Do you guys ever think about how he's risen to the top. (how did he get there? What do you do to earn the title of world's greatest hitman?) How he's seen to be cautious and wise beyond his years? How he's entirely self sufficient without a family to be affiliated to?

Do you ever think about how hes survived in a place like this entirely alone and has taken it upon himself to tutor future mafia bosses? Why? Why make the effort? What is he trying to change?

Do you ever think about how he never seems frightened as his students when their enemies are cruel? How used to it he is? How it doesn't frighten him, but rather exhausts him? Do you ever notice the pride in his face when Tsuna chooses to be kind and forgiving? Have you ever noticed how he notices Yamamoto's capabilities as a hitman and tells him to do his best to keep his carefree smile?

Have you ever noticed how he cautions against Tsuna too easily forgetting about what Mukuro has done to them? (To keep his guard up against someone who's intentions are not clear?)

Have you ever noticed how he smiles in resignation and isn't surprised that he's going to die to complete someone else's revenge scheme? How he expected that his curse would never allow for anything more than a dog's death? Caught in the crossfires of someone else's problem? How he figures that if it's going to happen anyway, he might as well do something with the time left in him? Leave his mark somewhere? Do you ever wonder when exactly Reborn took up teaching the younger Mafia bosses?

CALLOUT POST FOR FUCKING EURIPIDES

Okay so I make a lot of canon-adjacent posts. *gestures at my food post* very canon very important very informative. But my heart is full of whimsy and magic and sugar and spice and everything nice.

Today I wanted to talk about some of my hcs that I have regarding Tsuna and Reborn. Shit I just completely made up ^v^ I'll do five each to not make this a long post again rkehns.

Tsuna:

Grows up to really like coffee like his mentor, but could never really stand straight espresso. From my food post research, I saw that he is a snack food fiend. So, I think he's the type to enjoy lattes, frappuccinos, and mocha. What I'm saying is that he walks into Vongola meetings with a iced coffee and he stress-drinks it for the sugar rush.

Good with kids! I don't think he wants kids of his own, because he has enough of those, but he's the perfect balance of playful and strict. I do think though, if he did become a parent by some accident, he'd be the stricter one of the two. Mom is gonna be the fun one and Dad is the one that brings crazy things around you, but tries to put you to bed at 8pm.

Still a bit of a dumbass as a mafia boss. The moment he found out he has to give salaries to people and try to tax that shit and file it with their IRS but also do the calculations himself, since technically he shouldn't show that information to Gokudera or anyone else that will know how to Math. He lives each paycheck day in fear that he will wake up the next morning and get arrested for fraud.

Actually bars anyone from bringing in pets to Vongola HQ. Believes they have their hands full with their box animals. "No, Yamamoto please we can't keep the box of stray puppies lets take that to a shelter -" "Gokudera, I see that you have a kitten in your pocket where.. where did you get it.." "Hibari.. Carry on, ignore me :)"

Has developed noise-cancelling ears. Doesn't hear the screams anymore. An ally family will comment on the noise at Vongola HQ and Tsuna will be like "..wdym? :o do you hear something?" Look around and will completely ignore Fuuta and I-Pin strapping Lambo to a medical desk as they are threatened by Bianchi, who is putting on sterile gloves and getting the scalpel. The silence though? The silence scares him. (WHAT A SOMBER LINE TO LEAVE OFF ON)

Reborn:

Super good with the ladies. I know this is something said in the story, but I mean the type that has the whole casual flirting with no weight to it thing down. But, also a little bit standoffish, like you'll never really get to know him this way. It's very strategic, but he does it for fun!!

Tries to teach Tsuna how to hide a body on multiple occasions, in case he ever needs it, but mostly to torment Tsuna. "You can't incinerate all your enemies to ash everytime, it'll get really obvious after awhile. You have to spice it up. Now, put on these gloves. I have someone for us to use" "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVE SOMEONE?"

I've said this one before, but it deserves saying again! I've always believed that pre-curse, his cosplay skills had real use! It was something he would use to sneak into buildings into or seduce who he needed to, before he brings the gun to their head. Very comfortable in skirts, dresses, wigs, makeup, etc. Wears his new identities like a second skin.

He snickers and sneers and smirks his way throughout the series (or does a lil maniacal evil laugh), but I bet his real laugh, uncursed, is deep and low. Something he keeps just in his throat, not loud at all. A softened version of his smirk on his face, pleased and relaxed. If you weren't paying attention, you'd miss it as he flips back into his regular demeanor.

LOVES judging things. Always the referee in their games (Snowfight!). Taste-testing (Mochi chapter!). Anything. He's judgmental and you WILL hear his opinion. I fully believe in the three criminal brothers episode, where Nana gets him coffee beans from a shop, he gets straight home afterwards and stands on the counter with his hands on his hips as it brews. He was prepared. Tsuna buys new snacks so Reborn opens all of them to take a bite and decide which one he likes best before taking it, leaving Tsuna with a bunch of opened bags. Ranks the guardians on obscure shit just to get them riled up "Most likely to win at a dance competition in a chicken suit" and he'll put Yamamoto above Gokudera just to watch him fume. A villain. I love him.

You know what, since I'm thinking about it anyways, let's talk formalwear accessories. Most of these are traditionally menswear but a bit of gender fuckery is good for the soul, and frankly most of these are about making your mass-produced clothing fit and lay properly without having to go to the tailor.

Shirt stays: these go around your thighs to hold your shirt down, so that it stays smooth and tucked in. They're usually elastic, with 1-3 clips, and if you wear skirts frequently this is a GREAT way to make sure your top doesn't ride up. The clips will be visible if you're wearing something tight, so loose pants or skirts are where these do best. There's also an insane version that clips to your socks, but that is for lunatics. If you wanted, you could also use one of these clips to hold up thigh-highs.

These do a great job of smoothing and narrowing the waist area by keeping your shirt from bunching there.

Sleeve garters: usually metal, leather, elastic, or silk. These are usually worn with button-down shirts to adjust where your cuff falls on the wrist or hand. They're properly worn on the upper arm, and you pull the fabric of the sleeve above the garter until you cuff is where you want it. Because this creates a puff of sleeve at the bicep, it also broadens the appearance of the shoulders. It's great if you're working with your hands or if your sleeves are often too long for your preference.

Waistband clip or belt adjustment clip/buttons: Three different ways of tightening the waistband of a pair of pants or a skirt. You're not going to get more than an inch or so tighter without weird bunching, and for most of these you'd want them to be hidden under a shirt or jacket, but they do the job if that's something you're having issues with.

Collar pins: There are so many fun ones out there, both with and without chains. They're not terribly practical, though the slight weight may help keep your collar where you want it. Also consider collar tips, which pin (surprise) to the very tips of your collar points.

Sweater clips/guards: meant to hold your sweater or cardigan mostly closed. Great if your cardigan doesn't button, or if you don't like it to be buttoned all the way.

There's tons of other stuff out there like this--etsy is a great place to find this stuff. A lot of these are old solutions to the very modern problem of mass-maufactured clothes not being as one-size-fits-all as advertised, but they're also a fun way to put a bit of personality into businesswear.

One headcanon that I've had for myself is that Luce is probably one of Reborn's exes, and I'm straight up so fine with that fact if its true. The way Uni calls him uncle does confirm it somewhat to me (im delusional) and it just seems so sweet. They both seem like people who would break up on good terms, and seeing how tight-knit and family-wise Reborn treats Uni will never let me back down from this headcanon

I think Tsuna is actually deeply cognizant of Reborn’s latent suicidal ideation, especially as he gets older and realizes that Reborn’s been doing stupid, reckless things to himself his whole life (he doesn’t want to consider that he really is not any better)

And like. Tsuna can track the patterns in their relationship.

The over the top barbed wire and grenades? Was less about safety. Sure it was a comfort, but it was also about keeping him, and others, away

Both physically and emotionally, because who wants to learn to understand a crazy guy who threatens to blow you up if you interrupt his nap?

And those things went away, eventually. Eventually, Reborn gave up and settled in for the long haul

He gives up a lot

Reborn’s entire relationship with Bianchi is formatted around Reborn giving up as well. Of not trying to clear things up and just letting her do as she likes. Like it’s fine right? He’ll die and she’ll move on

But all the sudden he’s NOT going to die soon at all and he has to figure out how to get out of this mess. But instead of being proactive, he just. Continues as normal

He really doesn’t know how to break up with someone normally at all (lol)

I’m sorry Bianchi I don’t think it’s older men that suck. I think the men of the underworld are just trash in general. If Tsuna wasn’t her rival for Reborn’s attention he’d be her type by now (LOL)

God where was I going with this. I just. I think it’s wildly fascinating that so many of Reborn’s relationships are informed by his conviction that he’s gonna die and there’s nothing he can do about it, but his relationship with Tsuna is something that continues to progress in direct defiance of that, and just. How important it is to have someone who wants you to live and is very stubborn about that.

To have someone who loves you so much that even when you don’t love yourself, it’s a little easier to breathe.
