I will admit I don’t even halfway understand ‘the other Kokichi’ either, but I’m nevertheless interested in learning about him by reading up theories about him made by people who are really invested in it. And that’s a bigger enjoyment to me than seeing immature people arguing about canon ships and character’s sexualities, that end up in calling each other ‘abusive’ for having different opinions.

It’s a shame there will be more search results for headcanon territory such as ‘Saiouma’, ‘Is Kokichi gay?’ or ‘Is Kokichi trans?’ than actual theories or thoughts about the person he was in the game. It seems as if the fandom really is too immature and cares about ships rather than about the plot. Looking back, people shipped Oumami etc even before the game was out and threw a tantrum when it turned out as ‘just bait’. That should say a lot about the kind of people that are now part of the Kokichi fandom.

I don’t know if anything can be changed about that now that the english version is out for almost a year. I think people are just so stubborn, so it’s always good to discover a few mature theory blogs inbetween the immature mass.

(I will be honest I found your blog because I was genuinly interested in Kokichi’s canon age. I find there are some hints in the game that make me think that he might not be as young as he looks. Additionally, Kodaka mentioned Kokichi to be the ‘oldest male’. But how old exactly? I wanted to know if someone has more thoughts on this and ended up here. I noticed a great lack of Kokichi fans even questioning his age or having thoughts on this topic.)

Is it bad that I find Ouma haters more tolerable than the majority of his fanbase? At least his haters aren't buying into the "he was just paranoid" bullshit. Ouma is my favorite but his characters is so incredibly misunderstood.

I’ve noticed it with hentai fanbases that the people are really chill because they seem to have accepted their own flaws to openly be into these kind of things.

I used to be part of the mature writer communities and those people are the most chill, lovely people out there. They are also very accepting of things such as ‘opinions differ’, ‘taste is subjective’ etc. They will talk about deeper issues, about mature themes and discuss how they can include dark themes in a sensitive way. Some of them want to write stories to arouse, others want to write stories to educate. A lot of them have been abuse survivors just as me who coped by writing these kind of things. Others weren’t and just wrote smut for fun, but that way I learned that it’s ok to be sexually attracted for no reason, that it’s a ‘normal’ thing. It was such a friendly and helpful environment.

And just being in this kind of community, I’ve found an acceptance I found nowhere else on the internet. A lot of websites try to accomplish making the internet safe for everyone. But that will never happen because as I figured, people will get irked out by subjective things. Someone might find a harmless fluff fic completly okay, others will flip their tables about this and scream: ‘This is po/rn! Think of the children who might see this!’

I also noticed how the hentai/mature communities have a really really great understanding of helping others up and teaching them to become better. If they dislike something, they will be bold and say it. But it’s not to public shame the person but to tell them how they can be better and this is a really friendly ability that I hardly see in sfw fandoms/spaces.

At least this is my experience with it. I’m probably wrong about generalising some things here, but my experience was really great and I miss the time before NSFW was banned from almost all places I go or gets bashed on all places I’m active.

I don’t want to settle over into full hentai communities, I sort of want to accept NSFW to be one of ‘many’ of my interests. It’s really a shame purity culture that is recently showing up on tumblr, twitter etc has made even the interest in a hentai make people be seen as ‘a failure as a human being’.

A lot of my friends have also openly stated that they are too scared to even express their liking for any hentai or smut just because of the intolerance of keyboard smashers, who really should learn it’s not their business to search up other people’s blog just to hate-follow them and hunt them down.

so many anime people, dudes into japanese game and even full on hentai addicts are more functional, nice, and fun than these pretentious idiots that clearly never socialize with anyone on any level deeper than keysmashing at each other over discord or tumblr chats and don’t say anything to each other or talk about any deeper than surface issues because the latter is in communities that are so language policed, laced with tension and such that any minor misstep is met with mass disavowal and internet drama

and people get really mad when people point this out because toxic people don’t wanna see their reflection, like how dorian gray stabbed his portrait

I’m not part of his fanbase but I’m really thankful for posts like this. I really enjoyed reading this and I feel like posts as these make me understand the character better, even though I don’t actively search him up (I’d call myself neutral towards this character).

This post pretty much summed up what bugs me about his fanbase, I just couldn’t put my finger on it myself. So this was a very interesting read.

I’ve noticed a bunch of his fans being very unreasonable when they are defending him and therefore painting him as unreasonable as well when they run out of arguments due to their poor research/understanding. They are also caring more about shipping this character with Shuichi and defending the ship rather than actually understanding the characters.

Critical posts or theories about Kokichi are of so much more valueable than statements of shallow fans who defend him to their deaths. This character is really interesting when looked at from a mature and critical stance and it’s a shame 90% of his supporters are unreasonable and immature and push it onto him as if it was a self-insert.

Ever since Trigger Happy Havoc I’ve been a huge admirer of Danganronpa with a lot of love for it to give and I wanted to express my graditude to the newest installment of the franchise by creating a zine from fans for fans.
