"My name is Din."
You were shocked "Why are you telling me?"
"You've proven yourself worthy of knowing it." He pulls back moving his hand from your nape down to your shoulder “Now what is your home planet?”
“Aurorao, it’s in the mid rim, a few hours away.” He turns and sits back into the pilots chair, setting the nav system to your home planet, he was really going through with it. You walked behind him and set the child in his lap, then wrapped your arms around his shoulders, hugging him from behind. “Thank you, Din.” You could feel him flinch then relax in your hold, how long has it been since someone said his name?
“You should get some rest, you can take the kid with you to the bunk.”
You nodded and took the kid off his dads lap, taking him down into the hull and setting him on the mattress of the bunk, you turn off the lights and climb in with him. It was comforting, it smelled like Din, his musk coated the surfaces in the small chamber. The kid crawled into your arms, holding your shirt in his clawed hand, you pet his fuzzy head and started to drift off in the darkness.
You stood in thick layers of snow, shielding your eyes from the blizzard swirling around you, the snowflakes were catching in your eyelashes and hair as you looked around frantically. Bodies laid out, blood soaking into the snow, turning it red. The powder at your feet parted as you ran through it, you didn’t know where you were going but no matter how far you went the bodies didn’t disappear. Your chest burned and your throat was nearly freezing from the frigid air, your boot caught on a stay arm tripping you, causing you to tumble into the plush ground. You raised your head and saw Mando stood in the blizzard, his helmet was removed and his armor broken, a shadow appeared from behind him and impaled him on their spear.
You sprung up panting heavily and drenched in sweat, your chest was tight and your vision was blurry. You held your chest feeling your rapid heartbeat, the kid looked up at you confused, patting your arm. Hurt? "No no, I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you sugar. Go back to sleep." You tucked him back in, opening the door to the bunk and feeling your way to the ladder. You climbed to the cockpit, Din was still sat in his chair, watching as the stars went by. "How close are we?"
"Almost there, should we send a communication?"
"No, if I know them, they already know I'm on my way."
"How can you be sure?"
You leaned your back against the controls, still facing him "My mother, she has these visions, sometimes they're dreams other times they're triggered by a certain word or action. But all her predictions have been right, I'm sure she's seen my arrival back home, amongst other things." Mando hums in acknowledgement "I should also warn you my people are kind but some can be a bit…" you tried to think of the right word "domineering I suppose. They enjoy throwing their weight around, but not all are like that."
"I can guarantee, I've met worse." You chuckle and kick his leg grabbing his attention from the windshield.
"I can take over if you want, you need rest, and the kid needs a cuddle buddy." Mando stands looming over you.
"Thought you said you were a better cuddler."
You gently pushed his chest giggling under your breath "Hush, go get some sleep, you’re gonna need it." You heard the smile on his face, and for the first time you wondered what he looked like under the helmet. What color was his hair? What color were his eyes? Did he have facial hair? The door slid open and closed as he exited the cockpit and you sat in the pilot's chair, watching the streaking stars pass you.
Eventually the Razor Crest exited hyperspace not far from your planet, its surface was mostly white, the rivers and oceans that ran across it the only change in color besides the few areas that were littered with greenery. Your planet was by far one of the most beautiful in your opinion, it was elegant yet deadly for those who weren’t taught how to survive in her climate. It was hard to forget the way the ground would glow with the moon's light, how bright and alluring it was when the wind carried away stray snowflakes like ribbons. As a child your father would take you and your older brother to play with the other children, you remembered how your brother would defend you when you got pelted with snowballs, he nearly beat up the kids that did it before your father stopped him. You still remember what he said that day, you wish you took it to heart sooner. ‘To those who lose patience, lose the battle, son.’
Your home village was a bit old school, there weren’t any landing areas, not just because of the weather but also because of the lack of visitors. The only people that came to your planet were there to hunt rare species that lived there. The Crest entered the atmosphere with little effort, you landed the ship a ways from the village not wanting to disturb the people, you saw the lit torches lining the main road as you landed. You unfastened from the pilots seat and exited the cockpit, climbing down the ladder you found Din talking with the child. “Alright, let’s get bundled up.” You grab your cloak, wrapping it around yourself. “Is there something he can be wrapped in?”
“Only this.” He holds up an extra blanket folding it, you help him wrap up the kid, making a little hood so his ears don't get cold. In the distance you heard the warm sound of a horn, calling to you. “What was that?”
“Let’s go.” Mando opened the ramp to the Crest and walked next to you into the crystalline powder. You could tell it was a struggle for him to get through the thick snow while you glided through it, it was like second nature, you waited for him snickering. “Having some trouble?” He grumbled and cursed under his breath, when he got close enough you wrapped your arm around his bicep, pulling him with you. “It’ll be worth it.”
As you got closer to the village, the sound of your people grew with every step you took, the instrument wined creating a wooly tone that was drawn out and punctuated with a loud crack, the drums followed with their resonant and dry sound, this welcoming always gave you goosebumps. The low bello of the men followed, their vocalizations echoed through the town and surrounding areas as they harmonized, it made your chest swell with pride knowing this is where you came from, that these were your people. They continued their welcoming as they followed you through the village, the houses weren’t made of metal like most planets, rather they were made with stone and wood for insulation, at the end of the road laid a fortified structure. You noticed Mandos' visor scanning the crowd growing around the three of you, the children of the village ran excitedly next to you, taking your hand and leading you in front of him. Your smile grew as they walked you up the expanse of stairs leading to your home, Mando followed, holding the child close to him as he climbed the stairs after you. Several figures stood at the peak of the stairs waiting for you, immediately you picked out one figure that stood out “Mother…” You ran into her embrace, burying your face into her as tears formed in your eyes, after a moment she pulled you back cupping your cheeks with your hands covering hers.
“My beautiful girl, you’ve finally come home.”
You slowly take her hands off your cheeks as Din approaches “I’m afraid it’s not for a happy reason, mother.” the child coos in his arms looking at the new people. “We need to speak with you and dad.” Your mother stands aside gesturing for you two to enter through the large doors.
“Of course, let us eat!” Her gentle hands urge you and Din forward into the fortress, more people make their way through the large corridor, you could sense his unease. You look down to his hand that's been clenched into a fist, you take his gloved hand in yours offering a warm smile when he looks at you.
“Don’t worry about them, I know it’s loud, but just stay close to me.” You lead Din through the mental map you had of the large structure, heading for the dining hall “I know you want to get the kid back to his people as soon as you can so I’ll try to be quick.” He halted his movements, pulling you back with him, you looked up at his T-shaped visor.
“Your people are important too.” The child cooed in his other arm, your eyes traveling to him. Yes. “What you saw on Nevarro, your people should be told, but not with haste.” You squeezed his hand.
“Thank you.” You continued leading the Mandalorian through your home, entering the dining hall, a feast was already prepared. An assortment of meats, vegetables, fruit and other edible goods laid out on the massive dining table, the kid was gonna have a field day. You heard your name called from across the table, you looked up to see your father at the head of the table, quickly you bobbed and weaved your way through the crowd with Din still trailing you. Your father stood to greet you, the strain was clear on his face as you made it close enough to him “Dad, please, sit.” you held his arm and side to steady him as he sat. The injuries he sustained still affected him, your heart ached with guilt.
“I thought I taught you better! Introduce our guest!” His voice resonated drawing everyone’s attention to you, holding your breath for a moment before doing as he said.
“A Mandalorian, and his son are guests to us! So please, treat them with hospitality!” It was the loudest you’d spoken in a while, you had no need to use this tone in the medcenter and even when you had to yell it never echoed in your chest like it did now. “It’s good to be back! So let us eat!” The people cheered and raised their glasses to you and your name echoed and faded into their respected conversations. “How are you feeling dad?” He laughed and drew you closer into his embrace.
“My heart is strong, and I’m breathing, that’s all I need.” You giggled hugging him, he was still the same man you left here all those years ago. “Now tell me Mandalorian,” you pulled out of your fathers embrace as Mando stepped forward “where is your boy?” The child turned in his arms starring your father down with his large black eyes, like he did to you the first time you met. Your dad offered his hand to him and the child laughed and grabbed his finger, Mando set the kid on the ground and he waddled to where your father was sitting. He was scooped up in his arms and your dad let out a laugh “A strange thing aren't ya?” The child started reaching for the flood across from him “And a hungry one! We might as well be twins, you and me!” Your father grabbed a plate of food and gave it to the child, then looked to you two “Sit! Eat!” You sat in the chair next to your fathers and Mando did the same next to you. The child was already stuffing his face full of meat from his plate.
“I need to have a talk with you and mother, it’s urgent.”
“You know I don’t bring business to the dinner table, sugar.”
“Dad, please, it’s about what happened to our people.”
You tried to speak further but an eerie feeling overtook you, and your head whipped to look past Mando, a man was marching his way closer to your group he seemed to be focused solely on you. Was it who you thought it was? “If it isn’t the little princess!” oh shit it is.
“Not now Hadryl.” You turned back to your dad, trying to talk over the man standing behind you.
“Is that how you treat your only cousin? And in front of company!” He grabs your shoulder shaking it roughly “I feel bad. What did the Mandalorian do to deserve you huh?” You brushed his hand off glaring at him.
"I don't have time for your games."
Mando was about to intervene before another man stepped in pushing Hadryl aside, it was your older brother. "You heard her, back off." The man raised his hands in defeat with a mischievous grin on his face. Hadryl walked away, a few other men followed close behind him as he exited the dining hall. Your brother turned to you, patting your head "It's good to see you." you smiled, always so protective.
"You as well, brother, thank you. Now father…" When you turned to talk to your dad there was an empty chair, you and Mando shot up at out your seats almost in sync. "Where did he go?" Your brother pointed to the exit to the dining hall where your mother just walked out of, you quickly walked to the doorway with Mando on your tail, looking left and right you saw your mother exiting to the bailey of the fortress. You tugged him along with you and when you made it to the exit you saw your father sitting in the snow watching the child play, and your mother walking over to join them. The child was spreading the powder out with his arms making snow angels as you and Mando walked over to them. It was still dark out but the moon illuminated the snow acting as a reflector making it brighter than it was. "Dad, you can't just take him."
"He was so excited I thought I otta take him out here, this is where I'd take you and your brother after all." You squatted down in front of the child.
"I know what happened to them." Your parents looked up as you hung your head, you didn't want to cry it would be a selfish thing to do "I saw them…where I was on Navarro, they weren't held as prisoners." The child waddled and stumbled over to you, and Mando finished what you were going to say.
"They were lab rats. So was the little one." You picked up the kid dusting his robes off "They were using the kid's blood on your people, we still aren't sure why." Your mother calls your name.
"Is this true?" Tears swell in your eyes and you nod, unable to form a proper answer with your words. Your father stands with your mother's help, your eyes don't leave the ground as he walks over to you, you could hear the crunch of his feet coming closer. He placed his hand on your shoulder.
"I think we all need time to process this, we'll talk in the morning." His hand leaves you and you stay where you were, as he walks away, passing Mando "She'll show you to your room." With that both your parents have left the bailey, you wipe your eyes with your sleeve and turn to face him. The child coos Sad? You rub your fingers over his cold ears.
"I'll be alright bud, you need to get warm. Follow me." You pass Mando and he follows you like you said, you walk back inside and up more stairs and through another massive wing of the fortress, you opened the door to a bedroom and walked in. "This was my old bedroom, it has an adjoining room with a bed you and the kid can sleep on, I think I need a while to myself." Mando walks over to you and gently takes the kid, he hangs onto you by your cloak, dragging you closer to Mando. "You need some rest sugar, I'll see you in the morning." You kiss his head and he lets go of the cloak.
"Take your time."
You stood on the balcony of your room admiring the white mountains of your planet, the sound and feel of the cold wind always calmed you. Slow steps came up behind you, and familiar hands sat on your hips. "A princess huh?"
"I'm not a princess."
"Chief's daughters is close enough."
You sighed leaning back into his chest moving your hands to hold his at your hips.
"How's your back?" You tilt your head up and to the side to see his helmet next to your head.
"The wind helps, it's not as bad as it was." You pat his hands and pull away, opening and closing the door as you drag him back into your room.
"I have bacta here in the bathroom, you know the drill." You walk away leaving him by the bed to look through your bathroom to find the medicine you knew you had. After a minute of scrambling you found the small bottle you kept for emergencies, you head out of your bathroom to see Din removing his shirt, although still covered by your bandages, you watched the muscles contract against the skin of his broad back in awe. He turned and you continued walking closer to him, his stature was intimidating when you first met and still is, but now it's more of a protective feeling. You went behind him and started spraying his wide back, the cool mist made him flinch. Once you got the expanse of his back you walked back in front of him and pointed to the bed, "Sit, please." He sat on the edge, you continued spraying his shoulders as you stood between his legs, you lifted his arm to spray his bicep repeating that with the other, his hand brushing over the swell of your ass. He flinched and you stepped further into his spread legs, his helmet tilting up to meet your eyes. "Why are you so nervous?" You teased.
"I'm not nervous."
Humming you set the bottle aside and slid your hands down his bare arms, down over his hands placing them on your hips. Your hands travel back up his arms, leaving goosebumps in their wake, your hands find perch on his shoulders near his neck. He gets more confident with your movements, moving his large hands down your legs to hold the back of your plush thighs.
"What do you want, princess?" His deep modulated voice, mixed with the title, sends a shiver down your spine. He feels this. "You like it when I call you princess?" At this point your face and ears were painted red with embarrassment, shit he might think you're weird for liking that name! His sudden movement snapped you into reality, you nearly fell on him when he laid back onto the mattress and hoisted you into his lap. Your hand flew next to his helmet landing on the mattress to stop your head from hitting his metal one, it took you a second to process the position you were in now. You were straddling Din with your face inches away from his helmet, one hand near his head and the other was pressed against his bare chest, both his hands were still held around your thighs. "I could feel you staring." His big hands slid up and over your wide hips, to your waist and back down, it was your turn to get goosebumps. "Do you like what you see?" You sat up placing both hands on his muscled torso, your thighs spread wider so you could sit comfortably.
"Din…" You felt something twitch where you were sitting, was he getting hard from you saying his name? You moved your hips once, grinding into his growing erection, his helmet tilted back and a low groan came from him. The sound that came from him sent shockwaves to your core, you wanted to hear more "Din." His hands grabbed your hips and drug them down over the tent in his pants, the imprint of him rubbed over your clothed sex, you could feel yourself getting soaked. As you leaned down pressing your full chest to his, Dins hands moved from your thighs to your ass, you let out a moan right next to his helmet and you felt him strain in his pants as he continued grinding your hips into his. His helmet cooled your flush face.
“That’s it princess…”  Another moan came from you and your hands moved up to his shoulders, you raised your head to look down at his visor, the metal reflected the moon's glow. You sat up off him again and crawled off the bed, he groaned in disapproval.
"I'm only closing the curtains, Din." You walk over to the balcony door and shut the large curtains, sending the entire room into darkness. A hiss and clank rang through the room but you couldn’t find the source of it, you started walking back to the bed but were interrupted by Dins hands grabbing under your thighs again, spreading them apart and lifting you up. He pressed you against the wooden boards of the wall behind you and his warm lips made contact with your neck, you gasped and held his shoulders, clawing at his back and wrapping your legs around his waist. “Wait I thought-” He pressed his hips further into yours as he worked at your neck, there was sure to be a bruise in the morning. His unmodulated voice was different, rough and deep, and a bit raspy from your activities.
“You can’t see me can you?”
“No, but-” He rolled his hips into yours again making your words die in your throat.
“Can I touch your hair?” He pulled away for a moment to answer.
“Please, mesh’la.” Your hands tangle in his curly mop of hair, gently tugging on the strands when he goes back to your neck, your hips buck into his as one of his hands moves from your thigh up under your shirt. His calloused hand travels up your generous curves to your breasts, giving one a firm squeeze over your bra, you moan his name into his ear and swear you heard a growl come from the man as he ruts his hips into yours. You scratch your nails against his scalp and continue moaning into his ear when he rolls his hips just right rubbing against your wet heat. “You like that sweet girl?”
The door creaked open and Din nearly dropped you but you were quick, landing on your feet you closed your eyes and tossed the long curtain next to you over him. Your mother stood confused at the door, holding plates piled with food in her arms. “S-sorry! He can’t show his face to you, I was treating an old injury for him.” you rushed over to her taking the plates, with Din still standing under the curtains.
“I never saw you two eat so I thought, you wouldn’t want to go to bed hungry.”
“Yes! Thank you, mother, I’ll give this to him.”
“Goodnight then.”
“Goodnight~” You closed the door and sighed heavily, that was too close for comfort. “I’m not looking, you can come out.” You could hear him step out from under the curtains and walk across the floor to his helmet, he put it back on with a click and walked over to you. As he moved around you his hand laid on your waist, taking one of the plates from you.
“I’m sure the kid’s hungry again by now.” You chuckle and nod knowing he’s wanting to go find another snack, dead or alive it didn’t matter. Dins hand went up behind your neck, drawing you closer to him, and pressing your forehead against his helmet. “I’ll see you in the morning, mesh’la.” His words still had an effect on you causing your face to rise in temperature. He pulled away and walked into the adjoining room and closed the door, your stomach rumbled, man you were hungry. You ate and watched the weather change outside from a calm night into a raging blizzard, before you could make out the village homes but now it was only a foggy white. You set the plate near the door and got ready for bed, deciding to change your clothes and take off your shoes while you were here. When you tucked yourself into bed you could still smell Din on the sheets, you wished he could’ve slept here with you, with the kid.
Your eyes snapped open at the sound of yelling outside your door, when did you fall asleep? You threw the covers off and ran barefoot out of your room, from the lofted hallway you could see Hadryl and a suit of armor standing toe to toe as the crowd roared for them to fight. You can’t leave him alone for a second! You shoved your boots on and grabbed your belt slinging it around your waist then rushing down the stairs you made your way to the crowd forming around them, it was hard to discern what started the commotion but it was definitely Hadryl’s doing. Eventually you made it into the clearing where Din and Hadryl were, you could vaguely hear their conversation now.
“Where’d she buy you from, huh? And that ugly little thing.” He tried poking at the child's head but Din caught his wrist, squeezing it tightly, the men that followed Hadryl started coming forward. You stepped next to Din and the crowd got quieter, “What do you use that thing for? It’s too ugly for its pelt.” Your spear extended and you jabbed the dull end into his stomach, he stumbled back holding where you hit him.
“You threaten the child's safety, you threaten your life.”

“And what does it mean?” Your hand travels down to his bicep and he catches it, making your gaze snap to his visor.
“Beautiful.”
Your face flushed and you cleared your throat pulling away from him “Flattery won't get you far with me.” At your burn station you prepare a wrap for his back, applying the lotion to a roll of gauze. You didn’t hear him stand from his seated position, and you nearly jumped out of your skin when you turned and he was in front of you.
“It’s true.”
The blush on your face was growing as he stared down at you, you averted your gaze from his visor drifting to his shirtless torso, the scars from previous battles littered his body. It was hard to take your eyes off his bronze skin, you nudged his arm “Turn.” He did and you began loosely wrapping the gaze over his burned back, this was a lot easier at the medcenter with extra help, by yourself you had to reach around him and walk in front of him. You tucked the end of the gauze into its folds and went back around to make sure it was loose enough. “Is it too tight?” His helmet tilted down, and rolled his shoulders forward and back, testing the wraps' security. "You should keep the armor off until we arrive, it'll give the antibiotics time to work." He slipped his shirt back on.
The ship was still malfunctioning, that mechanic on trask didn’t do a very good job of repairing the Crest, Mando had resorted to getting the kid to crawl into the ducks of the ship to try and rewire it. You could hear him talk the kid through it as you ascended the ladder, trying to explain it as simply as he could. “Now put the blue wire where the red wire was, and the red wire where the blue wire was. No! Keep them apart…”  the smell of smoke came through the air and you saw Mando leaded close to the duct the child was in, smoke coming out of it. “Are you okay?” You leaned over him to look inside, seeing the child all the way at the back, the wires Mando talked about still in his hands.
“Let's get you something to eat hun.” He crawled through the vents, it was the fastest you’ve actually seen him move. You picked him out of the vent and climbed down the ladder, Mando sighed and followed the two of you. Mando pulled up three crates in a circle as you prepared the soup for all of you to eat, the kid kept fighting to get out of your arms until you finally set him down with his little bowl of soup. You handed Mando his bowl and sat on one of the crates, sipping on the broth.
“We won’t make it to Corvus in this shape. We’ll have to pay some friends a visit.”
“Where are we going?”
“Back to Nevarro.”
“What? I thought you said it wasn’t safe.”
“A friend of mine has been working on fixing up Nevarro, Moff Gideon is dead, you will be safe there.”
“If you say so.” You heard the click and hiss of Mandos helmet as he drank the soup, you didn’t look at him choosing to look at the kid who already finished his soup. You passed him your serving, knowing he’d still be hungry after eating his.
Arriving on Nevarro you descended the ladder with the child, and walked beside Mando as the ramp malfunctioned and only set down halfway. Man that guy really ripped you off. You and Mando hopped off the ramp and were given a warm welcome from Mandos friends, a woman shock trooper and an older gentleman.
“Looks like someone could use some repairs.”
“How’s my credit around here?”
“Something can be arranged right Marshal?”
She reaches out, stroking the childs head and smiling. “We can work something out.”
“I’ll get my best people on it. Hey fellas, I want this ship to be as good as new!” He turns his attention back to you and the child. “And you! I don't believe we’ve been introduced!” He took the child from your arms as he spoke, you gave your name “I’ve heard of you! One of the best medics this planet had to offer! Greef Karga, please, follow me.” He talked with you and the child as you walked through the town with Mando and the shock trooper trailing. “Has Mando been taking good care of you, huh? Have you been taking’ good care of them?” You chuckle and the child coos. “Yeah? Look, he said Yeah!”
“Your ship’s not looking too good.”
“A run-in with the New Republic.”
“They should leave the Outer Rim alone. If the Empire couldn’t settle it, what makes them think they can? Here we are.” Karga stopped in front of a shabby looking building, something common on Nevarro. Mando steps next to you as the other two in your party walk in.
“I’m surprised this place is still standing.” The shock trooper turns around with a grin on her face.
“Just wait till you see inside.” You step in first then Mando, children were seated in neat rows as a droid taught them in front of a holo-board. They made this into a school? Karga sets the child in an empty seat close to the droid, Karga offered to leave the child there, you openly protest.
“Wherever he goes I go.”
“Please, where we are going is no place for a child. Trust me.” You looked at Mando confused, where were you going? The shock trooper placed her hand on your shoulder.
“He’ll be safe here, you have my word.” You sighed and followed Mando out of the school and to Kargas office, moving to the table with the shock trooper as the men talked to Kargas receptionist, he looked scared of Mando but who wasn’t.
“So you were a medic here?” You turned your head to meet her eyes, nodding your head.
“Yeah, it’s how I met the kid, and Mando. Tried to kill me to get to him.” The trooper laughs patting your shoulder.
“He did the same with me, I’m Cara. Alright, can we talk business?” The men joined you two at the table and a holograph of Nevarro appeared.
“We’re only here for repairs.”
“Which will take a while, which means you'll have time on your hands. And we could really use your help, both of you.”
“Help how?”
Cara waved over the hologram at a green area.“This is Nevarro, all of this is a safe area, but on the other side there’s a problem” it zooms into a photo of an old Imperial base. “It’s been there since the Imperial expansion, and once it’s gone the planet will be free.” Karga spoke up.
“There’s a lot of weaponry on that base the black market would love to get their hands on.”
“What are we looking at?” Mando leans against the table getting a better look at the holo-map.
“The whole base is powered by a reactor.”
“We sneak in, overload the reactor, and get the hell out.”
You hopped out of the speeder and tried to type on the control panel next to the front door. “It’s no use, the panel is melted. Imperial trash.” Karga and his assistant argued as he yelled at him to open the door, this guy was getting tiring “How long is this going to take?”
“Look lady, this is graded for light plumbing and such, you’re lucky I even brought it.” You were about to sock this whiny bastard in the jaw, but you were distracted by Mando jetting up into the sky. You stepped out to look where he landed, there was an open balcony, and you could hear him take down the troopers there. You heard the stormtrooper falling before you could see it, side stepping just before you could get hit by his body. Three pairs of eyes landed on you, then the body next to you, the door opened and you quickly stepped inside, the rest followed you.
As your group walked through the base, you noticed more stormtroopers than you had anticipated, having to hide behind the pillars in the hallways, you kept the blaster Mando lended you in your hand just in case. When you made it to the reactor you watched outside of the room for any stray troopers with Mando, what was taking so long? Finally the alarm went off, signaling the reactor overloading.
You ran with the group, there were only ten minutes to make it out before the reactor exploded, but you stopped in your tracks staring at the tanks on the wall. “I thought you said this was a forward operating base?” You didn’t speak while they bickered back and forth, you kept your gaze on the tanks. Cara’s voice was what called you to move
“No, this isn’t a military operation. This is a lab. We need to get into the system and figure out what’s going on.”
The assistant was about to walk to the station but you beat him to it, shoving your blaster in its holster and rapidly typing on the control panel, pulling up a pre recorded message as well as the lab subjects. You read through the log of the lab subjects names and home planets, your face went pale, and you looked up to the hologram only processing the last part of the message. “I will not disappoint you again, Moff Gideon.”
“This must be an old transmission. Moff Gideon is dead.”
“No.” Their eyes landed on you “This recording is three days old.”
“If Moff Gideon's alive then…” Mando was interrupted by stormtroopers shooting and yelling, you followed as the group sprinted down the hallway. “We need to get the kid.”
“Jet back, you'll be faster that way.” You followed Mando back to the reactor, he put his arm around your waist and under the bend in your knee and you wrapped your arms around his shoulders as he jetted upward, in any other situation you’d be blushing at this proximity. When he stopped at the top of the hole you jumped out of his arms shooting two stray troopers, he enclosed you in his hold once more as he took off to the town.
Mando dropped you off at the school and ran to the ship, you barged in apologizing for interrupting the lesson. You picked up the kid and ran out the door, where did he get another snack? The Crest was repaired and ready for take off when you got there, you climbed up the ramp, Mando took off as soon as it closed behind you. You strapped the kid into the co-pilot's seat with you, Mando shot out, speeding to defend his friends from the Ty-Fighters following them. He shot the one closest to the speeder then pulled up the controls, chasing the fighter that was climbing into the sky, the child in your lab threw his hands up, at least someone was having fun. When the fighter was shot down he cut the engines and turned midair, turning them back on at full speed hunting down the last one, you felt your stomach drop. Once the last Ty-Fighter was shot down Mando turned his head.
“Not too bad huh?” You didn’t get to respond, instead you god blue spit up on you “Oh boy.” you sighed and wiped his robes off with your sleeve. Karga came over the comms.
“That was some pretty impressive flying, Mando. What do I owe you?”
“With repairs lets call it even.”
“Can I at least buy you a drink?”
“Sorry we have some on board maintenance to take care of.”
“Good luck flying, my friend.”
Mando took the child from you and set him on the other co-pilot's chair. Your head was ducked, looking at your hands as they anxiously picked at the skin on your fingers, you mind kept thinking back to the lab and back to the names you saw as the test subjects. Moff Gideon was still alive, the child wasn’t safe, you weren’t safe. “You’re shaking.” Your head snapped up to see Mando had spun around in the pilot's seat, he leaned closer, setting his forearms on his thighs as he spoke. “What’s wrong?” You didn’t answer, afraid you’d start sobbing if you told him what was going through your head. His ungloved hand came to rest over yours, causing you to stop your nervous picking, when did he remove his gloves? His other hand came under your chin, lifting your tear filled eyes to meet his visor, he wiped your cheek with his thumb when one fell. “Talk to me.” More tears flowed down your cheeks, you couldn’t keep your voice strong and clear, instead it wavered with every word.
“The subjects in the lab… they were from my home, they were my people.” Your breath caught in a sob and you hung your head again as you continued “I recognized the names, they were taken years ago Mando, years!” You squeezed his hand “A-and I did nothing! I-I should’ve h-helped them!” He lifts your head again to look at him, hot tears streaming down your flushed cheeks.
He said your name “Breathe.” Your choked sobs slowly died into uneven breathing but your tears still fell onto the metal floor of the cockpit. His thumb rubbed circles on the top of your hand as you tried to steady yourself. “Tell me.” Your shoulders slouched as you exhaled.
“The empire.. Tried to invade my planet, but they could never make it past our defenses, and so they compromised.”
“Compromised?” You nodded
“They couldn’t get in, but they made sure we couldn’t get out in return. They would send troopers to stalk and wait, taking our people in the night.” Your hand balled into a fist as you continued “I was angry, I wanted to make them pay, but I was selfish, reckless in my tactics.”
“What do you mean?”
“I led my people into a battle they couldn’t win, they were lost to me, it was my fault more of them got taken and injured. That’s why I left my home, and came to Nevarro.” You averted your gaze. “I know it was a selfish decision, but now I know what happened to them, they deserve to know now. I need to go back.”
“Will you stay there?”
You looked back to him, and the child cooed Leave? “I’d never leave you to deal with the little womp rat by yourself.” you stood and picked up the kid “And I’d never leave you, little guy. I just need to tell them what happened.” Mando stood next to you “Will you take me home? Please Mando.” He moved slowly, putting his hand at the nape of your neck urging you forward, pressing his metal forehead to yours. Your face reddened but you didn’t move.
“Din.”
“What?”
“My name is Din.”

Chapter 10: Reuniting
Summary: You managed to make it to Trask and reunite the frog lady with her husband, but a lead on the Mandalorians nearly costs the childs life.

When the ship was ready for take off you held the child in your lap as the old Razor Crest came to life again, it was unsteady and unsafe, you were sure one of the thrusters would give out by the time you made it there.
You and the child were asleep, curled up in the co-pilot's chair when the nav system woke you up. Trask laid in front of you waiting for your arrival, forgetting how bad of shape the ship was in, it lurched and Mando let out a grunt.
"Landing array isn't responding, I'll have to land the Crest manually, it's gonna be rough." He flicks a few stitches on the console “Once we're through the atmosphere, there should be enough fuel to slow down. If we don’t burn to a crisp.” Mando pulled the controls back harshly pushing you further back into the seat, he yelled over the sounds of the ship “Come up here I need your hands!” You got up, putting the child in your place on the chair, and going to his side, holding one of the many levers back as he instructed you to do. It fought you trying to push forward but you held it in place firmly. A voice came over the coms in the ship.
“Razor Crest, this is Trask flight control. Please reduce your speed to port protocol.”
“I’m trying my best here! Engage reverse thrusters. Brace!” You spread your feet across the floor, widening your stance so you wouldn’t fall to the ground from the inertia of the ship coming to a sudden stop. The Razor Crest hovered above the landing pad, you and Mando sighed in unison “Here we go. Nice and easy.” Just as the words left the modulator, one of the thrusters gave out, sending the ship into the dark sea.
Your hands flew to the pilots backrest to keep your balance, one hand landed on Mandos shoulder, as you held onto him the weight of the Crest shifted. You were being pulled up by one of the cranes on the dock, once the ship was set back down on the landing pad you helped the frog lady up from where she had fallen. She was so happy to finally be here with her husband, she was so fast making her way out of the ship you nearly lost track of her, you watched as she reunited with him. You could tell how much love they had for one another, and their children. You didn’t notice you were smiling until Mando said something.
“Didn’t peg you as a romantic.”
“I’m really not.”
“Your smile says otherwise.”
He walked towards the couple and you followed, the child cooing next to you “I know you’re hungry, we’ll get you something sugar.” he grumbled at the thought of waiting, you pet his fuzzy head and made your way with Mando to the inn. As soon as you sat down the waiter poured stew in a bowl for the child, he picked up the spoon and poked at it, you took the spoon from him and fed him some of the broth. You turned when a sailor approached the table.
“Hmm, you seek others of your kind?”
“Have you seen them?”
“Aye. I can bring you to them.”
“Where?”
“Only a few hours’ sail. It’ll cost you, though.”
If you learned anything from your time on Navarro, it was to trust your gut, and it was telling you not to trust the fishermen, but your protests didn’t stop Mando from accepting the deal. “I’m telling you, they’re planning something.” Mandos visor tips down to meet your gaze, the child between you two on the barge.
“I don’t trust them either, but this is the best chance we have to find the Mandalorians.”
“I know that but this could be risking the kids' safety.”
One of the fishermen yelled over at Mando, asking if he wanted to watch them feed the mamacore, the grate opened in the middle of the ship. He walked over to the pit with the child, your unease was growing by the second, you looked to the other fishermen. They were all looking at Mando and the child, before you knew it they had pushed the child into the water, and he was swallowed by the mamacore. Mando followed him into the water “No!” you tried to run to him but you were blocked by the men you were suspicious of. Their pointed spears, aimed at your neck, that was a poor weapon choice. The grate was closed and Mando was trapped. You grabbed two just before the blade and pushed them apart, leaving you a clearing to get to Mando, whipping out your blaster and shooting one before it was flung into the ocean after a spear hit your hand. You pulled out your spear and hurled it into the back of one near the grate, and pulled it out of his corpse and jabbed it backwards into another one that  came up from behind. You heard Mando’s gasps, as they stabbed at him, you swept under their weapons sending them clattering to the ground. They charged but they didn’t make contact, instead they were met with blaster shots from the heavens, you looked up to see flying Mandalorians. With their distraction you ran to the control panel and opened the grate setting Mando free, a woman Mandalorian helped him out of the pit and sat him down. You rushed over to him, kneeling at his side, and turning his helmet to face you. “Are you alright? Did the mamacore hurt you?”
The woman Mandalorian dove into the pit to rescue the child, you could hear blaster shots ring out under the water before she resurfaced with the dented pram. You felt your heart clench thinking of the worst, before it was forcefully opened and the child was revealed to be unharmed. When he was handed back to your Mandalorian you could’ve cried right there, you reached up to rub across his scared face, you felt guilty you should’ve done something sooner should’ve convinced Mando.
“Thank you. I’ve been searching for more of our kind.”
“Well,lucky we found you first.”
“I was quested to deliver this child. I was hoping that” You looked up at Mando, wondering why he stopped talking,  then looking at the other Mandalorians, they had removed their helmets. He suddenly stood, “Where did you get that armor.” you stood as well placing your hand on his chestplate.
“Take it easy.” You spoke without anger
“This armor has been in my family for three generations.”
“You do not cover your face. You are not Mandalorian.”
“He’s one of them.” You looked to the blue Mandalorian confused, their supposed leader cursed under her breath.
“One of what?”
“I am Bo-Katan of clan Kryze. I was born on Mandalore and fought in the Purge. I am the last of my line. And you are a child of the Watch.”
“The Watch?”
The red head explained that Mando was from a religious extremist cult that wanted to re-establish the ancient way. Mando stood toe to toe with Bo-Katan.
“There is only one way. The way of the Mandalore.” Mando turned and led you away by your waist, then wrapped his arm tightly around you as he took off, you wrapped your arms around his shoulders as the Mandalorians faded into the fog.
Landing at the dock you removed your arms from him and stepped back, you both watched as the barge exploded in the distance.
“Do you wanna talk about what happened?”
“There’s nothing to talk about.” He started walking off, it was getting dark the only thing keeping the path lit was the street lights
“Mando.” He stops but it wasn’t from your voice it was from another, the fisher that tried to get the kid and Mando killed. More surrounded the three of you, you reached behind into your belt for your spear, but before you could pull it out they were on the ground. And the Mandalorians landed next to you.
“Can we at least buy you a drink?” Mando looked over to you and sighed, handing you the child. You walked with them to the same inn you were in before, sitting next to Mando with the child in your lap as they talked. Bo-Katan explained that Trask was a black market planet, selling the plunders of their home world Mandalore. And that they planned on seizing these weapons to retake their planet.
“Once we’ve done that, we’ll seat a new Mandalore on the throne.”
The child was whining up at you, he was tired and you didn’t blame him, he’s had a long day. You stood from the table, Mando already knew where you were going so there was no need to tell him. You knocked on the wooden door, it opened and the frog lady stood on the other side, excited to see you. She wrapped her arms around you in a tight hug, you giggled and hugged her back looking over her shoulder to the tank on the table. “How are they?” She takes your hand and leads you over to them, placing your hand on the tank, you squat down to get a better look. You can see the little tadpoles swimming in their embryos “They're beautiful.” she croaks at you putting her hands over her heart, she was so kind.
Mando came through the door not long after “Something came up, you’ll be staying here for just a bit. Is that okay?” He was asking the frog couple instead of asking you if you were okay with that. You stood and put on your best fake smile.
“Can I talk to you for a minute?” It was more of a command than a request. You pulled him out of the room, “What do you think you're doing?”
“I need to help Bo-Katan to find the other Jedi, she knows where they are.”
“You know I trust your judgment but last time you trusted someone you just met the kid almost died.”
“They’re different.”
“You can get betrayed by your own people, Mando.” His helmet tilts, and you shake your head pressing your fist to his chestplate “You could’ve died if they hadn’t showed up, but you don't owe them your life.” His hand comes up to hold yours flat against his chest.
“I’m not dying anytime soon, I’m too stubborn remember?” You couldn’t help the little giggle that escaped you and the blush that covered your cheeks. “I won’t be gone long, mesh’la.”
He stepped back, letting go of your hand and jetting off with the other Mandalorians, what was that last word he said?
When Mando finally returned the child was playing with a baby tadpole as you watched with a wide smile, it was so cute seeing him play with creatures instead of eating them. Mando stepped into the room and you could smell his burnt clothes, was he in a fire or something? He picked up the kid and you thanked the happy couple for their hospitality. The Razor Crest somehow looked worse than it was? Why did he put fishing nets everywhere, there were strings and scrap throughout the ship? It was uglier than usual and that was saying something for the old ship. Mando starts climbing the ladder and you stop him “Once were launched into hyperspace come down here.” he nods and continues up to the cockpit.
You set up a burn station, it wasn’t just his flight suit that was seared and you could tell by the smell he had some nasty burns. As you lifted off you prepared antibiotic ointment, water and lotion, since you couldn’t find bacta anywhere around this would have to do. Mando did as he was told and came back down after launching into hyperspace, carrying the kid with him, and putting him in his hammock. “Do you know where you’re burned the most?”
“How did you know I was burned?” You gave him a look “Probably my back.”
“Your shirt’s coming off then.” You turned and poured water on a clean rag, and turned back, he still had his shirt on. “Do you need help?” A quiet sigh left the modulator and he started taking off his gloves, revealing his calloused hands. You tried not to stare but they were so big and pretty and big. His voice snapped you out of your trance.
“Can you turn around again?”
“Oh! Yeah.”
You spun around and he started taking off pieces of his armor one by one, setting them down carefully on the floor. After that he sat on the floor and pulled his shirt over his still covered face.
“Okay.”
You turned back around, not expecting to be looking down at a seated Mandalorian, his skin was a bit blistered as you had feared. You walked a bit closer and sat on your knees behind him, you dragged the wet cloth up his back over the broken blistered skin, cleaning away the dirt and ash that followed him. You also noticed his shoulders and biceps were burned as well, luckily not to the extent of his back. With gentle hands you took his arm and lifted it to run the rag over the burns there, you could feel his eyes on you, but you were too focused on helping him. After you finished cleaning off the burns you stood and squeezed antibiotic ointment onto your hand “So what does it mean?” Mando hums as you kneel by his side and rub the ointment into his skin “What you said, what was it?” Your hands work from one bicep and shoulder into his back and to the other bicep and shoulder.
“It’s Mando’a.”
“And what does it mean?” Your hand travels down to his bicep and he catches it, making your gaze snap to his visor.
“Beautiful.”

Chapter 9: The Crash

You were almost back to the ship before the speeder tipped forward and you were launched into the air, Mando recovered quickly switching his jetpack on, you weren’t as lucky landing on your stomach. When you raised your head to see what had caused the speeder to tip, you saw bounty hunters attacking Mando, and a smaller figure going for the kid.
You stood and grabbed your spear, launching it just short of the child, a warning for the small alien, the spear landed sticking out of the ground and drawing the attention of another bounty hunter. He rushed you, it was clear he wanted to take you down quickly, he reached out to grab you, you grabbed his forearm and used his own momentum against him, throwing him hard over your shoulder. He landed hard against the adjacent rock, you might’ve killed him, but he shouldn’t have gone after the child. Your eyes landed on the kid being held by the small alien, with a knife pointed at him, you were about to walk closer but Mando put up his hand silently telling you to stop. You did, stopping in your tracks. He started negotiating, you couldn’t speak his language but it seemed he had some high demands. Mando removed his jetpack and the child was set free, he ran to his father who scooped him off the ground as the little alien retreated.
“You okay?” The kid cooed and you rushed over making sure the kid was ok, checking under his little head for any cuts. “Are you okay?” You looked up to the Mandalorian.
“A little bruised but nothing I can’t handle. Am I stitching you up again?”
He shook his head, pressing a few buttons on his arm, and something launched in the distance did a few loops in the air then plummeted back down. He pressed a few more buttons and his jetpack made it back, setting itself on the ground.
With the speeder totaled, you and Mando had to carry your luggage on foot through the deserts of Tatooine, you carried the child and the dragon meat while Mando carried the rest. The journey was long and hot, so so hot, you were afraid you were gonna melt. You couldn’t imagine how hot Mando was under all the armor, probably drenched under all that armor. Your thoughts drifted to the tan skin you had caught glimpses of and imagined it glistening with sweat, all those muscles… You were losing your mind out here! He’s your partner not some eye candy get a hold of yourself!
Eventually you made it back to the city, it was dark by then but you were thankful for the cool air. “Go ahead and head back to the ship, I’ll meet you there.” You nodded and went back to the mechanics shop, the ship was still wide open so you didn’t need Mando to open it. You set the Krayt meat down on one of the unused boxes in the shop, and took the child out of the satchel, sitting him on the ground. He cooed, grabbing your leg Hungry. You giggled sitting down next to him.
“You’re always hungry, you know that?” He climbed into your lap and sat there, waiting for his dad to return with the mechanic. “Once they’re back we're gonna cook up that meat, sounds yummy right?” The kid pats your legs in a haphazard rhythm, excited to eat and to see his father.
When they both came back Peli had one of her droids prepare the meat for all of you, the child watched in awe and you swore you saw drool drilling down his chin while you stood next to him.
“Alright the contact will lead you to the Mandalorian covert, in return, she needs transport through the system.” Mando nods and asks for additional information “Well… there is one small skank in the scud pie, no hyperdrive.” You speak before Mando.
“Moving fast through the system is the only thing keeping us safe right now.”
“She’s right, the deal's off.”
“Now hold on you two, there are mitigating circumstances.”
“What do you mean by ‘mitigating’?” You could hear the agitation in Mandos' voice. Peli motioned for someone to come out of the shadows, an alien with something on her back you couldn’t make out.
“I’m not a taxi service.”
“I know, I know, I hear you. But I can vouch for her.”
The alien speaks in her mother tongue, yet another language you couldn’t understand, and by the looks of it neither can Mando. Peli translated for you telling you both it was her spawn, and if she flew with hyper drive it would kill them and be the end of her line. Once they were done talking the alien went up the ship's ramp with the child trailing her, you scooped him up and whispered to him.
“Don’t even think about it.” He looked up at you with the most innocent eyes, you weren’t fooled that easily. You carried him up to the cockpit following the alien, and sitting in the co-pilot's chair, putting the kid in your lap. “Stay here, don’t cause trouble.” Mando joined you two not long after, initiating the launching sequence. The Crest roared to life and exited the atmosphere of Tatooine, you didn’t notice the child had gone missing during takeoff, the shaking of the ship must’ve distracted you. While Mando was trying to communicate with the woman alien, you descended the ladder into the hold of the ship, finding the kid eating one of the eggs.
“No no no, that’s not food, we don’t eat that!” He whines as you lifted him off the tank and closed the lid. “Those are very important, you can’t eat them.” Mando slides down the ladder.
“What’s wrong?”
You hand him the child whispering “The little womp rat was eating her eggs, we need to keep him far away from them.” Mando sighed and put the kid in his little hammock above his bunk.
“You should get some rest, it will be a while before we get there.” He climbed into the bunk with the kid and shut the door, leaving you alone in the hold. He was right, there wasn't much to do besides sleep, you grabbed your bag to find anything to use as a blanket. You hesitated for a moment before pulling out something you had nearly forgotten you had, it was a gift from your home planet, from your mother. It was a fur lined cloak, made for your home planet's extreme weather, it would definitely keep you warm in this cold ship. You propped your bag against your back and leaned on the wall, curling up with the cloak draped over you, and for the first time in a long time you fell asleep easily.
It had only felt like seconds of sleep but it was more like hours, you were snapped away by alarms blaring and red lights flashing, Mando exited his bunk and went up to the cockpit. You were still a bit groggy but you went to check on the kid, he was still asleep. You could hear muffled voices coming from the cockpit, what was happening up there? You were about to go up the ladder when the ship lurched, slamming you against the wall, you didn’t hit your head too hard but it woke you up enough to notice the kid wobbling over to the tank of eggs. Just as you slid across the floor to get to them the Crests engine turned off and you started falling, you grabbed them both wrapping them in the cloak to protect them from the hard metal of the ship. When the ship leveled out you hit the ground hard, the breath leaving your lungs. Just when you thought it was over, after sliding across the planet's surface, you felt the ground give out beneath the ship. Your head collided with one of the pipes on the wall, your vision faded to black and everything disappeared.
In your barely conscious state you felt something warm on your cold face and a deep voice calling your name, it sounded worried. The Mandalorian was holding you upright on the floor trying to get you to wake up, one of his hands was cradling your cheek as he shook your shoulder. Your eyes fluttered open and it was blurry at first, the light coming in from the hole in the ship doing nothing to help the concussion you knew you had. You reached up to rub the back of your head, finding it wet you hissed and pulled your hand back looking at it, there was blood on your palm.
“Stay here alright? And stay awake.” He sounded gentle but stern as he went to go find the kid, his voice echoed in your head to stay awake but it was hard when your eyes were so heavy. Your eyes drifted down where the egg tank should’ve been, you knew the kid would do this, little womp rat. When Mando returned with the child and the tank, he kneeled next to you and sprayed the wound making you hiss.  “It’s only bacta, it’ll heal in a few hours.”
He says it like you haven’t been the one that’s a medic for years, the concussion doesn’t stop the little glare you give him when he brings over a small heater. When the woman alien comes down to reunited with her eggs, and be close to the warmth of the heater you speak.
“What do we do now?”
“The main power drive is not responding, and the hull has lost its integrity. The temperature will drop significantly when night falls.” He lays out a blanket next to you “I’ll have a better read on what to do at that time.” the frog lady protests, you could tell without knowing the language that something was wrong. “I’m sorry lady, I don’t speak frog. Whatever it is can wait till morning.” You saw the scared look in her eyes before she took off her cloak wrapping it around the tank. You unfastened the latch of the cloak off your shoulders and held it out for her to take, she looked nervous and confused.
“They need it more than I do.” You gave her a soft smile, and she took it, it was big enough for her to wrap around her and her eggs. You couldn’t tell what she said after but you were hoping it was at least a ‘thank you’, without your cloak you could feel just how cold the ship had gotten. You shivered wrapping your arms around yourself, Mando noticed this, he laid his hand on your thick waist and dragged you closer to him. You were about to say something when he spoke first.
“Sleep.”
Red dusted over your cheeks as you laid your head on the Mandalorians shoulder, even though the armor itself was cold you could feel his body heat from under the flight suit. You hummed mumbling under your breath "You're an okay cuddler". He was warm, his hand stayed around your waist keeping you close, you put your hands close to his side to keep them warm and curled into him and fell asleep next to him.
You stayed asleep longer than you had thought, when you woke everyone was out of the ship and your cloak was draped over you again. Why did she give it back? You heard rumbling in this distance, was it your concussion or was Mando fighting another dragon? When you looked out of the hole in the ship you saw Mando holding the kid and the frog lady running from a hoard of Krykan, you always hated how those things looked in books now you were seeing the real thing and hated it even more. You ran to the cockpit and started the engines, they sputtered and roared to life, Mando took over the controls once the doors were closed and everyone was safe. You thought you were going to make it as the Crest ascended upwards, but that hope died when a giant Krykan landed on top of the ship. You held the child close, shielding his eyes from the ugly creature as it tried to break through the glass. You thought all was lost until blaster shots caught your attention, the beast fell off the ship and Mando exited the ship to see who was helping them. You whipped off the windshield to find two New Republic X-Fighters shooting the stray Krykan off the ship, were they what caused you to crash land? They left before you could go out and ask questions, leaving you confused.
Mando explained he’d only be able to repair the cockpit but not the main hull, the ship could make it to Trask but barely. You helped him with the repairs as you could, finding leaks in the windshield or fixing frayed wiring. When the ship was ready for take off you held the child in your lap as the old Razor Crest came to life again, it was unsteady and unsafe, you were sure one of the thrusters would give out by the time you made it there.

Chapter 8: The Dragon
Summary: You and Mando grow closer before the battle with the Krayt Dragon.
A/n: There isn't a clear explanation on the creed so I kinda wingged it :')

You woke in the middle of the night, sleep never came easy to you so this was normal, you did your best to exit the tent as quietly as you could. You didn’t go far, only wandering to a lonely rock on the outskirts of the Raiders camp. You sat and looked at the sky, the stars and planets alike always intrigued you, they were so close but so far in comparison to you, so small compared to the rest of the universe.
“Trouble sleeping?”
A familiar voice comes from behind you, the crunch of his boots on sand comes closer.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you, is the kid still asleep?”
He sat next to you on the rock, this was the first time you sat close to him without treating him or on the speeder, it was nice.
“Once he’s out it’s hard to get him up.”
You chuckled looking down at your hands laid in your lap “If you don’t mind me asking,” you crossed your legs and he tilts his helmet in your direction “what does your creed mean?”
“What do you mean?”
“I could hear the anger in your voice, when the Marshall admitted he wasn’t a Mandalorian, I’ve only heard stories of Mandalorians if I’m traveling with you I think I should know more I guess?” When you look over to him he’s just staring at you, the T visor unmoving, you were starting to think you had upset him. “You don’t have t-” He interrupted you.
“I’m thinking how to put it,” he looks out into the dark distance. “I can never allow a living thing to see under the helmet, or let them take it off.”
“What happens if you do? If you let someone remove it?”
“It would be breaking the creed, I could never put the helmet back on, I wouldn’t be a Mandalorian.”
“Then what would you be?” His helmet points back to you again, you could tell he was confused “If you weren’t a Mandalorian, who would you be?”
It took him a minute to respond “...I never put much thought into it.” you hummed at his response, gently placing your hand over his.
“You’re too stubborn to let that happen though.” A tired laugh came through the modulator and you stood, nudging the toe of your boot against his. “C’mon big guy, I think we're both tired now.” He stood and walked next to you the whole way back, you noticed he kept his stride timed with yours, he could’ve gotten there before you with his added height, but he didn’t. He even held the tent flap open for you, where had this side of him been?
When morning came you, and the child rode on the back the Bantha Mando was on, the Marshal on the one behind you and the Tusken raiders in front and in back. You arrived at the pit where the Krayt Dragon resides, one of the Raiders leads a spare Bantha to its entrance, you were more worried about the Raider than whatever Mando was translating. You all watched as the Raider tied the Bantha to the ground and shouted into the dragon's lair, a rumble was heard and the Raider started running away, but they weren’t fast enough, they were eaten by the dragon, instead of the Bantha. The kid whimpered and turned to bury himself in your chest, you held him tighter there, like he would disappear.
The Raiders and your little group backtracked, out of the caverns that lead them to the sarlacc pit to rethink their strategy. Mando volunteered the Marshalls village as reinforcements to slay the thing, when you made it back to the village you were nearly ready to rip them both in half. One always had to be better than the other, they raced on the way over here for kriffing sake! Men or at least, one man, was gonna be the death of you. While the Marshall talked with the people with Mando at his side, he explained the situation, that Mando would help kill the dragon in exchange for the armor. The people were upset when he mentioned that the sand people were willing to aid them, but Mando quickly put that to rest. You were learning more than you thought from him, he was quiet sure but when the time came he knew just what to say, he was a good leader. Not long after, the people began piling up all the explosives they had loading it onto the sand people's Bantha. The people were still on edge you could tell, they whispers amongst themselves, watching their every move and yelling at them if they made a mistake.
Arriving at the sarlacc pit once more, the kid followed after you as you helped the townspeople bury their charges into the ground. You could feel their eyes on you, it was obvious they didn’t trust you and they had every right not to, but you helped them anyway. Once that was done you picked up the child and went over to Mando.
“What now?”
“You stay back with the kid, I don't want him wandering off when we lure it out.”
You wanted to protest, wanted to help more, but you knew he was right. The kids safety was top priority for both of you. You went back to the speeder bike placing the child in his side bag and waiting, when they were ready the Raiders shouted into the pit awaking the dragon. The sand rippled as it exited the cave, but something was off, it was stopping right before the charges. It started retreating back into the pit, dragging the Tuskens that tried to keep it above ground. You stood in front of the kid so he wouldn’t have to witness the bloodshed that was happening, several Tuskens fell to its acid spray, but the dragon was finally over the charges. The Marshall detonated the explosives sending it back into its cave, it would never be that easy. You handed Mando his plasma rifle, he flew into the sky and the Marshall followed quickly after, he really was gonna be the death of you. You watched as the flew up to the tip of the mountain back down to the ground, the Marshall launched his missile when the dragon resurfaced grabbing its attention. It was hard to make out what was going on but you could’ve sworn you saw Mando hit the Marshalls jetpack, making him rocket upwards. You didn’t have time to think about what you saw before the Mandalorian was swallowed.
Papa? You gasped, the kid had escaped from his side bag, you picked him up and turned around holding him closer to you. Memories of the Mandalorian ran through your head, and a tear ran down your cheek, the kid reached a clawed hand up rubbing over your wet cheek and the feeling of grief washed over you. Your moment with the kid was interrupted by the dragon resurfacing and Mando flying out of his mouth, you couldn’t believe it! You were gonna kill him. He detonated the explosives not lodged in the Krayt dragon's belly, finally defeating the beast and freeing the people of its terror. The people cheered, celebrating their victory. Mando met you and the kid at the speeder, the acidic bile of the dragon still coated his armor, the kid nearly dropped to the ground trying to get out of your hold before Mando took him from you. You let them have their time then, pulled the man aside, out of earshot of the child.
“That was a stupid, reckless move and you know it.” When he tries to speak you interrupt him “You aren’t alone anymore, you have to stay alive for the kid, he needs you Mando. We’re a team now right? Act like it.” He stood dumbfounded, as you walked back to the speeder.
The Tuskens didn’t waste their time on collecting the valuable resources of the dragon, even being so kind as to give you some of the meat from the beast. The Marshall handed the armor over as promised, you hopped on the back of the speeder and you were off. You could smell the bile from the dragon on Mandos cloak, the smell burned your nose but you couldn’t let go of the man or you’d fall off.

Chapter 7: To Tatooine
Summary: You head to Tatooine to find the mysterious Mandalorian, it didn't go as planned.

Mando joined you two after launching the Crest into hyperspace, you could see now that he left the bacta patch on his torso, you could see it through his still cut flight suit. You stood and walked over to him.
“The wound should be healed by now, so the stitches need to come out, sit here.” You tapped the crate the kid was on, he hesitated, did you have to say the magic word? “Please?” He did as you asked as you rummaged through your bag finding your spare medkit taking the scissors and tweezers out. You knelt at his right side moving his flight suit to find the edge of the patch, he didn’t flinch as you peeled it back, revealing the healed laceration. You stood going to throw away the bloody patch, when you returned with the bin the kid was next to Mando rubbing his clawed hand against the scarring skin.
“He’s all better now bud, I just need to fix him up a bit, make him all pretty right?”
The child smiled and cooed as you took your place beside him again, “I’m guessing you’ve had stitches removed before.” Mando nodded and you held a stitch between the tweezers then cutting it, the stitch slipped out of his skin and you tossed it into the bin. You continued removing his stitches one by one as the kid watched you carefully until the last stitch was removed. His tan skin, although scarred, is now back to normal. The child ran his hand across his skin again, while you put up your supplies you heard Mando say something very quietly.
“...thank you”
You smiled over your shoulder “I’m your medic now right? It’s my job.”
“You weren’t on Nevarro, but you still saved me, you saved the kid. So thank you.”
You were a bit shocked in all honesty, you couldn’t remember the last time someone besides the child had thanked you genuinely. “You’re welcome, Mando.”
It wasn’t long, maybe a few hours when you came upon Tatooine, Mando had told you beforehand that he needed to stop by and see someone before going to find the other Mandalorian Koresh spoke of. He set the Crest down in what looked to be a mechanic shop, the droids immediately came out to check on the ship. You could hear Mando and another woman talking before you stepped onto the ramp, with the kid at your hip in his satchel. Mando motioned for you to come closer, you obliged and he gently took the child from you, showing the woman.
“Oh thank The Force!” The woman took the kid from him and bargand to buy him. “And who’s this?” she looked back at you.
You stuck your hand out to shake hers, she did the same, giving her a firm handshake telling her your name “It’s very nice to meet you, Mando has told me of your kindness.” The woman laughed, throwing her head back.
“I like this one! Names Peli- Hey!”
She yells at the droids, they look like they don’t know what they're doing, the pipes and wires of the ship are tangled together on the ground, and one droid is nearly carried off by a steaming air pipe. The two continue talking, about the kid and about the mysterious Mandalorian on Tatooine. Peli shouts at her R-5 unit to bring up the map of the planet, the droid is slow to respond and come forward, even with Peli’s complaints. Eventually a holo-map of the planet appears, Peli begins listing off the names of the towns, showing you both where Mos Pelgo should be.
“I don't see anything.”
“Well, it’s there, or at least it used to be. No ones been over there in years, they'll see that big hunk of metal before you land.”
“You still have that speeder bike?”
You hopped on the back seat of the speeder, the child was already somewhat safely tucked in his little pouch on the side of the bike. As soon as you put your hands on Mandos' waist he hit the throttle, you let out a startled gasp, wrapping your arms completely around his torso. The trip wasn’t dangerous but stars was it boring, before arriving at the settlement, the only thing interesting was camping for the night with the Tusken Raiders. As you approached the settlement Mando slowed the speeder bike, you loosened your hold on him opting to rest you hands on his waist again. People stepped out of their homes and buildings staring you both down, didn’t Peli mention this place was abandoned? They were somber, covered in a layer of dust, none spoke as you drove down the road. You got off the speeder bike first opting to stay with it and the kid as Mando went into the bar he stopped in front of, you could feel someone watching you. The kid managed to get out of the speeder, he wanted to see what was going on, you did too so you followed him, leaning against the wall next to the doorway. You couldn’t hear what they were talking about but when a man in worn out Mandalorian armor stepped into the doorway, your focus was on him. Picking him up off the ground you only watched as he entered, you could only make out his first sentence.
“What brings you here stranger?”
Before he stepped out of earshot, the child was getting fussy, he wanted to watch. So you stepped inside, the man with the worn armor had taken his helmet off, was he allowed to do that? You caught the ending of his statement as you leaned against the bar.
“...I figure only one of us walking out of here. But then I see the little guy,” He smiles and the child coos back “and I think, maybe I pegged you wrong.”
You could feel Mando’s emotion seep out, but you couldn’t quite tell what it was, rage? Unease? Fear?
“Hand it over.”
“Look, pal, I’m sure you call the shots where you come from, but ‘round here, I’m the one tells folks what to do.”
Mandos' next statement sent a chill down your spine. “Take it off. Or I will.”
“We gonna do this in front of the lady?” You rolled your eyes and spoke for the first time since you arrived.
"I've seen worse."
What was it gonna take for men to not treat you like some priss! The child cooed in your arms as the two men stalled their eventual fight, there was a tense silence as the Marshall stood, you noticed his right hand twitching for his blaster. The atmosphere was broken by an intense rumbling through the building, you held the child tighter and went outside to see what was going on, Mando trailed you. In the distance you could see the sand of the desert ripping like waves as whatever it was made its way through town. The dorsal fins of the creature poke out as it swam through the street, the creature surfaced only to swallow stray Bantha, only then did it sink back into the sand and disappear.
“Maybe we can work something out.”
You were back on the speeder bike behind Mando, after he agreed to help the Marshall kill the Krayt Dragon as it’s called. Where the dragon lived wasn’t far from the settlement, the Marshall began telling the story of how he got the armor, that with the destruction of the deathstar they became a slave camp, how he escaped the settlement but wondered for days until the Jawas found him. The crystals he had taken bought the armor he wears, and that was how he liberated the settlement.
The terrain changed as the four of you came closer to where the dragon resided, a loud groan echoed through the rocky chasm. The Marshals hand flew up and Mando came to an immediate stop, you got off and ducked behind the speeder as Mando did. The rumbling and groaning didn’t cease, something stepped out from the rocks, what was that thing? More followed the first, they were starting to close in until a deepthroated shout can from your armored partner, he stepped out from behind the speeder and spoke to them. Was that Tusken? The animal bounded over and Mando kneeled to meet him, patting the beast's side, you stood as Tusken Raiders made themselves known and communicated with Mando. They wanted the dragon dead too.
At the Raiders camp, Mando continued talking with them around a campfire, you sat to his left with the kid in your lap. He seemed to be enjoying all the extra company, but you had to admit the way their ‘pets’ were staring at him made you hold him just a bit tighter. After the discussion at the campfire ended a raider kindly showed you and Mando where you’d bee sleeping, a simple tent with two thin mattresses on the ground each with a thin blanket, Mando signed ‘Thank you’ to the raider before joining you in the tent. You set the child on the mattress and pulled the cover back laying down next to him, he quickly climbed his way between your arms.
“He seems to like you.”
“Maybe, or maybe it’s just cause I’m a better cuddler.” Your giggle causes the child to giggle as well, you heard a small chuckle from the Mandalorian.
“Was that a laugh?”
“No.”
“C’mon admit it.”
“I didn’t laugh”
You whispered to the kid “He laughed right?” The kid giggled again “Knew it.”
“Go to sleep.”

Chapter 6: First informant
Summary: Mando needs help finding more of his people, you didn't realize how valuable he was.

You startled awake, the child was gone from your lap, you nearly panicked thinking he had fallen off you in his slumber. Then you realized you had already landed, the cockpit was pitch black aside from the various control lights. As you stood, feeling against the wall to the door of the cockpit you mumbled incoherent curses for not waking you up sooner, you made your way down the ladder and into the hold of the Razor Crest. Mando stood there with the child in his pram, the ramp touched down on the planet's surface as you spoke up.
“Planning on leaving me?”
“You looked like you needed the rest.”
You walked closer standing to the side of the kids pram, petting his fuzzy head “Well, I’m up, so let’s go”
Mando didn’t say anything as he started walking, the planet was dark, eerie in its silence. You followed after him the child training next to you. The only thing separating the town from the rest of the planet was its poorly lit street lights, and the red eyed monsters that lurked in the shadows. You were still unsure of where exactly you were going but you trusted Mando wouldn’t intentionally put the child in danger. You soon came up to a building guarded by a Twi’lek. Mando stated his business.
“I’m here to see Gor Koresh.”
His eyes moving from the Mandalorian, to you, then the child that cooed up at him. Something didn’t feel right as the Twi’lek opened the door.
“Enjoy the fights.”
Mando was the first to walk in, and you quickly followed, the childs pram trailing you. As you stepped foot into the building you could feel the blood lust in the air, it sapped your energy from you, the smell of blood and sweat filled your nostrils. What kind of place is this? There was a ring in front of the hallway with two creatures fighting inside, you couldn’t make out their species but they fought brutally, their heavy weaponry clashed together as they fought. It almost reminded you of home. You never really understood this kind of thing, why people cheered as they watched others get hurt or killed. Mando stalked past the crowd, the kid looked uneasy as one of the green men fell to the floor, you blocked his line of sight with your body, giving him a reassuring smile. People yelled and screamed as the creature got back up on his feet, it was getting a bit too brutal even for your taste, you knew they couldn’t keep this up for much longer. Mando took a seat next to who you assumed was Gor Koresh.
“You know this is no place for a child, or a lady.”
“Wherever I go, they go.”
You rolled your eyes at his comment but kept your mouth shut, you knew he needed this info to get to more Mandalorians.
“So I’ve heard.”
The fight continued in front of you, their heavy axes giving off powerful waves of sound as the battled.
“I’ve been quested to bring him to his kind. If I can locate other Mandalorians, they can help guide me. I’m told you know where to find them.”
You saw the child still watched the fight, Koresh was right, this is no place for a child, you turned the pram to face away from the ring.
“It’s uncouth to talk business immediately. Just enjoy the entertainment.”
The child coos, hearing their weapons clash again and again, the same green man that got knocked down when you first came in was knocked down once more.
“Bah! My Gamorrean’s not doing well. Kill him! Finish him!”
You gripped the side of the kids pram so tight your knuckled started changing shades, how could he be so careless of anothers life? It made your blood boil as more people started shouting the same thing, you had to keep your composure, you had to stay calm for the kid. The Gamorrean, still standing, strikes down, almost finishing his opponent before he rolled away.
“You gamble, Mando?”
“Not when it can be avoided.”
Koresh chuckles “Well, I’ll bet you the information you seek that this Gamorrean’s going to die within the next minute and a half. And all you have to put up in exchange is your shiny beskar armor.”
Your head turned, staring at the one eyed man, did he really think that was going to happen? The Mandalorian did the same, staring him down through his visor.
“I’m prepared to pay you for the information. I’m not leaving my fate up to chance.”
The Gamorrean reeled his axe back, ready to strike again. Something was wrong here.
“Nor am I.” Koresh took out a blaster and shot the Gamorrean in the chest; he fell backwards onto the floor. Blasters were pointed at you and Mando before you could blink. You counted five in total, two pointed at you and three at Mando, that was their mistake though.
Koresh chickled again, “Thank you, for coming to me. Normally, I have to seek out remnants of you Mandalorians in your hidden hives, to harvest your precious shiny shells.” another chuckle as he continues to threaten to peel it off mandos corpse.
“Tell me where the Mandalorians are, and I’ll walk out of here without killing you.”
“Thought you said you weren’t a gambler.”
You saw Mando clench his fist, small lights emitting from his forearm, you closed the childs pram.
“I’m not.”
The blasters pointed at your head fell to the ground after Mando launched his attack, but there were more than just those five. The Gamorrean left in the ring jumped over the ropes missing you and Mando, one of the gamblers wrapped his arms around you and lifted you off the floor, you were really getting tired of being manhandled. You swung your legs up and down, using the momentum to throw the man over your shoulder, you pulled a small pipe out from your belt, when you swung it downwards it extended into a full spear. The man was uncoordinated on his attacks; it was easy to dodge him, with every missed punch he stumbled forward, you couldn’t help but play with him a bit. You sweeped the end of your spear under his feet making him fall face first onto the hard floor, while you were playing around Mando was taking on the Twi’lek and another gambler. This was child's play for him and it was obvious, however he showed them no mercy, there was purpose with every move he made.
Out of the corner of your eye you could see Gor Koresh escaping, and if you saw it the Mandalorian did too. It was time to leave, taking that sharp end of your spear you plunged it into the man's back, Mando did the same, sinking his knife into his opponent's chest. You both made it out of the building, watching as Koresh made a pathetic escape attempt. But Mando wasn’t about to let that happen, he shot a wire out his armor wrapping it around Koresh's legs, tripping him. Mando dragged him towards one of the street lights, swinging the wire over its arch and pulling him to hang by his feet then tying it off. You tucked your spear back into your belt as it retracted.
“All right, stop, stop! I’ll tell you where he is. But you must give me your word you wont kill me.” You could hear the stain in his voice, you stood next to mando glaring down at this repulsive excuse for a man.
“I promise you will not die by my hand. Now where is the Mandalorian you know of.”
“Tatooine.”
“What?”
“The Mando I know of, is on Tatooine.”
“I’ve spent much time on Tatooine. I've never seen a Mandalorian there.”
The man continues to struggle trying to convince Mando there is, in fact, another Mandalorian on Tatooine. He even tells the name of the city, swearing on his life that he’s in Mos Pelgo.
“Tatooine it is then.”
You both begin to walk away, the childs still closed pram following next to you, Koresh is begging Mando to not leave him, telling him he can’t be left like this. You turn around pointing your blaster at the light.
“That wasn’t part of the deal.”
You fire, sending the street into almost total darkness, the red eyed creatures start surrounding him, growling as he screams. As the three of you return to the Razor Crest you opened the childs pram and scooped him out, holding him against your chest. You hated that he had to see that kind of violence, the kind that you grew up with, it wasn’t fair to him. He cooed, grabbing your attention, Eat.
“Hungry huh? Let’s fix that.”
Mando watched as you set him down on one of the crates in the belly of the ship.
“How can you tell he’s hungry?”
“Can’t you hear his little stomach growling? It’s like an engine!” You lied
You grabbed something for the kid to eat out of the cooling unit and making your way back over to him. Mando went up the ladder to fly you to your next destination, as you fed the kid he gargled and smiled at you. It wasn’t right to lie to him, but what else could you do, he would never believe you. You felt the ship lift off from the planet and out of the atmosphere, you’d have to tell him eventually…

Summary: How will you escape Nevarro?
A/N:Sorry for the short chapter :')

“What are you doing here…?” Your voice was still hoarse.
“Repaying my debt”
“So now’s when you decide to get that fixed?”
He holds out his hand for you to take “Let’s go, we're leaving.” as you reach out to take it, stepping closer to him, your legs nearly give out as the wall no longer supports you. The Mandalorian steps forward and you land on his armored chest “Are you Injured?” he lifts you to stand straight by your biceps, he's treating you so gently now, where's that rude bounty hunter? You feel against your plump stomach, finding where he struck you, it was nothing serious, no bleeding but it will bruise.
“I’ll be fine, but I’m not sure if I can keep up with you like this.”
He looked back towards the door, the sound of more storm troopers marching filled your ears, your mind began racing again. How will we get out? Will he leave you? Where’s the kid-
“-Woah!” In one swift movement the Mandalorian bent down, wrapping his arm around the bend in your knees and stood, throwing you over his shoulder, there he was. You couldn’t help the flush that made its way across your face, he didn’t even grunt when he stood. How strong is this man?! He handed you your blaster, he must’ve found the trooper who took it. “Can you still shoot?”
“Yeah?”
“Then watch my back.”
You nodded and held the blaster firmly in both hands, he stepped out into the hallway after making sure the coast was clear. A trooper rounded the corner and into your sights, before he could even aim you fired, hitting him in the neck. The Mandalorian made his way through the building to the exit, now you could see just how many troopers he had taken out, some were piled on top of one another. As he stepped out of the building he was met with three storm troopers opening fire, he ducked into an alley and crouched, putting your feet back onto the pavement.
“We need to get to my ship.”
“What’s the plan?”
He looked out of the alleyway, a blaster shot just barely missed his helmet, you could tell there were cogs turning in his head. “You aren’t safe on Nevarro anymore.” maybe it was the lack of sleep or maybe it was just this man's personality but you were ready to throttle the next person you saw.
“You’re so observant.” You couldn’t help your sarcasm. He turned his helmet to look at you, soaking in your comment. “What should I do then?”
“You could find someone willing to take you to another outer rim planet and spend a while in hiding from the empire.”
“That's not a great pla-”
“I wasn’t finished; you could hide on an outer rim planet or, you could come with me.”
“Why would I do that?”
“The kid needs someone to take care of him, and you’re a talented medic, I could use one of those.”
You went quiet thinking to yourself, on one hand you had made a life for yourself here, it wasn’t much in fact it was very little. On the other hand you could join the Mandalorian as an onboard medic, you’d get to see the kid, you’d see and do so much more than just Nevarro. Not to mention the bounty hunting, he’d need help eventually, and you were getting rusty it was almost perfect. Your head moved from side to side until you eventually told him your answer.
“Alright Mandalorian, it’s a deal, but I have to get something from my place before we leave.”
“That’ll be tricky.”
“Trickier than busting into an imperial building?”
His silence spoke volumes, your strength was coming back through adrenaline, stepping closer to the corner of the alley you fired two shots hitting both of the troopers you were aiming at. With only one more trooper left, the tin can took it upon himself to take him out. He followed you as you ran down the streets, until finally you came up to your apartment. You barged in, the Mandalorians blood still in your hallway and streaking into the living room. You made your way into your room and to the closet, there was a bag already made and waiting for you. You could never be too cautious on Nevarro. Slinging the bag over your shoulder you met him at the doorway “Ready now?”
You only nodded, he started walking and you trailed after him staying on alert in case any stray troopers came your way. A sense of dread over took you and you turned around, a platoon of stormtroopers were marching toward you two. “Move it!” You pushed the Mandalorian urging him to move faster, as he picked up speed you turned and fired 3 shots. Only two of them hit, man you really were rusty, you turned back around and sprinted after him.
Once you both made it onto the ship you started looking for the kid, where did his pram go? Blaster shots rang out and the ramp closed. The Mandalorian quickly climbed the ladder up to the cockpit, you followed after him. He sat in the pilot’s seat straight ahead of the doorway, the child was in the co-pilot’s seat to your left, his big eyes widened when he saw you. You grinned and lifted him into your arms.
“Miss me little man?”
He gurgled and grabbed at your face and hair, Happy, you sat down and strapped yourself in holding the child tightly to you. As you were preparing for departure you thought to yourself and spoke your thoughts, telling the Mandalorian your name.
“Is there anything else I can calm you besides ‘Mandalorian’?”
He stayed quiet, flicking switches and pulling up on the controls, the ship hovered over ground as the landing gear retreated into the body of the ship. He didn’t respond until you were in the atmosphere.
“Most just call me ‘Mando’, that works fine.”
“What about the child?”
“He doesn’t have a name.”
Grogu. The thought rang in your head and you looked down at the child, he only smiled and cooed. It’s best not to talk about it, you thought to yourself, at least for now.
“So where are we headed?”
“I need some help finding where the kid is from, we're meeting a man named Koresh.”
Soon you were launched into hyperspace, the child was drifting off in your arms, you couldn’t help but do the same. You've been up all night and almost all day now, you needed rest, but before you dozed off you could see the gleam in the Mandalorians' helm change. The corner of his visor was now focused on you and the child, did he ever let his guard down? Your thoughts floated away as unconsciousness washed over you.

Forgive Your Heart
Chapter 4: Fugitives
Summary: How can you get the kid out of this?
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Your heart pounded in your chest, you could feel your pulse in your head, they were moving closer you needed to move.
“Hey! Who’s back there!?”
You weighed your options, you could run, risking not only your life but the child's and Mandalorians safety, or you could give yourself up leaving the child alone. You needed to think quicker, you knew your aim was far better than any storm troopers but would it stop more from coming? Locked in your thoughts you leaned your full body weight onto the dumpster, the screech of its wheels alerted the troopers. Without hesitation you grabbed the side of the dumpster and pushed it aside and forward, wedging it between the walls of the alleyway. The storm troopers started yelling for backup as you fled the scene, you hadn’t run this fast in a long time. You pushed the pram in front of yourself to shield the child, blaster fire followed as you sprinted to your apartment. When you arrived at the front door you took a second to catch your breath, holding yourself up against a wall, as you rose from your spot to open the door you heard footsteps. You flung the door open, shoving the pram and throwing the Mandalorians console inside, when you were about to enter a trooper rounded the corner.
“Stop right there!”
You froze for a moment then closed the door in front of you, if you entered they'll undoubtedly barge their way in and find the Mandalorian and the child, you kept one hand behind your back next to your blaster. You turned to face the trooper and put on your best fake smile, lacing your voice with honey.
“Is there something I can help you with?”
“We’re looking for a fugitive, a Mandalorian, have you seen him?”
“I’m sorry no, I’ve been at work all day. I'm just now getting home.”
The trooper stood, you could hear a whispered voice from his helmet and he raised his blaster at you. “You need to come with me.” Your eyes narrowed, there were other troopers closing in fast, if you fought now you’d do more harm than good. You raised your hands slowly with palms facing out, the trooper motioned for you to go ahead of him, nudging your back with the blaster so you would walk forward. He continued harshly shoving your back in the direction he needed you to go causing you to trip almost every turn, finally you stopped in front of a shabby looking building. The trooper stepped out from behind you, pressing buttons on his forearm, the door opened and he motioned for you to go in. “Move it.”
There were more, so many more storm troopers as you moved through the building, they all watched you. You had to be honest with yourself it was terrifying how their visors followed you, no emotion, nothing just a blank empty space. You came up to another door, it opened as soon as you stood in front of it, the trooper shoved you in.
“Easy!”
“Empty your pockets.”
You huffed, reaching into your pockets you pulled out your wallet and keys, holding them up for him to see and placing them on the ground and standing back up. He marched closer to you.
“Turn around.”
“Why?”
He pointed the blaster at you again. ”Turn around”
“Alright! Damn…”
He patted along the arch of your back and over your full hips “Little handsy are we?” He grabbed the back collar of your shirt roughly, you grunted at the action and he ripped the blaster out of your belt. After shoving it in his own belt he pushed you further into the cell, this time you couldn’t regain your balance, falling hard onto the floor landing on your forearms.
“Don’t try anything funny.”
The door shut as the trooper stepped out and you sat up from your position, you rubbed your now bruising forearms. What is this place? What are they going to do to you? How will you get out? These thoughts and hundreds of others raced through your head as you paced through the tiny holding cell, your mind eventually drifted to the child and the Mandalorian, how would they get out of Nevarro now? Ugh, that was a stupid idea to think you could help a bounty hunter of all people! And one that sticks out like a sore thumb, c’mon! You wondered how the child must be feeling right now, he must’ve seen the man laying on your floor by now, what would do? Your mind continued racing the longer you were in the cell, how long had it been in here? It felt like days as you waited for someone, anyone to come into the cell, man did you regret that.
You were sat in the corner of the cell, leaning against the wall fading in and out of sleep when the door slid open, you shot up, your eyes narrowing at the man in front of you. It was an older man but not the same one from before, this man was dressed in all black with a cloak draped across his shoulders. The way he said your name sent ice down your spine.
“Apologies for the wait, there were more pressing matters to deal with.”
“If I’m so unimportant then I’ll be on my way.”
“Afraid not.”
The man pulled out a holo puck, the image of the Mandalorian soon appeared above it as it laid in his palm, your blood ran cold. “You’ve seen him before haven’t you?” You crossed your arms over your chest, calming your nerves and answering without a waver in your speech.
“Like I told your trooper, I’ve never seen him, who are you anyway?”
He hummed at your response and tucked the holo puck back into his pocket, two stormtroopers emerged from the entrance, they stalked standing on either side of you. You felt your anxiety bubble in your ribcage, this wasn't going to end well. Before the one on your right could grab your arm you wound you arm over your face and slammed your below into his visor, but you weren’t quick enough with the other trooper. He caught your arm and shoved you back against the wall, was this a common thing for men in armor to do? The man in black struck your torso with a stun baton, causing you to cry out in pain.
When he pulled the baton away you hunched over, the troopers stopped you from hitting the floor. “Have I jogged your memory?” He grabbed under your chin making you look up at him, bringing his face closer to yours. You reeled your head back and slammed it into his, the man stumbled back holding his now bloodied nose.
“Clearly, you’ve never done this before.”
You let out another howl of pain as the man lunged forward and struck you once more, the troopers dropping you onto the floor when he pulled back. Your body contracted into itself as you wheezed, trying to fill your lungs. You could hear their voices going in and out as your body shook from excess voltage.
“We- -on’t have -ime for this”
Then they were gone, your body was still fighting for air as you laid on the cold floor, curled into yourself. You were breathing too fast, everything was going too fast, your thoughts jumbled in your head. The familiar feeling of unconsciousness drifted over you…
When you finally woke from your induced slumber, you could hear a noise coming from outside the cell, it wasn’t footsteps it was blaster shots? You sat up on your haunches, leaning heavily on the floor with your palms, your head was still foggy. It was difficult and ungraceful, but you made it to your feet eventually using the wall for most of the struggle. You still leaned against the wall when you heard two more shots ring out, whoever it was, is close. Watching the door slide open you mentally prepared to be hauled off by a stormtrooper, an armor clad man stood in the doorway. You never thought you could be this happy seeing that shiny kriffing man.
“What are you doing here…?” Your voice was still hoarse.
“Repaying my debt”

Forgive Your Heart
Chapter 3: Surprises
Summary: You didn't think your next meeting with the Mandalorian would go like this...

Two weeks later…
It had been a long eventful week at the Medcenter, you were ready to kick your feet up and not move all weekend, the medcenter was practically overflowing with flu patients on top of the regular amount of blaster shot, stab wound, or mauling victims. It was the end of your shift, you slipped off your white coat and slung it over your forearm with your bag. You said your goodbyes to the other medics and ensured the head medic taking over knew exactly what was happening in your section. Walking out of the medcenter and making your way to your small apartment, you passed by several dark alley ways as you made your short journey, however something wasn’t setting right with you. A loud clunking noise came from the alley you were about to pass, a deep groan followed, you took a deep breath and reached behind and into your belt for your blaster. You made your way into the alley aiming the blaster ahead of you, you could vaguely make out something shiny, the glint from the streetlight was near blinding bouncing off of it. There was only one thing that came to mind.
“Mandalorian?”
You asked in near pitch black, the figure didn’t reply, it gripped the side of a garbage can to pull itself up. It was easier to make it out now, that was definitely him, no one could forget that armor.
“Where’s the kid? What are you doing back? It's not safe!”
“A-a-afe.”
“Still haven’t fixed that huh?”
The Mandalorian hunched over in pain, almost dropping to his knees right there, before he could you wrapped your arm around his torso. You mumbled out a quick ‘Take it easy’ then he pulled away from you, you set your coat and bag holding your hands out to him like he was an injured animal.
“You need treatment.”
“N-not -ere”
“Where then? If you don’t get help you’ll bleed out.”
“Oo mu-ch Att-ents-s-son”
You turned around to pick up your coat, showing it to him and kneeling down beside him to get a better look at his injuries. It was obviously a larger laceration on his left side right under his chest plate, but he still held his hand tightly over the wound, doing little to stop the blood from oozing out. You placed your hand over his, feeling him flinch at the touch but paid it no mind and continued what you were doing. Cupping his gloved hand you moved it away from the wound and reached around his waist, pressing the fabric to the wound and tying it as tight as you could, the coat quickly changing shades. As you stood you wrapped his right arm over your shoulder and picked up your bag from the ground.
“You wanna get back to your kid right? So don’t bleed out here.”
You nudged his foot with your own, trying to urge him to walk with you. His steps were heavy and haphazard, you had to adjust your footwork to help him walk. You knew this man would be heavy, heavier than you, but stars it was difficult to keep him upright. The armor added onto his weight but you assumed a lot of his weight also came from the muscle he had built up bounty hunting, you could feel his body bending and contracting with every step he took and every breath that left his body. As you approached your apartment the Mandalorian became slower, he was losing too much blood, he wouldn’t make it much further.
“C’mon just a bit further.”
Almost dragging him through the front door, he collapsed into the hallway, quickly closing and locking the door. You kneeled down next to him, wrenching your hands under him and turning him over, there was so much blood you needed to work quickly. Running to grab your spare med kit and towels from the bathroom and disinfecting your hands with alcohol in the sink, you went back to the unconscious man in your hallway. You untied your lab coat from his waist and peeled back some of his flight suit, his caramel skin visible to you know, the gash luckily didn’t go through any of his organs only tearing through the first layer of muscle. Examining the laceration for any debris thankfully finding none, you took a towel and folded it pressing firmly on his torso, even in his weakened state the man writhed beneath you, his hand came up to grip your wrist with enough strength to snap it. You winced but kept the pressure, you needed to stop the excessive bleeding before you could do anything else.
Once the bleeding slowed to a stop you removed the soaked cloth and cleaned the area around the cut revealing more of his skin to you. You poured alcohol on a large gauze and applied it around and in the wound and began preparing a needle and thread for stitches, threading the needle and dousing it with more alcohol. Taking a deep breath you leaned over, moving his torn flight suit more out of the way, you pushed the needle into his skin quickly. You could feel the jolt through his body, you mumbled a quiet apology but continued your work, pushing the needle in and out of his skin until the flesh was pulled back together. After cutting the last stitch free from the needle you reached up to his neck to feel for a pulse, finding a slow steady pulse your shoulders finally slumped from relief. You didn’t realize how tense you had been, rummaging through your kit you found a bacta pad large enough to cover the injured area. You did one final wipe of alcohol across his raised skin before applying the pad, you ran your fingers over the seams of the patch.
You arched your back with your hands on your hips, your back popping up your spine as you arched further. Looking at the digital clock on your wrist you sighed, it had only been about an hour and half since you left the medcenter, you put everything back in the kit and set it up on your kitchen counter.
“Alright big guy, let's get you up, yeah?”
You knelt back down looking over his visor, you grabbed the sides of his helmet, turning it side to side. He was still out cold, you’d have to get him up by yourself, scratching your head you thought of the best ways to move him at least out of the hallway. An idea shot through your head, you took the towel that wasn’t soaked in blood and layed it next to him, as gently as you could you pulled his shoulder off the floor and slid the towel under it and placed his shoulder back down. You repeated this with his other shoulder and moved down his torso, tucking the towel completely under him except for a portion at his head. You moved to stand over the Mandalorians head and reaching down to the towel under it, you braced your feet and began dragging his unconscious body out of your hallway and into your living room.
“Stars what is this man, a fucking hutt?”
You painted your palms resting against your knees, finally the Mandalorian was stable and you could finally have a fucking break. Walking into your room to wash up and change your bloodied clothes, as you pulled a fresh shirt over your head a question ran through your head that made you stop what you were doing and run back to the still comatose man on the floor. You shook his head back and forth and slapping his chestplate, after a minute he grabbed the arm that was holding his helmet, his voice still thick from sleep.
“I’m -wake.”
“Where’s the kid Mandalorian?”
He didn’t answer, his grip on your wrist loosening as he started drifting back into unconsciousness. You slapped the side of his head harshly, making him jolt back awake.
“Hey! Where’s the kid?”
“T-the sh-ship”
“Is he alone on your ship?”
“Y-y-y-yes”
“He’s in danger alone, they saw your ship, I need to find him before they do. Where’s the ship?”
“H-ow do I kn-now if I-I-I -an tru-ust yo-ou”
“You think I would’ve dragged you into my home if I planned on turning in the kid?”
He stayed quiet for a moment before giving you the console off his forearm armor and pressing his finger into one of the buttons on it. It started to blink steadily.
“-Ead you ther-er ”
“Alright, I’ll be quick, stay here and try not to bleed on my floor…more.”
You stood and grabbed your blaster out of your bathroom before exiting your home, the light on the console blinked faster the closer you made it to the ship, but it wasn’t that simple. Every time you got closer you’d come up on a dead end or troopers on night patrol, you decided a view from above would be the best way to find the Mandalorians ship. You climbed the ladder of a nearby ladder and followed the blinking light from atop the roof until you could spot a ship in the distance. It had been parked in an empty lot a bit close to the other buildings for your comfort but you assumed he was too weak to care where he landed. With a bit more pep in your step you made your way over to the ship, jumping over the gaps between the buildings until you were close enough to climb down. As you approached the old ship the door opened with a hiss and the ramp lowered, climbing up into the ship you searched for the kid.
“Are you in here buddy?”
You heard a small noise coming from the cockpit and climbed the ladder to follow the noise, the child was in his pram, he looked confused. You? You had almost forgotten hee could do that.
“Yeah hun, let’s get you to your dad.”
You tapped on the console and the pram started following you as you exited that ship, you could make it back home without the tracker in the Mandalorians suit. As you walked down the street you could hear troopers chatting amongst themselves, you stooped in your tracks and pressed against a wall behind a dumpster, shutting the pram.
“Did you hear something?”
“Must’ve been an animal in the trash or something.”
Your heart pounded in your chest, you could feel your pulse in your head, they were moving closer you needed to move.
“Hey! Who’s back there!?”

Forgive Your Heart
Chapter 2: A Goodbye
Summary: Who did this man think he was!?! Arrogant, selfish, narcissistic where only a few words that came to mind. So why did you help him?
A/n: I forgot to mention this is about at s1 ep3, they hadn't left Nevarro quiet yet but they flew to the other side of the planet to refuel and replenish supplies.

He hit the side of his helmet harshly, seeming to fix some malfunction with his hardware. At the same time the Mandalorian grabbed your collar and held you close to him by your lab coat, his stature was intimidating but you never let that faze you. You held your ground and kept your stare even and brows furrowed, his fist tightened noticing your lack of fear.
“I said, where's the kid?”
“I’m gonna need you to let go for me to answer you.”
Your hand came up to grip his covered wrist, squeezing it to emphasize your point. He must’ve taken this as a challenge because his grip never wavered, he only stared down at you. His other hand joined the first on the other side of your coat pulling your full chest into his chest plate, your other hand did the same now squeezing both his wrists with your own.
“Are you done with this little intimidation tactic? Or are you gonna explain to me who you’re talking about?
He hesitated then let you go with a light shove and a huff, you took a step back from the force he let you go with. The Mandalorian started digging something out of his pocket, you took this time to give him a proper once over, only from a quick glance up and down you could tell he endured heavy blaster fire from the discoloration to his armor, no dents though. He held something up, it looked like a tattered robe, one the little green child wore before it tore. You took it in your hands noticing it was in fact the same fabric the kid had worn. His voice skipped again and again until a clear sentence came out of his modulator.
“HE-HE-HE-He would be wearing something like this.”
“What is your relation to him, I might be able to help you.”
You didn’t look up from the fabric, instead choosing to inspect it for anything suspicious, flipping it over you find a few drops of blood and a tear in the fabric next to it.
“What happened to hi- Hey!”
Before you were allowed to finish the armored man shoved past you beginning to look through rooms, disturbing not only the patients but your medics as well. You passed by many, asking if you needed any help, you declined. You turned him to you by his shoulder and nearly yelled at him before regaining your composure.
“You can’t just barge into patients' rooms! This is not a place to bounty hunt!”
He only stood, not bothering to look your way before continuing his search, the woman he barged in on nearly had a heart attack seeing him in her door. The Mandalorian was about to open yet another door before he was interrupted by the strong yank from the back collar of his cape that sent him backwards, he took two steps to collect his balance then he was on you shoving you against a door in a similar fashion to your first encounter. The door gave way with his shove but he was quick to adapt, pushing you against the joining wall inside the room and holding you there with both his fists balled in your lab coat. You felt the air leave your lungs from his harsh handling, coughing you glared up at the unyielding figure above you, the way you squeezed his wrists you hoped would leave a bruise. Before either of you could speak a small coo made its way through the room, you both looked over the Mandalorians shoulder seeing the child stood up on the cot. ‘Oh shit’ you thought, it slipped your mind how close the kids' room actually was. Almost immediately he let go of you and moved to the kid, taking a much softer tone than his previous one, however that didn’t help the busted modulator.
“Ere- ou are”
He scooped up the child in his arms, he tucked him in the crook of his elbow as you hunched over, taking a few deep breaths to steady yourself. The child cooed at you and the man stopped and turned around, you looked up from your hunched position glaring at the tall Mandalorian. As he tried exiting the door, the child struggled in his grasp, the man let out a groan and eventually set the kid down. You could hear his little feet pitter patter as they made their way to you, he tackled your leg in a strong hug, well as strong as it could be for such a little guy. No matter how angry you were with his guardian, you could never stay mad at a face like his, especially when he looked up at you like you were his savior. A smile once again graced your face as you knelt down to his level, the Mandalorian only watched as you lifted the child into your arms. His clawed hand came out to rub across your cheek. Thank you. Your eyes widened in slight shock, the voice was no longer a vague echo in your head, it was clear to you now this is how he was communicating.
“You’re welcome, sweetheart.”
Your voice was kind and gentle, with a slight rasp from still being out of breath, the child cooed in your arms. You could hear the Mandalorian messing with his helmet, taps and near silent beeps going off from inside the helmet, you turned your gaze up to meet his visor.
“We need to leave.”
That was the first sentence you could make out clearly from his modulator, he made his way over to the two of you, gently taking the child out of your arms and into his. For a brief moment there was peace between the three of you, until that peace was interrupted by the sound of heavy footsteps marching down the hallway. The Madalorian looked through the glass door and quickly shut it after seeing what was going on outside, he turned off the lights in the room as well, only leaving the shielded light of the hallway. Confused you took a small peak outside through the curtains as he did, were those storm troopers? Why was the Empire on Nevarro? You looked to the man next to you, his arm flying past your head to close the curtain, you stepped closer whispering to him to not draw attention.
“Ok, tell me what the hell is going on!”
“It’s none of your concern.”
“Don’t give me that shit Mandalorian! Are they here for the kid or you or what?! Get talking!”
You could hear the leather of his gloves stretching as he balled his fists, he let out an irritated groan, you folded your arms in front of yourself and stared up at him. You could feel your blood pressure rising every second he stayed quiet until eventually he mumbled out a quiet ‘Dank farrik’.
“He’s a bounty."
You stared up at his helmet trying your best to hold back your sarcastic comment of ‘Wow really I couldn’t tell from the platoon of troopers in my Medcenter!’ instead you waved your hand in a small circle trying to get more information than ‘A Bounty’.
“He was my bounty, I-I-I-I saved him.”
“I’m taking a shot in the dark and assuming that’s why you sound like a misfiring speeder bike.”
He only nods at your little jab and presses against the wall upon hearing more stormtroopers talking out in the hallway. You think to yourself for a moment weighing the pros and cons of helping this prick, how could you know if he was really helping the kid? Or if he wasn’t just going to get them both killed? Another coo snapped you out of your thoughts, you looked up to meet the child's big eyes, you let out a loud aggravated noise and spoke sternly to the Mandalorian stepping closer to him.
“Do exactly what I tell you and you two might get out of here unscathed. Understand?”
The man nods again, not much of a talker huh? You explained your plan to the man, he would hide in this room until you could clear out the stormtroopers, and if anyone came in the room he’d hide in the linen closet until they left. You slipped out of the door and back to your medic station finding most of the troopers there, they seemed to intimidate your other medics into their station. When you got closer one of the troopers stopped you.
“Halt, we’re looking for an escaped prisoner. We need you to stay in this area.”
“Under whose authority should I stay here? You have no business causing so much panic in this place, all of you need to vacate immediately.”
Your voice raised a bit at your last statement to ensure every stormtrooper could hear you. They parted as a man walked down the hallway, an older man with a gold pendant hanging from his neck. ‘Great another problem’ you thought to yourself, the man made his way to you and stopped just short of you he speaks.
“I apologize for making such a ruckus, you see, I’m looking for a very important asset.”
“I really couldn’t give less of a shit what or who you’re looking for but you won’t find him here. So leave my Medcenter, now.”
The older man turned with a slight smirk on his face about to step away before turning back around to face you.
“Did you say…’him’?”
You tried to not show your shock ‘Shitshitshit’ there were blasters pointed at you before you could respond. Your brows furrowed as you glared at him raising your hands, you took a small glance around, there were five storm troopers pointing their blasters at you and undoubtedly more on their way.
“Lower your weapons. Now.”
You whipped your head around to see the head medic of the trauma unit holding a blaster to the older man's head. A few bounty hunters and medics joined him in pointing their blasters at the troopers around you, you couldn’t help the smirk growing on your face as you spoke.
“You really thought the medics on a planet like Nevarro wouldn’t have blasters? I’d do as he says, unless you wanna lose your troopers.”
The old man let out a huff and waved his hand, the stormtroopers lowered their weapons and began walking down the hallway to the exit. Before they had all retreated the man stayed where he was, he gave you an uneasy feeling, as he looked you over.
“You can’t hide the asset forever.”
You pulled out your own blaster that was holstered in your belt, aiming it between his eyes, and spoke with all the confidence you could muster.
“Go.”
He turned around and went out the exit, the remaining troopers followed after him. As soon as you knew the coast was clear you almost sprinted to the kids room, sliding through the door to find it already empty. Your shoulders were tense as you looked through the closet, there was no sign of them. You ran out the room and through another exit to find a ship taking off in the distance, it had only just entered the atmosphere. You had a feeling in your gut telling you that was the kids ship, your shoulders slouched in relief, hoping that they made it out unnoticed. You couldn’t help but feel a sense of sadness, you didn’t get to see him off, or make sure he was ok, but if he was with that Mandalorian you knew he’d be safer.
“Bye bye little man.”
You couldn’t tell if it was your head or your heart that told you, you’d see them again, and you were right.

Forgive Your Heart
Chapter 1: The Encounter
Summary: Nevarro was never a place for surprises after you had come accustomed to it's unyielding atmosphere of danger, however a small green child just might change your view on this planet.
A/n: I've seen so many fics that often either poorly portray chubby bodies or just make the readers thin and dainty and so I'm taking matters into my own hands. :)
I have watched all of the Mandalorian but not many Star Wars movies so excuse me if I use improper lingo but I will do my best to research things I'm not sure of.

Nevarro was a shithole. That was known not only throughout the planet but throughout the outer rim, it was where they needed your help the most, that's why you’re here. Being a medic was never going to be easy no matter what planet you decided to work on, but Nevarro was another level of filth. The bounties, the bounty hunters, thieves, scammers etc. were all on Nevaro, you cursed your kind and giving heart, you wanted to give what you could see people thrive in this decrepit place. Constant blaster shot cases and near dead bounties were never uncommon at your Medcenter, it’s practically what kept the lights on in the place, and being the head medic of your station made the atmosphere much more daunting.
Snapping out of your daze and drawing your attention to a shouting patient, and making your way over to see what the fuss was about. He was yelling on and on about someone getting away that ‘I’m gonna kill that son of a bitch!’ and ‘He’ll never get off this planet alive!’ a male bounty hunter from the looks of it, various weapons and ammunition hanging off his struggling body to get off the gurney one of your Medics was pinning him down on. As you slightly jogged alongside the gurney making your way to the operating table, you put your hand on the man's shoulder pushing him against the gurney making his head jerk your way. You needed to stay calm.
“Sir, we need you to take some deep breaths and calm down so we can do our job.”
“To hell with your job! That bastard’s gonna die! Today!”
When you tried to speak again the man tried and failed to knock you and your medic to the ground, you yelled for assistance from passing medics asking them to get and IV started while you held his arm down as well as getting 20mg of morphine to try and calm the man down. You pinned down his arm with the help of the other medics, he writhed under your grasp as the IV was inserted into his arm, the morphine quickly made its way through his body helping calm his nerves and lessen his pain. As you entered the operating room you were greeted by the head medic of the trauma unit.
“I’ll take care of this, you’ve done plenty already by drugging my patient.”
“Hey, if i hadn-”
You were cut off by the operating door before you could finish your defense, your fists balled tightly at your sides as you walked down the hallway leading back to the medic station. You noticed something odd, it looked like a burlap sack you’d take with you to the market. You made your way closer and noticed the sack sprouted two long green ears, was this someone's kid? Once you had reached the child you knelt down with an outstretched hand and spoke in a soft voice.
“Are you lost hun? Do you need help finding your parents?”
Two massive black eyes stared back at you when the child turned around, you had never seen anyone like him, he only stared at you and looked down at the ends of his robe that draped on the ground. The hallway was getting busier as you stayed there in the middle of it, you gently scooped up the kid and made your way to the side of the hallway out of everyone's way. He gripped your lab coat and whined out, something clicked in you, vaguely you could hear a voice in your head. Hurt. You looked at the child and he stared back at you once again, you noticed he only held your jacket with one of his clawed hands, carefully you took his small hand in yours and examined it. A simple cut, something that could’ve been fixed at his home with a med patch, maybe he thought it was a bigger cut than it is?
“Let’s get this taken care of, yeah? You wanna choose a cool med patch?”
You began listing all the cool patterns of kids' med patches to him, rocket ships, rainbows, camouflage, glitter etc. Entering the supply closet with the little green child in your arms you dug out the med patches you had listed and held them out for him to choose from, you’d have to cut them down to his size of course, he was so tiny you couldn’t help but feel a bit protective over him even if it had been only two minutes since you met him. His big eye scanned over the patches his eyes landed on a patch that had droids in a pattern with a blue background. He pointed at the same patch and looked up at you with a little grin, another vague voice ran through your head, Him. You let a warm smile grace your features, handing the patch to him to hold and putting the rest away, you make your way into a vacant examination room and shut the door. Setting the child on the cot and turning around to pull the scissors out of your pocket to cut the patch to fit his tiny hand. Moving across the cot to sit on the rolling stool, you held out your hand silently asking for permission to see the cut, he placed his hand back into yours. You placed the patch onto his hand and let out a disappointed sigh.
“Hang on, I have to cut it a bit smaller buddy, your hands are so small I have to make sure it fits properly. ”
Taking the patch back you once again cut off slivers so it would fit his small hand, you took off the plastic backing of the patch and firmly placed the sticky side against his skin. You ran your hand around the border of it to ensure it was secure on his hand. He looked up at you and cooed, that voice made its way in your head, Kind. You gave his head a simple pat and rubbed his cheek as you stood.
“How about you stay here for a bit ok? I’ll see if I can find your parents.”
He gripped the bottom portion of your lab coat and looked up at you, he seemed agitated Dangerous. The voice was a bit louder this time you could feel anxiety in the voice, was he doing this? Does he know he can? You set your hand on his head once more, smiling down at him and pulling the blanket on the cot closer to him, making a small nest for him to comfortably lay in. He still held your wrist, not wanting you to leave, but you still can’t tell if he’s scared for you or for himself.
“It’ll be ok, I promise sugar. I’ll be back in a few minutes. How about that?”
Slowly he let your wrist go, as you made your way out of the room you mentioned again you'd be right back and closed the door. You quickly made your way back to your computer at the medic station, searching through files and profiles of all patients and employees. You had searched for nearly 10 minutes before rolling away from the desk and running your hands over your face with a defeated sigh. You raked your hands through your hair and scanned the people coming and going through the hallways, your eyes landed on an armor clad figure, the T shaped visor already pointed at you. A Mandalorian? He made his way over to you, parting the crowd with little effort. You stood and made your way around the desk to meet the beskar clad man, you had a feeling in your gut but couldn’t tell if it was to run or to trust him. His body language was clearly agitated, balled fists at his sides, looking through the crowd almost frantically. He tilted his head down to meet your gaze.
“Can I help you with something?”
“WheR- s K-d”
“Excuse me?”
