“Rebel” Acrylic and gouache on Rives BFK mounted on wood panel 9″ x 12″ Here’s my piece inspired by Princess Leia for Gallery 1988’s Star Wars: Art Awakens gallery show and charity auction, a collaboration between Gallery 1988, Disney, LucasFilm, and Bad Robot. Pieces in the show will be auctioned off for charity on eBay on Friday, November 13th. If you’re in Los Angeles, you can see the artwork in person on Saturday and Sunday (November 14th and 15th) from 11am–10pm at Gallery 1988 (West). Find out more info here and support a good cause!
Almost everything in this piece is a reference from the original Star Wars trilogy: the symbols of the Rebel Alliance and the Empire, band patches for Max Rebo Band and the Mos Eisley Cantina band, “Rebel scum,” tattoos of Alderaan and Leia’s blaster, modified X-wing pilot gloves, the vest Leia wore on Hoth, her pants from Endor, the chain she used to strangle Jabba, and of course her hair from A New Hope. If you couldn’t tell, I had a lot of fun with this!

Eight months after taking office, the mayor of a small town in Texas has come out as transgender.
“As your Mayor I must tell you about something that has been with me since my earliest memories,” New Hope Mayor Jess Herbst wrote in an open letter on the town’s website. “I am Transgender.”
She is believed to be the first openly transgender mayor in Texas, The Dallas Observer reported.
Herbst has been documenting her journey on the blog, JessHerbst.com. She told The Huffington Post that the reaction to her news has been overwhelmingly positive.

01/30/17 - Lined Lips, Spiked Bats
So here we are one week later and I’ve come out to two people: my best friends J & B. I’ve also been doing some small, minor adjustments with the way I carry myself and a couple, small lifestyle tweaks. Let’s dive into all the things, shall we?
First up is J. I called her the night I made my first post because she’s one of the few people who keep up with my rather psychotic schedule. She was, to say the least, very excited for me. She apparently broke into tears of joy for me after she read everything. It’s kind of funny. We've always had a big brother/little sister dynamic between us. Her first question was whether or not I still wanted her to call me “Onii-Chan” (weeaboo scum that we are). I told her she could call me whatever she felt comfortable with for now. She immediately switched to “Onee-Chan” which made me tear up like crazy. So that went well.
B also took the news very positively. B is definitely my best friend and closest confidante. B is also a psychologist so her help and guidance will be most appreciated and needed during the days ahead. She’s really excited for me and has already promised me access to her closet once I feel like I’m at a comfortable weight. She’s been helping me deal with a lot of fears and uncertainty pertaining to my marriage. I live for my wife and son and the thought of losing them because of this makes my stomach knot up to the point of absolute stillness in everything that I do. Calm. Quiet. Stoic. Everything I’m not.
I’m still not quite sure how to tell my wife. I’ve been trying to formulate everything in my head and the words tumble around like debris caught in a tornado. I escape once again. Calm. Quiet. Stoic. Scared. Lost. I will be absolutely lost without her and will be forced to choose: her with a gnawing sense of longing, me with an everlasting sense of regret and loss. I'd choose the first if it came to that…but I hope it won’t come to that. I want this story to be long, filled with conflict and sorrow, pain, joy, laughter and tears with a neat little happy ending at the end like a bow on a present instead of an abrupt end to a story never to be told. A life never lived.
B did bring up a good point, though. Up until now, I’ve been constantly framing this as my struggle when it won’t be. If she’ll have me then it will become our struggle. Something that we face together as partners. I won’t have to do this alone. That helps a little to remember that I won’t be in this alone, I suppose. Moving on, I’ll touch on the lifestyle tweaks before going. I’ve been wearing panties pretty much full time now. So much more comfortable than men’s underwear, minus the whole tucking thing. I’ve begun peeing sitting down full time. I’ve gotten it down pretty much aside from a couple instances where I’ve forgotten to properly shift things downstairs and end up leaking onto the floor. I’ve also gotten my diet pretty much figured out and intend to start next week. Fortunately, B wants to lose weight too so we’re going to be doing it together and holding one another accountable. I think it’ll be a lot easier doing it with her as opposed to doing it by myself. Thanks for reading everyone. Tomorrow I’ll post the first mixtape which I’m sure you’ll enjoy. Until next time… XOXO -KB

Just a reminder
trans people are not a fetish. trans people are not abnormal. trans people are not a joke. trans people are not doing this for attention. trans people are not weak. trans people are beautiful.

Remember that it’s okay if you don’t fit the average binary. There is nothing wrong with being genderqueer, bigender, agender or just non binary in general. You are still a valid human being and you deserve love and great things.
