the sf chronicle has a live fire map and the cal fire has live info on its twitter and an incident map on its website. if your county has a local alert system i’d recommend signing up for that as well! alert wildfire has fire cams all over the state if you want footage of fires near your location.

take pictures of belongings for insurance purposes! and just in case, get an evacuation bag ready. things that are in my bag:

change of clothes, underwear

pair of sturdy shoes with thick soles

flashlight + batteries

first aid kit (bandages, gauze, burn cream)

water and nonperishable food (three days)

medication + paper copies of prescription

important papers

toothbrush, toilet paper, hand sanitizer

smoke mask if possible (n95 at least)

phone, charged battery pack, phone cable

if you have a pet, a leash and three days worth of pet food
