  it was difficult for jason not to smile in the presence of the tameranean. kori had always been one of the few things in jason’s life that stopped him from spiraling in the way that, at this point, he felt like he was destined to. “i don’t think we’re talkin’ about the same jason here, princess.” there’s a faint smile forming to his lips as a hand reaches to rub idly at the back of his neck. “nice t’know someone’s got faith in me, though.” an elbow’s digging playfully into her side. his expression will fall slightly as it comes to light just how much she and roy’s presence affected his life. it had been a lonely year without his team… his family. “everything good with you? need t’know whose ass i gotta kick.”

any other person might believe him whenever he protested her thoughts about him. the red hood wasn’t known for being the most ethical crime fighter out there. before she had gotten to know him even she was wary given the stories she had heard. he had been constantly used as a cautionary tale, a story of what not to do for the younger do gooders. but knowing him now, being his friend, becoming his family she liked to think she knew more or less who he was now. as different as they were they were also similar in what they needed was someone to be there, someone to listen, to take a chance on them. they needed someone to love them without judgement. “ probably not, you tend to see the worst version of yourself. “ she shook her head. “i will always have faith in you jason, no matter what you do. who cares about what anyone says? i know at the end of the day everything you do is with a good heart and good intentions. “ the tameranean rolled her eyes slightly and laughed. “ nothing out of the ordinary. just trying to understand everyone’s sides in this disagreement going on within the mansion. i appreciate the sentiments but you don’t believe i could kick someone’s ass on my own? “

“ i believe that everyone has a right to believe in whatever they wish. after all what is hope without any kind of faith in anything? and i can see where it is that they are coming from, having been exiled and enslaved myself. “ kori pursed her lips as she trailed off in thought. “ but there has to be a better way to do things. i am not saying that violence is wrong. i am just saying that it shouldn’t be our knee jerk reaction. thinking that way....it makes us no better than the people we’re fighting. ”

kori sat on her bed, her back against the headboard as she read the paper to see what the media was making of the spectacle that was the gala. it didn’t take long before she had to look away from all of the false information being spread but her attention soon turned to roy. more often than not they ended up in one of the each others rooms by the end of the night finding solace in each others presence. their personal spaces slowly becoming shared spaces. it had been a thing that had started during their time as outlaws, all three of them had become comfortable with each other. she narrowed her eyes at him for a few seconds before throwing her pillow at him to catch his attention. “So, no pressure or anything, but i am just curious when you are going to ask me out on that proper date that you mentioned a while ago.” She asked with a smirk. “Sometime this century perhaps? Or did you already get cold feet?”

wally: after having had created a vortex to push the sentinels back to the opposite side of the large passageway, wally dashed back to his friends to help and ward off any incoming attacks. when he noticed more enemies barging in he sped back and kept a line of defense. it was effective until he heard someone screaming roy's name. wally whipped around and saw his friend lying on the floor. "roy!" in an instant he was beside him, opposite of his other friend donna, the commotion around him seemingly fading in and out. there was a sentinel dangerously closing in on them. before he could do anything donna was already springing up, the fury in her blue eyes an indication of her rampage to come. he redirected his attention back to roy, staring wide eyed at the laceration in his chest as shaky hands hovered above it. "oh god. no, no." he snapped out of it when he heard dick calling him, telling him to take roy away. he nodded as he gathered his friend's lifeless body and took him to the other side to kori and raven. he didn't say anything to them, still in shock. when he sped back to the other side though, he was met with another devastating scene. "no! dick!" he roared as he saw his friend hurled onto a wall. just when he was almost at his side, he caught a flash of yellow in his peripheral vision and then someone slammed into his side with a great force, throwing him off his feet and sliding across the floor. "dick..." he looked over at their sprawled body before his gaze landed on the enemy speedster heading towards him. he let out a high-pitched wail, a combination of both anger and grief, as he regained his stance and zoomed towards the enemy speedster.

kori: "roy!" she yelled out when the door was finally open and she turned around in place, everything becoming more clear now that she was starting to come out of the trance they had her in when they started experimenting on her. deep down she hoped that it had just been a small injury, something they could fix, but as his body was placed close to her it set in that he was gone. kori leaned against the wall close to the door in silent shock, trying her best to hold back her tears, for now anyways. there wasn't much time to mourn as a few minutes later dick met a similar fate. " dick! no!" everything was going so fast and there was still so much going on and she could feel her body start going into survival mode and adrenaline starting to kick in at the anger and sadness of the loss of her friends. that was two friends that had been lost in a matter of minutes. no, not two friends; two family members; two people she loved. she knew the plan was to retreat as soon as they could but there were still too many of her teammates entangled in brawls and she would be damned if she was going to leave them behind. the tamaranean screamed in rage and lurched forward using that frustration to channel enough energy to utilize her powers and shooting a couple of star bolts at the sentinel that had attacked dick. she hoped to keep some distance between it and her friends but that plan was cut short as the sentinel knocked her to the ground and attempted to bring down the blades on her. thankfully she rolled out of the way just in time for them to miss her and started retreating. she looked at her surroundings as she did, taking inventory of who was left on their team and that's when she noticed wally's predicament. " this can't be. they have metahumans on their side, too? friends, we must leave and regroup! please! we're not ready for this fight and we can't lose anyone else...." she said as she limped backed towards the door.

at this point kori didn’t even know how she was still going. she had been experimented on, she had fought sentinels, and she had watched her closest friends with all her heart. the titans were more than her teammates, they were her family. most people didn’t understand that. they didn’t realize that she had been banished from her home and chased down and hunted until she had found shelter and safety with the titans. so having to watch them be slain by sentinels and not being able to do anything to stop it tore her heart into pieces. but even though she felt like she couldn’t keep going, like she didn’t have the strength to keep going she knew she had to or else all of the sacrifices that her family had made for her would have been for nothing. after having her wounds checked she knew there was something she still had to do before she could go rest. she had to talk to the families and loved ones of her friends. it was a responsibility she had decided to take on herself since the only reason her friends had put themselves in harms way was for her. there was one in particular though that she knew she had to see first. after all they had both loved the same man at some point. she thought it would only be right that she was the one to break the news to the other woman. the tamaranean made her way slowly over to where she knew babs was, her body a bit limp but still shaking slightly from the aches running through it and the shock of all that had happened. “ babs.....do you....do you have a second?... “

the plan was a simple one. all they had to do was go out and get some supplies that they needed desperately back at the mansion. sure kori wasn’t the most incognito person to go out on a stealth mission. after all she was orange and had bright green eyes. it was very obvious she was not of this world. but most of their team was out there on their own missions, doing the most to help out those in need. despite the risks she knew were posed of going out there she figured it was the least she could do to go out there and grab a few things for the good of the residents of the mansion. besides, after she had discovered that raven was also going on this mission kori didn’t even have to think twice about tagging along. as they snuck their way through the streets she came to a halt at the corner of the street across from the building they were going to infiltrate in order to get the things they needed. she peered slightly to see if and how much security would be in their way so they could come up with a more detailed plan. “ doesn’t look too bad. most of the guards in this area do not even seem to be paying much attention to their surrounding. we have this. we simply need to keep a low profile, correct? “ she asked, trying to reassure her best friend. but she couldn’t hide the slight tinge of worry in her voice.

wally: "guys, please. this is not the time to be rankling one another." he shook his head as he let out a soft sigh, turning his focus towards kori afterwards to check up on her condition. "we'll get you out of here as soon as possible. heck i can just pick you up and zoom out." it was an enticing plan, save for the fact that he'd leave the rest of the team alone and wally couldn't bring himself to do that. they all had to stick together no matter what. then of course there was one other thing they all had dreaded about... and it was happening now. "shit!" wally muttered as sentinels flooded in from the other end of the passageway. "we gotta get out of this hall now! someone get that door behind us open while i'll try to slow them down!" wally took off before anyone could object, heading straight for the throng of sentinels.

kori: despite the circumstances that it had been in kori was glad to see the old team back together, helping each other and cracking jokes just like the good old days. it warmed her heart so much it was almost impossible not to snicker at their antics. still she couldn’t help but sense the underlying feeling of worry and apprehension in each of her friends. and she sensed it the most from raven and dick as they both made their way over to assist her. she knew that they both felt some kind of responsibility for her in that moment, raven for being there when she was taken and dick for being their leader, and because of it she mustered up a smile to thank them as they helped her walk. but it was quickly wiped off of her face as the door shut on them and the sounds of enemies making their way over to them boomed through the hall. “i am on it. everyone keep away from the door.“ kori in response to wally's request as she tried to muster up enough strength to throw some starbolts at the door. but the light emanating from her hands flickered as she struggled to control the energy in her weakened state. she grimaced and groaned loudly in panic as she continued to try. “i am trying. it's not....it's not working."

wally: he frowned as he listened to his teammates, eyes roving over the area as he watched for any sudden movements. /"you're right. it felt too easy...almost like they wanted us to break into the base." wally looked over at garth, chuckling softly. "right. i wish that were the case. but i have a bad feeling about this. what if that was their plan and they ambush us any second from now. these people aren't stupid."

kori: she wandered behind her friends, struggling to keep up with them and not to trip over her own two feet. they had put her under some kind of anesthesia while they experimented on her, for part of it anyways, so she was walking around in a bit of a daze. still she didn't mention anything to them, not wanting to burden them with worrying about her anymore than she already had. she put her hands to her temples as she tried to recall any useful information she had from being locked up in there. "i don't trust it. i wish i could recall more...but the details are hazy. just...be on alert. these men are harder to fight than they seem, believe me. " she shook her head and frowned as she continued along. "let us just get out of here as quickly as possible. "
