Character analysis
Nick
Personal training is about improving people. Helping them reach their fitness and lifestyle goals and coaching them to adopt effective exercise principles that will stick for the long-haul. It makes sense that we’re all most likely to do business and build effective relationships with people we have a connection with. In a nutshell like attract like and your clients will be drawn to a personal trainer they find genuinely likeable and a certain natural kinship to. He is also determined to succeed There’s a lot of good waiting for you on the other side of tired. Get yourself tired. This shows how if you aren’t gating tired then you were not trying. Not trying is not giving it your all and being determined to succeed in this sport. However, nick expressed how if you do not try you will not earn your blessing.
Pete
I tell the players: You'll hear a lot of applause in your life, fellas, but none will mean more to you than that applause-from your peers. I hope each of you hears that at the end. Pete demonstrated how his life is a blessing because he knows what’s important in his life and what’s not. Knowing that hearing crowds screaming his name doesn’t mean that much but knowing that his peers are supporting means way more to him. This is because he is grateful for the people in his life. The ones that help him through the tough times. this is a good trait because he should not let his fame and success get ahead of his family, the origins of all of the things in his life originally came from his peers and family. “It’s not like me to want a win this badly. What I normally feel is a desire not to lose. But warming up before my first-rounder, I tell myself I want this, and I realize precisely why. It’s not about my comeback. It’s about my team. My new team, my real team. I’m playing to raise money and visibility for my school. After all these years I’ve got what I’ve always wanted, something to play for that’s larger than myself and yet still closely connected to me. Something that bears my name but isn’t about me.”This shows how Pete is wise because he doesn’t think of what he’s receiving but he thinks about what he’s going to do with the money. He think outside the box, Pete doesn’t care about the game and cares way more about the children in need of facilities like fresh water and necessities for living standards.
Gil
Gil is a very supportive person in Andre’s life. He represented a father figure in his life because his father was more demanding and didn’t care emotionally about him. Gil is supportive because he shows how he wants Andre too succeed In his dreams and passions. Knowing you can do something is often more important than actually being able to do it. Having the belief can make it true, and although you can never know what came first, the chicken or the egg, often it’s what you believe and thus act that makes things real.
Part of being able to help other people with their problems is being able to empathize with what they are feeling. When you are helping other people with their problems, it is always important to validate their feeling that is to help them understand why it is ok to feel what they are feeling. Then, you can help them to think about the situation differently
JP
“I made it look so easy on court all those years. No one realised how hard I had to work. No one realised how much I had to put into it. They underestimated my intensity. “this shows how he isn't showing off but being honest with how much work was put into getting to that point in his life. JP expresses how his life wasn’t just handed to him but more like worked for every day of his life just to be in this position today. You don’t realize how much that is sacrificed and is given up, not just from yourself but from everyone around. JP shows his gratitude toward his lifestyle today and remind himself of the thing he had to do to get to this point in his life where he can have less stress. His life is a prime example of this trait.
Philly
Philly is a very compassionate person for several reasons. Andre and Philly experienced similar problems as children facing there demanding fathers. They talked about it all the time philly was always there for Andre. When Andre received the endorsement to Nike, philly was there helping him through it. He even gave money to Andre to go but clothes. This shows how he is very compassionate toward him because he does not hesitate to give him money and spend a lot of time with him. A bond as strong philly and Andre is filled with true friendship and compassion.

Does the media use female athletes discussion
The athletes definitely use the media for personal growth and a source of income. Women have been waiting a long time to be treated fairly in society, and in sports it’s no different. Women in sports have to constantly battle against the notion that nobody wants to watch them. Despite this, they don’t stop playing. In fact, every time they go out on the court or on the field, they give it their all knowing full well that their best will likely go unnoticed. They play because they love it, not because of the glory or possibility that they’ll make millions. Because it is likely, they won’t. As I’ve thought about it more, part of the solution to women’s sports receiving more coverage comes down to us not being afraid to demand for more. If the media was using the women to create revenue and the women did not create and my major profit then I think that the women would have stopped the media from even doing little articles and photoshoots of them. Women use the media to gain fame and more connections so that they can create a living from the media. If you look online many people do the wildest things like stealing from stores and telling phrases, going viral over small conflicts. These people use the media to create a sustainable lifestyle for themselves just by creating and giving content to the media sources. Therefore the athletes use the media for revenue and personal gain rather than the media using the athletes.

The thesis of this article is Analyzing Female Apologetic Behaviour in Women's sport.
I agree with the thesis for countless reasons. The thesis states that the women are being judged on the sport that they play and if the sports are more “masculine based”. The media portrays the women using different techniques to grab attention from others by using body figure and behavioral changes in clothing and attitude for revenue. This video shows how the women athletes are shown to endorse this change in behavior and not set a good example for younger women athletes. Maria Sharapova with $23 million in endorsements and $6 million in tennis winnings last year, Sharapova is the highest paid female athlete in the entire world. Endorsements with Nike, Evian, Samsung, TAG Heuer, Porsche and Cole Haan make up the majority of her income. This endorsing and advertising using the athletes body figure is not good because it shows how her own body is making more money then her actual career and it is astonishing to think that people are willing to pay more just to see her be discriminated and sexualized than actually playing her sport.

Title IX
Title IX is an Education Amendments Act of 1972.it is a federal law that states that no person in the United States based on sex shall be excluded from participation and be denied the benefits or be subjected to discrimination under any education program. An argument that is used is, does the equality for women come at the price of Male expenses and also that title ix brings injuries and stress. This puts forward that the women who are apart of these teams are being trained so much that they are physically incapable of dealing with the stress and pressure that comes with the training and education. The women are being trained equally as men and is shown to be harder due to all the stress formation occurring in the women. However the women also can be dealing with abuse from the trainers and coaches because it isnt just a couple of women who are injured but more like several of the women are being treated horribly and physically abused which leads to the trainers being abusive towards the the women. The evidence provided from the article is that it talks about the one lady who is dealing with a lot of stress and it is coming from the coaches. This is 1st hand witness of the abuse that is being afflicted upon the women playing the sports.I don’t validate the stance of the article for several reasons. A reason why I don’t validate it is because it talks about that men will eventually lose out of power, influence, impact, authority, and control, and economic opportunities and Many people believe that several women want to control the world and put men down. However the law is there because they wanted to have equality between both the women and men. It explains why they are receiving the equal amount of education that men receive and then switched to how they are become stressed from the education and practices which they wanted to receive. Thus the reason that I don’t don't approve of the stance.

The part of the article where its says that the meme “lebronto” is directed only towards one certain person. I strongly disagree because the meme was only created as a joke and was targeted to Toronto Raptor's fans although drake is a huge supporter of the Raptors doesn’t mean he was targeted. The meme was originally from a late night sport commentator named Mike Jones that created the lebronto phrase. Mike Jones is also a local neighbor. He lives and works in Toronto for ESPN and has no correlation with drake. You’re out in the world saying you believe in something, and thereby risk looking stupid when that something doesn’t reward that belief. The players make millions of dollars. They can’t ‘lose’. Only their supporters can. This person is stating that to be a fan you risk looking stupid and not earning any money. Being a true fan is always cheering the team on even when they don't succeed. It isn’t about what you receive and looking stupid or not, it’s about encouragement towards the people. I disagree with this persons opinion. The author also expresses how drake is the number one fan for the Raptors and no one else is as big of a fan. However there is a man by the name of nav bahtia which was given the name super fan because he goes to every raptor's game and get courtside seats every time. There are several different articles and sport channels interviewing him. Drake isn’t considered the biggest fan because he is payed to perform on the Saturday OVO night games. Fans will love to perform for free but he uses the Raptors as a source of income.

Gender and Sex
Biological Sex
Either of two divisions, male and female, into which most organisms are grouped. Sex is usually determined by anatomy, the makeup of the chromosomes, and the type and amount of hormones produced. It is determined at birth.
Gender identity
It is the personal feeling of being a man, a woman. Some people don’t identify as being either a man or a woman. They may feel that this system doesn’t offer a complete description of who they are. Gender identity and sex usually match, but not always.
Sex role
refers to biological differences for example the differences in the persons chromosomes, hormonal profiles, internal and external sex organs. A sex role includes a number of normative expectations about how one should behave as male or female.
Sexual orientation
Sexual orientation is about who you're attracted to and who you feel drawn to romantically emotionally and/or sexually., these attractions can define a person sexual orientation as homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, pansexual, queer or asexual.
"Intersex “is a general term used for a variety of conditions in which a person is born with a reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn't seem to fit the typical definitions of female or male. Third gender means someone who identifies as neither male nor female. Androgynous is a person who has a combination of masculine and feminine characteristics. Bisexual is someone who experiences sexual attraction towards both genders and Asexual is someone who identifies no sexual attraction.
In the slideshow about gender and sexuality it mentions that LGBT students hear homophobic slurs 26 times on a day, 26% of LGBT youth are kicked out of their homes, making it more common for LGBT youth to become homeless. 30% of all suicides were committed by LGBT youth and 43% of all trans-identified individuals have attempted suicide in their lives. Statistics from the first link below states that 70% of all students have heard homophobic comments and slurs from other students and 10% of LGBT students have heard homophobic comments from teachers. Trans students seem to be the most vulnerable to verbal, physical and sexual harassment and 64% of all LGBT students have stated that they’ve felt unsafe in school. When reading another website called stonewall it’s been stated that 20% staff members have heard degrading remarks about LGBT people and 10% treat their colleagues poorly because of theirsexuality or gender identity. 1 in 5 LGBT individuals have experienced a hate crime in the past 12 months. The article also states that in 72 countries homosexuality is illegal, 27 of them applies to only male couples while the other 45 apply to both male and female couples. The statistics that stood out the most to me personally was that 40% of gay male students have experienced sexual harassment while 33% of lesbians have also experienced it. Also the fact that there are countries only criminalize male couples instead of both stood out to me because it seems that the males seem to have it harder in these 2 cases than the females when usually it would be the other way around.
Statistics from http://mygsa.ca/setting-gsa/homophobia-transphobia-statistics

Point about people
Dutee Chand
• Dutee Chand has hyperandrogenism, a condition in which her body naturally produces testosterone above the 10 nmol/L limit.
• Rather than submit to surgery or medication to suppress testosterone, she challenged the IAAF rule and filed a claim with the CAS to continue competing as a woman without altering her hormonal balance.
• Chand was banned from competition because she is hyper androgenic which means her body naturally produces levels of testosterone that exceed the International Association of Athletics Federation’s upper limit for female athletes.
• Chand won the bronze in the 200 metres event at the Asian Championships in Pune. The year also saw her become the first Indian to reach the final of a global athletics 100 metres final.
• She is the third Indian woman to ever qualify for the Women's 100 metres event at the Summer Olympic Games

• Semenya was upgraded to gold after Mariya Savinova was stripped of her 800m title at the 2012 London Olympic Games after being found guilty of doping
David Epstein
• David Epstein is a journalist and an award winning writer better known as the author of the book “The sports gene”, talking about the physical differences between men and women and that men are generally faster and stronger than women so unisex sports events would not be an effective solution for athletic pursuits and he acknowledges that sex isn’t binary so it would be difficult to draw a clear line between a man and a woman.
• He’s important because his research into the anatomy and genetic build up of people helps humanity as a whole draw a line between the two main sexes.
• concept means that people have begun to understand it and now they must implement it as a harmful ideology.
• his discussion ranges from the east African distance runners to the prevalence of the sickle-cell gene in west African sprinters.
Biological racism
• Biological racism is the concept that women aren’t supposed to be strong and those that are have something wrong with them. Although racism is used to describe prejudices against other ethnicities, this racism is used to describe the prejudices against the human race.
• This is important because this concept of thinking is harmful to society as it implies women that are stronger and faster than the average aren’t normal and have something wrong with them.
•biological racism is directed to physical properties from birth and is used to discourage and discriminate people.

Boxing girls of kabul
Text to text
Athletes can come from a wide variety of different backgrounds and walks of life. Some are born rich with everything could have ever wanted, some are born middle class and others are born into poverty and need to fight for everything they have. Toorpakai is a Pakistani squash player. She has a truly remarkable story . As she rose to a notable position in her sport, she caught the attention of the Taliban. She received threats from the Taliban. So for her protection, she remained trapped in her home practicing squash in her bedroom for four years. During that time, she wrote every famous squash player she could think of; finally, Jonathon Power responded and she joined him to train in Canada. Similar to the boxing girls of kabul, toorpakai hasn’t been giving the proper training that a pro athlete is needed and should have just like the girls of kabul. They cannot improve their boxing to the best of their abilities due to their lack in training and poor environment conditions and equipment. They girls say they don't even have a boxing ring to practice in. Maria Toorpakai has written a autobiography called A different kind of daughter.
Text to self
The struggle of the boxing girls in kabul relates to my life because the girls were harrassed and threatened by several people while in In the Muslim society of Pakistan, it is not easy for the young women to pursue their sport. Not only do many families reject boxing women, but the Taliban, which is active in parts of Pakistan, also threaten women who live un-Islamic in their eyes. Similar to things I experienced in my life because growing up I was told to be this, hang out with those people, and told to become something that people wanted me to be. However I wanted to be something else in life and not keep my mouth closed and experess my self with out caring what others think. I was harrassed by many people who hated what I’ve become and what I had but th as t sid not stop me from being me. The girls were threatened while boxing but they did not stop playing the sport.
Text to world
The Pakistan girls faced horrible problems that are very similar to the one that are all around us. The world is full of poverty and isn’t given the gold standard to everyone. The world show the 1 percent of people in this world who have everything in life. The fast cars, the big mansion, the wealthy jobs, the genetically impossible wife, and the other 99 percent how don’t have that isn’t portrayed in the world or helped. These girls box with out boxing rings and practice in very low standard arenas with no proper uniform or shoes. However there are people in the world who pay for these thing with out even thinking about the gratitude towards them. The girls of Pakistan go through hard times just like several of the 99 percent of the population.many countries cant even get proper housing rather equipment.

There's good reason for skepticism. The Raptors' bench will be less of a strength in the playoffs, where rotations tighten. They have a lot of young players who generally underperform in the playoffs, and yet their veteran stars have a history of underperforming in the playoffs as well. LeBron and the Cavs look reinvigorated. All that said, I'm not sold on the Cavs yet. They have a lot of new players. They have to keep things simple by necessity because these guys haven't played together. That makes for a predictable offense that teams can prepare for. It's even a bigger handicap on defense, where even if you have good defenders you also need great teamwork. This is admittedly an extension of the above, but Toronto has two exceptionally talented offensive players. That means that when they're not running a pick and roll, they're setting picks in order to get the matchups they want, then running isolation plays. While 30% of the Raptors' plays are pick and rolls, 28% are spot ups or isos. Those are simply 1-on-1 situations. Thankfully, the Cavaliers are pretty good at stopping 1-on-1s. I'll be very interested to see how well they play against playoff teams in the remainder of the season.

One reason to tell family and friends about your mental illness is to receive encouragement. Simply talking to someone sympathetic can reduce your stress level and improve your mood. You may also want to ask for concrete support, like help finding treatment or rides to appointments. Or maybe you want to share your crisis plan with a trusted family member. Maybe you have mixed feelings. You might be afraid loved ones will judge you or feel uncomfortable around you. It can be very stressful if you're afraid to tell people but feel pressure to do so.There's no right or wrong number of people to tell. Some people will benefit from telling many family and friends. Others may benefit by telling a couple of close friends and waiting to tell others. You are an expert on your own mental illness and can decide for yourself. When athletes open up to people online it can help other get through the same problems and shows the fans that they are not alone. That’s why it is so important, so crucial for athletes to open up about mental health.

Open assignment
1) Now that I know roughly who I am, I want to close my eyes and hide from it means that andre realized that he had no other option in life other than becoming a pro tennis player even though his despise The sport. Since he does not like playing the sport he says he want to close his eyes and hide from it. This showcases that agassi doesn’t want to become a pro tennis player because he doesn’t wants to hide from playing the sport. The first chapter call the end shows that he did not know who he is as a person until after he wrote the autobiography because it says now that I know roughly who I am showcases ge did not know who hes really was until he was done with tennis. He needs to hide because he doesn’t want to be that person anymore and deal with the pressure being put on him by his father for tennis. He wants to hide from it because agassi hates being a tennis player.
2) Play tennis for a living even though I hate tennis, hate it with a dark and secret passion and always have." why would a great sportsman hate his sport? Why wouldn't he love everything about it and all it brings to his life . For example, travel, glamour, money, mass adoration, endless free tennis rackets and barley water, not to mention the surely sustaining thought that he is doing something for a living that makes many of us sick with envy? It’s because tennis is more than just a job, it take over his life. Every decision you make, tennis is at the back of your mind. That's the main reason for burnout among tennis players in their 20s. Andre going to school or skipping has a consequence on his tennis practice. A terrible fear of failure is one reason the life of the sports star can be rather less than the realisation of a beautiful dream. But there are others: intense training schedules, endless travel, boredom and lack of privacy.
3)Andre Agassi's father shaped who he is today due to his intensive training and pressure. Since his father was forcing him to play tennis over and over for years he developed a strong dislike for the game, yet was forced to come to terms with it. It’s an aspect that continues to nag him to this day.but the tough and brutal training shapes how he acts in the future for several reasons. One reason that it shaped him is that he finds in himself an appreciation for what his father had forced upon him. Agassi grew up in a modest setting, and he found himself, as a junior player, unintentionally working up a revenue for the family based on Mike gambling on Agassi’s matches.this can also be shown through a reference from the text where aggasi talks about how bos fathers brutal training paid off. “My journey started with my father betting on me at Las Vegas. My family didn’t have much, but we always had what we needed. And he would risk it all the time and bet on me. There is the pressure and anxiety of it. But the other part feels the pride of it: Your father believes in you.”
4)The connection andre agassi and Perry had was that they were very close friends and met through tennis. Both Perry and agassi's fathers were into pro tennis and acted similar in their trainings. Andre began to compete and train with Perry at a very young age. Perry met andre while they were spectating a game and became close friends. Due to their fathers extreme training they both hated tennis but talk a lot about tennis. Andre and Perry had a lot of things in common. For instance, agassi and Perry both enjoyed horror movies so the began to watch them together. One of the biggest connections that andre and Perry share is that theey both had dads that treated them like property so they made a pact to "be each other's father" because their dads didn't raise them like one. So bother friends became father figures to each other and were there for each other.
5) The court andre Agassi trained on was the Bolliteri Tennis Academy. He hated the court and the equipment. On the website it talks about the greatest materials and equipment but in reality he was training on some old courts and with a machine that didn’t shoot every ball straight. The machine was called the monster. They trained the people there like they were in bootcamp but online it shows very nice and calm training. He also called the academy a prison or a cell. The food is also as bad as garbage and shouldn't be eaten however, the website say they have fine dining.
6)I have way more sympathy for andre agassi rather then his brother because andre has a bad bone in his body which injures him as he plays and his father forces him to keep playing and doesn’t care about Andre’s health. His education is also being deprived of so that he can play tennis which he hates playing. Imagine getting forced to play a sport you hate. That is why I show sympathy towards him. Whereas his brother has less sympathy because in the book its says that andre it the last hope and that his father didn’t care too much about him. That is shown because when andre hits the balls and his brother was done his father would force him to keep hitting the ball afterwards. Andre also had more restrictions than his brother because andre had to keep continuing his tennis till he was the best whereas his brother wasn’t pushed and hard as andre. The sympathy goes out to andre Agassi because his father forced a lifestyle he did not want on him with no options while his brother had more freedom to choose what he wanted to be in life.

Activity 4
Matt Brown has a career in professional mixed martial arts (MMA). That's not exactly the healthiest sport, considering that MMA requires repeated blows to the head.
• had a concussion last year for the first time
•Matt brown had several problems with communication and speech impediments
• his balance and automation were effected after several blows to the head. He was known to trip and fall often due to the head injuries
• the series of alarming events has forced Brown to change his diet, as well as his approach to training -- he does not spar as much
• he now treats his brain like a muscle, exercising it with computer games and puzzles to stay mentally fresh
• Had suicidal thoughts due to concussion
•After his fight with Jake Ellenberger, Matt recalled having serious post-concussion symptoms, often slurring speech and having trouble with short-term memory. His wife, Colleen Brown, has also stated that Matt's memory is "not as sharp as it once was". He stated he has doubts continuing to fight due to his concussion. Months later he was knocked out by Donald Cerrone.
•The key is getting out once the symptoms start. I hope Matt Brown considers other career paths. The dude has put on many firefights for our entertainment, but I don't want to watch his fights in future. And I’m hoping the guy doesn't get hurt purely because of his health.
•I think we all recognize that it's unavoidable in doing this but if I were to tell them a few things to attempt to limit it.
• Be smart about your sparring. It doesn't have to be a war in the gym every time. Doesn't need to happen as often as was once the prevailing thought
• Limit your weight cutting. If what I've heard is to be believed, the brain takes much longer to rehydrate than the rest of the body
• Fight smart. The 'blood and guts' style of fighting is extremely transient. Remember, if you actually want to be a good fighter then part of that is in getting hit as little as possible.
• The leading cause of CTE are mild sub concussive blows to the head. So the only real way is to limit the amount of hits you take to the head. So basically you have to limit sparring, especially heavy sparring.

https://www.emedicinehealth.com/concussion/article_em.htm
• Concussions are a growing concern, not only in the National Hockey League, but in the wider community.
• Researchers differentiate between sport concussions and non-sport concussions, and there are considerable differences between the two in terms of the focus of research, the terminology used and the preferred outcomes of investigation.
• Exchange of ideas and cooperation between researchers of sport and non-sport concussion will enrich the overall knowledge and treatment of mild brain injuries.
• Symptoms or signs as outlined above after a suspected or diagnosed head injury or concussion that occurs during or after a return to activity.
• Any signs or symptoms consistent with brain injury or postconcussion syndrome, including one or more of the following: headache, light-headedness, loss of balance, unsteadiness
https://www.clinicaladvisor.com/hospital-medicine/concussions/article/599891/
• For 90% of patients, the symptoms of concussion resolve after 2 weeks. Ongoing symptoms of headache, fatigue, insomnia, dizziness, irritability, mood disturbance, apathy, or personality changes may signal post-concussion syndrome, which requires further evaluation and management by a neurologist
• A concussion isn’t visible from the outside, and you can’t see it with standard imaging tools like MRI and CAT scans
• When the brain is hit, microtubules that act like train tracks for proteins to shuttle back and forth can get broken, dropping the cargo, which potentially builds up as protein plaques.
• demanding (e.g., heavy housecleaning, weightlifting/working-out) or require a lot of concentration (e.g., balancing your checkbook). They can make your symptoms worse and slow your recovery.
• The most common causes of concussions are sports injuries (football, hockey, rugby, basketball, etc.), bicycle accidents, car accidents, and falls
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3208826/
• Depending on the nature of the injury, its severity, treatment received, and many other factors, a head wound can result in permanent brain damage that causes an impairment lasting the rest of your natural life.
• A person with a head injury may later experience a seizure which, in turn, causes further damage to the brain.
• protect against skull fracture and sever traumatic brain injury, there is very little evidence that a particular brand of helmet reduces the incidence of concussion. Mouthguards, too.
• No two concussions are identical. Our research has identified six different clinical trajectories for concussion.
• concussions increases the risk for depression.
Depression is a mental disorder that affects how someone feels, thinks and acts. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems that can decrease a person’s ability to function at work and at home. Symptoms can include a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed, changes in appetite, sleeping issues and even thoughts of death or suicide. Surveys of retired professional athletes provide some evidence that a history of multiple concussions increases the risk for depression. The researchers found an increasing linear relationship between history of concussion and diagnosis of lifetime depression. Compared with retired players with no history of concussion, retired players who had 3 or more concussions were 3 times more likely to have been diagnosed with depression. Those with a history of one or two previous concussions were 1.5 times more likely to have been diagnosed with depression. a mild concussion is characterized by no loss of consciousness and a headache. The patient will likely also suffer some minor memory loss or confusion. Mild concussion symptoms usually go away within 15 to 30 minutes from the time of the incident, but can last over the next few days. The best solution is to take it easy for the time being. Avoid doing anything strenuous until all of the concussion symptoms are gone. This includes anything that requires a lot of concentration as well, such as a puzzle. With a moderate concussion, symptoms usually last about 30 minutes to a day. However, like a mild concussion, they can potentially last up to a few days with lingering effects, such as an extended headache. In addition, a patient can sometimes lose consciousness for up to 5 minutes with this type of concussion. Usually, moderate concussions can be treated with pain medication after the first half hour. However, the patient should be monitored for at least 24 hours to make sure the symptoms don’t get worse. If they do, consult a doctor. severe concussion, is the most serious type of concussion. Often, the patient will lose consciousness for 5 minutes or more. The effects of a severe concussion could last for multiple weeks. Immediate medical attention is required, and patients should be carefully monitored. When you suffer a severe concussion, you could be at risk for traumatic brain injury or brain damage. Additionally, it could also lead to a brief coma. Car accidents can happen at any time, to even the best of drivers, in this age of many distractions (cell phones, text messages, and navigation systems). One of the most common types of accidents — the rear-end bump — is well known for causing whiplash, but that back-and-forth motion is also a culprit in many concussions. A driver who experiences headaches after an accident may suspect whiplash, but it could be a concussion instead of (or in addition to) whiplash. A pedestrian hit by a car or a motorcyclist thrown from his or her bike may also suffer a concussion, but it may be overlooked in the presence of more obvious injuries. Whereas as concussions in sports are more likely to effect your life due to the repeated amounts of head injuries per game.
Whether you play an impact sport such as football or engage in individual competition such as gymnastics, the demands of athletics can increase the likelihood you will experience an injury. Unfortunately, some injuries can have long-term implications that extend for years after your injury has healed. Playing sports can have a number of positive life-long effects, namely the promotion of health and fitness. It's also a way to develop important social skills. For a lucky few, playing sports can even be financially lucrative. There are a couple of potential negative effects of playing sports, including the risk of injury or eating disorders. Of course, with any physical activity comes the risk of injury, but some sports are definitely more dangerous than others. In a 2011 survey, the non-profit Safe Kids Worldwide reported that over 1.35 million children sustained sports-related injuries bad enough to merit a trip to an emergency room. Some sports even carry the risk of potentially dangerous physical problems off the field. Most notable are the eating disorders that have developed among gymnasts and other athletes that need to cut weight for competition. The wear and tear athletes subject their bodies to in their prime of their athletic career most often leads to serious health problems later on in life. Some of the most popular sports that put players at a high risk of being injured include basketball, soccer, football, volleyball, tennis, badminton, softball and baseball. Softball players suffer fewer injuries to the elbow and shoulder than baseball players do because of the natural motion of underhand pitching. However, most pitchers and players of both sports will develop arthritis in their hands from the constant strain on their joints. The long term effects of these injuries are joint stiffness, swelling and also pain in the affected areas. Therefore, sports can transform your life in a negative way due to injuries like concussions.

Former Viking Brent Boyd doubts NFL concussion settlement After evaluating the sources I decide to see if they were credible. Several other websites displayed very similar and exact information and statistics. Thus I agree that the sources and citations are credible. Delay deny and hopefully die is one of the significant quotes used in the blog. The meaning of this quotation is that the athletes get injured and they aren’t treated as well and they are supposed to be. The injuries lead to major health issues and death. Most players obtain CTE from sports and they are not informed on the consequences and risk that the athletes have.another quotation is “There are so many land mines throughout the settlement that it’s incredible,” this showcases that there are several players and athletes that are affected with concussions and injuries throughout every single Team in the sport. And like land mines they are silent about the injuries. Many athletes are scared of admitting there injuries because they don’t want to let people know what they are going to and this can affect many lives of players. Over a certain period of time it can get worse.there is no diagnostic until the player death. Similar to a land mine it isn’t seen until it exploded. Brent Boyd, the former Viking is a pioneer in concussion awareness and an outspoken advocate. He is speaking out for the player who experience several concussions and injuries. https://www.newsday.com/opinion/commentary/nfl-s-brent-boyd-if-i-knew-then-what-i-know-now-i-wouldn-t-have-played-1.13333893
