"Free yourself from grief, attachment to love, and worry. Those who seek pleasure for themselves should remove the arrows of worldly desires. If you remove the arrows of worldly desires and gain peace of mind without worrying about them, you will transcend all sorrows, be free of sadness, and return to peace." Buddha (Sutta Nipata “The Great Chapter” 592-593)

Do I know what it means to look, to listen? If I am listening with thought, then I am listening through fragmentation, liking or not liking. So do I know what it means to look, to listen? If I don’t, don’t let me pretend by saying, ‘I should, should not; it must be, must not be.’ I don’t know what it means to look or listen – that is a simple fact. Then I can proceed. Most of us are so vain and pretentious; we have not a spark of humility. And it needs humility – in the right sense, not in the priestly sense – to examine, to look.
