            ah,   so   this   was   the   rookie   that   she’d   been   decorating   for.   days   ago,   all   of   that   seemed   like   something   that   she   should   do.   something   to   get   over   what   happened   back   in   july.   (   why   are   you   doing   that,   jill?   looks   like   the   world's   about   to   go   to   hell,   brad   had   asked   her.   because   he's   part   of   the   team,   she'd   respond   easily.   )   &   when   you'd   lost   the   team   members   she'd   had…   &   jill   felt   like   she   already   had   an   obligation   to   protect   the   rookie.   however,   a   laugh   leaves   her   lips   when   he   says   this   place   is   like   a   maze.   it's   true,   &   she'd   thought   it   was   ridiculous   when   she'd   learned   about   it,   but   now   she's   grateful.   it   might   just   be   what   gets   them   out   alive.   but   echos   of   a   roar   tell   her  that   a   certain   nemesis   is   still   on   her   ass.  ❝   yeah   ….   i   don't   need   that.   —   follow   me.   ❞   she   says,   her   voice   sharp.   but   then   her   features   soften.   ❝   i   –   i   was   the   one   who   made   your   welcome   sign,   ❞   she   admits.

it’s almost a miracle he thinks, to find another survivor. the entire police station had been overrun and only some sections of them had been safe for him to walk around without having to watch his back.   —    she is a S.T.A.R.S member and he is glad someone from the station made it out. “right. you’re the boss.“ technically, she was, considering she outrank him in this situation. roars around the building seem to spar more shivers from him than the zombies themselves. “you got one of those too?“ he asks out loud, knowing well there is one fedora wearing giant out there to get him for some reason. he follows her at her words and there is a surprise on the rookie. “did you?” something so mundane, he remembers seeing it hang up and high, welcome leon. even a fun little game for him had been made. all memories of a day that never came. “thanks. though the welcome party was a bit much if you ask me.” he points out, teasing.

            he   keeps   her   close,   &   claire's   shocked   by   it   for   a   minute,   but   she   soon   finds   herself   relaxing   against   him.   his   hand   moving   across   her   back   feels   nice.  feels…   human.  she   sighs   against   him,   her   body   slowly   coming   off   the   high   that   it   needed   to   take   down   all   the   things   she'd   seen.   ❝   —   i   feel   like   i've   known   you   my   whole   life,   ❞   claire   agrees,   a   smile   coming   to   her   face.   &   it   did.   leon   felt   like   someone   she   could   trust,   ever   since   he'd   declared   (   surrounded   by   zombies   closing   in   )   that   they’d   find   her   brother   &   that   they'd   make   it   out   alive.   he'd   kept   those   promises   too,   since   she's   currently   holding   onto   to   him   &   now   that   she   knows   chris   is   in   europe.                (   huh,   from   this   angle,   he's   even   prettier.   )   she   thinks   quietly   to   herself.   but   claire   can't   help   but   think   about   the   difference   between   leon   &   all   the   boys   she'd   ever   flirted   with.   most   boys   hated   that   she   didn't   need   to   be   saved,   but   leon…   well,   he   embraced   it.   ❝   i'll   keep   you   safe,   ❞   slips   out   of   her   mouth,   but   her   head   tilts   so   that   blue   eyes   can   meet   his.   then   she   thinks,   wow,   maybe   you   came   on   a   little   too   strong   there,   claire.   he   did   just   say   you   just   met.   ❝   —   after   all,   what   kind   of   nurse   would   i   be   if   i   didn’t?   ❞   she   teases.   

“yeah — I know the feelin’.“ perhaps it’s what surviving something traumatic and unique makes to you. though leon would like to think that eventually, perhaps if raccoon city hadn’t gone up infested with undead people and blown up, that if he had been a rookie cop and her just the sister of a colleague, they would’ve met. the former rookie (after everything, is he really just a rookie?), smiles briefly at her words.

how wrong was it for them to enjoy themselves and pretend this is just them flirting? as if they hadn’t survived horror and guts. sherry had been quick to point out of they were dating but they just brush it off. one hell of a date. yeah. they had no idea.“how can I say no to that, then?” leon points out, a grin spread upon his lips but he flinches briefly as he adjust himself better on the bed (he does make sure his grip on her doesn’t lessen, simply draggin’ her along). “I’ll behave.” he adds, though he isn’t sure anymore if he is teasing about the nurse commentary or something else. (he does linger in his touch, she isn’t a fool.)

“if I was called in, means shit has gone south. badly. again.“ and it seems to be a repeat of his last couple of years since raccoon city. special operation, undercover, going around the world fighting bio-terrorism. “how many more times will this happen until people take a hint?” but as long as someone from umbrella or any corporation tries to do anything, HE WILL BE THERE TO STOP THEM. blue steel gaze and pockets loaded with guns and ammo and he has one holstered up his hip.
