Are we being serious? This server isn’t uniquely dangerous.
Glorifying mental health issues just for having a role select where you can disclose what you may have? Throwing around these accusations is disguising and disgraceful.
You don’t have to join, but this callout is unwarranted.
Don't join!
Tumblr media
I can't believe this has to be the first thing I post on the blog and this is in no way to send someone hate but
Do NOT join this server. This server glorifies mental illnesses to the point where they have the ability to assign yourself a role specified by your mental illness. Not only is this harmful, but it makes it easier for predators to take advantage of an already very vulnerable group people should they choose to do so.
They allow minors to join the server- this isnt an issue in and of itself, however the only protection there is for minors is a role that says "minor" or ">18". This doesn't prevent you from assigning yourself the NSFW roles and you can actually change it yourself at any time. They openly speak about NSFW topics in the general chat and one of the mods has the role of "piss princess" (alluding to their love of watersports) which minors have access to see.
The server owner/mods have posted in the adult channel (woohoo the adult channel /s) that they were going to off themselves or that they have self harmed and have gone into way too much detail for it to not be censored. There was a user who stated that they might need to go back to therapy and another user told them that they shouldn't let other people tell them they're sick.
They openly allow the usage of slurs "as long as you're part of that community" even though all roles are self assigned and you cannot prove that they are/are not who they say they are.
This server has been watched like a hawk and what I've learned about it is that the people who run it do not care about the health and safety of all in the server.

People hope for Minoan fashion to make a comeback.
It won't happen until people stop acting weird when they see boobs.

No, it's exactly what's being said that is upsetting people. The fact that you carry such a high and mighty attitude while thinking you are somehow smarter than anyone who has an issue with this is so laughable. You have been trapped in your own bubble for so long, you think you are somehow more literate than others, and believe your prose and writing style are more refined. Let's be honest, It's really not. Your original post was the most purple prose, Tumblr-esque, nonsensical thing I've seen in a while. Also, lay off using 'cathartic' for a while.
i don’t understand how we are saying “it’s not misogyny it’s fanfiction” it’s not the fanfiction part that i. it’s the way that seeing “woman” makes you exclusively speak on (in the post anyway) pussy, aprons, mommy, submission, and having a “gender crisis via dick”? making him lactate etc. i think op’s whole point is that that’s not what being a woman is, or exclusively is. i think when you’re saying it you’re using “to me” to refer to “womanhood” —i’m getting this from your ask about butler. you seem to be saying he’s a woman and to me in fic here’s what i view as “woman,” like putting “him” in tropes that are related to womanhood, whereas a lot of people i think are saying he’s a woman to me and op is saying well what’s a woman to you? and why? clearly you’ve thought about what it means, and so i’m not sure why you felt the need to jump on that post, if, as you say, you Have thought about it and choose to portray him that way. but also i guess … why is that what a woman is to you. why is it that when people say he’s a woman to me they don’t actually mean that and they in fact mean he’s [insert historically patriarchal trope about womanhood here]. just because there’s a history of queer people doing that doesn’t mean it’s not offensive. like go off in fic but also if you are using fic as an outlet for anti colonial rage i guess it’s like. why is it satisfying to do that. what about putting a man in a woman’s position in fic makes you feel like you’re getting retribution. to me it feels like, we are doing the mean thing but because it’s for catharsis against actual ble shit that makes it okay. but i don’t think it should because i think , for instance, using the wrong name or pronouns for a republican to get back at them for not respecting the same in the case of trans people is sort of backwards. like yeah im making him lactate out of spite is ??? why is that successful as a way to own them? like it still recapitulates dominant colonial ideas about weakness and power, and the weakness in question is still associated with femininity.
okay, first of all: thank you. this is one of the few asks i’ve gotten that actually engages instead of just lobbing slurs or weaponized illiteracy at me, and i really appreciate that.
that said, i think there’s a bit of a misreading here, both of my post and of the broader dynamic around it.
when i said “he’s a woman to me,” i wasn’t saying “womanhood equals apron, pussy, lactation, submission.” i was saying some people project that onto a character and then others get mad—not because of what’s being said, but because it unsettles them. and that’s what’s interesting.
the original post wasn’t “woman = mommy kink.” it was pointing at the way fan projection uses gender as a vector for symbolic roleplay—sometimes in ways that are messy, or ugly, or exaggerated. the dissonance people felt came from how intensely that clashed with their own assumptions of what a character should be, or what “womanhood” should mean. i do think people get disproportionately angry when traditionally masculine characters are feminized in sexual or domestic ways—and that anger, to me, is more revealing than the trope itself.
do i think womanhood = submission or lactation? no. do i think it’s interesting that those symbols still hold a charge? yes. and that’s where theory comes in: these aren’t neutral images. they’re loaded because culture made them loaded. so when someone says “this male character is a woman to me,” and explores that via symbolic markers of femininity (domesticity, bodily vulnerability, motherhood), it doesn’t automatically mean they’re reducing womanhood. it can also be a way of mapping power, loss, softness, rage—all through gendered language.
when i say it’s “not misogyny, it’s fanfiction,” i don’t mean “therefore unworthy of critique.” i mean that some of the critiques have come from a place of knee-jerk offense rather than actual analysis. people aren’t asking “why is this trope appealing?” they’re just assuming the use of it is inherently misogynistic. i don’t agree. i think it’s complicated. sometimes it is misogynistic. sometimes it’s projection. sometimes it’s both. but flattening all exploration of gendered embodiment into “you hate women” doesn’t help us understand why these tropes persist—or what function they serve for the people who write them.
so to your last point: yes, “making him lactate out of spite” can seem absurd. that’s literally part of the joke. but also, i think people underestimate how much fic—and especially kinky or grotesque fic—functions as a pressure valve for people trying to work through the power structures they were handed. if someone fantasizes about inverting a system by humiliating the kind of person who benefited from it, that doesn’t mean they believe humiliation = womanhood. it means they’re playing with cultural signs, sometimes violently, sometimes absurdly, sometimes both.
i don’t think that’s always ethically sound. but i also don’t think it’s reducible to “you’re just reinforcing patriarchy.” like most things in fandom, it’s messier than that. and worth sitting with, not just slapping a label on and walking away.
so: thanks again for asking. i hope this clarifies where i’m coming from.
