“Yea, I was the lead detective on some of your cases so we had quite a few run-ins…” he trailed off, leaving out the part about their almost date. He knew that trying to hard to jog someone’s memories could lead to some backfires, and he didn’t want to stress her too much. His eyes instantly flashed hope when she mentioned Aphrodite, looking to her with a wide smile. “That’s it, that’s a thing- our banter. When we first met on the island again I teased that you must be a daughter of Aphrodite because of how beautiful you are,” Luke spoke excitedly, so caught up in his excitement he didn’t realize the words coming from his mouth. His smile faltered as he realized she was still struggling to remember. Luke’s eyes went to the bouquet of flowers not far from them before returning to Kennedy, “Uh yea, those are from me. As soon as I heard you were in a coma I had them sent over. Figured you’d want to wake up to something beautiful after all the ugliness from the accident. Plus, I remembered those were your favorite flowers,” he admitted with a light blush, shrugging his shoulders as he realized the sentiment might be bordering on creepy since she didn’t remember him. “Sorry if it was weird of me to do that,” he added after a moment. He perked up some when she thanked him, his coy smile back on his lips. “Oh yea, sure, whatever helps you,” he spoke, taking a seat next to her bed. “Where should we start?”
“Damn. That must’ve been fun. We must’ve worked well together,” Kennedy commented, a smile creeping onto her face. Him trailing off made her curious. Was there something he was hiding from her? At times like these, being able to read people’s minds would be useful, but she knew better. Luke’s excitement caught her by surprise. The guy looked so mysterious when he wasn’t smiling. She would’ve never believed it if someone told her that he was a little goofy for a detective. “I never pegged you as someone straightforward with their pick-up lines,” she teased, raising a brow. “No, not at all. It’s sweet. Not a lot of people remember it,” she assured him. “Well, for starters, where I work? My sister informed me that I work as a prosecutor. She also mentioned that the police department and the prosecutor’s office was in the same building. I’m guessing you work there as well?”

Finn owed him, Noel told himself as he looked over at this woman that his brother was hurting all over again. His heart hurt for her as it had four years ago when the situation had first happened. It was why they had grown close, Noel finding the need to be there for someone who had known and loved Finn as much as he had just in the opposite way. “It’s 2020, Kennedy,” Noel spoke quietly, hearing the pain in her voice. “I’m sorry, Kenn, I can’t sit here and let you believe something if I can help it. I’ll call him right now, make him come here and own up to you what happened. I feel like that isn’t my place to explain because I’m still not sure I understand why even after four years. I just can’t sit here and play this game of pretend and cause it to hurt you more.”
Kennedy shook her head in disbelief. As much as she didn’t want to believe it, Noel wasn’t a liar. What would he gain if he did, she thought. Her ears tuned out the rest of his words and began to tingle. His voice sounded muffled as if she was underwater drowning to the bottom of the ocean. “This is a sick joke,” she muttered to herself as she ran her hands through her hair. This was sick indeed. Was it divorce? Did they even get married? If they didn’t, who broke it off? Her head started to hurt just thinking about what had happened between them. The more she thought of it, the more frustrated she got. She didn’t deserve this. She deserved to know what had happened. “Call him. Tell him we need to talk.”

Ulani stopped in her tracks. It was liked she walked in on a bad Filipino drama where the main character gets amnesia and forgets everyone to drastically change the plot. She looked back to the door before looking back at Kennedy, wondering if she was in a weird dream she couldn’t wake up from. “Are you being serious, right now? I mean, I never pegged you as someone having that kind of humor,” she trailed off as she slowly sat down on the foot of her bed. “But really, do have amnesia or something? Because in that case… Yes, I am Ulani, and I just want you to know that we’re married and have like, ten cats.”
Kennedy didn’t know how to answer her. She never thought she was the type of person to be speechless. Guess there was a first time for everything. “I mean I didn’t as well, but I woke up like this?” she answered with a shrug. Kennedy did have a sense of humor, but she only displayed it outside of work or during lunch breaks. She didn’t want to seem unprofessional especially when surrounded with associates and partners of the firm. She suppressed a laugh, impressed that the woman was able to come up with something at the drop of a hat. “Ah, I would have totally believed you if Luke didn’t give me a gist of who i worked with. Really loved the idea of ten cats.”

Astrid held out her arm to steady Kennedy as the woman stumbled about, an array of emotions flitting through her face. It was times like these when Astrid felt like she lost one of her crucial senses, like she was blind to the feelings of others. It was silly to think of it like that since everyone was pretty much the same way, but to have that ability all your life and suddenly lose it–all while being stuck in a sort of limbo between the dead and the living–was a little unnerving. She watched as her acquaintance looked at her like she was a stranger before recognition dawned back into her features. “You tell me,” she said, scrunching up her eyebrows in confusion. “For a second there, you didn’t recognize me, and kind of looked like you were drunk, and now here we are,” she said. “Do you think it had something to do with your physical body?”
Kennedy was grateful that Astrid helped her steady herself when she didn’t think her legs could. This was strange indeed. She had seen the others either go to the light or wake up in their body. None of them had this symptom before which made Kennedy wonder. Was this even normal for someone outside of their own body? “Something doesn’t feel right,” she muttered to herself as she felt a wave of panic wash over her in waves, making her dizzy, chilling her with fear, and drowning her in it. “Something doesn’t feel right. I-I think I should go back.” Kennedy started walking towards the door, but before her body fully phased through it, she turned back to look at Astrid, giving her a reassuring smile. “I’m sure it’s fine. Also, the pottery and wine thing — remind me, okay?” she requested before bolting out of the door to her room.

Viv tried to control her expression, although she was filled with confusion as her sister began retelling the last thing. “Finn?” Viv asked curiously for clarification. From what Viv remembered Kennedy telling her, her and Finn were definitely over, so the fact that she was asking for him now had her worried. Not to mention the fact that the last thing she remembered was driving instead of the attack. “No, he’s not right now. Ken, sweetie. Does the word Minotaur mean anything to you?” She asked, concern beginning to seep in.
Kennedy sighed deeply a mixture of relief and dejection. Relieved that Finn wasn’t going to see her in this state, but dejected that he wasn’t beside her. “Minotaur? It doesn’t. Since when did Minotaurs roam around Boston terrorizing demigods?” she muttered, pulling herself up to a sitting position. Athena had made her read all the books she could find on Greek history after finishing law school. With her memorization skills, she’d say she was well-versed in Greek mythology, whether myths or not.

It had been getting quite lonely when it was just Luke and her at the precinct. Of course, there were still the labtechs, other lawyers and cops. But they were the dream team, as much as Deacon kept telling her to stop calling them that. Icaria PD would have been nothing without them running the joint. When she heard that Kennedy was finally awake, she quickly finished up her work and headed straight to her room, not even bothering to knock. “Finally! Now, don’t you worry about a thing. Luke and I have been holding down the fort while you were gone. Everything’s just the way you left it; Deacon’ll be coming back to work next week right after his father’s wake, and Luke is still… well Luke. The precious puppy we all know and love,” she said dreamily as she sat on the foot of Kennedy’s bed. “How you feeling, babe?”
Kennedy looked up from her phone and smiled at the the woman who had just barged in the room. Finally a refreshing energy, she thought. She nodded as the the woman talked about Luke and the other people who Kennedy immediately assumed were her co-workers. Thank goodness Luke visited her and helped her remember her work life. Judging by the woman’s enthusiasm, this was Ulani. “I’m feeling much better actually. The doctor said I can go home tomorrow if everything’s okay today,” she said, letting out a nervous laugh. “I don’t actually remember a lot of things, specially where I work, but Luke came by and helped me refresh my memory. Just to be sure, you’re Ulani, right?” she asked.

“Happens all the time,” he teased with a smirk as he walked further into her hospital room. Luke listened to her words intently, his chipper smile turning into one of confusion as they processed. “Wait… so like, you don’t remember me? Or what happened to you?” he asked curiously. He knew that sometime hard enough impacts could cause amnesia, but it saddened him to hear that she’d been hurt that much for that affect to take. “Kens, it’s me, Luke! Luke Decker? You know… the pain in your ass from New York? We worked a couple cases together. We played flirt chicken for like ever!” he smiled, trying to to remember details of their past to jog her memory. “You really don’t remember, do you?”
As much as she wanted to, she couldn’t remember a single thing. It’s never like her to forget as one of her powers is the ability to remember information and never forget, whether she read it during her high school years or heard it on the radio when her dad dropped her off for school. “We worked on a cases? I’ve was just in New York a month ago, and I don’t remember meeting you. I would’ve remembered you if I did. But if I did, I’m impressed with myself. Aphrodite blessed you with good looks. Aphrodite right? That would explain so much ”, Kennedy commented. As soon as she finished what she said, she immediately felt a sense of déjà vu. There was no doubt in her mind that she would’ve flirted with him. She wasn’t going to lie. Good looking men did roam the streets of New York, but she already had a good looking man. “Wait, did you say your name was Luke? Those flowers are from you, then?” she asked, pointing to a bouquet of flowers on the table near the window. “They’re beautiful. Thank you,” she thanked him before clearing her throat. “If you’re not busy, would you mind helping me remember more? i could really use the extra information. ”

Noel hoped that her injuries ended up not being as serious as it sounded that they might have been. It was bad enough that he himself had died let alone adding anyone else that he cared about on that list. So far, he hadn’t added too any people to his seriously injured list. “Uh, Kennedy,” Noel started carefully after hearing her own confusion. There was no way that this could be anything but head trauma. How does one tell a girl that the worst thing that could have happened to her did in fact happen when she couldn’t remember it? This was Finn’s mess and once again Noel was cleaning up after him. “Kennedy, what year do you think it is?” Noel asked carefully and quietly, wanting not to hurt her right away but kind of explain it as nicely as he could. “Because, uh, you and Finn are no longer together. You haven’t been for years.”
“2016. I’m wrong aren’t I?” she asked hesitantly. Kennedy shook her head, not wanting to believe what he had just said. Yes, she had doubts on whether Finn was actually serious about her. She knew that Finn was someone she’d want to spend the rest of her life with, but Kennedy didn’t know if Finn felt the same. However, the doubts vanished when Finn proposed to her. Marriage had not come up in their conversations. It was sudden, but she believe in their relationship despite her mother’s dissatisfaction. “That’s not true. That’s not possible. You’re joking, right? You have to be. Noel, tell me that that’s not true,” Kennedy cried. Her heart dropped when she looked down on her left hand saw that there was no ring on her finger.

There was definitely off with this scenario. Not only did Kennedy seem surprised to see him but also was asking about Finn? He also wasn’t sure how to answer her question about her parents knowing whether or not she was here. “Oh, uh, Minotaur attack. Kind of killed me, it’s a long story. I’m alright though. What happened to you?” As he was still unpacking the Finn question, Noel still couldn’t figure out what was exactly wrong with her. “Uh, he’s fine? Just a concussion, I think. I finally got the doctors to kick him out of the hospital so he’d go home. So, I’m pretty sure he’s at home. Uh, can I ask why you’re so concerned about him? I mean, he said your last encounter went pretty badly. Not that I blame you, 100% on your side on this one.”
Kennedy stared at him waiting for a smile, Noel seemed dead serious about this minotaur attack. “I don’t exactly know how to explain this, but I don’t remember anything. They said they found me on the ground... at the park? Broken ribs and a punctured lung. A possible head injury,” she told him, repeating the words said by the doctor verbatim. “But honestly I feel fine now. A little sore, but just fine,” she added. Her worries washed away when Noel assured her of Finn’s safety. But a question popped in her head: Since when did Finn and her move to this place? “That’s a little weird of you to ask, Noel. Why wouldn’t I be concerned of my fiancé?” Kennedy rolled her eyes and sighed. She knew Finn was open to his brother about their relationship, but she didn’t think he’d be that open. “Wow, he told you?! That son of a — First of all, thank you for understanding. Just ‘cause I rejected his offer of morning sex does not mean I don’t love him. As I said to him, I had a very important meeting that day that I simply couldn’t afford to be late. But if he wants to act like a baby, then so be it.”

♕ ASTRID ♕
Learning new skills was always something Astrid was up for, and she believed it was a great way to get to know someone as well. Pottery something she had been meaning to try out but never got the chance to, and she was glad she and Kennedy got to talking about it. She had wondered what the sweetest person in the whole world was doing in the justice system, but having worked with her on a few cases and having her thoroughly explain to her what she had to do and how she was going to do it, she could easily see how capable she was. Kennedy was a badass in the courtroom when she needed to be, and she was completely different when it came to talking to her outside of it. Astrid was amazed at how she could be so kind and sweet in person, while also being clever, witty and graceful as she talked to the judge and the jury. Her brows crinkled in confusion at the sudden mood change. “Kennedy? Are you alright?”
Kennedy took a step back from the stranger, stumbled, but she regained balance. Her body felt like it was on an endless roller coaster rise. It didn’t make sense to her. She looked around and noted that she was in a hospital room. The last time she went to the hospital was a month ago. She didn’t remember planning to go to the hospital or even driving to one. She turned to the person standing beside her and put on her court room face ready to interrogate the stranger. As she was about to ask her questions, the pain came back stronger. Her ears rang and her head felt like it had been split open. The pain didn’t go away quickly this time though. When it did, Kennedy looked up to a concerned Astrid. The worry on the woman’s face told her that something had just happened to her. “I’m fine,” she assured her. She took a few more seconds to catch her breathe. “What the hell was that?”

Tadpole Galaxy
Tadpole Galaxy: Would you deny a relationship/friendship?
People are going to go crazy on my answer, but I would deny a relationship. I can deny someone who’d want to have a relationship with me and vice versa. Here’s why. If I for some reason feel uncomfortable or I just feel like something isn’t right, then why would I force myself into that situation? It’s the same thing vice versa. If I wanted to be friends with a person or if I wanted to be romantically involved with someone and they don’t feel the same way, I’m not going to force them. They can deny the friendship or relationship that I’d offer. Yes, i’d be sad, but I understand where they’re coming from. Therefore, would I deny a relationship or friendship, yes.
