“You’re smarter than you look. I like a guy with brains.” Joaquin loved teasing, it was one of the things he did best. And if it helped him get away with things, all the better. “You not knowing my name is an easy fix, all you have to do is ask.”
Joaquin couldn’t help the little laugh that escaped his lips at the boy trying so hard to be tough. “Babe, did you see the jacket? Last time I checked, Northsiders don’t typically want to mess around with us. You really feeling that strong today?”
“I have to admit, you’re really good at turning every insult towards you into a compliment towards me.” Kevin rolled his eyes, looking the other way to divert the male’s attention from the smile that was nearly forming on his face. “What’s your name?”
Babe. Now Kevin could feel the red going on his face once more, and his face was a lot hotter. “For one, I don’t agree with the stigma that Northsiders are better than Southsider. And I’m really not trying to pick a fight. Remember, I’m the one trying to stop you from stealing something.” Kevin decided to just pick the item up himself after sighing. “At least walk with me to take this thing back. And I’m Kevin, by the way. Kevin Keller.” He walked towards the inside of the building, and started to put back whatever he had taken.

Okay, so the boy had game, he could work with that. Honestly, Joaquin loved having a boy give it back to him, made it more fun. “I’d actually love a copy of that, thank you.” Joaquin smirked, licking his lip slightly.
“You think I’m hot?” Seeing the boy turn red was enough to encourage Joaquin even more. He put the piece of equipment down and stepped closer to him. “I think we could probably reach an understanding. What do you think?”
“I’d let you borrow it, but I feel like you’d understand why I might have doubts on getting it back.” Kevin wasn’t the type of boy to keep his mouth closed on things he found problematic or questionable - and people tended to forget that because he was still a kind person a majority of the time.
“I’m an honest person. What can I say. I also don’t know your name so I’m going off observation. Would you rather me say Thief?” Kevin was trying his best to recover from his moment, but still noticing that he was being walked closer to. “Sorry, I don’t negotiate with people when they are in the wrong. Put it back and I’ll consider thinking about it.” He was still staring and clearly putting on a facade.

Joaquin really didn’t have a reason for being at the drive in, especially for the equipment. It was more of a sticky fingers type situation. Items that didn’t look like they were important typically had a way of finding Joaquin. He was amazed that nobody had stopped him until he heard the voice of another male.
Joaquin turned to face the boy and offered his best smile. “I was just…taking it for a walk.” A lame excuse, Joaquin realized that as soon as he said it, but he knew how to turn this around. “But, I’d much rather take you for a walk.”
"You know, I’m an avid reader and know all from the cover to the conclusion on Excuses You’ve Heard Before and Know are Lies. I can lend you a copy.” Kevin folded his arms, raising the both of his eyelids. The male with a face that he couldn’t help but find attractive but he wasn’t backing down.
“I’m pretty good on walk-” Did Kevin hear that right? Instantly his face went lightly red, and his entire face went from confident to confused. He shook his head, completely thrown off. “I..you really need to put that equipment back.I’m not going to let up on you just because you’re hot. I’ve been there, done that.”

(¸.• ♛ → A small laugh escaped from her lips when he said that. “As much as I love them, I hope not because they were also complicated and I want if this ever happens, well, that we are not that complicated.” Or she was hoping there for the best, of course. A sigh escaped from her lips, maybe everything was going to be okay, she really wanted to believe all of that. “You really think so? But I think that only applies to guys calling someone bro, right?” Yeah she wasn’t sure since well, she never saw Archie calling her bro or anything maybe that was a good sign. “Don’t worry, I won’t do anything drastic and I really try but Cheryl can be very intimidating and honestly, I pefer to avoid conflict.” Because if she doesn’t, she might say something that she can actually regret or something like that. “I’m never tired of that but sounds good to me, we can do that, being new here must be really hard so we can be nice and try to be her friends.” After all, that’s who she was and being new in this place must be really feel out of place maybe but she wanted to actually get to know this Veronica girl. “So what you are looking is not a serious relationship? I just always thought you wanted more, since you are always telling me to go for it with Archie, I just thought….”
Kevin agreed without ease, forgetting the drama that involved that entire relationship and the comparison was a sweet dream surrounded by clouds of pains. Betty deserved more than pain, Kevin felt as if she deserved the world. Getting past her issues regarding confidence was a work in progress, and he knew it was inside of her and needed to bloom (he refused to even think about using the word blossom). “I concede, you’re absolutely correct. Let’s do a better comparison - Jim and Pam.” He never watched the Office but social media love to idolize the couple so of course he knew about them. “Most of the time, but we both know I have a track record of misunderstanding and misreading people.” He shrugged, admitting to his fault. He turned over in the back onto his back. “Conflict is annoying, but there’s a difference between avoiding conflict for being dramatic and avoiding conflict when you’re clearly being targeted for no reason. If you need me to talk to Cheryl, I don’t mind. She scares me, but she doesn’t have an effect on my life.” Kevin went wide-eyed, and gulped. “At least, not that I’m aware of.” She was Cheryl Blossom, and had a knack for finding creative ways to bring someone down. “Perfect. I’m going to the nightclub this weekend, and I’d imagine she’d be there considering she’s fresh off New York time when Saturday nights don’t involve going to Pop’s. If you’re in, let me know. I can get you a fake ID by then.” Kevin had his ways and resources. He may also take his dad’s keys to get into the license office and make his own. “Maybe I want more. I just really don’t like getting possibly hurt which is what every gay relationship seems to involve in small towns. There’s no current suitors and I’m very comfortable being a one night stand. I’m hot and charismatic - I’ll find someone eventually. Why not have fun now?”

Polly knew all of Betty’s friends. Unlike their parents, she was involved in her little sister’s life purely because she cared. Any time they went out to play, Polly would go to watch over them when mom and dad were too caught up in work. Eventually, they got old enough to look after themselves, but that didn’t mean Polly started to ignore them. She actually quite liked all of them. Betty had a good judge of character. All her friends were taken under the taller blonde’s wing as if they were all her younger siblings. Still, she had to double take at the boy speaking to her now. He was familiar, but she couldn’t place why straight away. It didn’t take long for the penny to drop and when it did, she was quickly putting her book down on the park bench and jumping up with a smile. “Oh my, Kevin Keller! Look at you,” Polly beamed. “I have a bottle of cold water from the fridge. You seem to need it more.” Immediately, she was reaching into her bag to hand the bottle over. She wouldn’t even consider taking no for an answer.
Kevin was going to beat himself up for not realizing he’d been talking to Polly Cooper, his best friend’s older sister. He’d practically been around the girl for most of his life until circumstance caused them to not see one another as much. Kevin knew that Betty had overbearing and overprotective parents and always trusted that Polly was someone Betty could trust and they were very close. His entire face had lit up and he quickly pulled her into a small hug before taking the bottle of water. “Polly, you know I had to give you a hug before taking that. It’s great to see you!” Once the hug was over, Kevin took the water bottler and took a quick drink. “Thank you so much. How have you been?”

Kevin loved volunteer work. He always volunteered when he had the time, and as he was getting more and more involved at Riverdale High School he didn’t have nearly as much time. The sixteen year old agreed to help clean up the drive-in, which had years of cleaning that needed to be done and Kevin was with a group of people that agreed to help. He had decided to clean the walls of the building where food had been served when he spotted a male with a serpent jacket walking out with equipment that was definitely old and surely not being used, but it still belonged to someone else.
“Excuse me. You do realize I’m watching you take something that isn’t yours, right?” Kevin confronted the male, even though he was cute that still didn’t change the fact. “If you put it back I won’t say anything.”

“You’ve always seem more in me than Most, Kevin Keller.” Moose chuckles softly. He knew he wasn’t the best catch, Midge tended to remind him sometimes. Plus most people didn’t see a Big lug like him as boyfriend material. He just got lucky with Midge. Even then, he could barely keep her. “It’s fine. She wanted it. Said I was overreacting.” He shrugs. His ex was a completely different topic that usually he always wants to talk about. But the breakup was lasting longer than it usually does. It had him thinking.
“You know I like to make friends.” Of course his friend was walking the line between more than that. He didn’t really know what was going on there. “I hope you’re being careful with that, Kev. You never know who’s out there.”
“I’m not like most people, Moose Mason.” Kevin responded back, not meaning to sound cocky but it was the truth. He was different than a majority of people in Riverdale, and that’s what makes him Kevin Keller. “And I like being around you because you’re a good person, that means you get all the compliments and flattery from me.” Kevin bit his inner cheek, trying not to sound negative about Midge because in the end, Kevin knew that Moose had a place in his heart for her. “Well, if you ever want to talk about it. I’m here.” He tapped Moose’s side, giving him a reassuring smile.
“It’s one of your many amazing qualities.” Kevin was usually the best at flirting, but for some reason it was harder with Moose. He didn’t know what it was, and most of the time passed it off as Moose being that type of person, and maybe there was more. “There is nothing you need to worry about. It’s Riverdale, nothing will happen. You have a lot on your plate and I really don’t want anyone worrying, especially people like yourself. Certain things are hard to get for people in my circumstance in such a small town so being careful is the least of my worries. I’ll be fine, Moose.”

Veronica’s eyes went wide as the boy spoke. She wasn’t one to judge or make assumptions, but she instantly got a feeling that the boy before her was gay, which made him even more appealing to her. If there was one thing Veronica loved, it was a gay best friend. “Don’t worry Kevin, you’re not too much at all. In fact, I absolutely love it. It’s nice seeing someone with passion, especially here. And trust me, if you’re looking for a girl to talk about fashion and culture with, I’m totally your girl.” She offered a kind smile before her hand raised up to her pearls. Her father had given them to her and she hardly even realized she was wearing them anymore, it was almost like they were part of her. “Thank you, they were a gift.”
“RIverdale is…well it’s Riverdale. My mom has all these amazing memories of this place and I’m just…bored so far. A drive in? I didn’t think those actually existed, that’s insane.” The more Veronica learned about this town the more blown away she was. “I get the speech? I’m honored.” She replied as she grabbed a shot from the tray. “Here’s to, new friends, new experiences and hopefully fun times.” Veronica raised her glass to Kevin’s before bringing it to her lips and swallowing it down.
Kevin smiled. There was a good feeling that he was becoming friends with Veronica Lodge. He didn’t care about her money, he actually admired her as a person and loved the energy she radiated. Veronica, like Kevin, were people who had skill sets, goals, interests, and personalities that were beyond Riverdale. “Thank you. Passion would be my middle name if it wasn’t already Thomas. You’ll learn that my best friend, Betty Cooper, and I get involved in everything. Feel free to use me as a guide for everything that is Riverdale. That even includes the spots not everyone knows about.” Kevin was a man of many words, and always tried to get to the bottom of his curiosities.
He nodded, knowing the feeling of boredom all too well. “Unfortunately, boredom is a plague in this town. That’s why you have to find the right people - such as yours truly.” Kevin pointed to himself, flipping his hair that was no longer held by the gel because of the sweat from being in the bar. “Riverdale is great for the 1970s aesthetic, we have things that would surprise you but you’ll get used to it.” Kevin nodded along to her speech, raising his glass before drinking the contents of the shot.
“So, do you have any questions that you’re dying to know? My dad is the sheriff so I find out more than I should. Is it bad that I love it?”

“Hercules? I can bench a lot but I’m not that strong, Kev.” He chuckles, stepping to the side so Kevin could take a drink if he wanted. Moose was friendly to everyone especially Kevin. Can you blame him? Kevin was always a cutie. “It’s alright. Midge ditched out. Met some new people. You?”
“Hercules also has great qualities such as loyalty and empathy that shines brighter than his physical strength.” Kevin stated, not allowing Moose to downplay his compliment. “That’s still a lot, Mr. Moose the Modest.” He put his arms into a fold, admiring Moose as always. “Sorry to hear about Midge.” Kevin never knew if the two were on good terms or not so he usually waited until the two mentioned one another. “Good to hear you’re meeting people. Most of the people I’ve met lately have been in FoxForest. But the talking is more than friendly.”

Fang laughed nodding his head, this kid was something else and he couldn’t decide if it was a good kind or a bad kind yet “Well then maybe you should come and check out the southside more often we have a lot of risk out there just by walking it , if you don’t belong to anyone and if you do if you walk on the wrong side”he said, Fang took the males hand shaking it fastly and letting go “Yeah I bit sweetpea in like first grade and it’s just become a name I live with now” he laughed I know who are that’s why I said what you did was a big risk not just for you but serpents too because if anything happened we’d be first blame”
Kevin grinned from cheek to cheek. “That sounds like a good idea to me, maybe you could show me some of the prime spots?” He’d never been deep into the southside, just on patrol with his father at times but never anything other than a general visit. “I don’t mind going to the Southside also. I know first hand from my dad that it gets a bad rep, especially on the Northside.” Kevin chuckled at Fangs story, never expecting that to be the reason. “Creative. My name is just Kevin and I go by Kev.” He was trying to figure out the vibe of their conversation, trying to figure out Fangs but he was having a hard time reading him. “I’m sure you’d do the same for me. If anything comes up, I’ll be sure to let my dad know. I don’t mind getting in trouble for helping someone out. I’ll just bring up something about my sexuality because my dad is clueless on the matter and it’ll throw him off.”

Moose stepped away from the fountain, wiping his face with his shirt when he heard Kevin’s voice. A grin appeared on his face. “Nothing that would hurt ya, Kev! Granted there was that one time I got sick during the water but I think it was because Reggie dared me to drink it out of a shoe.”
Kevin smiled when he spotted Moose, something he found himself doing from time to time. His eyes looking at Moose’s abs from wiping his shirt with it, and looked back to Moose. “You know, something tells me your body is better suited for things mine couldn’t handle. And..I mean that in a nice way because you’re literally hercules. Actually, that would be an amazing idea because we could get Josie and the Pussycats to sing as the three sisters...” He was trailing off, shaking his head lightly to put himself back into gear. “Anyways, it’s good to see you Moose. How has summer been so far for you?”

“They made six seasons?” Toni didn’t necessarily keep up with it, an episode here and there when her uncle left her home alone. She’d seen enough to know six seasons was too many. “We’re just teenagers. How are we supposed to know anything? Besides, we’re all too worked up nowadays. We just need to chill out and accept these obvious injustices.” More than she’d care to admit was paraphrased from her uncle. When Kevin asked to know more about her, Toni raised an eyebrow as she considered it. He was nice, but he was still a stranger. Still a Northsider. Still the Sherrif’s son. Toni didn’t let the conversation falter because of her hesitation, but instead relaxed back into the booth and kept her playful tone present. “I don’t know, I think I’m kind of rocking the mysterious stranger, don’t you?”
“Unfortunately. I did love the covers of that show, that’s mostly what kept me hanging on.” Kevin was a hardcore fan and still listens to the covers to this very day. “Something tells me things are only going to get worse. Don’t know why. My gut is usually the worst thing to trust, but mostly when I make reckless decisions.” Kevin was a reckless person, mostly to himself, but it was part of him and he loved it. It was a pretty recent thing since becoming a beautiful swan. “You. are. perfect.” Kevin stated, already admiring the girl and knew she could kick ass. “You are rocking it, that’s for sure. We have to break the ice somehow. Here...let me show you something.” Kevin pulled out his phone, showing Toni what he used to look like at the beginning of his freshman year. “That was me, 9 months ago.”

Fangs hadn’t seen Kevin since the little fight he had broken up between another serpent and a ghoulie. To say he was least expecting to bump into him again anytime soon would be a lie he thought honestly he’d never see him again but here they were and stuck between wanting to say something and being scared to say anything at all “Hey”He said softly finally deciding to say something “I’m not sure if I ever said thank you about the whole fight thing, but it was kind of impressive and risky if i’m being honest”He laughed “I’m Fangs by the way”
@kcvinkcllcr
Kevin had the mind of the fight that took place a few days ago, wondering just how well the male had been doing. He dropped him off where he needed to go and was right on his way. Maybe he wanted to see him again and had been slightly curious as to how things turned up. Kevin had been walking through downtown Riverdale when he heard a familiar voice. “Oh. Hey!” Kevin said when he spotted the familiar face. “You didn’t but I’ll forgive you because you’re doing it now and you said my skills were impressive.” He chuckled. “I take a lot of risks, not going to lie, they are the most fun.” Kevin extended his hand, giving another smile. “Fangs? I like the creative name. Don’t know if i said it before but I’m Kevin Keller. And yes, son of the sheriff but believe me when I say that I don’t share a lot of my life with my dad.”

(¸.• ♛ → “Well, yeah, who wouldn’t? He is just…too sweet, nice and people around here are nothing like him, I do think he is the one.” He is the one for her and she really but really wanted to be with him, to have a date with him for him to know her feelings, it was frustrating that he didn’t have a clue about anything. “Thank you, I wish to know what he thinks about me, I mean, you think he might see me as his sister or something? I really wish he doesn’t.” Because if she actually tells him how she feels, it would be very awkward for them. A small sigh escaped from her lips, everything was complicated because Betty didn’t have really experience with guys, she hasn’t been able to date or have a boyfriend before. “I will do that, always prepare but yes, I was surprise so now I’m going to take this opportunity and try to just…give her what wants me to give in the tryouts.” Trying was the key word because she was also trying to figure it out what she meant. “She told me my attitute was as good as a pink sweater, in her own words that I guess I was too nice? How can I change that? Is not like I can be mean like her, is not me.” No, of course, and she was actually trying to think how to at least do a good routine that shows more confidence, that she can do, she was sure about it. “True but people are afraid of Cheryl, maybe this will cause some drama but if Veronica is really a nice girl, I wouldn’t mind to meet her, besides, making new friends is never bad, right?” Being new in a town that now people make gossips a lot, it must be hard so Betty really want to know more about her and maybe helping her to adjust. “I bet someone will, Kev but if you have your eye on someone, I should be the first one to know.”
Kevin put his hand over his heart. “You being this happy is giving me flashbacks to my Dan and Serena days.” He was a sucker for romance and living vicariously through other people. Kevin did think Archie was cute, but they were on two different levels of the spectrum and he’d never cross that line when Betty was head over heels for him.”Sister? No. I’ve learned that the straight male friend zone involves the use of the word ‘bro’ or Archie being TMI.” He shook his head at the thought. “Just don’t sacrifice your humanity to be a Vixen. Remember when Sarah Sprout cut all of her hair off and cried in the girl’s bathroom for several hours because she made it to second rounds and was then cut.” Kevin watched the entire event on Instagram live and felt bad but couldn’t take his eyes off the ordeal. “You don’t. Mean is not in the Betty Cooper brand and doesn’t need to be. I do think you should stand up for yourself more but that doesn’t involve stooping to what Cheryl says.” Kevin wouldn’t allow his best friend to go down that path. “You may be tired of my gossip girl references but I’m getting a real Blair vibe, Betty. Let’s invite her to Pops and offer her a true tour of Riverdale.” He laughed. “I don’t do crushes, that only leads to broken hearts and passive aggressive social media post. But you’ll be the first to know.”

Cheryl kept herself busy always. Summer meant no school, which meant more time at home. That most definitely wasn’t happening. It was no secret Cheryl never wanted to be inside Thornhill’s walls. Especially if her mother was there. Add her determination and dedication towards her squad, Cheryl Blossom had her jogging clothes on and was out the door. Of course, She never knew how to stop. Often pushing her girls past their limits. As Jason likes to call it, her “too much” gene often showed its ugly head. She bent down to grab a drink from the fountain, knowing exactly where the pipes led to when she heard a familiar voice. “Keller! If I’m drinking from it, you know it’s not polluted.”
Kevin sighed with a forced smile on his face at the sight of Cheryl Blossom. He held a slight amount of unadmitted fear but usually responded back to her jabs and insults.”Cheryl. It’s great to see you too.” He folded his arms. Never has there been any hatred or dislike towards Cheryl, but he wasn’t going to subject to allowing her to have a hold over him like a lot of people in the school. “I appreciate you giving me a sarcastic response and not a simple answer.” He rolled his eyes. “How’s the start of your summer been?”

After spending the past week nonstop with her mother, Veronica desperately needed a break. She’d heard about a few night clubs in town, and all she had to do was flash the bouncer a one hundred dollar bill and she was in. Truly it was her go to means of getting what she wanted, and it hadn’t failed her yet.
She knew that if she got too drunk, her mother would ground her into next year, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t sip on a glass of wine while sitting at the bar. Veronica knew that people were staring, and it never really bothered her until now. With all the rumors surrounding her family, she knew what all the strangers were thinking about her while she sat there.
Luckily, a boy stepped up to her, already offering her shots and calling her the Queen of New York. A title she rightfully deserved. “Four shots for two people hm? You speak my language.” She extended her hand out to the boy. “You already know who I am, but I don’t know you, who are you?”
“Kevin Keller. And I’m sorry if I’m too much at the moment but you don’t understand how excited I am to have someone who appreciates and has a lot of the same interests as me. I’m an amazing friend who will give you the rundown on any and everyone.” He extended his hand, shaking it fast out of pure excitement. “I must say, it’s wonderful to have someone in Riverdale who appreciates fashion, modern culture, and breaking down barriers.” Riverdale was different than New York, and he didn’t know how well she’d deal with the adjustments but Kevin wasn’t worried. He put his arm on the bar after the hand shake ended. “And I love the pearls by the way.”
When buzzed or drunk, Kevin tended to completely speak his mind and dropping all filters. He loved this club. People knew he was the son of the sheriff but tended to not say anything because Kevin was a regular who loved spending money. “How are you liking Riverdale so far? It’s a lot different. We still have a drive-in. It’s fun to go to, but in a day and age where modern amenities are beating old traditions they are thriving in Riverdale. The drive-in has seen better days, but it’s one of few things to do around here.” He took a shot from the tray, gesturing Veronica to do the same. “You should lead the pre-shot saying.”

(¸.• ♛ → Betty was aware how Kevin never lie to her or to himself or anyone for that matter, she was aware how he was now and she was so proud to be his friend because she was always proud of himself, she wishes to be like him, because most of the time she’s lying to herself, to her family and even friends of who she was. “I know but you also know how I think about all of this.” Especially about her insecurities because she was always this way, Betty just couldn’t help herself. “Maybe, I just wish to know what he thinks about me but like really thinks, if he sees me just as his best friend or something more maybe? I can’t really tell.” Sometimes Archie can be an open book to her but when it comes to his feelings, usually she was just confuse about that. “Maybe this can be your year as well and find someone, I always believe there is someone out there for you.” And maybe this year could be finally their year, she feels so excited about this because it was time for them to just try and make their own fate. Now a small laugh escaped from her lips when he said that. “I don’t know if we should do that though but she did invite me to some cheerleading camp for the vixens and those that wanted to be part of the team so…I will hope for the best there. I just don’t get what she means about wanting to see fire…” She wasn’t cold but she also knew that sometimes she can be a bit cold when she was nervous especially, it was just complicated but she wanted to be part of the team so badly this year. “Maybe or maybe not but either way if she can handle small town drama or not, I know that I would prefer if people don’t comment that about my life. Do you think that could be possible? Cheryl is going to bring this girl down if she tries to steal her position, I don’t know Veronica Lodge to see if she can actually handle Cheryl Blossom but between us….I wouldn’t mind, someone really needs to give Cheryl some competition.”
“And it’s justified considering you’ve had feelings for Archie most of your life.” Kevin and Betty have been friends forever, and she was his best friend out of any and everyone. There were days spent when he’d watch as she would light up the biggest smile when Archie would say or do something even before they were older than 6. “Archie is more oblivious than a lot of people. I wish I could fix it because you two would make an amazing couple.” He’d been on the Barchie train since day one and never planned on getting off. Kevin laid on his back and watched as Betty continued to overstress about the event, but he couldn’t blame her. Never has Kevin been in her shoes, and the both of them have been single practically all of their lives. “Cheryl did what? That’s a good sign. Just make sure you bring a water bottle to spray in case she attacks. But anyways, you’ll totally nail it. If I need to do anything, please let me know.” Kevin knows it’s been a dream for Betty to become a vixen, and he hopes this year Cheryl will actually let her join. “You know this town though. Something as big as this happening shakes things up. Nothing ever happens around here, let’s be honest. I do think it’s possible. Cheryl has too many connections and holds over people, with Veronica, she’s has nothing. New York always outmatches Riverdale.” Kevin had already requested to follow her across all social media platforms, already wanting to be her friend and ally. “And the more friends, the absolute better. Now we just need someone gay to come to town that’s hot and I’ll be set.”
