PART 15 | he’s usually not that much of a loser (written)

The neon lights of the arcade flickered in the distance as Sungho and a newly blonde Jungwon walked toward it from opposite directions. Their plan, hatched the day before, was simple: get Taesan and Y/n to spend time together in a casual setting.

As they approached the entrance, Jungwon noticed Sungho walking briskly ahead of his group. He quickened his pace, catching up to him.

“Hey, Sungho hyung! Fancy seeing you here!” Jungwon called out, waving enthusiastically.

Sungho’s eyes widened in mock surprise. “Wow Jungwon, what a coincidence! We were just about to come here ourselves!”

Behind them, Taesan and Y/n’s groups caught up, exchanging curious glances as they saw the two friends acting overly casual. Taesan meets Y/n eyes and quickly looks away, turning his attention to Jungwon’s bright hair.

Sungho tried to hide his grin. “You know what? Since we’re all here, why don’t we hang out together?”

“Wow, that’s such a good idea! Let’s do it!” Jungwon nods along. Behind him, Sunoo, Riwoo, and Ningning exchange stares with their eyebrows raised. The group enters the arcade, Taesan and Y/n trailing behind their group awkwardly. Before anyone could utter a word, Sungho and Jungwon split the group up and dispersed them to different games.

“Ningning noona and Sunoo hyung, you guys go together!”

“Riwoo and Jaehyun go with them too!” Shoving the four together, Sungho and Jungwon push them into the direction of the skii ball games. 

“Niki and Woonhak you guys go to the dance machines! Have fun.”

“Alright, Leeh-where’d Leehan go?” Looking around, the boy was nowhere to be seen. Sungho and Jungwon turn back to the two left over. Taesan and Y/n stood side by side, equally as awkward and stiff. 

“Oh, Jungwon there’s this claw machine that I need help with!” Sungho exclaims, turning to Jungwon and pointing in a random direction.

“Oh, of course I’ll help you, hyung!” Jungwon exclaims back. 

“You guys have fun!” Jungwon turns to Taesan and Y/n. “Oh look, there’s the basketball games! Go!” 

 Taesan and Y/n just so happen to end up at the basketball game machine after being pushed by Sungho and Jungwon.

The arcade was filled with the sounds of beeping machines and the occasional cheer. Taesan and Y/n stood in front of the basketball game, both awkward and unsure.

“S-so,” Taesan started, trying to break the ice. “I’ve gotten 200 points on this game before. I’m pretty good.”

Y/n raised an eyebrow, trying to hide her curiosity and surprise. “Oh really?”

Taesan stepped up to the game, putting in his tokens with a determined look. As the game started, he shot a few hoops with a mix of enthusiasm and nerves. The points quickly climbed, but not as fast as he had hoped.

As the final buzzer sounded, the score appeared on the screen: 39 points.

Taesan stared at the score, his face flushing red with embarrassment. He tried to laugh it off, rubbing the back of his neck. “Well, that was… not quite 200 points.”

Y/n couldn’t help but smile, her heart warming at his flustered reaction. “Hey, it’s okay. 39 points isn’t too bad. At least you’re having fun.”

Taesan glanced at her, relieved by her kind words and her genuine smile. “T-thanks. I guess I’m more of a spectator than a player.”

They continued to play, the tension easing as they shared laughs and friendly competition. Y/n found herself increasingly charmed by Taesan’s awkward attempts to show off and his genuine personality.

“Okay, he’s usually not that much of a loser.” Riwoo says. The four hid behind a racing game, observing the two.

“I love this new side of Taesan.” Jaehyun comments, pointing his phone in their direction and smiling at the two in the distance.

“So this was Sungho and Jungwon’s plan?” Sunoo asks, more to himself.

“Y/n looks so cute!” Ningning exclaims, gushing over the younger girl. Across from them, hiding behind a different racing game, Sungho and Jungwon observe the two together. Jungwon had his phone out, snapping a few pictures here and there. Turning, they make eye contact with the other four across.

Taesan and Y/n exchanged shy glances, their earlier awkwardness replaced by a budding connection. It wasn’t quite the grand romantic gesture, but it was a start. After playing for a while, it was time to leave.

As the group left the arcade, Jungwon and Sungho, walking behind from a distance of Y/n and Taesan, high-fived each other. Their plan had worked better than expected, even if it had been a bit of a mess.

“See? I told you it would work out,” Sungho said with a grin.

“Yeah, yeah,” Jungwon replied, chuckling. “Let’s just hope they don’t notice how bad we were at pretending to run into each other.”

They laughed and walked slower behind, leaving Taesan and Y/n to enjoy their new, slightly awkward but endearing friendship and maybe romance.

“By the way, your acting was horrible.” Ningning says, walking ahead of them.

“Yeah, it was really bad.” Sunoo says, passing them and joining Ningning.

“I’ve seen better.” Riwoo adds.

“Good job!” Jaehyun exclaims, throwing a thumbs up at them. Sungho and Jungwon drop their heads in defeat. They didn’t know acting would be so hard.

“Wait, did we forget something?” Sungho asks, looking at the group. Stopping, they turn around to face him.

“Where’s Niki?”

“Oh my god, we forgot Woonhak!”

“WHERE’S LEEHAN?!”

"i knew i should've stopped you from playing in the rain with leo..." he sighed as soon he entered your room.

it took you a while to register who was at your door and you soon realised that it was your best friend, tsukasa.

"i told you that i'm fine!" you croaked, as you sat up from your bed.

tsukasa eyed you suspiciously.

"with a voice like that? i think not." he said, making his way to you. he gently placed a hand on your forehead and immediately withdrew his hand. "you're burning up! you're obviously not 'fine'! give me a moment, i'll go get your medicine." he exclaimed, turning around to leave. before he could even take a step, you grabbed his wrist.

"stay..."

"but your medi-"

"i already took them..."

you haven't taken your medicine. but all you needed right now was for him to be by your side.

"then sleep. i'll be right here."

it was as if he had read your mind.

silence filled the room as you lay back down and closed your eyes while tsukasa, who was seated on the floor next to your bed, watched you toss and turn until finally finding a comfortable position to sleep in. he was glad that your cold wasn't that serious. he couldn't bear to see a loved one suffering.

time flew by quickly, and before he knew it, it was getting dark outside. seeing that your back was facing him, he decided to call out to you.

"y/n?"

no response.

tsukasa took a deep breath.

this was his chance and he wasn't going to waste it.

"i like you, y/n. i've liked you for a while now. i know you can't hear me right now but that's okay, i'll confess to you again soon." with that, he got up and made his way to the door.

"get well soon, my princess." he whispered as he exited your room, closing the door with a 'click'.

little did he know that you were wide awake the entire time, and now you were a blushing mess.

you saw a boy standing in front of you.

"you have no idea how much i love you! i've attended all your concerts and brought all your merch! oh my gosh...i can't believe you're standing right in front of me!" he rambled.

he began asking you questions, some of which were personal, which made you slightly uncomfortable. not wanting to ruin your idol image, all you could do was smile.

"right...i've been wanting to ask you this..." he mumbled, leaning into you, causing you to take a step back.

"are you dating that sazanami jun from eden?"

your smile dropped.

what?

"i've seen the two of you walking around in the city together."

"you've been following us around?"

"something like that." he confessed. "look, wouldn't it be better to date someone who truly loves you and can dedicate all his time to you?"

you were starting to feel very uncomfortable and wanted to get out of the situation as soon as possible.

"y/n?"

a familiar voice called out.

both you and the boy turned your attention to the owner of the voice and saw jun walking towards the two of you, with his phone just a few centimetres from his ear.

"i'm sorry for making you wait, y/n. i tried calling you but you wouldn't pick up." jun asked you, with a gentle smile. he sent a chilling glare towards the boy which caused him to take a step back away from you.

before the boy could say anything else, jun grabbed your wrist and pulled you towards him.

"let's go, my love," he said lovingly, before guiding you through the crowded station, away from the boy.

after walking for a while, he turned to look over his shoulder.

"did he do anything to you?" he asked, worry clear in his voice.

you shook your head and gave him a small smile. "he just asked me about our relationship."

"i think it's time to reveal our relationship to the public then."

"what? why?"

"so that everyone will know that you're mine and i'm yours." said jun, shooting you a grin.

maybe it wasn't that much of a bad idea after all.
