We’re chatting in the Darkolai server and I got hit with an idea.

Aleksander who is the literal personification of Ravka (a la Hetalia but the fanon version), who gets sicker and sicker as the trilogy goes on and the war wears on him, where the Fold is a symptom instead of a cause, and Nikolai manages to put this together sometime during Ruin and Rising when Alina is underground and marches to Os Alta to make an alliance because he is literally hurting Ravka, and that cannot stand.

He comes in and sees that Aleksander is so, so much worse than he thought, and immediately starts doing everything he can to end the civil war as peacefully as possible.

And then Alina shows up and tries to murder Aleksander. Os Alta is rocked by an earthquake, the Fold nearly doubles in size, and Nikolai goes fucking feral.

It turns out he’s literally the only one who put all this together. Not even Aleksander knows. (Baghra does, but she doesn’t actually care and continues advocating the murder of her child.)

There’s a lot of typing happening in the server, because apparently I have released a monster.
