gael could feel himself growing numb, light-headed, pulled forcefully into a drunken-like daze as one by one, all cords were slipping away from his hands. And in reality, had the other not held his body with such strength, the spirit’s body might have surely collapsed on the ground, seemingly lifeless. Not that, in the state in which he had found himself until that precise moment, Gael gave many signs of presence. Before he could even grasp anything to support himself from losing balance, the younger found himself projected into a foreign world, one that was completely Kayl’s work, one so foreign, frighteningly so, one into which he felt trapped, lost, without a single landmark to guide his understanding. And as only the Moon stood tall and bright on the night sky, Gael’s convictions only grew stronger, persuaded that nothing, not any alteration of his circumstances could budge her, or change his fate.
Suddenly, familiar faces approached him, features he could not discern amongst those already encountered, but ones that Gael could swear he had seen before, for they were concretizations of his fears embodied, wearing those dreaded brown tunics that he had worn himself before, in times long gone. As offences were being shouted at him, the moonsprite fell onto the ground, crawling backwards in a weak attempt to escape their wrath, tears not ceasing from running down his cheeks for a single instant. A loud gasp found its’ way out through his tightened airways as the protective shield surrounded his silhouette. Yet he could still hear those clear threats verbally directed at his wellbeing, at his very life, promising him an agonizing departure. Reluctantly, the spirit got up, his eyes focused on the demon whose attention seemed to be completely dedicated to the grandiose Moon, and before he knew it, the shield suddenly disappeared, leaving him exposed at the mercy of those men. Without wasting a single moment, Gael ran, losing himself deep into the forest with the chimeras following right behind, their shouts mixing together with his own sobs and cries for help.
Then, once again, the environment changed in the blink of an eye. The trees were no more, nor the grass, or the flowers. Instead, his steps echoed as they hit against the cobblestone in that sprint, and to his despair, instead of an open, vast space, Gael was met by a tall brick wall. A scene he had lived before, one that could have one and only one outcome. Rapidly turning around, he pressed his back against the wall, terror petrifying his muscles as he watched those silhouettes coming closer and closer. And when the men’s steps rushed his way, their bodies morphed, gaining a small form, however no less frightening and disgusting to the moonsprite. Instead of knuckles, little paws clung onto his pants, climbing up his legs that would swing in all directions possible as to push them away, but to no avail. And more similar grey-furred creatures were flooding the little street, leaving Gael almost suffocated in that terror, only capable to let out a loud, sharp cry, one that strongly echoed all around that space.
Everything happening was the opposite of what would be the unchangeable course of life; his powers weren't made to save someone, they were made to destroy, inflict pain, to impose himself. Perhaps it explained why the shield he created to protect Gael didn't last more than a few moments; Kayl was not made to protect. The thought sent a shiver down his spine, focus away from being on the moon because yet his main concern there was to keep the moonsprite safe from his own fears and the traps that Kayl, involuntarily, created around them. When looking to the side and seeing a body running into the forest while being chased by those illusions, the demon clicked his tongue, quickly changing the setting once again; this time he thought a city background would be the most favorable, maybe the moon could absorb some power from nature to keep herself up, shining and appearing to have no flaws. Thus, the satellite would not be able to absorb anything from concrete and stone, the demon could only hope this would, in fact, change something, that it'd make his situation more optimistic. It hurt in the depths of his being, it broke inside his core when he heard the screams and pleas, the sobs that frightened the spirit's body and soul. Kayl wanted to do something, but if he focused his attention on saving him over and over, they would be trapped in this nightmare for a long time, too dangerous for Gael's life.
Exposing himself facing the moon, the demon studied what he could do to destroy it even when its mass was large, thick, glued to every wall of his unconscious and that's simply why she wouldn't disappear so easily. Kayl tossed back the black strands of hair, muscles tensed as he slowly fought his instincts in every possible way; the instinct to save Gael and the very instinct to play with his memories. The blood coming out of his nose and ears had stopped already, now only the dry trace stained the skin and he didn't even care about such irrelevance. Eyes going full white once again, Kayl started playing with the moon, trying to turn it into a sun, on a planet, a meteor, anything that was close enough to it to induce the shift into something else, but it barely moved, taking over most of the sky, as if the demon's attempts didn't even tickle it. Time was being wasted, he was growing frustrated as well, hands closing in a fist, eyebrows frowning deeply as he poured literally all the strength inside his being on that damn moon. “Fuck, come on!”, he uttered between gritted teeth, a grin changing his angry expression from seconds ago as he realized he was managing to hit the moon from the inside out; the crack was slow, painfully slow but loud enough to be heard even from afar. It wouldn't be as fast as he wished, but at least he would be able to save his partner if he gave every little thing of himself into the task.

A soft sigh escaped from his chest, his eyes fluttering shut momentarily as he indulged in the tranquility that the demon’s touch brought him. A warmth like no other, emanated by Kayl only, passing through all his body’s layers until settling eventually inside his chest, enveloping his heart with a sensation so intense, yet so peaceful. His head motioned slowly from side to side, a hint that Kayl had no reason to apologize, not for such a thing. The spirit couldn’t deny, he had longed to hear those words voiced specifically by Kayl, though he was aware that, as he had his fears, so did the demon. Like any other breathing creature. “It’s alright.” Gael commented, his tone gentle, mirroring the lightness that took over his being, like a feather peacefully resting on the ground so he laid on top of the demon, enjoying the heat that passed through the other’s clothes, the rhythm in which his chest heaved with each breath. “I didn’t say it either, although I felt it. I guess we’re not that different, are we?”
A hum softly resonated inside his throat as the spirit leaned forwards, lids closed once again as he received those kisses, his lips curling into a gentle smile. Blindly, behind the darkness imposed by his closed eyes, Gael searched for the demon’s lips, the tip of his nose brushing against the man’s face in that quest. Once eventually finding them, the moonsprite captured the plump pair in a kiss, light and gentle at first, one that grew more and more intense as the younger let his legs slide on each side of Kayl’s body, seizing the demon underneath him. A wave of heat ran through his body, pushing the spirit even closer to the other, urging him to deepen the kiss as his mouth opened, giving way for his teeth to lightly sink into the man’s lower lip as he gently nibbled the soft flesh, silently begging the demon to do as him, to let him inside, longing for his taste.
The words didn't come out of his mouth, didn't reach the spirit's ears, but Kayl couldn't stop the fact that they were so different. As he looked at Gael with that same stupid smile, he could never come close to or then be compared to a creature as ethereal, as perfect as Gael was. Keeping his eyes open the whole time, not the least bit tired of allowing his orbs to have the privilege of being the ones that could admire him this up close, the demon watched the entire little quest, helping out a bit as he moved his head almost imperceptibly to the side, finally feeling the comfortable warmth added to his pair.
Cupping his face with both hands, Kayl enjoyed their little moment, his lips following the moonsprite's in slow movements, a smile escaping the kiss when he felt the younger's body shuffling on top of him and the same hands that lightly caressed both sides of his cheeks now slid slowly over his shoulders, brushing along the entire length of his back. Before going down, his eyes snapped open again, pulling his head backward just a few inches after being bitten by the moonsprite. His smirk already made it clear about his own intentions, but he didn't want to miss hearing from Gael, to hear through his melodious voice about it. “What are you up to, mn?” They both knew that between them there's no need for questions, there's no need for walking on thin ice— it was like that, all said between exchanged looks, all felt at the slightest touch, knowing each other as if they were one body, one soul. His hands went down beyond the lower back, gripping the flesh there through his pants, pressing the slender frame on him further as Kayl's lips smooched once again the soft pair, instantly offering the deep kiss he knew Gael was seeking for. It wasn't difficult to notice the heat growing between them taking on a greater proportion, more than the soft warmth from before; now flames replacing it shamelessly.

𝚋𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚖𝚎 𝚒𝚗 // 𝚐𝚊𝚎𝚕&𝚔𝚊𝚢𝚕
He could feel his heart flutter inside his chest, skipping one of those already rapid beats that made blood rush beneath his cheeks, colouring the pale skin in a deeper and deeper shade of pink. Like a feather, the moon spirit let himself be turned around, his body completely and entirely under the other’s control, without a single sign of resistance. He could do it, he could confide in Kayl, in good times as in the worse alike, convinced that not a single harm could be inflicted upon him. Not by the demon himself, nor by anyone else. With careful, slow moves, Gael made himself comfortable on top of the older, his palms pressed against his chest as they served as support for his chin to rest, ashy purple hues not leaving the demon’s eyes for a single instant. He was drawn to Kayl, like a magnet, utterly mesmerized by the warmth and the affection that he could decipher in those brown orbs. As he listened, the spirit let his head rest on the man’s chest, a gentle smile creeping upon his lips at the sound of the demon’s heartbeat that accompanied his words. For once, Gael felt safe, sheltered, enveloped in a warmth hardly ever experienced before.
Eyelids moved lazily as their gazes met once again at Kayl’s wish, those purple hues expressing more than words ever could. All the affection, all the joy that filled his chest. “I understand what you mean.” He responded softly, pushing his body higher so he could reach the demon’s lips for a small peck. “And it makes me happy, you can’t imagine. I wouldn’t want to have anyone else by my side. No one but you.” The moonsprite declared in a whisper as he pulled away, the joyful beam only growing wider as a kiss was placed upon his closed eyes. And soon his lids parted, pupils big, eyebrows arched, his mouth hanging open. The confession came as a surprise, the words voiced causing a storm inside his core. It was almost unbelievable, like a dream from which the spirit didn’t want to ever wake up. It was even better, yet. Because it was real, it was his new reality, a world in which he received love from another. A love that he reciprocated intensely, passionately. His eyes became wet, a small knot forming inside his throat. “I love you too.” Gael whispered, “From the very bottom of my heart. With every inch of me.”
Even though it wasn't a surprise, Kayl couldn't help but feel relieved to discover the moonsprite had understood his words. They were shallow, not very sure about their origin, but knowing Gael also had the feeling of, perhaps, this not being the first time their souls had touched in this way was comforting to the man who had decided to close himself off to any love language other than carnal pleasures. An indescribable and tad foreign amount of happiness ran through his very veins, pulling up a stupid smile to rest on his mouth, completely in love with his little angel there, resting and bathing in his warmth that he gladly offered to him— saying the most beautiful words he longed to hear, to know that nothing they exchanged was meaningless, quite the opposite. Even though it's not a description he would speak aloud, he couldn't help but imagine as if he's going to explode at any moment, even wondering if it was really possible to be as hopelessly in love with someone as he was with Gael.
A short chuckle came from within the male, chest moving as he knew why Gael didn't seem to believe his words; three simple words that when put together made this experienced man tremble, words that turned out to be painful to utter after the losses he had encountered through the years, however, he understood he couldn't simply deprive the moonsprite of hearing them. “Sorry I didn't tell you sooner.”, he confessed with an apology, fingers lazily stroking the blonde hair. “I made you wait even when I was already choking on those words, desperate to let you know how much you mean to me.” His voice tone matched the atmosphere, calm and deep, and his arm tried to physically show what was happening inside his core, squeezing Gael against his body, clinging to him almost desperately, not allowing his mouth to stay away from each other for another second. Pressing his lips onto Gael's pair, the demon showered it with pecks that soon roamed across his face, making a point of touching his lips to every little part that made up that complexion, sculpted by a true artist he would greet if possible. No matter who it was, Kayl would always be grateful for whoever made the spirit.

As Kayl took hold of him, his heart sunk in the most profound depths of his being, a burning sensation creeping upon his skin right underneath the demon’s pads. It felt painfully real, a touch that in this new reality he had spent centuries longing for, without it ever coming back to him. Without engulfing him in its’ warmth. The first words uttered by the demon passed past Gael without catching his attention, lost in the sound of the winds that carried them away, far away from the spirit. On his features, agony, sorrow, despair, all came together, tainting the pale complexion with tears. A few pained whimpers escaped his chest along with the sobs once his body was aggressively shaken, a pair of claws seizing his heart and squeezing it mercilessly. The words that followed fell on deaf ears, the moonsprite having no capacity whatsoever to grasp them, to understand them, to take them in and accept the offer to leave that place. He couldn’t leave, not anymore, for his end was there, dictated by a fate so unfair that only put him through suffering, and still in those last moments, decided to toy with his peace and bring the demon back to him. This was how Gael saw things under the influence of The Pit.
As the torment grew in intensity inside his chest, so did their environment become more and more hostile with each whimper. The winds took unbearable proportions, so cold and rapid that in their passing they could tear apart everything in their way, yet not them. The waters were boiling with fury under the crimson sky, gaining a blood-like shade themselves. Only the Moon stood, as always, unchanged, reigning over that disaster with indestructible calm. Serene, grandiose, with her intense light, as a sage ruler beholding the collapse of a world that did not touch them, tranquil and content with the conviction that they knew it would all happen. That all was written and sealed, upon their wish, and not a thing could change that course as they were waiting for the deed to be done, for their share of the offerings.
“Please…” Gael uttered through gritted teeth, his voice trembling. “She is waiting for me…”
Kayl watched his attempt go down the drain, resulting in a messy moonsprite who couldn't hear the commands and pleas for this literal nightmare to end. It had been the last chance, the last shot he could think of, something that wasn't dangerous for his partner, yet when the space they were in started to become more hostile than he could bear, the eldest understood other measures should be taken, even if it wasn't the desired outcome. It would be the best option before being too late and only watch Gael succumb inside his own mind before his eyes. His head moved around, trying to guess who she was, who was waiting for the spirit in that situation, who should he meet. Not finding the answer, the demon freed Gael from his grip, eyes falling shut for a few instants while his power was being summoned.
The gradual change was obvious; their entire surroundings turned white for a few split seconds as several different sets and backgrounds swirled around them as the demon chose the best option. As soon as the flashes halted, darkness took over his eyes, which didn't take long since the moon stood there once again, untouchable, giant, like a lantern preventing them from encountering pitch black in the middle of a dense forest. The difference was apparent, what was coming from Kayl's manipulation presented itself distorted, almost psychedelic with a game of colors doubling in a slow, nauseating dance— completely different from the moon that seemed more real than ever, as if it had eyes and stared into them coldly. The demon glanced around, swallowing hard as a group of men approached Gael, teeth clenching in anger as he realized they were in the same psychedelic fashion, making it clear this was something he was causing in the moonsprite's mind. It wasn't hard to understand, to grasp that whoever was in charge, who was the strongest force there ripping off every piece of the youngest was the moon, being the only one Kayl couldn't change, couldn't play with. He felt guilty for the illusions, and the best he could do was stop those men from getting anywhere near Gael, resulting in them gathering in a small circle while shouting insults in French that made his blood boil. As if there was a field protecting the moonsprite, Kayl did his best to take his eyes off him, to turn to face the moon, hues squinting slightly at the strong light it radiated. A deep sigh left his chest as his senses tried to replace the very part that seemed to be sticky on the moonsprite's mind, the moon.

As his name was once again called, the moonsprite’s eyes were flooded with tears that fell down his cheeks as violent sobs made his shoulders move up and down, the pain he felt inside his chest so intense, so vicious that it could completely shred his heart apart. In that instant, the blue night sky turned crimson red, the once calm waters now boiling with furious waves as a strong wind blew from towards them right against the two silhouettes. Only the Moon remained unchanged, grandiose, gleaming with its’ blinding white light that kept the darkness from completely engulfing the pair. Everything, all the images, all the sounds, all the changes reflected the most acute of Gael’s fears and sorrows, exposed now freely for the demon to witness.
He listened, the man’s words echoing in that vast space as if they were coming from a place afar. What Kayl did not know was that The Pit took advantage of all the anguish it could find within the spirit’s bones, augmenting their proportions to the fullest extent and, in a matter of seconds, transporting Gael through his entire life, from the very beginning, to the bitter end that he so ferociously tried to avoid. And now, it was all done. The last strings of sand were dripping through the hourglass, his presence only bringing even more sorrow and despair to the moonsprite who, in those moments, thought himself to be giving his last breaths. The thought of Kayl returning to him in those moments precisely had the same effect as a dagger put right through his heart, it stung, it hurt, it consumed his flesh from inside out like a blazing fire.
“I—I don’t want to die!” The moon spirit shouted, the earth once again trembling beneath their feet as the storm who took over the seas raged in that very instant, the sky itself moaning like a pained beast.
Outside his mind, Kayl was still partially aware of what was going on, but not of the surroundings. He couldn't see the moonsprite in front of his orbs as the whitish pupils indicated the usage of power but he could feel a weak warmth and wetness emanating from Gael's face where his hands were holding tightly the whole time. The touch wasn't felt in the foreground, but enough to allow the demon to still have a connection to reality to get out of there. The complex thing was to get out of there with Gael without hurting him in the process.
It wasn't easy— Kayl tried to walk more than once, yet the wind was controlling his body, restricting him from moving forward, even if the touch somehow felt light against his frame. What got even tougher was the decision he had just made, something he never really thought was necessary, but in this circumstance, the best option seemed to be the unexpected. His eyes fell shut, there, inside the youngest's distressing unconscious, and when opened this common dark tone was gone, giving way to the same white shade he had outside. The demon swallowed the feelings down his throat, swallowed the pain that went through his body at the sight of his partner suffering, and with difficulty, he walked forward. It was a few steps that seemed to be eternal due the wind, yet he was able to get to the moonsprite, mimicking the same position they were in— tattooed fingers holding the face tightly, trying to get inside that mind, even though he was already inside it right now, but this time it wasn't in a literal way. Kayl wished to convince him this wasn't real. “I'm here.”, he said, his tone lower than he'd wanted, realizing the spirit hadn't really heard him due to the irritating noises the space they were in produced around them. “I'm here!”, trying again, he swung Gael's body aggressively, unaware of his own appearance that now in addition to possessing his horns, fangs and also the sharp nails that pierced through Gael's pristine skin under his hold, blood was still pouring out from his nose and now from his ears as well. “Gael, please... Get the fuck out there, Gael!”, he yelled. “Angel, I can't do this to you, listen to me... You won’t die if you trust me. It’s not real, we’re real, this place isn’t.”
He needed to try this very way, a last-ditch effort to bring the moonsprite back without needing to use the full extent of his power. The latter could cause severe mental damage to those who received Kayl's visit inside their minds. It was like being caught between a rock and a hard place; the desire to help him and also not to hurt him teetering on a scale as he pondered, as best as he could, what would be best for Gael.

𝚝𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚑𝚘𝚖𝚎 // 𝚔𝚊𝚎𝚕
What could the demon find inside that little universe that composed Gael’s inner life? A myriad of images, all now of the most frightening of kinds, recalling of anxiety, sorrow, grief, despair. The moonsprite’s fears, the very things he dreaded were at once, ruthlessly, playing inside his mind. Screams, shouts, offences that have been thrown his way in the past were resonating inside that chamber with vicious cruelty, accompanied by his own cries. Such was the atmosphere that greeted Kayl the first moments he penetrated that world. And perhaps to his relief, in the very least the demon was spared of the sight of those moments from which the sounds originated. And then, sudden silence, almost as if a vacuum absorbed everything at once. Feeble, a wave tried to break through, a sort of vibration, radio-like, calm, upon which the short noise of a bell could be heard here and there. Muffled at first, with each second passing, that calming sound grew in intensity, echoing inside that darkness—it was the sound of his home, waves of vibrations that Gael had learnt at the time when he was a star himself.
A dazing play of multicolored lights put an end to that darkness, flickering at stunning speeds before they would come together, that specter cancelling itself into a blinding white only to then transport the demon to that shore. That very shore where Gael stood, stepping slowly towards the vast, calm waters upon which the Moon’s light reflected. If the demon only knew that satellite from the earthly perspective, then he would probably be surprised by the enormous proportions it took in the sprite’s mind as it appeared to be ascending from beneath those waters, while occupying a big portion of the night sky. And as the spirit took his first step into the cold sea, he heard his name, his earthly name being called out by a voice he knew so well, one that, in those moments, in that new reality of his, he never thought he would hear again. Gael turned around in that very instant, tears forming in his eyes as his chest tightened. It couldn’t be. Kayl couldn’t possibly come back to him then. So, so late. After so much time passed. In those very moments when the moonsprite’s existence was coming to its’ end. Overwhelmed by the pain, he let out a loud, desperate cry, one that resonated inside his mind with such force that the entire shore trembled, as if hit by earthquake, probably deafening to the demon’s ears.
Easy to say this situation could be considered his first time using this power for entirely different purposes than the one given to him at birth. Used to do this to play with others, create emotions, distortions, illusions, everything with the intention of destroying the receiver's psychic and even their physical body as well, for the delight of his own entertainment. Even though being the first time, the demon had also used it in another circumstance and there he put an end to an innocent life he had treasured many centuries ago. Why? For the purpose of erasing one memory, just one. Now, with Gael, it was totally different. Kayl didn't want to destroy his psyche or erase any memories, but he did want to rescue the moonsprite from inside his own head. It would be a lie to say he wasn't scared to death, muscles tense and sore when he found himself living what the creature had been going through in the past. His chest tightened at the sound of those voices, but nothing hurt more than the spirit's screams, creating an intense urge within his core in order to protect him, but Kayl didn't have the power to go back in time to do so, to protect him with his own life and cease this seemingly endless suffering.
He didn't have the gift of empathy when inside other's mind, but everything that happened around him now seemed to pierce his chest like sharp arrows, leaving him bleeding internally from the feeling of helplessness. The sound, the lights, flashes and disconnects that didn't make sense to him only served as fuel for finding Gael. And there he was. In the demon's view, the scenery contained nothing more than the moon, the sea, the sand, and most importantly, the moonsprite. Without thinking twice, his feet moved towards him, although he was still standing in the same place just like Gael and the only thing moving the two was the strength of their own mind; the demon knew it.
He was lucky, though— his movements weren't restricted and he stepped over to the youngest, yet his cry forced Kayl to stop in his tracks as the whole shore trembled beneath his feet; a trickle of blood running down his nose, the taste bitter and familiar all over his lips instantly. “Gael.”, he called, body didn't move a single inch anymore, but he felt like he was getting closer to the moonsprite nonetheless. “You don't need to live here, it's not your world. Come with me.” His voice was firm but affectionate as well, trying to guarantee the safety of his partner. “You want to get out from here, don't you? I can do it. Trust and come to me.”

The moonsprite kept his eyes closed, a peaceful expression playing on his features as the corners of his mouth turned upwards in a gentle, joyous smile. ’Exactly, mine.’ Two words, it was all that took to put at rest all worry that made his heart tremble with fear and uncertainty, his chest falling with an inaudible sigh. At last, Gael could find within his soul the strength to believe such an assertion, the courage to let another’s fingers penetrate right through his flesh and capture his heart into their hands. As the order came, his lids parted, giving way for their gazes to meet, a small sparkle playing into the ashy purple hues. He listened, drinking up each and every word that left Kayl’s tongue as his whole being filled with unspeakable, genuine happiness. “Mhm.” Gael hummed softly, his head motioning in a slow nod as his hands travelled across the male’s shoulders, making their way to the sides of his neck.
He shuffled in place with small movements, allowing his body to find a comfortable position underneath Kayl’s own. His front teeth grazed softly against his bottom lip, mouth curled still into that delighted smile. “You know,” he began, his voice coming out in a soft whisper as his gaze attempted to shift elsewhere, yet there was no place for it to rest upon, but the demon’s own brown hues. A light shade of pink coloured the apples of his cheeks in slight embarrassment that preceded the words he was about to express. “From that day when we first met, I was so captivated by you. The way you carried yourself, the mystery that surrounded you, your intellect. I was fascinated, and scared at the same time. Because I felt so drawn to you, and it frightened me. Though… I couldn’t help but wonder, over and over, even that following day… the fact that you were there, at the abbey… Have you maybe been in other places as well? Throughout the years, have we crossed paths more than once, without knowing? I kept asking myself that.” The moonsprite spoke in a sweet whisper, a light tingle playing beneath his skin.
If he had a way to find out what the moonsprite was thinking, Kayl would surely use it right now— curious to know if he really believed in his words, in his promise. Even though it hadn't been formulated as one, inside his mind he knew he'd be able to travel through heaven, hell, earth, even other universes, other dimensions if that was needed to fulfill Gael's wishes. Giving him the space needed, he kept his eyes on the spirit, not only because he just couldn't stop looking at him or admiring him, but also because he wanted to know, he's genuinely interested in anything the younger wanted to say. And what came out of the small lips was somewhat unexpected but pleasant to hear nonetheless, allowing a smile to appear on the demon's lips as he noticed the small blush on the boy's face.
“I felt the same.”, he said, and before continuing, Kayl reversed his positions, now having his back completely against the couch seats and Gael on top of his chest. With his left arm, he wrapped his arms around the waist, squeezing lightly against him as a free hand slid up until feeling the softness of blonde hair against his palm, lightly stroking Gael's scalp. “I have a theory, and the only one that makes sense to me.” Eyes on the ceiling as he thought of the best way to proceed, Kayl's tongue glided over along his lips. “Even though that day was the only one we're sure we were in the same place, I know it wasn't. I'm certain we know each other from somewhere else, way beyond Kayl demon, beyond Gael moonsprite, you see what I mean?” Before proceeding, the demon reached for the moonsprite's chin, lifting it up until he could see himself mirrored on the pretty hues, a small smile taking shape on the corners of his lips at the sight. “Perhaps we are here, together, because we couldn't make it at another moment. Or else, we are brand new souls and we still have many lives ahead of us besides this one.” It all might sound cheesy somehow, but Kayl decided to expose what he really felt about this relationship with Gael that happened in the most unexpected way he could have imagined. Kissing his lid affectionately, he added in a whisper. “And that's why I love you so much, it couldn't fit in one life only.”
