Being a bit crazy about ocs you make for games sucks. Because you'll be there like "ohhhh I should replay with my special little guy" as if you didn't just beat the game with that OC not even two days ago. Hundreds of choices in rpgs and I am playing as the same little guy and making the same little choices. Fuckkk

genuinely something so delightful about getting obsessed with your own characters. what do you MEAN I can turn my headcanons for my characters into Official Real Lore. that's so fucking cool are you serious

The real thing with ADHD is not "I forgot", but that forgetting is this ongoing process. I remembered! And then I forgot.

At ten this (hypothetical) morning I remembered that I have a meeting at six. And then from 11 through 3 I worked on other stuff and had zero thoughts about that meeting. Maybe even thought about what I was gonna do with my evening at home. Got attached to the idea of taking the time to make a good dinner, maybe play some video games.

And then at three I said, "Oh! Fuck!" and remembered again, hopefully long enough to set an alarm. And then I went to the bathroom and remembered that I need to clean the counter and spent twenty minutes cleaning the bathroom and went to get a snack and then at five I said, "OH! FUCK!" and had to scramble to dress like a real adult and get out the door.

It isn't one clean forgetting. It's a constant process of forgetting and then, with an exhausting adrenaline spike, remembering. And then forgetting. Baby, I can forget the same thing more times in a day than you ever forgot your parents' anniversary.

Happy pride month specifically to folks on the asexual and aromantic spectrum who oftentimes feel isolated and left out of the conversation. You belong here as much as the rest of us and I hope that you are all loved in a way that is comforting to you.

Since it’s Pride I do want to say how much I appreciate Veilguard not just for representation for queer players but how it reshaped Thedas to be more explicitly queer. Having the Shadow Dragons have an understanding of trans and non-binary characters is amazing given how often it’s queer and BIPOC people enacting real change. Having Maevaris or Dorian become archon means so much. Having Taash be tied so closely to the narrative you can’t complete the main quest without them matters. Having multiple queer BIPOC characters and companions means a lot to me on a personal level. Letting those characters act like real people, the good and the bad rather than tokenizing them is so important. Letting Rook confirm their queerness out loud at multiple points is amazing. It’s not like other games where you can blink and miss it with the queerness, nor can you get rid of queer companions like in pervious games. They didn’t just add pronouns to check a box they made it part of the player character. It’s in your face and an intrinsic part of the story. You cannot ignore these characters and get the better endings like you can in previous games.

Queer stories written by queer people are so crucial and I cannot celebrate this aspect of Veilguard enough.

My favorite part about the moment that Taash says they can smell Neverook because they're Adaari is that, at first, Neve's voice falters: "That's... interesting," she says, and you can hear her brain going shit. what am I giving away? How much does Rook know? how much does everyone else know?

Rook, meanwhile, is delighted: "Thanks, Taash!"

And then, "On both of you."

And the relief in Neve's voice is PALPABLE, like she truly thought she was a hopeless lovelorn sap by herself 😭😭💕💕 and her voice goes up several notches as she repeats: "THAT'S interesting!"

And now Rook is embarrassed, which I find fascinating lol because haven't they been the initiator basically the whole time? But now THEY falter, and repeat: "...thanks, Taash."

It's not a hard dialogue to trigger but it's so full of complex emotion and also funnyyyy and I love it. 🥰
